On my walk this morning I wore my usual extra warm coat but no scarf or hat. I met two people, one said it was so warm that he should have left his hat at home and the other who said that it was so cold that she wore her extra warm coat.
I read an article about clutter clearing that talked about creating a place called "clutter purgatory" where you put stuff you probably want to get rid of but aren't ready. Keep that stuff out of sight for weeks or months and revisit it later. Nothing slows down the process like too much time spent ruminating over a single item.
Throwing away or discarding 3 items a day will result in clearing out over 1000 things in a year.

TO ALL THE MARCH BIRTHDAYS5 -
Tracey - I found "The Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke" on Hulu. It's the first piece on this that I've seen that told the complete story from the times when life was supposedly wonderful, and they were making millions off of YouTube through all the way to the sentencings. Lots of not-so-nice outtakes from the original years when everything was shiny for the Internet. It also had long interviews with the husband as well as the two oldest kids - the two youngest kids were blurred out, and not old enough or didn't wish to participate in the documentary. Interesting. And heartbreaking.
Barbie - I've put a couple of boxes in my storage area with "burn dates." All the files that I digitized when I digitized all the photos. I sent all the family photos to my daughter, and the rest are in the burn box. Digitized, but no real reason to keep the paper. The burn date is a year out from the time it goes on the shelf. Whatever hasn't been pulled back out in that year goes on the burn pile.
Lynn - I'm so sorry about the bout with Covid! Sounds like no fun at all. Your trip sounds like fun.
Many of the chores done, some (laundry) still in progress. Knocking the list down one at a time! Did hear from my daughter, who is in Colorado, at the hospital with her grandmother. Mid-80s, and the heart bypass seems to have gone OK, but a few hiccups. Still in cardiac ICU.
Time to get some lunch going!
Later!
Love,
Lisa

I'm also going to be taking the train home from Vancouver WA where the middle son and family live. He's going to come fetch me from my sisters. Then I will have Sunday evening, Monday, and Tues to play with the kids and visit with son and daughter in law when they get home from work and we share a meal. Athena will be in spring break so no school! My daughter in law has Wednesday's off so she can take me to the train station.😁👍🏼

Happy birthday Rita!! I hope your day is fab! Just order people about. I wore a tiara on my birthday once! Do that and everyone looking at you will smile and grin. Walk around making sweeping motions with your hands, like "out of my way royalty here"!😁🤗💌💞

MFP Weekly Check-in for March 3, 2025
Rita in Roswell NM - Almost forgot to do this! Weight up .5 this past week. Just not there yet. Too many life things getting in the way of taking care of me.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - up again this week, but only up .2 so 150.8. Need it to go in the other direction. Good chance this one is because of water. Ate Chinese food yesterday- Only ate two bites of the chow fun just to have a little more filling food. Otherwise I ate green beans in black bean sauce and shrimp with veggies (only 3 shrimp in it) It was pretty salty. Did have two 100 cal. nut bars for my evening snack.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast – Avg WT moderated a bit to 133.7. AF 43% and steps 4989 short of goals.CI and sugar stink, but got two dog walks in Saturday, yay!
Sue in WA State - Made it to the YM 4 times last week. I am not really thrilled with the substitute teacher for water exercise but I can do my own thing and still get a good workout when she becomes too repetitious. I am up a couple of pounds today. I ate too much salty food and did not drink enough water. working on more water and less sugar and salt. We will see.
Evie on Vancouver Island - Finally back on the wagon! Like Machka I’ve been paying closer attention to what’s been going into my mouth and moving a bit more. It was official wi day yesterday and I’m down 1.8 lbs this week. Had popcorn for a snack last night so up a pound this morning but that’s okay, I will flush that out today! Evelyn on cloudy Vancouver Island where we apparently had an earthquake early this morning!
Lanette in SW WA State – weight 160#. Step average 9474 this week, way up doing outside tasks including pruning, weed eating. Total activity minutes – 315. House walking, still 10-15 minutes at a time, carrying weights.

