I'm not sure that it currently has the capability to do so, and even if it did, the database of food, by large majority, does not have micronutrient amounts recorded to be tracked. So you could use the app to track your magnesium and other vitamin intake if you check every single entry you use and make sure that the amounts are included and are accurate.

    Hello Adrianna,

Mfp just tracks what you eat. It does not make a plan. In the over all scheme of losing weight, Macros do not matter. A calorie is a calorie to your body. To lose weight you have to expend more calories than you consume. So in order to lose weight you only have to total the calories in the food.

Macros come into play in that it can affect how you feel during the day. Carbs digest quicker. proteins and fat are slower and fiber doesn't digest at all. Fat is denser in calories so the fattier the food the less you can eat of it. You have to experiment to figure out what works best for you.

Personally I focus on protein and fiber. My carbs and fat fall where they may. This allows me to eat the volume of food I am used to but with less calories. I don't ever feel like I am deprived or missing out on anything.

Keep in mind that people here are just like you, people. You should still do your own research or hire a nutritionist that you can verify the experience of.

    Good luck.
