Debbie ~ I can see why you love the wetlands! It must be such a pleasure to see it and you are blessed to be near!

Exercised (stairstepper and then the rowing machine for 15 minutes) and then went to WalMart. Came home and made a taco tater tot casserole for Jess. Not sure if she'll have it here or take it home. Then the soup kitchen. Had BLT (I snacked on some of the ends of the tomatoes) and potato wedges (they are good). Then came home and tried a new recipe for brownie drop cookies which I'll give some to Jess and the rest for Vince.
Mo - did you REALLY have to remind me that I have laundry to do?????
Have a question for you all. Previously, I'd have Wordpad open, write my comment, and continue reading. Ever since the update, when I cut the post from Wordpad, some of the words run together and the spacing is off, What do you all do?

😃 Carol. My plan for the turkey is to use the bones to make broth, use the dark meat with veggies in soup, and freeze the white meat in single serving packets for making sandwiches.
🌞😃 I got an email from Social Security telling me that I have an appointment on April 15.

Good afternoon, all.
Rebecca — Did you notice that the 508 is running once a day now? (I believe that's the number for the northbound Cascades train.) Perhaps you won't have to bus upon your return. Hubby is trying to figure out what to do. He does not want to drive and he doesn't want to take the bus. There is now a north and south bound Cascades train running — once a day (!!!!!) That schedule makes it difficult for him.
Lazy, sunny day today. Looking forward to the weekend, and then back to work on Monday.

Rori - glad you are free to do your regular activities. It must be frightening to blackout.
Heather and Machka - I agree. When I used to take public transit to work it was awful. So many couples arguing, people talking rudely to someone on the phone, the swearing. It was awful.
Heather - that’s a pretty bracelet.
What a pretty photo John took.Lisa - I love that cardigan! Beautiful.
Sorry about the bag. You certainly gave it a solid try.Flea - when I’m at my in-law’s I get dinged for roaming in the States. The cell towers don’t seem to care about borders.
Kylia - what a week! I hope your granddaughter understands that she should treat this like any job that she could be fired from. That awfully irresponsible of her, I would be miffed too.
Rosemarie - my grandfather had a bottle of fertilizer or grass seed, he alternated, with holes punched into the lid taped to his lawnmower handle that way he was always fertilizing or seeding while he mowed. He had a beautiful lawn.
Debbie - sorry you didn’t get your walk in. It will be a change for you not having Jona at home.
The Canada Geese have started showing up here over the last couple of weeks.Mo - I hope you have an uneventful set of shifts.I ended up having to get a new battery thankfully that was under warranty. The Throttle Body was replaced, and that corrected some things, but it’s still not quite right. The repair was almost $700 with the tow. 😩. I’m scared to take it in again.
Heather - What a day you had, happy you had a nice lunch with a free drink though.
That poor young girl with the deaths and fractures.Vicki - good luck with the court recorder job. I bet it would be interesting, I don’t know if my facial expressions would be welcome.
Rebecca - I think it’s good you’ll have a phone next time.What a day you had travelling!
We moved across Canada by bus. Rodger came with nothing but a hockey bag full of his stuff in Sept 1997. Christmas night 1997 the girls, myself a young woman that babysat for me, and 9 pieces of luggage left NB and arrived on Dec 28th, a couple hours later than expected because of a traffic accident involving a moose in Manitoba.
Last night was the last ceramics night with the original owner. I’m really going to miss her. I have seen her weekly, except for maybe 6 weeks since Sept 2021. She is planning a barbecue for us to visit this summer.
It started snowing yesterday and has not stopped yet. 😳
I’m going to be very lazy tonight. I am tired.

Lisa: 🥰 the cardigan in the video. The colours are wonderful.
We are supposed to be having a 50% partial solar eclipse just now, but it is overcast so unlikely to see anything. However, there is suddenly a decided chill in the air🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Not sure paying for Premium is worth it, even though it’s still cheaper than WW. I’m doing the free trial now and other than the Plans (looks like you can only do one plan at a time) and the scan feature there isn’t much of a difference. I am down 2 more pounds! Getting closer to goal (57 down and 38 more to go). Being at healthy BMI is important to me….plus I love how clothes fit me now 🤗

😀 I have been using the free version of MFP since 2009. It allows me to stay focused and honest about my eating and exercise. Even more important is the sense of community I have on this thread. All the nuanced info doesn't help more than the basics for me. Congrats of your success so far.