Did Joyce Vidral’s Upper and Lower Body DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Body Attack DVD. Just came back from a walk – have over 10,000 steps so far
Rebecca – fantastic you booked Amtrak
Rita – happy birthday
After exercise went to Aldi. On the way home stopped at Brevard Charities. Saw a pair of shorts I was afraid would be too big but since they were a petite I thought “maybe”. Sure enough, they were too big. But there was this other pair that I thought “oh, they’ll be too small”. Then I decided to try them on. They fit! Size 8 works.
Came home, got dinner ready, then pool time! But it was SOOOO windy that I cut it short
Lynn – sorry about the Covid. But glad you’re better now
pip – I have no doubt that you’ll stay on top
Vince takes allergy shots for his sensitivity to cats. Yes, we’ve had cats for over 20 years. Well, it seems that since we’ve been down here he’s feeling more sensitive. Probably the cat dander and the condo being smaller than the house, it’s more concentrated. He said that he wants to get out more, so this is probably a blessing in disguise. He ordered some certain cat food that’s supposed to help with a cat not putting out so much dander. I’ve always been saying how he doesn’t do much down here except watch TV and a few other little things. I’m the one who is always on the go. So I told him that after dinner we’ll go walking around the parking lot. I also told him that there are books in the clubhouse he can borrow. Guys at the pool today were asking me where he was, he should join them. They just sit there and chat. This’ll get him out of the condo. He can go down with me, sit in the shade (I’m the sun lover), read a book and when guys come there, they can chat. At least that’ll get him out of the condo.
Got Vince to take a short walk around the parking lot. But that’s OK, at least he’s doing it and getting out of the condo. It also gave me more steps. Right now I’m at almost 13,000

Lynn-I was given Paxlovid both times I had Covid-and it is nasty tasting stuff.I kept tell myself it could not taste worse than the fear of being incubated! I discovered that the candy Hot Tamales tamed the taste!
Liked one place I viewed Friday and one I didn't care for. There is a two bedroom two bath model available. There is also a two bed two bath with a patio opening up March 31. I can put the deposit down and they will hold it for a few months-this place seems to realize some of us check things out ahead of time! They are going to see if current residents of patio unit will let me in to view it before I sign lease. If they won't I will still probably take it.
See surgeon on March 18to see what he says. If surgery is in the cards I will hold off on retirement date until that is done and I have recovered. Am checking out Medicare stuff. Think I'm going to stay with traditional plan with Medigap and maybe a secondary plan.
Off to get ready for bed. Back is slowly easing up.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio9 -
Michele, Re: cat allergies
I am allergic to cats. I have found that one cat is fine, if I don't let her get in my face or if I wash my hands after petting her. Two cats put me over the limit, even without close contact, and I am miserable. I don't remember how many you have, but I know it's at least two, and that might be the issue with Vince, and the smaller space.
Happy birthday to our March people.
Welcome to the new ladies.
Thank you, Barbie for your faithfulness.

Barbie--Thank you for starting us on the new month. Sending big hugs. Grief is different for each of us.
Carol--Glad you got your FB page back. I was having trouble with my email the other day. After a couple hours I was finally able to change the password and it is working again.
Heather and Lanette--I am finding that I do not like to go out. I can find all kinds of reasons for staying home.
Barbara and Rita -- Happy Birthday. DH's birthday was Saturday the first and mine was yesterday the second. We went to church and a gun show.
DH's doctor appointment did not release him to go back to full duty. He has to take a couple weeks of PT now to build up his strength. He went to talk to them today and he can not start until next Monday. I never heard back from the bank, so keep looking.
Been beautiful Spring weather in the 50's for almost a week. That is to change tonight with a winter storm warning with high winds. Makes me more than happy to be able to stay home.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -

Happy Birthday Rita!

