mmatcha latte-Congrats on your fantastic job! I am beaming proud of your hard work! Way to slay, chickie!

Today I finished 6 months with my ED coach through ANAD. Woo Hooo!

https://anad.org/ They offer free support groups, too, if you are interested.

It was bittersweet. She was very helpful, and has been a great resource/ support person. This is year 38, I have struggled daily with Binge Eating Disorder. Granted, I have made some serious positive strides. I am going to go Eating Disorder Clinic Outpatient again in May I believe. I need a larger toolbox for my "f-its". Being in an Eating Disorder Clinic is being in a very supportive environment, yet it is a lot of hard work and looking inside. You don't have to deal with all of the real world pressures in a way that you have to when you graduate. The support and encouragement are amazing. Then you get to practice what you have learned in the real world. You'll find out real fast your weaknesses and strengths.

What I have learned is to ask myself," What do I really want, instead of the food?" This is after I have eaten in moderation or not. I use hunger and fullness cues at every meal. I'm learning to rely on intuitive eating more. I try to problem solve, since this is more effective. My problems don't magically disappear when I overeat or binge. I stopped restricting for good.

I want to focus on my recovery, taking daily micro actions that lead up to something, overtime, big.

For anyone who has disordered eating, this log video is helpful. https://dranitajohnston.com/the-log-video/

My ED therapist is moving on to another job in two weeks. She gave me the homework assignment:

1)What positive things does your body do for you?

2)Have your body write you a letterโ€ฆwhat would your body say to you?

3)Write a letter to your body. What do you want to tell it? What do you want to forgive? Do you have any amends to make? Your body's mission is to keep us alive. What are you thankful or grateful for?

Focus on sitting with feeling any icky feelings and let them pass. Sometimes this can be really hard, honestly. You are strong enough to get through it though. I will let you know when I have completed these 3 critical tasks.

I am still seeing my Relapse Prevention Therapist.

Unfortunately, it went back to cold today. I can't allow how I feel to stop me from exercising. No choice, just execute. Usually if I am not exercising, my eating plan goes south. I want to exercise at least 6 days until the end of the month.

C'mon April. I welcome you! Happy Spring everyone!

I'm hosting a movie night tonight. I tend to host them about every 2 weeks unless things get too busy (April I'm only hosting it once). All my girlfriends come over and we potluck all the food. We pretend to watch the movie while doing a lot of talking and just enjoy each others company. The kids run upstairs or outside and my husband checks on them once in a while to make sure no one is killing each other. There are about 3 kids aged 5 to 7 and the rest are 10 to 13. So they can mostly watch each other. I have been stressing out because this will be the first one I've hosted since starting to wear the Dexcom. When I told a few friends that I was stressed they offered to bring some lower carb / sugar options. So not a bunch of noodles, rice, potatoes, and desserts. Part of me feels bad because I worry they are giving up stuff they wanted. The other half of me had to admit that I have an amazing tribe that is willing to help me through this hump and figuring out what I can and cannot do.

@kiteflyer105 I like your homework assignment. I've been struggling with an almost fear of eating since I started wearing a CGM last week. Watching the numbers go up and down has been causing anxiety for me. I had a friend essentially lay out the same type thing for me on Sunday. When she saw me and I was having a meltdown. She also said to really think about how far I've come. How much healthier than I was in the past, even if that past was 15 years ago. Not skinnier, not weight, not all the other numbers. Just how much healthier in an overall sense I am. What I can do physically or where my mental health is at too. Because it all ties together in the end.

    Good morning everyone!

    Saturday weigh in days
    Christina
    36 years old
    5'4"
    SW: 220ish
    Re-SW (Feb 2022): 200.4
    UGW: 150
    2025 goal weight: 160
    SW 2025: 179.7

    ๐Ÿ€ March Goals: ๐Ÿ€
    ๐Ÿ€ Goal weight (average): 175
    ๐Ÿ€ 3/1: 178.8 (average)
    ๐Ÿ€ 3/8: 179.5 (average)
    ๐Ÿ€ 3/22: 179.8 (average)

I've been stressed lately, so I've been making bad choices, but last week was the worst weigh in I've had in a while. I'm back, we're going to work on it. I've got a cruise next month, my best friend's wedding a month and a half after that, and a beach vacation 2 weeks after that. I'm going to meal prep out loud here, so that I actually do it, and then we'll tag party.

My cat lost me my post just now, I was almost done with it! Little butthead likes to chill up on top of my desk and press his little face against the keys. Knew I shouldn't have let him up there. Oh well, here we go again.

Alright, so 4AM. I'm up. I used to do protein coffee, and I stopped, for some reason lost to time. I'm going to start again, so that I won't be tempted to do a sweet treat in the morning.

    ~120 cal, 24 g protein.

oops, I can't do images in spoilers. Gotta fix this, MFP.

