Allie - best wishes all goes well.
Nice spring day here. DD should land in Las Vegas in about 15 minutes. The arborist was supposed to come finish pruning the apple tree but got hung up with a hay delivery at the stable she manages. She just does tree stuff part time now.
I need to go out to check on critters and feed the old mare. A friend is coming over to help. It will be fun to chat with her.

Wow! I hope all goes well.

You can use backspace to delete.
In playing with things here, I've used backspace to delete stuff … and have tapped once too many and deleted something I wanted, and had to redo it, but it's all a learning experience.

Just peeking in to see what is happening! Wow! Grandmallie! Terrific news! Keep us up to date on what is happening! Speedy recovery to you! I am so pleased for you!
Going along well here in Middle GA. The boy across the street helped me with pine straw for an hour! LOL..there is still pine straw on my front lawn! We will finish it up tomorrow! And I hope to get to Zumba at 8:30 and then tomorrow afternooon will make a lasagna and have my son and his wife over for dinner! We will have a painting session!
Yes, my son does engage when we discuss his interests. And I do try and keep up with his interests! Sometimes i go to ESPN.com and read up on the sports and this helps! And he and his wife have a new house, so there are discussions about Lowes and Home Depot! And Yes, I also have shared jokes from this blog with him and they are always a big success! So keep the jokes coming!
I canceled my lawn service! I am so pleased. I have about 4 weeks I believe to find a fireman or some such person to help me with the lawn. The grass has been over cut! I have almost lost my front lawn from this! The county extension gentleman is helping me. He wants to me to get a soil sample and then use Zenith Zoysia seed. Which I purchased! I might even see if I can get the lawn mower I have working. I don't think I could pull a cord. I would need to get the starter fixed! I am pretty relieved that I don't have the lawn service anymore!
I did some North Star activities today: For me that is knitting, reading and listening to an audio book and caring for the dog! Amazing how days can go by where one is caught up in some business or computer glitch situation and the quality of the day deteriorates!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA

Did a 20/40/60 workout today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a yoga DVD
Flea – no, I didn’t see the explosion. It took off from Texas this time. The next launch from here is scheduled for this Wed. but at 12 midnight to around5 (the window). We’ll probably go out around 12, usually they liftoff around the earliest scheduled time
Vicki – good luck on the interview
Mo – we’ll be here for about 2 more week
Today is the first day I was able to work on getting rid of these white legs. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, too. Jess came in today. While we were waiting for her train to come in someone in the parking lot cried out “call 911” We did, but fortunately someone who is a nursepractitioner was there. It seems the lady had a seizure but I’m not sure that’s what it was. She kept going in and out of consciousness and when the ambulance came for her she was acting really strange...very clingy and you couldn’t understand her at all. Well, I’m sure they took care of her
Still have the bandage under my arm so it’s a royal pain. But it’ll get better
Yea...we change the clocks tomorrow. Yippee!
Allie – awesome news! Don’t rush your recovery, tho
pip-I had no doubt that you’d be back on top in no time
Went to dinner tonight at this steak place. Jess likes her red meat. Just had salmon, decided to try the chili which was good. Instead of fries had broccoli & carrots. Only water to drink. BUT I did have apiece of cake for dessert.
Going to the fundraiser pancake breakfast tomorrow and then the guy is coming to deliver the vanity and tile for the bathroom
Gotta run

My friend B's son lives in the path of the cyclone in Australia. Luckily, it has been downgraded to a tropical storm. They are on higher ground, so safe from likely floods. B didn't know anything about it when I texted our group to ask. I expect her son didn't want to worry her! It was all over our news though. She is going out there in April for a longish visit.
Edie this afternoon. 🤩
Our duck was nice yesterday, but I preferred the M&S one for flavour. We have enough left to shred for ciabatta lunch today. Having Lamb Tagine tonight. Hairy Bikers recipe. It has garbanzos, sweet potato, dried apricots, tomatoes, honey etc in it. Broccoli with it.

Mine isn't doing that, and so far I haven't been able to get it to do that.
Questions:
Are you using a laptop? Maybe your keys are sticky?
Have you checked your Accessibility settings? You might need to enable or disable your filter keys.
Have you checked your Keyboard settings? You might want to lengthen your Character repeat.

Predictive Text:
for about the past 6 months, when I go to type text, the laptop wanted to finish the sentence for me. So I was constantly hitting the back space key. What a nuisance. For the past few months, I've looked all over on how to get rid of it and could never find out how. The problem was I didn't know what it was called! Yesterday I dinked around and finally ran across what it was - "Predictive text". It was easy to fix, YouTube had the answer. That's one of the problems I run into with these upgrades - if a person doesn't know what they are called, how can we be expected to find the fix? I really wish Microsoft or whoever invents this stuff would run their updates by me for beta testing, I could easily point out the flaws that could aggravate the consumers.
I quite like predictive text. I have it on my phone and I can type whole texts, emails or posts here by typing a character or two. 😃
Occasionally I wish I had it on my laptop too, but my typing speed is much faster on my laptop so I probably don't need it.
Machka—I am resigtered with one employee office and I have an interview tomorrow at the other one in town, I do think a lot of it is when they interview and find out my age.
Vicki
How do they find out your age?
We don't put age on a resume. Seems to me that people used to do that a long time ago. Now it's considered a big no-no.
They also recommend that we only go back 10-15 years on our resumes unless there's something that specifically applies to the job we're applying for. So for us, age clues such as high school, early college, etc. won't be on the resume.
In the interview, they are not allowed to ask our age.