Rebecca - That will be awesome seeing your old friend perform.
Terri - I hope my retirement looks like yours. I don’t think I do well at home.
Machka - I loved the smell of pillowcases when they came in off the line and that first night with them on the bed. I so miss having clothes hanging on a line. We haven’t had it since we moved here because not one place we have lived allows it.
I used Excel for weight loss tracking too.
Heather - you’ll soon have your book already to go.
I can’t wait until it’s nice enough here to have the windows opened and cleaned.
I hope your window cleaner shows soon.
Rita - Happy Birthday!
Lisa - It sounds to me like you’re as busy as Terri but in different ways.
We have carpet on the bedroom, laminate in the hall, craftroom and living room, tile in the kitchen/dining room and vinyl plank in the bathroom. We need new flooring in the living room, kitchen and hallway.
I don’t have Hulu. I hope it comes to another service sometime.
I seem to be fascinated by true stories.
Even when I was young, we had a neighbour that had True Story (I can’t remember their names right now)magazines, some of them were tragic love stories, some of them were true crime. I was way too young to be reading them, but my Mom and her would visit and I would sit in a corner and quietly read her magazines. 😂
Does Kelsey get a discount for flights? I know it’s much cheaper in the States than Canada, but still Hawaii must be expensive for flights no matter where you are.
Ozempic is used for diabetes here, my DH had it prescribed and for our benefits to cover it the doctor needed to write a letter stating it wasn’t for weight loss.
It can be bought as a weight loss med too, but not covered.
Lynn - Your weekend away sounds heavenly. My DH used to drive truck and I would go with him on trips occasionally. I thought both WV and NC were beautiful states.
Barbie - the people you met on your walk sums up the way people differ.
Allie - Isn’t it the law that employers can’t refuse WCB for workplace injuries there? It’s against the law here.
Ginny - I hope you get to see the place you like. If you sign a lease isn’t it yours? Can they renege? Or do you have to pay for it and your own home too?
Vicki - Happy Birthday.
I am struggling to stay positive these days. I’m turning to what usually helps me and finding music related shows.
Thankfully, all of the talent search type are coming back. Then tonight on PBS I found a Kris Kristofferson Special. It was filmed in 2016 and is a lot of other stars paying tribute to him and his music. The only problem with PBS is the long breaks where they want donations.
I also bought some fluff books this weekend. The plot lines are just fun with happy endings. No real thought and you know what’s going to happen so not a lot of attention needed to read.
I only read at bedtime. It relaxes me before I sleep.
I’ve also decided to start posting something positive on FB each night before bed.

Happy birthday to Rita and Vicki!!!
Went to chair yoga this morning. They are fund raising for the Y this week. Sponsors are payinģ $1 for each time someone scans their membership card to get in. Staff are asking people to scan several times while they are there. Seems a little like cheating to me. I only scanned myself in once. Maybe I misunderstood the way it is supposed to work.
DD leaves for Vegas on Friday for a buying trip. She will be gone until Tuesday so I will be on my own for a few days. Good chance to really watch what I eat.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA7 -
Hello Peeps,
I missed two birthdays. Happy belated Birthday, Barbara! My mom's Birthday is March 1st as well. I forgot my wallet when I went to work Friday, so I didn't get to visit my mom that morning when I got off. So I will make a memorable trip to celebrate later—happy birthday to my jokester Rita. I hope you had a wonderful day.
On Friday, I was alone and had a student to work with. I didn't get crazy, but I let her vent, reviewed her words, and told her that she needed to be more positive.
Barbara, thank you for bringing us into March. I hope you all have a wonderful week so far, and I will post later.

A milestone has been reached! Yesterday I walked up the stairs, without holding on to anything, with both legs. !!!!!!!!!
I struggled near the top, but I made it. First time for a year. I've been waiting for this moment for months now.
This morning I woke up too early and found myself worrying about other people, so did a good 20 mins strength exercises. Gave those hip etc muscles a good workout.I still have balance and weights to do, but it's a good start to the day.
Bea pick up today, so I will get some walking in.
I will start fiddling with my book format today - just title pages, etc. It will feel good to get that started.
Happy Birthday to Vicki.