I get to work about 6AM. I do a little pot of tea with stevia, no calories, love my little ritual.

    0 cal 0 protein

About 630-7AM, I'm feeling hungry. I did greek yogurt parfaits with fruit and 1oz nuts this week, which was good, but my stomach does not like the milk, so we're doing a frittata this week. Found this recipe on reddit.

    ~200 cal, 21 g protein

    Quiche:ย
    1.5c egg whites
    5 eggs
    350g cottage cheese
    65g feta cheese, crumbled
Any amount of frozen spinach (drain it of water first)
Whatever other veggies you want to add... I add fresh tomatoes and fried onions only)
That's it! Bake at 350F. I brush a little bit of oil on the pan so it doesn't stick.

I've tried not to be a snack person. I'm not that person. I need a snack. About 8-9AM, I'm thinking about eating lunch early. Need a snack. So. I've got lots of protein bars.

~200-250 cal, depending on the bar, and ~16 g protein.

Lunches! I'm really feeling a big honking chicken breast with one of those entire boxes of steamed vegetables right now. I'll be paying a premium for the boxes as opposed to buying in bulk, but we can pay a little extra for the week and see how it goes.

    Chicken breast (187 cal and 35 g protein) + box o veg (~100cal depending on the box and 4 g protein) =

    287 cal and 39 g protein

After lunch, it never fails, I need something sweet. What with all these events coming up in my life, I've been doing one serving sugar free jello to try to resurrect my brittle, peeling nails, with 1/4 cup of whipped cream. I'm not a jello person, but the whipped cream redeems it.

    36 cal and 1 g protein

In the mid-afternoon, I usually have a slump. This is prime sugary treat time, so I'm going to replace that with a tall iced tea with a fun syrup. Going to bring one from home, @pamperedlinny I have given into the watertok girlies philosophy on this, I know you liked these too, lol.. picture outside the spoiler because MFP hates me this morning.

    0 cal 0 protein

So that puts me at ~900 cal and 101 g protein, which are good numbers going into dinner. Dinners TBD, need to check my pantry, but with numbers like these, I'm not worried about protein, and I just have to keep dinners for me between 500-600 cal. I do need to plan those. But I'll be back to do it, every moment this post is here is another moment for me to do something silly to lose it

    image.png

My big beautiful rack of sugar free syrups for coffee and iced tea.

    Okay! Dinners!

    No images, sigh.

    This one's easy, a KFC bowl: 450 cal, 35 g protein.
Taco Tuesday: 210 cal 32 g protein for two tacos, + sides TBD
Honey garlic meatballs, I'll have to prep this weekend: 337 cal and 39 g protein + veg for another ~50 cal
Egg Roll Skillet, 238 cal, 14 g protein
Friday Night Pizza Night, Kirkland supreme cauli pizza, my favorite: 310 cal 14 g protein for 1/4 of the pizza

    Tag party time!

@jenbroussard71 I love playing games, I've actually got D&D tonight, looking forward to it.

@KeriA AFTERNOON TEA WITH THE QUEEN ๐Ÿ˜‚

@kristinwoods919 I hope you get to the bottom of what's been hurting you. It would be too bad if it was chocolate, as it's in so many things, but it would be good to know. And the experimentation that comes after to find alternatives will be fun!

@MelissaA7677 welcome! Looking forward to hearing more from you!

@Pherren12 welcome! I will say, when I was doing just resistance training, I was doing Stronglifts 5x5, although these days I might recommend the LIFTOFF program, I've heard great things. The bigger thing I want to stress here is, if resistance training makes you happy and excited to do it, great! If something else does, also great! I do pole dance and chair acrobatics, that makes me happy, it is a workout, and I have been doing it for years consistently. It's all about what you'll stick with long term.

(this is not me, but it is my favorite pose, lol)

    image.png

@mmatcha_latte YOU'RE DOING SO GREAT AND I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!! ๐Ÿคฉ

@nebslp MFP is making changes to forums and I don't like it, lol. I'm here! Thank you for the friend request, but I literally only come here for forums, I use MacroFactor to log my food and weight.

@kiteflyer105 3 lb a month is doable, and your way to get there sounds good! You'll make it. Nice hearing from you. ๐Ÿค—

@pamperedlinny you're back! Welcome back! I'm looking forward to hearing about book club and your recipes again!

@Reckelton Starbucks does make it so hard to diet, lol. I haven't been in a long time as a result. Or to Dunkin, which is more my vice- their dunkalatte is kryptonite to me, and it's back on the menu, lol.

Off to get ready for the gym this morning- chair dancing choreographed and then a cardio/flexibility mashup. No idea what I'm making for dinner yet, despite all the planning I've literally just done, lol. I'm going to figure it out when I go to the store with N after her gymnastics class. I've got to make my grocery list based on what I'm doing, tooโ€ฆ

Have a great Saturday, everyone! Let's kick it!

