Thank you very much for the compliment, and I definitely take it as one. I do wish it was instant and not after the fact, though...🤔 Ah well.
Mo - Saw you were due for some snow. 😑 Stay inside! Have things delivered! Stay safe! Southerners, including Mississippians, do NOT know how to drive in snow!
I know that's obvious, but seriously, it's hard to stay out of people's way that genuinely are dangerous in snow, as they don't know that 99% of it is simply "GO SLOW." The only exception is going UPhill. Any of y'all that are about to get slapped by the snow storm making its way across the South, please stay safe. Just not worth risking your life.
Not a lot going on this side of the Mississippi River, as far as I know, whether it's weather or not. We won't even make it up to freezing today, but supposed to start warming tomorrow. Right now it's back in the single digits, at 8 degrees (-13C). Time to put my socks on. Will be my 14th day in a row of exercise when I'm done with the elliptical. Pleased with myself. Haven't moved consistently in so long...
Talked to Corey, and I may do an early quick run into town. I want to return some curtain rods to Walmart that I didn't need in the end, and Corey needs big band-aids for work. Hate being cold, but as my Alaskan husband noted, once it gets below freezing, you're cold, whether it's 10 below or 20 below. I will get cabin fever if I never leave the house. Still thinking about it, while me and my gut do our early morning do-si-do.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
Good job on the elliptical! I just go on the treadmills, the elliptical freaks me out. I see some people that use it, and it looks like they're going backwards, and others that are definitely going forward. There's one guy that looks like he's mountain climbing on the thing. Sort of a hip thrust with each stride. 🙄😳
I shall put on music, put in my buds and read my vampire romance on my tablet and calmly walk.😂

Yesterday I filled out one online form that included attaching a scanned copy of Jake's death certificate. I won't know for awhile if I did it right and accomplished what was required. I also went online to find where to dispose of all the medications. I'll go look for the place today while I'm out to go to the library.
Rebecca, When I owned a treadmill it was set up facing the TV so I could walk and watch a favourite show that I'd recorded. I tried the elliptical once and hated it. Now that I walk outside, I have headphones and listen to a podcast, audio book, or favourite music.

Re: The elliptical - the best part for me is no impact, but I'm still doing a weight-bearing exercise. Your feet stay flat and never lift up and pound down as they do with the treadmill. My wrecked knees can handle the elliptical movements much better than walking outside or on a treadmill. The next best part is that I'm the one moving the machine - I've done a lot of treadmill work, but find myself a little leery of a machine that's pushing my feet. I can get extremely clumsy, and my dizziness does not go well with machine-driven motions. The other reason I like it is that four points of my body are on the machine at all times - both hands and both feet. Keeps me safe if I wobble.
Edit to add - The other reason I loved the elliptical over these years is because at 300 pounds, or at any weight, in the end, I can RUN on an elliptical. Because there's no pounding, you can work at speed, no matter how much you weigh. I was always one of the fit fat, and the elliptical kept me as healthy as I could be. Unfortunately, you can't outrun a bad diet. I know. I tried.
Also, Rebecca - that guy probably was going backwards. You can (and I do) move your feet backwards or forwards, and I change up every two or three minutes on the machine. The backward stride works your gluteus maximus just a little harder. Regarding the guy looking like he's climbing, you can extend the stride as far as you want on a gym-level machine, which approximates climbing hills at the longest stretch.
All that said, the cheap ones or cheapER onces can be absolutely awful. If you can't stand up straight, especially if the angle of the pedals pitches you forward, you can really hurt yourself. The angle of your hands matters, too. If you're standing up straight when it's at its default stride level, and your hands can rest on the handholds without pushing or holding you up, it's a better machine. If you move your feet and the machine leans side to side, don't ever get on it.
And all of those things should be taken with a great grain of salt, because what matters is what YOU will do. And even more importantly, what you will KEEP doing. That's not for one person in particular, it's the reminder for me, mostly.
Probably more than anyone wanted to know - Did I mention that I managed a gym in Illinois right after I lost the 166 pounds from the gastric bypass? 😜
Time to get on said elliptical and get that bit done. Music's already playing...