Hello Ladies!
I am diligently tracking my food and so far, the urge for carbs hasn't been overwhelming. I have a bunch of non-sugar sweeteners (Allulose, Monk Fruit and Stevia) and some Almond flour coming from Amazon and I will try my hand at some low carb baking for those times when the sweet tooth starts to ache. Alas, it's another week until they arrive - so, I will have to see if I can find any good dessert recipes for ingredients I can pick up at HEB. Hopefully, I can find some Chia seeds - as there are a number of enticing sugar free chia puddings that look like they might be great.
Work continues to be hectic - there is literally never a dull moment - which is actually a good thing - but, I am going to have to work very hard on my Work Life balance - especially since I am on salary now... When I hourly - it wasn't so heartbreaking to have to work 60 hours a week... now, it kind of is. So, Time management will be my first and most important goal, going forward.
I am nor much of a social media gal - I have only ever done much posting here - but, I have been decluttering by selling things on Facebook. My husband's man cave has been a treasure trove of toys and other things to list for sale. Bless his heart - he had severe hoarding tendencies - which only enhanced mine - so between us, we managed to fill this place up with just WAY too much stuff.
I have spent the last few months taking loads of things to the Goodwill, to the landfill and listing things for sale. I have made some good progress - but I need to step up my game so I can actually get started on the remodel. I am trying to condense down to only what I can have in my Kitchen and my guest room - so there won't be so much "stuff" to move around as the remodel moves from one area to another. I am just pretending that I am moving - and getting rid of anything I wouldn't pay to have hauled across country.
Kylea - sending you strength for the nicotine battle - it was a tough one, with much backsliding for me - but, I did finally give it up something like 20 years ago. Your lungs will thank you for it.
Rita - absolutely celebrate for the whole week. The world is lucky to have you and your birthday should be a major event - as it should for each one of us!
Allie - what an adorable baby! It will be nice if your friend is closer to you.
Tracy - LOVE the gnome in the truck. I do love a good gnome.
Heather - glad you're feeling a little better - and gratz on the stairs! Great achievement. I long for that day.
Lynn - I feel you on the Covid meds - but, they really did seem to help me - and the nasty taste goes away about 24 hours after to stop taking it.
Michelle - maybe you could try an air filter to try and get some of the dander and other allergens out of the air?
Thank you all for the warm welcome back!
Happy Belated Birthdays to our Early March Girls and hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Oops! Buried most of my post in the spoiler yesterday. Hope y’all saw the thanks for the bday greetings. Thanks Terri, pip, Kim, Flea, Mo and Re!
No declutter progress to report, but did make it to BB&B and line dancing. Even did a little Jeopardy walking to make step goal, yay me. (Boy I sure miss @Anniesquats100)
Lynn in NC sorry to hear about the Covid. That cabin get away sounds just right.
Heather loved hearing about your cream of the day walk. So glad to hear you’re getting back out to the beach! Sorry to hear how that day ended. ((hugs)) then WOW your stair accomplishment AND 20 mins strength?!? Well done!
Debbie, like Machka I keep track of daily weight in a spreadsheet, with a formula to sum then divide by the number of days in the month. My long division skills are too rusty to trust
Machka so what is the secret for cleansing oily dish towels/pillow cases?
Lanette inspiring step count, you GO gal! Likewise Barbie, Michele and pip. Lead ON!
Ginny that place with the patio sounds just right.
Belated best birthday wishes, dear Vicki!
Re yours to Kylia about the nicotine battle. Congrats on 20 yrs!!!
Time to snooze or it’ll be hard to get up early for tomorrow’s casserole-a-thon.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

TraceyI will sign for the place and put down deposit but not pay monthly until I move in. My plan is to not put house on market until I am in the other place (Don't want showing with cats in house and want it cleaned very well). House is paid off so I only pay utilities which will not be as much in spring. I am fortunate in that I can make the payment not, but of course prefer just to pay for one place!
Heather-one thing I am looking forward to is having time to devote to exercise the I retire. I do get in some time each day but it is always a challenge to fit stuff in. I am pretty committed to the 30 minutes of functional strength and stretches. Walking is in there somewhere-hard to do with FT work and only me to do house stuff (so maybe I go for a walk instead of vacuuming!)
Vicki-good luck on your job hunt. I know while unemployment is relatively low good employees are always needed.
Happy birthday to all of the March ladies. March is busy birthday for my family, son on 2nd, GS on 12th, Step son on 18th, Dil 21st. Thankfully none in April!
We are scheduled for rain to start here late tonight-evidently some of you may get some challenging weather-stay safe!
Today is scheduled WFH but I have a 9 am meeting on site. Will go in for the morning and come home at lunch.
Off to morning routine.

Good Tuesday.
Yesterday was rough! It would be less rough if I didn't care so much about the shop and/or changed my expectations of others. But i made it through! Ended day with massage and grocery. So food back in house. Now to pack foods.
Happy Birthday, Vicki!
Apparently my heart has stage fright when wearing a monitor. I found this graph while perusing Fitbit last night.
I was trying to just get my heart over 120 while house walking on Sunday. It did but then watched it jump around bunches in my fitbit. It doesn't show up like that on the general graph, but under the walk graph. It is really frustrating for me and heart doctor when we can't get it to duplicate on demand. DH says I need to quit pushing the walk. My heart can't get healthier if I don't exercise it. I have screen shot a few other and will share with heart doctor. I have had a migraine since Sunday.....hmm...
Better get my walk in before work. Yes, my DH will be *itching.
Machka They just don't listen even if it has been years since TBI. SMH. Hope appointment goes well
Ginny Sounds ds like a lovely place! I hope it works out!
I never got to check in with Lanette yesterday. I am down a pound! Yay!!!! 134.3. So excited!
Better get some things done
Hugs to all!
Healing thoughts!
Grateful for all of you!

To be fair, he does have permanent brain damage - there's a relatively large section on the left side of his brain and a smaller section in the front that are just scar tissue now and show up on MRIs as such. While some things are rerouted around the damaged sections, not everything is.