    Shoot, missed the second page!

    @rorymason YOU'RE BACK!

@kiteflyer105 I like all the internal work you do. It's inspiring. I should do more of that, myself.

@pamperedlinny believe me when I tell you this: if one person in my friend group has restrictions, I am HONORED and it feels FUN to bring things they can eat and enjoy, and I feel like a good friend when I only bring and eat what they can. My sister just got diagnosed with adult onset type 1 diabetes, and I am thrilled to only bring what she can eat and eat only what she can as well, for myself. My mom sat there and ate french fries in front of her, while she and I had our jerky and our peanut butter balls, lol. And that felt good for me to do. So believe me. Your friends want to do it and be there for you.

I ended up making eggroll in a bowl for last night. It was really good. I'm going to have to add it into our regular rotation for dinners. I did make Jasmine Rice too, but only had a half serving of rice. Everyone else was able to eat that with it if they wanted.

@CupcakeCrusoe I LOVE your beverage station. You know that's one of my favorite things to jazz up my day. Also, I definitely appreciate when people make it easier and ready things with me that I can enjoy. I also don't mind if someone with us gets fries.... but that's easier too if they let me have 2 or 3 just so I can get a couple bites and not miss out. Then again, I can't ask to steal a few unless it's someone I know well.

pamperedlinny_Do you think broccoli slaw would be good in an egg roll in a bowl? Yours looked good. CupcakeCrusoe-Thank you for your kind words. I don't enjoy all the excess work. I have disordered eating, so does 50% of the population. I know how to unhealthfully lose weight, but I want to be healthier. When I was on Weight Watchers, I could lose 10 lbs a month. I can't currently walk 1.5 hours for 4x a week.

My larger goal is to have normal eating without all the diet culture noise in my head. I will get my emotional needs met in other ways, instead of numbing my feelings. I will have a notebook of tools and skills, I can useโ€ฆSometimes I feel weird for posting this, but I know someone can partially relate.

I think my hardest lesson to learn will be body neutrality. I am not pushing product. My therapist introduced these to me. I wish I would have known about these a long time ago.

I think the hardest part are the skills I needed to learn younger were stunted by my BED. NO time like the present. Lol.

    I wanted to check in!

It's been a slow weekend and I'm enjoying the down time. I haven't even read a book. ๐Ÿคฃ So much doom scrolling and lying around. What my daughter's volleyball team had a hard loss on Saturday, it was needed to give her some one on one time. We watched all 5 Twilight movies again. Now we're on Vampire Academy. She's been reading Shiver, which is full of werewolves. Can you tell my daughter's current obsession? So many Vampire and werewolf things she wants to watch.

My husband isn't being as lazy. He's setting things up for the garden. We're expanding it this year... more tomatoes and peppers. More herbs. So excited for fresh strawberries. This year he adding arugula.

My job is to help as needed and to cook the food. He's in charge of everything else. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ But with his gardening skills I made a lot of fresh salsa last summer.

@kiteflyer105 I think broccoli slaw would be fantastic in eggroll in a bowl.

    Good morning everyone!

178.1 this morning, pulling the average down again! And we will keep pulling it down! No reason to give up. (I mean, plenty of reasons to give up, but cruise and wedding and vacation lol.)

I read something interesting this morning about the role exercise plays in weight loss (warning, some language):

    https://physiqonomics.com/out-diet-sedentary-lifestyle/

This tracks with my general experience: trying to keep a deficit while being sedentary is torture. You mean to tell me that just being on my couch, steps away from my fridge, watching TV, I'm not going to eat more? Lol, lmao even. Been there, done that, gotten every possible shirt that way. It's awful. Every time I convince myself I can do it I fail. Because I feel hungrier when I go an extended period without the gym, or without hitting my step goals.

@kiteflyer105 I'm so glad you're working on it. Finding a healthy way to be is so important, not just for the results, but for the process. That itself is valuable.

@pamperedlinny I love that your daughter's revisiting the hits, lol. I went through that phase myself, I remember it fondly. I still rewatch Buffy the Vampire Slayer about once a year, haha. I'm not looking forward to the bugs in the garden, but I am looking forward to fresh tomatoes and blueberries and peppers again ๐Ÿคค

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Good morning everyone!

178.4 this morning, things are going well for me so far. Pulling that average down here in the home stretch of March.

Keeping myself busy is helping. Yesterday I took my car to get an estimate for detailing, dealt with insurance about it, called my elected officials, reheated some leftovers, uploaded some of my music to my Plex server, went to a trail advisory council meeting, came home while listening to a great podcast, and went to sleep after watching some budget cooking videos.

