Fighting Cancer

Hi!!!! My name is Marilyn. I’m70 yo and I have been working macros and lost 40 lbs last year. I was diagnosed with breast cancer late this last November. Caught it very early due to monthly self exams. Waiting on Radiation Therapy as a precaution, but now considered cancer free.
I am starting to gain weight thanks to some anxiety and a little depression. I need to get back on track and help my body to be better able to fight off illness.
Sorry, long intro!!!😊

    Hello and welcome, Marilyn!

I'm Ann, 69 y/o, and also a breast cancer survivor. Mine was not early, but instead stage III, and required surgery, chemo, radiation, and anti-estrogen drugs for 7.5 years (now nearly 25 years ago!).

For sure, working on nutrition and reaching/staying at a healthy body weight are things that can help avoid cancer recurrence, as well as support health in other ways. MFP has helped me with those things. Finding some fun ways to be more active - exercise or daily life stuff, something practical and manageably challenging - can also be a plus. All of that can be a positive influence on stress and mood, too, as a bonus.

Wishing you success - IME the results are worth the effort!

    Hello Marilyn,

I was just spared cancer, so your intro spoke to me. I am glad you caught it early and I wish you luck and determination on your journey. Fight it, and fight hard!

Your intro wasn't long at all. I am glad you opened up.

I am 61, I have 2 autoimmune disorders, I just had a thyroidectomy because my thyroid had so many nodules and was so enlarged they couldn't take a biopsy, it had to come out. The surgery was in a cancer hospital and I got a heavy and needed dose of humility.

I am grateful and more determined than ever to change my ways. So far I have managed to kick diabetes2 to the curb and I have lost 46 lbs. I have 100 more to lose, so I will be here for a while. :)

I founded a group because I hoped to interact with likeminded people. You can join but don't feel you have to.
