Re - You are doing a great job with the low carb, I really think it's a neat option. My own DH passed away a couple years ago and since then, it's been easier to keep the sweet stuff and junk food out of the house. During the last year of his life, his appetite waned and I did everything I could to get calories into him as he started losing weight. A box of donuts, ice cream, chips, you name it. He'd nibble and then he was done, didn't like the taste or something. So I'd finish it up.😔 Now I'm pre-diabetic so those foods are a definite no-no. Kudos for continuing the clean out in your home. I want some of your energy!

Allie - So happy the kidney is ticking right along for you. Think of you a lot. 😉

Barbara - hope you are feeling better today. You didn't happen to get a weird Caesar salad at that restaurant, did you? 😣 😁What Re said about rubbing alcohol - I read about that too, haven't tried it but keep it on hand.

Debbie - is MIL stabilized now? Very sorry to hear about Okie. What seeds are you starting? Hope you had a good birthday dinner!

Tracey - wow, the northern lights were spectacular, thank you for posting those photos! Have a great time with Kaitlyn.

Heather - Do you think Edie is a mini-you? She's so interested in everything and clever in many ways. Understand your feelings for your Ex. Is he in a hospice situation?

Several years ago, when I read that a boyfriend from decades back had passed away, I felt a pang. We'd talked about marriage, but both had gone on to have lives with other people who we loved and our paths went different directions. But I really did want to see him and get a hug one more time some day. Just for a minute. 😪

Michele - happy to hear Vince is getting out and walking a bit. Ever hear anything from Annie?

Yoga - do any of you do yoga on a regular basis? I remember Katla did it several times a week and could get up off the floor without using her hands. Impressive!

Hospital charges - Got an email from my insurance company. That heart monitor charge…. $9000! ACK! Medicare and insurance knocked that way, way down, and thankfully my portion is only $212. I think I've just about satisfied my deductible so should be nearly done for the rest of the year other than an occasional $20 co-pay. Funny thing though, I keep getting emails from the hospital saying to apply for financial assistance (I think they send it to everyone on their email list) and in the body of the text they said they are often able to get the charges way down or in some cases, eliminated. That's a good thing for people without insurance for sure.

Seeing Dr. Lisa tomorrow about my lower back/SI pain. The way it feels this morning, I must have been pushing stones around at Stonehenge last night. 😁 T is going with me, then we'll have lunch at our favorite spot in town. I might get a REAL Caesar salad this time.

Weekly Check-In reminder for tomorrow. I might be late due to a busy morning.

Had to look up Sweet Gum Balls and Monkey Puzzle Tree. Here are the pictures. The Monkey tree can grow to 90 feet high! Here is a picture:

I’ve seen these Sweet Gumballs before but never knew what to call them. Here is a picture of those:

Here are the Meme’s I tried posting yesterday. My internet is a bit slow, I think that I didn’t wait for them to completely load before I did the next one. I will try again! This one for the haircut joke.

Can you tell I am a dog person? 😹

    Thought for today:

Where do Easter Eggs take each other to dance?

    The basketball!

YAY! Allie! Great job! Take your time healing! You deserve the rest!

Barbara - Due to the meds, I've dealt with nausea and UpChucky so long that I have a standing prescription for ondansetron as needed - brand name was Zofran. Developed for chemo patients originally, it's been the only thing that ever helped, and they tried everything else on me. They have them in prescription in a meltaway. It's nothorrible, and it genuinely helps in just moments. Sometimes I'll need it five days in a row, sometimes I won't need it for a week at a time - I've got it stashed everywhere in the house. If your insurance covers it, it might be worth a try… 'cause that episode sounds absolutely horrible. Oh, and you were right, it's a Shift-Enter to get a hard return.

Rosemarie - I grew up with sweetgum trees, and as soon as they drop, those sweetgum balls are lethal to barefoot little kids. And little kids whose brother has great aim! My mother tried to vacuum them up with a combined vac/leafblower thing, and it shaved the things, and spit the shaved balls right back out - couldn't grind them up! Not my favorite tree, and wouldn't plant one anywhere near me now.

Don't think I mentioned that I decided to rearrange my work room again. Need as much natural light as possible for the videos, so I moved the camera tripod to the outside doors, and that made for a complete shuffle of the room - that and I needed better access to my ironing board…

I was able to bring the longer table in so I could keep my art easel up all the time, as well, which makes me happy. I love being able to bounce from one type of project to another.

    Onward and upward, kids,

Hope it's a great day for all… keep chugging, Allie!

    Love,
    Lisa in AR

Heather, I totally understand the feelings about an ex. I feel like that toward mine. If he needed me, I would fly out there, but like you, mine has a new wife(no kids). Cant change feelings.

Question for those with plantar fasciitis. Do both feet hurt about the same intensity and does it feel like someone is hammering a nail right into the center of your heel?

    Thanks!

    Lisa-The bathroom looks great!

Michele-Drill a hole of you want it there. YOU live there, not the contractor.

Yep, I remember Lee's leg massagers with the Velcro. Don't forget to hug a pillow if you need to cough. Course you know all that being a seasoned veteran with your heart. Now were they bypass heart procedures, or stents put in there, I can't remember.

Do you have cute doctors? The doctor Lee had was a gal that looked like a teenager! Poor me called her a nurse, "we're waiting for the doctor to make their rounds". Her reply with a grin, " I am the doctor"! I think I went out for a coffee out of embarrassment!😂😂

Keep up the great recovery work! Take your time!

Pretty amazing that they cut you wide open on a Saturday and send you home with "anti-rejection" drugs for an entirely new organ on a Tuesday!!! God Bless this "new" medicine! So happy for you, Miss Allie.