Keep busy. That's key. So. Tonight is Taco Tuesday, I've already got the meat prepped, I've pre-logged everything. Go home, make tacos, clean the house to prep for cleaners coming tomorrow, go really fast to warm up, then stretch for my splits at home while watching something. Becauseโ€ฆ

I have to cancel on the gym Thursday. I have a union meeting I forgot about. oops.

Tomorrow will be similarly busy, what with various N appointments, then I think I'm going to get going on my bestie's takeout containers for her wedding cookie table, which I'm spearheading. Gotta start packing for the cruise, too.

    Busy!

    Have a great day, everyone!

I'm not actively trying to lose weight, but since I'm back to actively tracking and trying to keep my blood sugar under control, I'm seeing a downward trend. It's a nice side benefit. I need to remember that I'm focusing on other parts of my health though and not to stress when that eventually snags. I've gotten way too hyper focused on those numbers in the past.

Speaking of my other health stuffโ€ฆ I finally got a message yesterday to schedule my MRI. Unfortunately, it's not for 2 more weeks and my scan is at 6:30am. Ugh! I was offered another day instead with a more reasonable hour, but it would require waiting another 5 days longer. I took the first available appointment. Once it's done and reviewed I know my doctor will still take up a week to do her part and schedule whatever comes next. My labs were first done on March 5 and the abnormalities were posted by March 7. So by the time I get back with her it will probably be 6 weeks before next steps at the earliest. I know in the scheme of things that's not too long, but in the midst of it I feel like it's forever.

I do have a busy week though. That helps with keeping my mind off everything. Today my daughter and I are getting our hair trimmed. Our hairstylist is a great friend. She's going to come over and do it at the house, so I'll get a visit in as well. Yay! Tomorrow my daughter has volleyball practice at 5:30 and then I have book club at 7:30. Thursday is my daughter's chorus concert. Friday I'll have a free night at home, but with my daughter's friend spending the night (they play on the same team). Then on Saturday there will be the volleyball game and a different book club.

Did I say I'm now in 4 book clubs that meet in person? It's always a lot going on but a lot of fun with them.

@kristinwoods919 It sounds like you are crushing your goals! Great job!!!

@CupcakeCrusoe I made something new for dinner last night and I know you enjoy the recipes. For the record, I saw about 5 similar recipes online, realized I was missing some of the ingredients, and just winged it from what I had on hand. It turned out really good though! Just note that I didn't measure the herbs or spices. I'm thinking it was about a tbsp of balsamic and maybe 2 tbsp of EVOO. But it's a guestimate since I wasn't blogging it at the moment.

    • 3 sweet onions, sliced thin to medium
    • 2 chicken breasts (I seasoned this with additional salt, pepper, garlic before adding to the dish)
    • 1 head of garlic
    • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
    • Italian blended herbs (I had a bunch frozen from my gardenโ€ฆ parsley, rosemary, oregano, basil)
    • Garlic & Onion Powder
    • olive oil
    • balsamic vinegar
    • smoked paprika
    • salt & pepper
    • 4 tbsp cream cheese
    • 1 bag baby spinach

In a baking dish toss together onions, tomatoes, herbs, oil, vinegar, seasonings. Cut the top off the garlic head and nestle it in the center of the dish. Nestle each chicken breast into the onions on either side of the garlic. Drizzle a bit additional oil over the garlic. Cover pan with foil. Bake at 400ยฐ for 60 minutes. Remove from oven. Stir in cream cheese and spinach until fully incorporated and spinach is wilted. Should be about 4 servings.

Love the comments in this group. I'm new today. My goal is to lose 50 pounds and then rethink it. Since gaining weight, I have struggled taking it off (approximately 15 years). I'm 62 yo with a slow thyroid and gave up working out daily back then. I have tried meds for weight loss, weight watchers (I think is a great plan), weight loss clinics, etc. I would lose weight and then stop it and gain weight back. ๐Ÿคจ I have decided to do a calories in/calories out method and move, move, move (at least four days a week for 30+ minutes each. I feel this is something that can be used throughout life. Motivation has picked up since my goal to lose weight, but in the past it has been very, very, low. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ. I am hoping my goals will stay strong so I can have some success losing and keeping it off. Loving the warmer weather, able to get out and walk now. That's a great plus!

    Thanks for this group!

    Good morning everyone!

178.8 this morning, still below my average, but less low. So. I know my calories have been on point, my movement has been good, we're just going to ride it out.

Yesterday was Taco Tuesday, and I ran out of tortillas, which gave me an excuse to use a leftover baked potato to make one of my favorite taco bell dishes at home for less calories- cheesy fiesta potatoes! I didn't deep fry the potato, only spiced with some taco seasoning, and put salsa con queso and a little sour cream and hot sauce on them. Delicious. Love it when I can make something I love for less calories and scratch the itch.