Good Morning Friends...Watched a good interview given by Mathew Walker the author of Why We Sleep. Left with a new resolve to improve my sleep.
What I am doing right is using the breathe right strips and taping in the middle of my mouth to encourage breathing through my nose...Black out curtains.
Working on getting to bed earlier and no caffeine past 11-12 this includes chocolate...
One comment he made is that if you are losing weight and not getting the proper sleep it can unfortunately cause you to lose muscle rather than fat. He didn't say it but it made me think that is why after losing weight it is often regained.
He went on to say with proper sleep it can help prevent and or improve Alzheimer's, Type two diabetes, among other chronic diseases.
He did emphasize that an occasional bad night sleep or indulging with friends with a drink is not the problem. It is when it becomes chronic that it is important to take steps to improve.
He was not in favor of long term use of sleep aids because they often do not address the underlying problems.
I put his book Why We Sleep on reserve from the library.
I am finding that if I understand the whys of the importance of changing my habits it makes it easier for me to improve my health regime.

Inspired by you all, listened to Cas podcasts while tidying, sweeping out the potting area AND undecorating the tree yesterday. OMG the cobwebs and spider corpses! Today I WILL do at least 10 minutes of BB&B, get the ornament boxes stowed away in the Christmas trunk, and maybe either mix up cookie batter or fill the growing cells with seed starting mix or or or before taking a shower and heading out to the house of pain for “impre$$ion$” for new implant$.
Allie and Rita that IS too long for a cold. ((hugs))
Kay “Go Potty” When we were training Shadow as a puppy, it was “do your business!”
Heather and Rebecca, if Joe belittled my interests it would annoy me too! Fortunately he keeps those opinions to himself ;}
Rebecca “Marshmallow boy” LOL!
Pip thanks! I was afraid the scent would linger on and taint any food stored therein.
Michele “dealing with gas”?
Mo 45 minutes of step aerobics? Well begun! Petting Rose might not burn calories but it surely reduces stress and blood pressure…
Likewise Brava to Lisa for 14th days exercising, and stroking Egg.
Tracey thanks for the recommendation of “On the Basis of Sex” about Ruth Bader Ginsberg. We don’t subscribe to NefFlix but will look for it on OnDemand or Amazon Prime. Will also look for Accused on Fox.
Machka thanks for the https://bobbinbikes.com/blogs/blog/the-best-bike-jokes links, will share for sure! BTW been meaning to comment on how joyful you look in your Strava pic, and how gorgeous the view from your new home.
Margaret, copycat me just put a hold on “Why we sleep” . Thank you for your inspiratioin!
Carla that’s not quite the body part we used to say in Idaho
Lanette, what did Dr. Lisa say about the allergy triggering monitor?
BTW hummingbirds are back. Think of Katla every time one stops by to feed. Miss her.
Roomba’s bin is full and time to get movin’

We’ve been having really cold weather for the dessert. I woke up at 8:00 am to 10 degrees and frozen water. DH keeps using the bottled water in this case and running out. We will probably go out today as his glasses are ready and we need to go to the PO and get more water. I still don’t feel like doing anything, but I did go for a 20 minute walk yesterday around the campground. I will do it again today. I did call my mom yesterday who was in a good mood again. Then, not long after, my uncle (81 YO) called and we had a good talk too. Also heard from my son. So good day for family for a change.
Coughing is now occasional instead of constant, my sinuses are becoming clearer but my ears are still not clearing from the infection. Still feeling tired and bleh. Improving but too slow for my liking. I understand where Allie is coming from!
I have been looking for rental to move too from the RV. DH is bad with money, especially Amazon so we don’t have enough for a deposit AND first month’s rent. We will have to wait until March with me not letting him spend money! At least the ranger isn’t insisting we move yet, so we do have time. I had the money, but then, things happen. I can get it but have to become a b123h to DH and buying stuff. It can be done!! Thinking positive!
Thoughts for today come from an app I found called Dad Jokes if you are interested.
Thought for today:

