Love a sauna. Minus the resident walruses.
DDIL loved her flowers. My niece was v happy with my lit crit, but asked my advice about tenses. I told her to trust her gut instincts and that she is not carving marble - anything can be changed. (Why does it take a lifetime to learn these things? )
Bea put me through a Spanish competition on the way home. I think we drew.
My tortilla quiche came out really well. John loved it, but declared it could take more blue cheese. Definitely will do it again. I used leeks, spinach, St Agur, and eggs.
I was pleased with myself for taking in my broken gold hoop earrings for repair this afternoon. I've been meaning to get around to it for months. An old boyfriend gave them to me. I also asked them about replacing a missing diamond chip in my wedding ring. It's been missing for years and annoys me. They took it and are going to ring me with an estimate. It is such a nice family jewellers. I've sold them quite a bit of gold over the years. Always charming and v fair prices.

Today is day two and I feel like a sore wet noodle. My pecs are sore from the arm machines, and my knee tendons sore from the machine that works those. I did 1.30 miles walk, tested my BP and it was 110/78. My body must be beating slow to conserve energy. I am excersizing in a fasted state, but feeling otherwise fine. I ate at noon today so 18 hours fasting. I started off with a Fresca, and a charcuterie plate of sorts. Uncured salami, brie, stone ground crackers, pickled asparagus, fresh spinach leaves, and pickled beets. I had a couple swabs of cream cheese on two of the crackers but it was just easier to not. I had 5/6 bites of some potato salad, then a couple handfuls of Fritos. Drank coffee the way I like it and was done by 2:30 pm. I will see if I want husbands potato skin as he's having a baked potato and steak. I get the skin and maybe a piece or two of steak with the drippings. I might just hold off until tomorrow with that. Took a heavy nap at 9:45 to about noon. Getting up at 5:30 am is taking its toll! But my body automatically awoke at 5:30 am so that's good. I usually don't stir until 8 am. Husband said the last two night have been quiet (snoring wise) so sleeping on an empty belly really is helping me. I would rather feel the ache of emptiness, than gurgle and have heartburn.👍🏼
Hugs ladies!

Barbara- the greenhouse is a kit that has the cover. I had bought two, thought they were the exact same ones. Turns out that the new one that I was just going to use the cover from, is twice the size of the one I have been using. I put half of the new one together and now the cover fits perfectly and I have twice as much room plus two extra shelves in the back.
I will get potting soil at Home Depot.
I will be planting this week if the rain too much. I already planted some things in my hydroponic system on my kitchen table.3 -

@Anniesquats100 … how are you doing?
@Lagopus … so nice to see you post again!
@drkatiebug … sorry for your losses.
But well done on the workout classes!
Machka when did mfp stop the friends thing?
Back when the Newsfeed was removed. We can still make friends, but it's not easy to communicate. I guess we could send messages, or maybe post on each other's profiles??? Not sure. I don't think people do that.
When the Newsfeed was removed, MFP encouraged everyone to support each other in the Community on these forums. :) We can be friends here!

Lisa, I feel you getting rid of stuff. When we went up to Longyearbyen in November, we only took along things we were absolutely certain would use, from computers to clothes to kitchen gear. It was heaven! Everything fit in the available space and was easy to find.
Now that we're back home, I can't unpack and put things away because there's no room for them. I feel I'm drowning in faded relics from my past. So, while the spirit is willing, I'm girding up the flesh to toss or donate everything I can.
The apartment we lived in up there had an induction stovetop. It took some getting used to, but once I learned how to use it, I loved being able to boil a big pot of water in no time. Now I'll struggle to readjust to my ceramic stovetops here and out on the island. Patience, Penny, patience!