Today is lots of appointments and helping out my bestie with wedding planning. Everything's going well with meals so far. Tonight's dinner is egg roll skillet and I'm going to do something to actually relax, as opposed to the last couple of days that have been a little hectic. I'm going to do either video games or puzzle, not sure which yet.

    @kristinwoods919 look at you go!

@pamperedlinny interesting! I see a lot of recipes these days bake the cheese along with the veg that needs roasting, sounds great though.

@voni763 welcome! I too am loving this warm weather, makes you want to get outside! Looking forward to hearing more from you!

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Good morning everyone!

177.9 this morning, we're doing it, we're going.

I didn't get to relax as much as I might've liked last night, but when do I ever, haha. I did play some infinity nikki, and they've got a new season going on, so it's fun.

Egg roll skillet was great last night, I got to call my bestie to talk about wedding plans and drama, and she promised me that her mom would bring me a pavlova from my favorite restaurant, tatte, which is a little far from where we'll be, around wedding time.

Today! Work, then I'm going to get a treat for myself (a Hardee's lemon strawberry biscuit) that I've worked into my day, then take the kids home, leftovers for them, union meeting at a local pub for me. Luckily the pub has steamed shrimp, one of my secret weapon foods, which allows me to get the biscuit- shrimp is so great for low cal and high protein.

After the meeting it will likely be bedtime. Tomorrow's Friday! Tomorrow I have a dance party at my gym, and I can't wait for that.

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Happy Thursday!

I live outside of Greenville, SCโ€ฆ between working, doing all the things, and watching the wildfires spread, it's been a long week already. Thankfully, I think we live far enough out that we won't be evacuated. However, my husband works a bit closer to that area (we live 30 or 40 miles from the fires at the moment) and he said his office smelled like smoke all day. That's really not great, especially as he works in a hospital complex. There was ash falling on downtown yesterday too. The wind is blowing the other direction today though, so not as bad today. Fingers crossed we get rain soon. It's disconcerting knowing people that are evacuated and seeing the haze in the sky, even from my neighborhood.

Last night was the first time I went out in a group and had to figure out what to eat without making a big fuss about it. I hate being the special order or the only one not eating or whatever in those situations. I don't mind asking for something instead of rice if there is an option for it already on the menu. I just don't want to cause a stir either. We went to a local brewery and food hall for book club and I asked the woman at the Thai-Viatnamese Fusian spot for lemongrass chicken and mixed vegetables. She told me the mixed vegetables was really a salad, not a stir fry, and was I sure. I told her I just needed to avoid the rice and virmacelli noodles because of some blood sugar issues. Immediately, she said I could get the bok choy and mushroom special, with the chicken, and instead of rice they could upcharge $2 for extra of the bok choy and mushroom stir fry. It was soooo good and she was so nice with making sure I understood what I was getting and how it would work for my needs without any sort of big deal. I will admit that entire venue is one of my favorite and everyone I've ever met working there is amazing. The owners are super sweet and only bring in great people. Still, it made my night to just be "normal" and not make an issue.

If you knew that I scanned all the menus for all the places before we went last night. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I sooo wanted to hit up the loaded baked potato place or the Indian place. It was hard to be good, until it wasn't.

Tonight is my daughter's chorus concert. It's the big one they do with all the schools in her district putting their chorus groups together. She's in 5th grade, so this will be the last one like this she gets to do. I'm hoping she goes into the chorus program for middle school, but I don't know if they do the same all district performance when you move up. I think it's just the 3rd to 5th grades.

I'm trying to figure out a dinner plan since we're out the door within 40 minutes of when I get done working today. I should have started the crockpot this morning, but didn't think of it at the time.

@voni763 Welcome! Walking is always my first and go to exercise. I enjoy being at the gym or taking group aerobic classes when I have a friend or buddy. I hate going alone. But I will sometimes just put an audiobook or music on my headset and take off around my neighborhood.

@CupcakeCrusoe You just reminded me I have some frozen raw shrimp at home! My husband and daughter don't love shrimp, but I can always tell them to fend for themselves and throw something together for myself with shrimp.

@mrspuppyface that doesn't sound silly at all. I have had a ton of body dismorphia issues too. When I was really young I was always naturally thin. My mom was a bit obsessed with her weight too and that never helped me much with how I saw myself. Then my hormones went haywire and I put on 100 lbs inside a year without any real changes. By the time I was 20 I was almost 300 lbs. About 16 years ago I officially hit the 300 lb mark and really started working on myself. Since they I have been down to 191 lbs twice, but never stay there (my hormone disorder just makes it almost impossible). I've averaged being between 230 to 240 for 15-ish years though. When I look in the mirror I see that 300 lb person. When I buy clothes I'm still surprised I'm not grabbing a bigger size. It's really hard to see your true reflection when you expect to see the worst. I've been fighting it a long time.