Lisa, I wish I HAD a craft room. Well technically, I could if I wanted to. I have a room in the back of the house, upstairs, but it's away from everything, (mainly hubby, the living room, & all the excitement) doesn't have a cable connection and doesn't have the beautiful view that I have looking out at my backyard. I'd feel so secluded. So, I really like my kitchen set-up. I'd just like it a whole lot better if it was a wrap-around desk and "closet" organizer sorta thing. Oh to dream!

    Happy SonDay!

    Love and Blessings

Is it wrong to tell you he looks like he's been driving for years!😁😂

Some kids have that look. He doesn't look 15! He looks like he's about ready to head to college.🤗🙃

Well my semi new haircut is really easy. Yesterday I had washed it, put on some mouse' that holds things in place up top a bit. Today I just ran a washcloth over my head and combed it back in place. On the bad side I need to do "something" to it every day, as sleeping turns my do into a cartoon character! But the good side is no blow dryers are involved.

Today I need to go to Wal-Mart and see if they have any swimming suits. Fun times. I spent most of yesterday looking online for suit I liked and either #1 they were a tankini type of suit with a top and bottom, #2 they only went up to a specific size, or #3 they looked too complicated and "strappy". I just don't want to wear the suit I have that I kinda fall out of bust wise. I need to lose like 20 lbs to safely wear the thing. I want to make an impression at the family gathering, but not that way!!😂😂🙃

Wish me luck in the suit quest!

Carol - your grandson is very handsome with his haircut. Looks very capable in the driver's seat. He is sure growing up fast.

Heather - glad your Ex is doing better and you heard from him. Will he have to remain in the hospital for that dialysis? I think I got him mixed up with your brother who had the cancer surgery. Last I recall, he was doing well?

Rita - yes, the monkey puzzle gets tall and spreads! As it grows, it will eventually drop lower branches which are like spikey and sharp. I managed to pick up some seeds. Evidently these trees are used for lumber in South America. The lumberjacks must have to wear heavy leather aprons and gloves to handle the limbs.

Lisa - it's been an experience watching chicken tunnel videos. Some of the creators are standing the the shadows while filming. Your videos are A#1! You have a very nice craft room configuration. Does Egg approve?😁

Rebecca - good luck on the swimsuit search. I think they have some really cute styles these days, crossing fingers you'll find something you like.

Allie words can’t adequately express how happy I am for you! I’m even doing the happy dance, lol! Margaret said some very wise words! This definitely your time and your family needs to realize that and not place any demands on you!

Heather, it makes perfect sense to me that you would still have feelings for your ex if for no other reason than he’s the father of your children. I’m glad you contacted him and that you heard back from him and hope that he continues to rally.

    Trying to catch up!

Allie … I especially like what Margaret said here about the precious gift that you have received and the need to honor that gift by taking care of you.

Gum balls … never knew what they were called! Learn something new on here all the time.

Rebecca … good luck on the swimsuit quest …my least favorite shopping to be sure.

The sun is shining here near Buffalo!! Makes everything better.

Rebecca - Try H2O wear. I worked in pools for many ,many years and they are the best I have found. Not cheap but they are fully lined and guaranteed for a year against pool chemicals. They come in lots of styles but not a big choice of colors and prints. My favorite for me is the scoop back tank. Good luck.

Allie - so glad you are doing well.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

    Thankyou
MIL has ok days and then she has days like yesterday- argued with the nurse that came to do a blood draw(she wasn't very good at it), the staff at the care home, dh when he got there.

She was mad at the staff because when they tried to get her to take some Tylanol, she told them no, when dh got there she told him that she told them she wanted it but they wouldn't give it to her, then said, no water.
Same thing happened with the food yesterday. She said she was full so they took it away, then she complained that they took her food so fast. He told her she had told them to, she just said "I know"
The requested Trazadone for her for nights. Dr didn't really want her on it but gave a script for it anyways. They will start with 1/2 pill.

She doesn't seem to care if dh is there, as long as he brings her the food she requests, then he can leave.
They will give her the food she asks for but that isn't good enough. He has to make a special trip across town to bring it to her.
He had said he would skip today but said he felt guilty so went over anyways.

I started a few different kinds of peppers and tomatoes yesterday in the house. I will start the rest of the seeds in my little green house in a few weeks, Sooner if I get it cleared out and the new cover on it..The one that came with it only lasted 2 yrs(not quite. Had holes in it last spring but not bad-totally trashed now)

Birthday dinner was ok. Parts of the dinner were really good- the samosas were a hit with everyone. The lentil soup that came with mine along with a thin sesame cracker was very good. Was not a fan of all the little sides that came with mine.
    Pakoda and Samosas
    Chicken Momo
    Chicken Thali
    Beef Thenthuk

    Hello,

I’ve been on fitness pal for many many years, and I think this is the first time I’ve looked into joining a community. I’m about to turn 55, and although I am generally a healthy person, I am really struggling with menopausal weight gain. I’m looking to find support from and give support to others who are going through the same thing.

I’ve fallen out of the habit of logging my food intake and activity on fitness pal and am recommitting! I’ve gained about 35 pounds over the past 8 years and I need to up my game.

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to walk alongside me on my journey 💕

I have read some books lately that some of you might like. These are all non fiction.

Life on Svalbard by Cecilia Blomdahl——this is a new book that I found at the library. It has big beautiful photos on every page and a narrative that ate covers a year of living in Longyearbyean. If you like pictures of the Northern Lights, this book has a lot of them.

4000 Weeks by Oliver Burkeman—how to make the most of the time you have

Meditations for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman—-practical thoughts and suggestions for making your life better

Let Them by Mel Robbins—how to approach your own responses to people and events that trouble you.