Long day today!!
Traffic has been crazy lately. Under "normal" circumstances, it can take less than 15 minutes to get from our house to where I park my car and catch the bus. When it's a bit busy, it might be 20 or even 25 minutes. Today, it took 50 minutes. 50 minutes of inching along.
And that was just to get to where I park to catch the bus! I knew I had missed my usual bus, but another one should be along in 10 minutes. 35 minutes later a bus finally turned up.
The arthritis in my feet has been playing up badly so I ordered some new shoes that are supposed to be good for people with arthritis in their feet. 4 pair!! They were originally about $190 but on sale for about $35. I will be sending 2 pair back … they actually put pressure on the most painful spots!
Today, I wore one of the pair I'm keeping. The first half of the day was mostly fine — just a little bit of pressure on one of my most painful spots. They're leather and I think they just need to stretch a bit.
But at lunch, I decided to change them for an older pair I've got under my desk which I've used to walk around outside. The older pair haven't been overly comfortable, but today I added insoles and changed the lacing pattern so they've improved a tiny bit. I wore them with low cut socks and unfortunately, the socks slid down, and my heels rubbed against the back and developed blisters.
So when I got back from lunch, I changed back into the new shoes which were great around my heels, but they put more and more pressure on the really painful spot in my left foot.
At the end of the day, I went out to wait for my bus and discovered that there had been an accident on the road my bus uses and the whole road was closed. Other buses were coming, but not mine. So I decided to walk, but there was no way on earth I could walk in my new shoes, and no way I could walk in the shoes I wore at lunch!!
I limped up the road to the Target and got there about 10 minutes before it closed … grabbed a pair of shoes and some socks and limped out to find a dry spot to sit down and change my footwear. The shoes are kids shoes … or more specifically, size 6 youth shoes. For some reason, size 6 youth shoes fit me better than ladies shoes. They're runners (sneakers) but they're a kind of stretchy knit material, and it felt like I was putting on slippers!
And then I walked to my car … a little over 4 km. The shoes were pretty good but my feet were already in a lot of pain.
I was dressed in work attire (dress, light cardigan) and everything I was wearing was absolutely drenched - it was warmish and extremely humid out there.
Traffic didn't return to normal until I was nearly at my car and it was about 7:30 pm by the time I finally got home.
My poor feet feel completely trashed. I'm going to have to see a podiatrist or something.
But I'm so glad to be home! I haven't moved much this evening … me and my chair and my footstool and Midsommer Murders.

Machka - That sounds like a truly awful problem with your feet, and terribly painful. Hope you can get seen quickly! I loved Midsommer Murders so much, but it's stayed with me, so I know who the murderer is each time the moment I see the faces. Ah well. Am about halfway throught the original CSIs set in Las Vegas, and I know I saw them when they first came out, so apparently my retention is about 15 years, and then "poof," gone! 😀 I can watch MM again when I'm 75, I guess. 😹
Allie posted on FB last night about 6:30 p.m. her time to say she was on her way home; I'm sure she'll check in here soon. Hopefully sleeping still…
Quiet day planned today. Finally got a mental breakthrough on a purse construction - was looking at them in the thrift store yesterday and picked up one that had the same type build on the sides, and realized what I needed to do. Ideas come from everywhere…
Working on my next script this morning first, so it won't be on my mind while we're out on Friday/Saturday.
Hope it's a grand day for all,
Love y'all!

😀 As I finished my walk last night, I saw my neighbour sweeping her driveway and I stopped to talk to her. I see her come and go from her house to drive to work but haven't spoken to her since Jake died. I thought she might have heard it from another neighbour but she hadn't heard. We had a long talk while Annie watched us through the living room window.
😀 Finally cleared out one bookcase and took time to polish it with orange oil. Now I have a bunch of books that Jake wanted given to friends. My next step is to sort them and box them and mail them.
😀 I've started pulling weeds in the area outside the fence where I planted pumpkins last year. It is slow going but I've cleared a section for the gladiola bulbs that I dug up from the back yard. I had to move all the bulbs from the area that Annie kept running through. I bought potting soil so as soon as remind myself about how to plant the bulbs, I'll get busy with that. I can work in the yard for about 30 minutes at a time and Annie can entertain herself. It's still cold here, but with the right clothes and garden gloves, it's comfy. I keep changing my mind about what I want to plant in the rest of the area and in the two raised beds. Fortunately I can't plant until May so I have time to think about it.
😀 Penny I'm reading a book about Svalbard and thinking of you. If I were younger, I'd be inspired to spend a few years there.
😀 Allie Add me to the list of people who are urging you to take it easy and not let anyone lure you into "helping". It's time for people to help you. It's hard for givers to be comfortable as receivers but it's time for you.
😬 Machka, Sorry to hear about all the troubles with your feet. You continue to inspire me with your bravery and resourcefulness.

Good Morning Ladies!
I was up at 5:23 am, took shower and dressed its now 5:53 so I have until 7:15 to sip coffee and fiddle fart around on my tablet until we leave for the gym. Husband started the laundry, didn't know I wanted a shower, but I waited until it had started agitating to start. My showers are like 5 minutes long with this short hair. The piercing holes in my ear lobes are almost healed. With this short hair its fairly easy for my earrings to get snagged on my towel etc, so I have chosen to let them close up. This is after I had gotten those replacement earrings too. I might save a small collection of my favorites and those gold ones, for Athena to wear whenever she decides to have her ears pierced.
My routine is quite quick in the mornings now! As I was sitting here, all bright eyed I don't feel 62. Its been a long time since I have felt this good.
For those of you with dry sky get Gold Bond's body lotion for crepey skin. My skin is literally drinking it up!
Today I have a half of a large apple in the fridge I need to use, as well as celery so chicken salad it will be. I might have my husbands potato skin with some cheese and the rest of my sour cream.
Well be well, and have a good day! Allie rest up!