Just checking back in to say Iโ€™ve been consistent for March but that Iโ€™m feeling defeated.
    SW-320 on 2/20/25

    GW- 220

    3/28/25- 303

Another week, with Mounjaro upsetting my stomach, eating in a deficit everyday (weighing and tracking EVERYTHING) and even worked out 5 days this week and didnโ€™t eat back my calories at all. Didnโ€™t lose a single pound this past week not even 1/10 of a pound and Im not on the part of my cycle that leads me to be bloated either. This would be so much easier if I was seeing some sort of results.
NSVs?- Despite being frustrated I stayed consistent today! I did my first strength workout for my arms today and I think I could have chosen a heavier weight than I did! I walked up the stairs at work today, and realized I wasnโ€™t as out of breath!

    Friday weigh in...

    SW: 222 GW: 170

    3/28/25 Weight: 220.4

Not feeling great lately physically so trying to sort things out. Mentally doing a bit better and trying to find some part time work. Retirement sounded wonderful but I think mentally, I need to do something social a few days a week. Fingers crossed!

@kristinwoods919 Way to go! Impressive :)

@mrspuppyface I can totally relate. Love your name by the way.

    @CupcakeCrusoe You are doing great!

    Have a great week everyone.

    Good morning everyone!

Just under 178 this morning, my calories were a little high yesterday, I just kept eating chocolate after dinner. The meeting was a bust. Did play some more infinity nikki.

Tonight! Dance party at the gym, and I'm trying to keep my calories lower throughout the day to have a treat or two tonight at the dance. Plotting on my skinny mixes spicy margarita, and whether or not I want to add alcohol or just pretend. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just pretending would give me 70 more calories for treats!

@mrspuppyface I think you've got a great plan and attitude for the long term, which is the right way to be- this is a marathon, not a sprint. I've been in this thread for five (!!) years now and been maintaining around my current weight +- 10 lbs for most of them.

@pamperedlinny I hope the fires get no closer to you, and that everyone in their way doesn't suffer a lot of damage and no one gets hurt. I love when a waiter immediately and without drama gives me options. ๐Ÿ˜Š And enjoy the chorus concert!

@rorymason the most fun and most difficult part of retirement- what to do with all that time! Can't wait to hear your journey about it, as I'm looking forward to that myself.

    Have a great FRIDAY everyone!

    Morning all!

The school concert was great. I loved seeing all the kids and how big they are all getting. Most of them don't even look like kids anymore. I'm was not prepared to be seeing most of the 5th grade girls looking like teenagers already and most being between 5' to about 5'5" already. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Were we all that grown when we were 10 or 11????

Tonight my daughter's friend is spending the night again since they have a volleyball game in the morning. They asked for spaghetti for dinner. Also, we usually celebrate chorus or strings concerts or big events with a trip to Sonic for a milkshake. We didn't go last night so that the girls could go tonight tonight. My sugar stayed around 170 to 180 all overnight and just for some reason hasn't gone down at all since about 8pm last night. (Both a blessing and a curse having the CGM.) I told my husband I'm not sure how to manage both pasta and ice cream within 2 or so hours of each other.

Our last trip to Sonic I was high for what seemed like hours with a random weird spike about 4 hours later too. He gave some suggestions that I'll probably take. The one good thing about venting to my husband about my diabetes is that he gets it. His mom and his aunt both had severe issues with theirs and he was their caregiver for years. His dad and uncle passed away and he was the oldest kid. So when his brothers grew up, got married, and moved on, he stayed home and dealt with all the appointments, medications, his aunt leg amputations, and all the rest.

Tomorrow is volleyball and then the fantasy book club is meeting at Taziki's Mediteranian Cafe. Since it's a chain with locations throughout the US, I can pull up the nutritional info and check the calories, carbs, sugars, etc. I'm thinking the Shrimp Feast plate and instead of the rice and salad with dressing I can swap out for grilled veggies and grilled asparagus. Then I'll still allow the pita side that comes with it for a smaller amount of carbs.

@ Mandi98U Iโ€™m sorry to hear about you struggling with Mounjaro. How long have you been on it? I keep hearing that this one, Ozempic, and other diabetic injections can cause stomach issues for up to the first 6 weeks until your body adjusts. Currently, Iโ€™m only on Glipizide pills daily. I know there is a chance if my sugars donโ€™t start coming down that we might be looking at those type medications too.

@ rorymason Almost everyone I know that retired either ended up getting a part time job or starting a serious hobby that takes up some time and mental effort.

@ CupcakeCrusoe Dance Party at the gym sounds amazing!

    SW 2025: 179.7

    ๐Ÿ€ March Goals: ๐Ÿ€

Almost back to the average I started the month with, lollllll. It's okay.

    image.png

Just kidding. Or am I. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Meal planning! It worked so well last week, let's do it out loud again this week. I'm going to be trying to clear our fridge and freezer as much as possible for the next two weeks before our vacation.