Today has been 7 yrs since my dads passing.. just spoke eith my brother.Dan and I are good with dates him not so much.but we miss him dearly..My moms anniversary is the day after valentines day and that will be 25 yrs for her..
Well going to go and relax a bit while the baby sleeps.7 -
Good morning ladies!
Just chilly here compared to what most of you are going through. We had a low of 19F yesterday but had sunshine so the thermometer hit 40. Warmer today, looks like low 24F, daytime inching up another sunny degree. No wind to speak of. Will take it.
Kay - I laughed out loud at the nicknames you and Dave have for folks in your neighborhood. DH and I did that too. T and I have our own "secret nicknames" and language we use with each other texting and on Messenger. Our conversations are usually at about a 12-year old level. Every night we send each other "nightie night" messages and generally make "ribald" comments. Well, last night I accidentally sent a real doozy to someone who runs a produce market...my laptop has a habit opening several Messenger windows at once, I was tired and thought I was responding to her. Anyway, I realized it two seconds after I hit the "send" button. So immediately sent another Message, apologizing and explaining the mix up. Then I said "hope it was entertaining!" Got some smiley faces back.
When the pandemic started up, a friend started saying "Faith not Fear". I think "Fun not Fear" is appropriate these days. Silliness is good for the soul.
Barbara - talked with Dr. Lisa yesterday about the bad reaction to the heart monitor adhesive patches and electrodes. She said that's cool, pack it all up and send it back, we'll take what we can get.
Jealous husbands - My DH was the jealous type and I overlooked it as best I could. If I were a young gal today and dating a fella who even hinted at being jealous and possessive, I'd drop him like a hot potato.
Funny, I remember when DH and I were either dating or first married, I caught him ogling some gal who was definitely "hot". I broke his spell by commenting something like. "Isn't that gal beautiful? Her hair is so pretty and I love that outfit she's wearing." He had a confused look on his face, lol. I still laugh when I think about it.
Ok better close. Stay warm and don't get frostbite! Hope this Big Chill moves on before long!

John is jealous of this group, and we used to have arguments about it. He is also jealous of the people I follow online. It really annoys me when he belittles my interests. Most of the time I don't talk about them, but I feel it is such a huge part of my life that it would be dishonest not to mention them from time to time. He knows I am , these days, much more interested in women than men, so he doesn't joke about 'boyfriends'. I must say, it's a rare man who captures my interest. Any men I like are usually gay. I am very attached to my women friends, but he doesn't mind them quite as much as the online ones.
His sister will be phoning him tonight. We haven't spoken in ages. Just life being busy.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
My husband used to nag me that the friends online on Facebook or in this group weren't "real" and that would annoy me. It belittled my emotions and feelings in my opinion. Now, I show him the photos (like Pips new rig) or (Allie's cute grandkids) and I do speak to him about your lives. I used to be bummed that I would grow old and not ever get my "tribe of supportive wise women". Well now, I truly believe I have gotten it with you all in my lives.👍🏼💖🙏

I always felt like I was using the old fashioned wide snowshoes when I used an elliptical machine and to feel somewhat comfortable, I had to place my feet on the inner sides of the foot beds which didn't feel right either.

Chilly and sunny here.
Today's adventures in to the unknown--the automatic car wash (I haven't used one in over 20 years and Annie has never been in one) and going to the police station to dispose of a huge bag of prescription meds. The easy job was going to the library.
The cold I had in November lasted well past three weeks and I didn't realize how sick I had been until I started to feel better.

Going to see another dr on Thursday. Trying to figure out what I need to do/say to get more testing done.
I lost 7 pounds in the last 2 weeks, so whatever it is, it's spiking my metabolism again. Just hoping the tachycardia/heart trying to beat its way out of my chest doesn't come back too.