My husband also faced age discrimination. They notice age when they meet the candidate in person or on video. It's not hard to determine within a few years. Companies are hesitant to hire someone near or in their 60s, at least in the US, I guess because they figure they won't get much time out of them. It's totally illegal, but nearly impossible to prove. However everyone we know our age who has been on the job market in the US faces it

Sorry to hear that!
There's a push here to keep hiring older people, especially since we can't get the age pension until 67 now, and there's a threat that the age might increase to 70.
I would have trouble guessing someone's age. I can usually land it within a decade but it would be hard to guess if a person is 61 or 56 or what.
And there are things a person can do to look a bit younger … even just standing and sitting tall.
But a few years ago when I was changing jobs in my early 50s, I observed what business women in their 40s looked like and I dyed my hair, changed my foundation, stopped using other makeup, lost a bit of weight, and got some nice dresses. Basically, did what I could to look about 10 years younger. 🙂
I've also been learning, learning, learning as much as I can. Technology and things change so quickly. If the last time you did something technology-related was 5 years ago, you're out of date. It's challenging!

Today, I did my Birthday Ride to celebrate turning 58 tomorrow (or the day after depending what part of the world you're in).
Warm with strong sea breeze. I did 58 km + 1 for good measure. 😀
Happily, I've lost 5 kg since my January 60 km ride which made things a bit easier. Still tiring, but easier.Distance: 59.02 km
Elevation: 230 m
Moving Time: 3:07:50
Elapsed Time: 3:27:57
Calories: 944
……………….. Avg …………….. Max
Speed ……… 18.9 km/h …… 39.5 km/h

Let myself get too hungry and tired yesterday, gorged on Wagyu burger and onion straws, triple salted, then chocolate brownie thunder ice cream with butterscotch topping. Result? BP and WT down. Go figure.
Debbie, the very happiest of birthdays to you! ((hugs held extra long))
Lisa thanks for trying on the colors. Guess I’ll just have to explore the new emojis. Ctrl+Enter in MSWord on my Windows laptop gives a page break. Enter gives a new paragraph. Alt+Enter either deletes or inserts prior input ? SMH Shift+Enter might give a single spaced new paragraph, we’ll see.
Lynn in NC, what is it that you do that you come in for at 6am? Congrats for staying on track and committing to getting fit!Rebecca and Lisa you both have glowing skin!
Allie prayers said for your safe travels and successful transplant. Keep us posted when you can. 😍❤️ 💟(((hugs)))
Lanette, plantlets might be suffering from a few days of neglect, I’m a little afraid to lift the lid… we’ve had blue sky sunny 50+F false spring days but starting Sunday we’ll be back to wind, rain and highs in the 40s so too soon to put anything out… That chicken Caesar with no romaine and with thighs instead of breast, no way. Is this a restaurant you frequent? Would you consider a gentle word with the manager? I hate “predictive text” (damautocorrect too) especially on my phone. What you said about knowing what these “features” are called- it’s key. You’d be a great beta tester!
Michele sorry the cyst is giving trouble, could it be surgically removed?
Tracey cute piggy bank twins! So sorry to hear new glasses have to be postponed. Hope no headaches result. ((hugs))
Kylia does your heart doctor know you’ve recently gone down to zero % nicotine?
Mo Brava for being able to get back up again after your fall, proof of your commitment to strength and flexibility training. Hope no bad after effects from the fall and thankful that Rosie was able to cheer you up.
Machka it’s almost tomorrow in Taz so… Happy Birthday! Please help me understand about "code block"?
Carol wow! Mullets are back? SMH. Only saw one pic so you must have fixed the duplicates. You GO gal!
Margaret yours to Rita and your friend. Love and boundaries and not on my worst enemy. Thank you.
Evelyn yours to Allie. IMHO Kyle is a disaster waiting to happen.
Pip Atta GAL!
Was it Tracey or Mo who said “sitting is my enemy”? Mine too so up and at ‘em!
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Mullets are back?
Barbara
Mullets have been back for at least 3 years … possibly more. They were featured in at least one summer and one winter olympics. 🤨
Check your Keyboard Shortcuts. They can be customised and if they were customised at some point, they can be reset if you want.
You can find the Quote under the paragraph symbol on the left. I used the Quote above.
You can also find the Code Block under the paragraph symbol on the left. It's under the Quote symbol. If you click the Quote symbol you'll get Quote (as above), Code Block, and Spoiler.
If you select Code Block, it should work for typing code.

Did a yoga DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a pilates DVD.
M - my husband ALWAYS complained that before anyone rolled out an update, they never user tested it. You can no longer ask for references on an application. Too many companies have gotten burned. All you can say about an employee is "I can confirm that he's been employed here from x until x". Happy birthday
Flea - my guess is one of the reasons companies don't want to hire someone in their 60's is because they'd have spent all the $$ training an employee only to have them retire and then they have to retrain someone
Barbara - they don't surgically remove the cysts. The lance it and then (to me) squeeze the living daylights out of it to get as much "goop" as they can. The one on my back is almost completely healed Today I changed the bandage on it, and it looks a lot better then it did yesterday. So it'll just take time
Allie - really awesome news. May God be with the doctors and nurses. Remember to take time to heal. You don't want to mess these kidneys up, it's not worth it. You'll probably have to take some sort of anti-rejection med for the rest of your life, but it'll be worth it.
What I used to do was keep my notepad open, write my response, minimize it and continue reading. Now if I do that I've noticed that I have to go back and respace it. Also some of the words run together. Maybe it isn't like that on my desktop. I'll find out when I get home.