I love how your brain works and solving some of your bag creations!
I am hoping no one is in the weight room because I will be moaning as I do my 10 each of the machines. No pain no gain!
Husband and I watched that 1990's series "Moonlighting" and amazingly we knew what was going on, kept on saying "I remember that part"! We couldn't watch it. With the old shows I don't know what is more entertaining, the car chases with cars as big as boats, or my husbands ad libbing the dialogue😁.

I know I don't comment every day. Sorry.
I am SO excited today.Headed to Raleigh, NC today for the annual Stampin' Up! annual convention for the next five days.
Imagine your favorite hobby. Now take 3000 of your best online friends getting together in one city for five days, doing that hobby. Now make sure you have someone on the outside with bail money! HAHAHA!!! OMG! Flying out at 230 today; arrive about 6pm. I'm rooming with an online friend from AZ. I can't wait to meet another OL friend from NY and another from TX. OMG… I could hardly sleep last night!!! It feels like Christmas.
Anyone nearby? We don't have anything going on tomorrow morning, but that's about it. Hit me up on FB. (Carla Letch Cooper… if we're not already friends. I probably won't check back on here, sorry, but I do not have a car. Staying at the Marriott Raleigh.)
I'll probably be a bit incognito for the rest of the week… again. LOL, but I'll share pix when I get back. Don't go crazy without me. (I'll take care of that for all of us)
Love and Blessings!

I had a rare shower this morning, and .… washed my hair at the same time! I used my husband's shower, which is very spacious. Took me ages to recover, with toenail cutting, hair drying, lotioning, etc etc, but I finally came through. :-)
I then found one of my hand painted cards to send to my ex. His infection is proving v stubborn and he has lost so much weight. They are doing an MRI. How miserable for him.
I'm determined to make it out to Cercle Francais tonight, so I'm getting myself out of the house early and popping down to M&S. I need to buy 1st class stamps too for the card. Then I'm going to a Korean restaurant for their excellent sushi - a rare treat. John doesn't eat sushi. My back and hips have been a bit sore, so I hope they hold out. I was doing my exercises at 5.40 this morning! No formatting, as the shower etc took the cream of the day.
Machka - my every sympathy for your feet. Mine used to be agony, but are not too bad now. Arch supporting expensive trainers and daily exercises. But I don't walk as much as you.
Now to get face on and get on that bus.

Machka, your day sounded absolutely horrific. Glad you finally made it home.
Barbara, thanks for the suggestion of "revenge Cheetos." My key lime cheesecake still sounds better. BTW, I haven't said before, but my friend's name is also Barbara. Her funeral will be Friday afternoon. This is so petty of me, but I have a hair appointment tomorrow at 11:00 and I was worried they would schedule it for that time. I make my appointments 2 months in advance and they are a pill to reschedule. I would have, of course, rescheduled, but I am glad that I don't have to.
The MFP change that is taking the most time to get used to is the automatic double space when you hit enter. I'm still hitting enter, enter, backspace to get it right. I'm also finding that it is much easier to do this on the computer than on my tablet. Getting names to bold takes more effort than I really want to expend on the tablet.
Penny, welcome back. It's good to see you posting.
I hit 10,000 steps yesterday for the first time since my knee flared up the day after Thanksgiving. It felt good to be back.

Machka - so, so sorry to hear about your foot problems. I hope you can see a podiatrist ASAP. When my foot doc told me a year or so ago to cut the walking way down, possible stress fracture, THAT got my attention. Was your DH worried that you were late?
The power of nature - I've been watching an Andrew Huberman interview with Roger Seheult about how to enhance our immune systems. This whole interview is over 3 hours long - I want to watch it all but need to break it down into smaller chunks. However, at 28 minutes in, Seheult talks about how spending time with trees and nature is so beneficial. Actually the first half hour hits on many things, including why sunlight is so powerful:

Allie ~ Glad you are home and hope your healing goes well!
Heather & Rebecca ~ It's always interesting to read about the meals you two are preparing! Must admit I have to research some of the foods Heather serves as I just cook the plain old Southern food I grew up with.
Machka ~ Your poor feet! Prayers and hugs you get some help.
Penny ~ Glad to hear from you!
I lost my Facebook login again when I cleared my history! Finally found an old pass word that would allow me to create a new password. This took HOURS of trying to have Facebook send my phone a code (which it never sent). Anyway, I am determined to keep the new password so I can clean my history as needed.