Rosie - You found us again, I'm so pleased! Very well done on your weight loss, you're doing very, very well. Don't forget that @barbiecat (Barbie) will be posting a link on Monday evening for the April thread, keep an eye out for it! We start new each month with a clean slate…
Terri - Thank you! I'm quite pleased with that cardigan, and probably will be changing my sales website a bit to sell all kinds of items as well as purses. I really enjoyed making it, especially changing the design on the fly to fit how I wanted it to fit and to work. I love having fun with all this.
I think, though, that the next one I make will be sewn, rather than crocheted. I need to give my right-hand trigger finger a rest. It is no more painful than any other joint (they all hurt), but it is trying to curl in, and the distal phalanx (that last bit of finger at the tip) is numb. Makes it hard to grip anything—I've been dropping things all morning. Someone else (Rori?) had issues with a trigger finger. Anyone have any advice on home physical therapy for it?
At the moment, I've got it flex-taped, which is helping me be able to type, and it straightens it while at rest. I only know about the taping because this is how they helped my husband's hand keep from curling inward after he shattered his wrist. They taped every finger like this.
I really would prefer to avoid splinting it, if possible, and the flextape at least lets me use it. And yes, I will get it seen, but Medicare hasn't cut in yet and working with the VA is getting worse and worse.
Anyway… other than that, kinda staying in the house at the moment. We have wildfires all around us - though most are under control, thank goodness… We live in the Arkansas River Valley - I put a small yellow dot there to show us, between the Ozark Mountains and the Ouachita Mountains. The black ones are out or under control, and the red ones are actively burning.
It's that time of year - but yesterday's soaking rain across the same area was certainly helpful, and more coming mid-week.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR8 -
I was MIA Friday - in town running errands then a 2 hour lunch with an old friend/workmate L. It was great catching up with her.
Allie - how neat Tracy is going into the sourdough break making "business". Her loaves looked great! I love sourdough but probably don't eat enough of it to make it worthwhile for me to get into baking it.
Barbie - Happy Birthday! March was a busy birthday month for this group. I just realized I have SEVEN April birthdays coming up for friends and family soon. Stocked up on cards yesterday.
Tracey - snow! Have any of the trees or bushes in your area started to produce leaves? We had a surprise spring snowfall here 3 years ago, most of the trees had substantial leaves and the fruit trees were blossoming. Once the heavy wet snow hit them, branches broke and our favorite pear tree tipped over. Hope we don't get a repeat.
Lisa - glad the flex-tape is helping. Also glad to hear you're getting rain. Seems early in the year to be facing wildfires but seems they get going all year long anymore.
The tomato seeds are sprouting and some have been moved from the incubator to the "nursery" in the garage. If they all germinate I'll have 42. AACCK! What was I thinking? 😁 Most of them are the container cherry types so I'm sure I'll have willing takers. Some of the seeds are 5 years old and germinating just fine.
Make it a fabulous weekend! 😍

Lisa, I had a trigger finger and cured it myself. There are many instructions online on how to stretch and do PT on them. I don’t want another so unconsciously do the exercises when not using my hands. I ‘play piano’ on the table or in the air. I touch the tips of my fingers to my thumb and my thumb pad to stretch them. I also do a couple of Carpal tunnel stretches as well. Here is a site with 11 different exercises:
One night I woke up in the middle of the night in pain, I had straighten my finger out enough to fix the tendon in my sleep! Hurt like crazy for about an hour then my finger worked as it should. I haven’t had any issues since then. I didn’t want surgery on it and consciously and unconsciously made sure I didn’t have to!I did some Yoga yesterday for my back and while doing some of the floor one, I became extremely dizzy and nauseated. Lasted for a couple hours after. Emailed my new doctor and researched online. The doctor replied right away and told me to monitor my blood pressure until my next appointment in 2 weeks to start and will discuss more then. The research all pointed to sinus/inner ear issues. Well, do said I may have to go to an ENT and it looks like that is where I will end up. No more floor Yoga for me, only standing!
Heard from my DS yesterday, he sounded ok but would not get into any discussions about work, where he is staying or even how he is feeling. At least he spoke to me….
Thought for today:
What do you call a magic dog?
A labracadabrador!
(This one sounds familiar. Sorry if it is a repeat. I may need to find another source…)