Tonight! Sushi from our favorite place. Gotta eat super light the rest of the day to make room, because we like to get the sushi boat. Mmmm, looking forward to it.

Meal prep for the week: chicken sausages and vegetables for lunches, a similar cottage cheese and egg frittata as I did this week for breakfasts. I still have plenty of protein bars for snacks, and I have enough jello mix and whipped cream that those things are fine. I've also got bags of chips and or popcorn for backup. So nothing needed for my work prep from the store, look at me go.

I have plenty of ground beef/hamburger patties and chicken breasts in the freezer, so I'm planning dinners around those.

Tomorrow night! cheese biscuits with some leftover ground beef in the fridge, and veg.

Monday! Gym night for me, need something quick and easy- going to do barbecue chicken in the crock pot to put in tortillas for chicken wraps.

Tuesday: Chicken casserole, using leftover barbecue chicken

Wednesday: cheeseburger skillet? I'm going to make it up as I go.

Thursday: another gym night. Either leftovers or dragon noodles with ground beef/hamburger patties as the protein.

Friday: pizza night, we've made it to the end of the week!

So of the things I've just listed, the only thing I might need from the store is barbecue sauce, egg white carton (so I can use up the yolks from last week, when I couldn't find a carton of egg whites), and more dr. pepper zero sugar for me and Whatsisface. He drinks a lot, I take one when I need more caffeine than my one cup of coffee in the morning. Other than that, I think I can scrounge up enough from my fridge and freezer to either complete recipes or change them to use what I've got. So that's nice.

Next, after N's gymnastics and grocery shopping, I need to start packing for our vacation!

    image.png

    It's coming!

@pamperedlinny it's so nice that your husband really gets what you're going through. Also, those all sound like great traditions for your kiddo. โ™ฅ๏ธ

@kiteflyer105 small habits DO lead to big results, and I'm positive you'll do amazing. You're really working at sustainably changing your life, and you can do it.

    Have a great SATURDAY, everyone!

    Good morning everyone!

178.7 average this morning, officially have lost .1 lb this month average, lol!

My cottage cheese frittata is in the oven, a little higher calorie than last week because I'm using up some leftovers in the fridge, and subbing egg whites for yolks will of course always do it.

    Have a great day!

0 weight lost for the month, but it's okay. It's shark week, this month has been wild, most months will be from now on, so it's about finding a way to thrive despite adversity.

Today! Taking the kids to the dentist, crock pot barbecue chicken for dinner, and poles classes tonight to end out the month. I hate going to the gym during shark week, but we can make it.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Keri

    71 years old

Challenge Starting Weight: 260 (May 2024), Pre-retirement weight 262 before May. UGW: 167 (healthy weight for a senior woman my height)

    5'6" Tall

As to weight loss I am hovering in the mid 240s and keep losing the same 3-4 pounds. I am in my smaller aquafit suit since I am down to the weight I bought it at. I have to start the weight loss going again.

    I do check-ins when I lose:2/27: 244.8 (low for February)

    3/5: 245.

    3/31: 245

    *1 session a week of Aquafit (50 minutes) โœ”๏ธ

*1 session per week - long walk (60 minutes) not every week

*4 sessions per week of 30 minute walks and 7 minute exercise for strength, stability and flexibility More like 2 per week and only 1 strength training session

    *1 day of rest

    March Goals:

๐Ÿ€ get out of the 240s No

    ๐Ÿ€ drink more water โœ”๏ธ

๐Ÿ€ keep sugar intake low โœ”๏ธ

๐Ÿ€ keep making healthy meals at home with only 1 day a week meal out โœ”๏ธ except for the last weeks

๐Ÿ€ see exercise plan above No

๐Ÿ€ increase general activity level with cooking, cleaning, gardening going to the basement once a day. Some improvement here

Above see my evaluation of the month. I actually did fine during my birthday week but then we had to do our taxes and they aren't simple. They are done but we ended up going out for dinner more. I logged and it wasn't the calories. It was just not making healthy meals at home. The meals out for my birthday were okay since they were nicer restaurants that make healthier meals. Last week I gained 5 lbs but as you can see as of today I lost that by mostly eating at home. I made this meal I made once before that was so yummy. It was lamb stroganoff with mushrooms and spinach.