After work went to Publix and got my free ice cream. Then to Michael’s to return a piece of plastic canvas, use my $5 voucher, buy black yarn (I honestly don’t have black) and earring fishhooks. Total came to a little over $1. Then home, will ride the bike (it’s still SOOO cold) and then probably work on the puzzle some. If find that if I work on it just an hour at a time, I get more done because more than an hour and I find that I’m trying the same pieces in the same spot. It didn’t fit the first time, and it won’t fit the fifth time either.
Won’t go to ceramics tonight. I think I can live without the birthdays. Just put the sausage cheese balls in the freezer for another month.
Put the self-cleaning feature on the oven last night. Now I need to clean it out
Wore the pants to work and, sure enough, they aren’t “official uniform” but they told me it was OK now since it’s so cold and these pants are so warm
Mo – it isn’t the cold weather that makes me more hungry, it’s the boredom. I eat not because I’m hungry but because I’m bored and there isn’t as much to do in the winter. At least in summertime you can go outside, I spend the day in the pool. Do you like your roll up mat for your puzzle? I don’t really care for mine. It doesn’t work the way I thought it would (or should say, I hoped it would)
Going to hit the gym tomorrow. I’ll try the stairstepper. If I have a problem with my heel, I’ll just cut it short, but I don’t think I will. I don’t have a problem walking up the stairs at home.
Barbie – when I go walking outside, I listen to the phone but without headphones. I’m always afraid that I won’t hear something.
Cleaned out the oven from using the self-cleaning feature. Went and rode the bike (it’s WAAAYYYY too cold outside to walk) then worked on the puzzle some.
A few years ago the dermatologist removed a skin tag from my back, mainly because I was always fearful that it would start to bleed. Well, now I have a lump where the tag was. I’m going to call him tomorrow. Can the skin tag be growing back? It doesn’t hurt, just uncomfortable.
Deb – I was having a problem with MFP when I went to log my food. It wouldn’t go to the second page of my meals or of my recent foods. However, I was able to log on my tablet and add them. Go figure!
Jennifer – let us know what the doc says. When you go into tachycardia, do you know what triggers it?
Michele NC6 -
Machka - will have them made of wood or glass?
Rebecca - My DH and daughters were part of online forums long before I ever was. I remember sending a parcel to two different people my DH talked to online from Australia. We sent some things that were unique to Canada and they sent unique to Australia. If anyone was skeptical of online friends back then it was me.
This and the JFT group on MFP are the only two I have ever joined. I agree with you all you ladies are my tribe, I have learned so much from all of you in so many areas. I can’t imagine not coming in, my girls and DH know about you and listen to what Im saying. They know that whatever we’re doing will be shared with “my ladies”.
Lisa - I tend to come up with something brilliant to say in the middle of the night when what I’ve said has nagged at me all day.
I find there are different types of cold all dependent on the wind and humidity. The dry windy cold here I think is worse than the wet cold in NB.
Rita - I hope you’re able to get the money together.
Lanette - I would probably head the other way from jealousy too.
I like that Fun not Fear.
Rodger and I are going out for dinner this weekend. Kaitlyn and Brodey bought us a date night for Christmas. I don’t know if we’ll do everything she planned but we’ll do one at least.
I had a pretty uneventful day but I’m beat.
Off to bed.

Hello dear friends,
It is midnight, and I guess I never switched to a day schedule during this stretch of my break. DS has a lot of anxiety. He puts his stuff in storage, and they keep going up in price for him. He works at the university and has an internship teaching dramatic writing to High School kids. Plus, he has his load in school. DS is going into the last semester of his junior year. He isn't coming home this summer cause he has an internship. He missed Rose and wanted to talk to her, but she was too busy barking at someone walking by.
I woke up at 8:30 a.m., had my morning tea, ate cereal, and then returned to my warm bed. At almost 3 p.m., I woke up with a headache. I did my sinus wash, took meds, and wore a hoodie and sweats. I decided to take Rose out. I ran around with her for some exercise. It was freezing outside, so I left her out there. I don't know what I will do when I move to Chicago. I made tea, salad with salmon, and lunch for Rose. Would you believe I went to sleep again watching TV? DH called to remind me to watch Married At First Site with him( our long-distance date night). I finally convinced myself to work out. So, I did 45 minutes of step aerobics and felt good. So, day two of working out. I have to keep it up to make it a habit again. Once I get my momentum, I need to continue, or I will have to start all over again.
Carla, my DH, is in Minnesota for work, and he said it is cold.
Tracey, a date night will be fun.
Michelle, I understand what you mean. It is too cold to walk outside for long, and I don't want to go swimming and leave out with wet hair.
Pip, what kind of dog is Lucy? You have a nice-looking gang of 3. Yogi looks like the leader.
Rebecca, I am well versed in politics and try to keep up if someone is missing or shooting. My uncle, a Chicago police officer, told me to watch the news before I stepped out so I wouldn't drive into something. I take my chances. I will keep up with the above, but I don't want to debate. I have seen friendships end over politics and religion. So, I take notes, discuss with DH, and move on.
Carol, I hope you are doing okay. You are on my mind.
Barbie, I know this is a difficult time, but you are learning a lot, and I am learning through you. When I needed to help my mom pay for her electricity and home insurance, I discovered they were in my grandpa's name. My mother never changed it. She continued to pay it, and that was it. So, it is good that you are getting things done right away.
Well, I am going to bed. Talk to you all later.
XO,
MO in Mississippi
