APP accessibility

Hello,
I am glad to be here!
This app seems amazing and I am excited to get started.
My cousin encouraged me to get this free app, however my accessibility is very limited under the free version. Why is the app fully accessible to some users, under the free version, while I am focused to pay for the subscription to fully utilize this app?
Thanks for your time

Welcome!
There is an additional fee because MFP is not a non-profit.
I decided to go for the premium version quite a few years ago and have no regrets. I don't miss those ads, have a few extra bells and whistles, and the fee seems reasonable to me. Just my opinion.
Good luck!

Which feature do you think you need that is not available on the free version? Look at how long I've been here. I never felt the urge to pay. If you think you need the barcode scanner: it uses the same database as when you search by name. But instead of giving you a list of items to chose from it just ads something to your diary. Which might contain totally outdated nutritional info, be from another country, or you get a completely different product. And then you still have to search by hand.1 -
Generally, the full app - all features - isn't accessible to anyone unless they pay for premium.
In some countries, I understand that people who got the barcode scanner for free were able to keep it as free, while it was removed from those in some countries unless they paid. That's hearsay: I don't have firm proof. When I heard it, it had something to do with regulations in countries about how companies could change terms of service for existing users. I think new users after that point wouldn't get the scanner unless they paid for premium.
I'm with yirara, though: I don't like or use the scanner, even though I have it. Some other premium features are useful to me, but not that one. I used the free version to lose weight, and for quite a while early on in maintenance, and there was nothing else I truly needed . . . there were just some things that are nice to have.
What is it that you feel you're lacking, and why is it important to you? Maybe there's a workaround we could suggest.0 -
I'm in Australia and still have free access to the scanner, interesting that someone signing up new might not - half tempted to set it up on my husband's phone and check!
I do find that the scanner is very useful as long as I check the info against the label, might just be because I use a lot of Aussie products (obviously) but sooooo many things don't come up in a word search that do when I scan. Maybe I'm not scrolling down long enough, but that in itself is a pain.
Having said all that, I too wonder which parts OP is finding inaccessible which they might benefit from? I've been on free for always, and it does the job for me!0