The health highlight of the month is I found a great book on health that addresses diet. It is called the Whole Body Reset by Stephen Perrine and is written for those of us over 50. AARP published it. There has been a lot of good research in the last few years that really hasn't gotten widely disseminated related to what works for those who are older. I am just over half way through the book. Basically it says that older people need more protein since our bodies do not process it as well and fiber. We need to keep or improve our muscle mass so it addresses exercise as well. Some of what I am reading I have seen before but this is confirming the science and putting it in a way that helps one follow its recommendations. I knew I needed more protein but have struggled with getting more in my diet. I avoid beef and turkey because they have too much iron for me. My body doesn't slough off excess iron. I have red meat about once a week and as much fish that is safe relative to mercury. I read Outlive by Peter Attia last summer but I wanted more information on nutrition than he gives in his book so this book is addressing that and confirming my own research last year and early this year on nutrition. So I have been working on increasing protein and fiber in my diet. I was already working on fiber by upping fruits, vegetables and my carbs are whole carbs. I have also made sure I am getting healthy fats and staying away from processed foods and unhealthy fats. I have really gotten down to a minimum of refined sugar. What I need to do better on is exercise but I have improved that since I retired. I am just not where I want to be (see above).

I will be reading through some of your posts since I only post when I lose and I hadn't lost this month.

Dark chocolate is really good for you. It is the sugar that is the problem. However they have also found lead in chocolate including some of our leading brands even some of the Seattle and west coast ones I love. Ghiradelli has less chocolate than others and is below the acceptable level (California has information about ingredients in foods). I have chocolate every day (not Ghiradelli). However it is dark and it is sweetened with dates with no refined sugar. I also checked it for heavy metal content. It is expensive. However I do not want to miss out on the benefits:

NIce to see @pamperedinny and some new faces.

    @mmatchalatte nice accomplishment

@kiteflyer congrats on completing ED coaching sessions. Thanks for posting some of the helpful tools you learned.

@CupcakeCrusoe I identify with your story of the worse weigh in. I went up to 250 a few days ago after being out of them (the 250s) for months. However I was starting back down the next day. Phew. I am happy that you are getting back to what works for you. I too am accepting that I am back down to where I started the month at.

@kiteflyer I m not sure I know how to do unhealthy weight loss but I am into healthy weight loss too (I've only lost 20 lbs that way). I had a hard January and February too but I am sorry to hear about your depression. I am glad you are doing better this month. I am really working on my stamina too. I have more to do but am improving. It looks like you have a plan and better weather will help.

@pamperedinny I usually donโ€™t stream. I am a reader. However this month I got stuck on a show and I was so glad when I finished it. I also saw a movie or 2 I had heard about. I am back to reading again. My youngest who is in a program for apprentice carpenters made me a raised planter. So I am going to start growing some herbs. They say if I pay for the lumber they will make me another which I plan to use for vegetables. I usually get too busy to plant each year but with being retired I am hoping things will work this time. I like the idea of knowing what is in your food. Nice that your tracking showed up in weight loss. I like the recipe you posted.

@kristinwoods what nice progress you are made this month.

@voni763 I believe that logging food and tracking calories works but calories in/calories out doesnโ€™t work for me. I find it is what I am eating. I had the same calories a week ago but we had to eat out more than Iโ€™d like. I gained. I am eating the same calories and maybe more this week but healthier whole foods cooked at home and I lost the 5 lbs I gained the week before. It is important to have fruits and healthy fats in your diet and they help you lose along with protein, and vegetables and whole grains and carbs. Exercise is number one for health and longevity but it isnโ€™t that helpful for weight loss. I am careful not to over count the calories out due to exercise. I do think general activity level is important too.

@mrspuppyface Thanks for your inspiring post.

@Mandi98U I have a friend who has Type 2 diabetes and needs hip surgery but she weighs too much and they wouldnโ€™t put her on any medication to help until recently even though that is what these medications were for diabetes as opposed to weight loss. But it isnโ€™t helping much with weight loss. Her Dr said for her to track on MFP and when I was helping her figure out how to log I think she is under eating calorie wise. The exercise will be good for you regardless of whether it helps you lose or not. You can sabotage your weight loss with undereating. I lost 20 lbs on MFP and then hit a long plateau in which I tried everything eating less, exercising more changing up things etc. What worked finally was eating more. I lost another 20 lbs by going slowly back to maintenance calories. I still lost weight and then after a rest of 2 weeks I went down to a more reasonable deficit with a lot more knowledge about how my body worked. But the economic downturn ended and I went back to fulltime work as a fulltime parent so the weight loss effort took a back seat.

@rorymason I retired last summer. I am not at the stage that I have a routine yet. I have a lot to do first. I am thinking about joining a walking group at the zoo more for the socializing and giving some structure to the week. I wish there were more part-time jobs that are interesting. I think it is ideal for parents. Fulltime work was killing me and that is why I retired. I am eating better and being more active. However I do miss some things about working.

My 1st priority today is to get out and get that walk in. I had a healthy breakfast (with a lot of protein) and I have healthy leftovers for dinner tonight. When I get back I may do some meal planning. My 2nd priority is to set up some medical appointments before that. I am hoping to read my Body Reset book too. Happy last day of March. I am getting prepared for a productive April.