Did 10 Minute Solution High Intensity DVD then some yoga. Jess and Colby came here last night soI took Ganon for two walks this morning
Rosie FL – congrats on thel oss! What part of FL are you in?
Remember I had the cyst under my arm while I was in FL? Well, the dermatologist up here lanced it again and got some more “goop” out. But he didn’t squeeze nearly as hard as before. He also burned off a (non-Cancerous) mole under that arm. Now I just have to wait for this to heal. Fortunately, it didn’t happen during the summer and I couldn’t use the pool.
I’m feeling sad right now. We only get to see PJ for two days/year and Denise just told us that they’re looking to buy another house and they’ll be busy putting things in storage so we can’t go up during his spring break. She “thinks” she might want us to come up in July to take care of him when they move (that is, IF they move). So this year, if we’re lucky, we MAY get to see PJ one day out of the year. And that is if we are lucky. Maybe I just need to be more like Vince and accept the fact that Denise is just selfish and doesn't think of anyone except Denise.
Jess and Colby went to Ikea to look at some furniture.

Yes, it was a whirlwind travel. On the good side I have the rollaway bed in the hotel room, so my sis has said I didn't have to pay anything.😁. Sleep is not really comfortable but free is free. Yesterday, is the cute town of Sisters Oregon, I bought three books for grandkids, and a book about things to cook in an airfryer.

Wildlife is the best! Thanks for the pics Debbie! My Mom had a pair of nesting loons on her lake and there were swans that came in and out every spring and fall. We had geese and the occasional Blue Heron. Every once in a while, we even had a Bald Eagle soaring overhead. It was quite the magnificent place to grow up and live. As kids, we used to love to dangle our feet off the dock and let the Sunnies nibble our toes. One side of the dock Dad kept very neat and clean for us to swim and the other he let grow natural for the fish to spawn and thrive. Our lake was spring-fed and our uncle, my God-father, an EMT and champion diver, once tried to swim to the bottom of one of the "holes" and couldn't reach it! Pretty cool.

Carol – Jess is VERY focused on her career. I don’t expect any grandchidren from her and Colby. Grand puppies and grand kitties – yes. Grandchildren, I’d be VERY surprised if there were any from her. But that's OK, she still communicates with us frequently
Allie – here’s hoping Tracey feels better fast

Allie - my brother had kidney stones. So painful. They had to give him suppository painkillers. Nothing else worked.
Michele -So sorry. It must be so hard.
I had an interesting day! As I thought might happen, after my long, thirsty, train journey on Thursday, I woke up with a UTI. Grrrr! No doctors at the weekend, so I went up to the pharmacy, where a very nice man said he was very sorry, but he was unable to prescribe antibiotics for me, as I am over 65. Yes, he thought it was ridiculous too. So I got on the bus to the 'walk-in' clinic near the station. Two and a half hours later (!!!) I emerged with a prescription, which I had to take to the big chemists. Phew!
I bought myself some sushi and ate it on the bus home. 😀
Had a nap, then Edie arrived. We painted cards. Hers was a Mother's Day card for tomorrow. This is mine. It will probably go to DSIL.
Off Edie goes to a swimming gala in Hastings!! She said she was tired as she had biked a time trial of 11k this morning.
Then I had to make the chocolate mousses for tomorrow's dessert. My son is cooking the main. So I have eight lovely desserts in the fridge. Then I had to cook the cauliflower for a mash to go with black pudding and haggis for dinner. Oouuff!
Now relaxing with a large glass of fizzy water.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
