Hey kids,
Got a video done, not sure I'll be happy with it, but will leave it sit for a bit before I decide. Working on a project too, of course, and staying inside to avoid the storm that split and went around us at 9 a.m., and may or may not do the same at 11 a.m. Hope everyone's doing OK that's in the path of it north and east of me, like Kylia and Ginny.
I worked myself silly yesterday outside, but it needed doing, and the rain is supposed to be on and off through the weekend, so I wanted to get the first mow done. Paying for the physical effort, but it was worth it. If the rain does show up, the wildflowers and grass would have been knee high by Sunday. By the time Corey gets home in the evening, he's too tired to do a two-hour job…
The physical part was less in the riding around on the big mower, and more on the outside work on the little house, at least the part that's visible from the road. Had to mow it with the walk-behind, too many things hiding in the grass that are invisible from the seat on the big mower. Will be able to maintain it with the big one, but had to get the first mow done at ground level.Still waiting on the city for the next move, but there are a number of things I can get done in the meantime.
Machka - LOVE the poems, and went and followed Bilston on Facebook. Wonderful humor in very tight turn of phrase. Really enjoying your 3D pieces. Love the treehouse in particular.
Lanette - Yeah, it's gone far, far past gutjob and on to teardown, but there are a few legal issues swirling around. For now, cosmetics on the bit that's visible from the road, and the rest will wait. A few months to build up a bit of cash reserve wouldn't hurt at all. If you look at the last picture, that's our wood privacy fence, and it will all be coming down now. Lots of work on Corey's and my part in the offing, but we'll get there, in the end. Just lots of "Patience, McGillycuddy," as my husband reminds me.
Ah, and I looked at the video, and it's a teardown as well, tried out a ring light that I bought years ago. I look like I'm from outer space. You can always tell if someone's using them by looking at their eyes in the videos - they have rings of light around their pupils. Very weird. And if you're wearing glasses, the bounce off of them is unbearable. Life is so hard as a YouTube sensation, you know. 😂 Maybe. I'll let you know if I ever get there… 😹🐈⬛👀

Hello, my name is Jeanette. I live in Phoenix, Arizona. I will turn 50 in August, and have a goal weight I'd like to achieve by then. I have about 40 pounds to lose by then, so I don't know if this is realistic, but I'm not giving up. So far my weight loss has been very slow. I've been consistently sticking with tracking on MFP and staying within my calories and macros. I work out 3-4 times per week, including cardio and strength training at the gym as well as martial arts class. I started getting serious about this health journey again in December. So far I've only lost about 15 pounds. The past couple of weeks, I've been stuck at one weight, and it's frustrating. I know I'm probably just gaining muscle and getting more fit. This is exactly what happens every time I've changed my lifestyle to get to a healthier weight. I'm not giving up this time!

Heather-Yes, the less I go out, the more I don't want to. Although, when I do go, I nearly always have a nice time. It's just much easier to sit around in comfy clothes where no one sees me. Nice photos of your classmates.
Welcome, Janette in Phoenix. 15 pounds is commendable in that short of a time. Sometimes we hit a plateau and just need to change something about the routine to kick start the loss again. Don't give up!
Lisa-I think burning is the best solution for the house, unless you really want a big project. It seems overwhelming for me, but I am not a fixer upper kind of person.
Rebecca-I hope all goes well for your son.
Kay-Hugs to you. That's a lot of stuff.
Machka-I love those colorings. The 3D ones are very nice. I should try that. I like to color and I need something to do while watching baseball. I enjoy puzzles too, but I'd have to contort myself to do them with the house in such a messy state (there are no surfaces where I could put anything down) right now and I am having enough back pain already.
Sending melting wishes to those who still have snow. I can and cannot believe that's still happening in April. Though, we're having weird things too. We've lived in this house for 15 years and have been watching the critters for the entirety of that. This year we've had hummingbirds getting along and up to 10 at the feeders at one time. Usually they get territorial and chase each other away. We saw a finch eat the oriole nectar. And for the first time, I saw a tree squirrel in the yard. We have lots of ground squirrels, but I have never seen a tree squirrel out there. Also, for the first time, I have not actually HEARD the orioles. I saw a couple, but still haven't heard them. And it's been a cold, rainy, and much more windy than normal spring. It's been weird.

Jeannette in Phoenix, welcome! Ditto what Tina said, five pounds a month is VERY respectable weight loss once you're past 40. You'll get lots of advice from others, and I do not want to discourage you in the slightest, I just know that changing my lifestyle had to accompany my change in diet in order to stay at a lighter weight. Hope you took your measurements as well as your weight at the beginning. There's a really good chance that you're continuing to lose inches even when the scale isn't showing a loss!
Tina - Corey and I ARE fixer upper types, and we can't even see any way to fix all the problems in that place, either… really hard to show in two pictures how truly awful it is. Things… scurry when you walk in. The home we live in is 75 years old, and there is little of it that we haven't fixed or plan to fix up. It all needed it. But that little place was built 10 or 20 years later by the same folks that built this one - it should have been in better shape, not much, much worse. But these two optimists know that place needs more than just work, it needs to be burned to the ground or piled into a dumpster and make it an RV space for friends who want to visit.
Heather - Count me into that number, too. My SQ is dead, I killed it and buried it out back. But I still feel like I'm waking from a four-year-long nap, so there's that. Glad you brought yourself to go.
Rebecca - The infusions are what woke me from that four-year-long nap. First the iron sugars, to get the anemia under control, and then the Skyrizi ones to jumpstart a life closer to normal. It sounds as if they're moving him along the allowable drug regimens faster than I was allowed to go, plus he got a MUCH quicker diagnosis. Add that to his youth advantage, and his life should be back to normal quite soon. So pleased they're able to treat him, and hope he gets home soon.
Finally got a video I'm willing to post.
Hope it is/was or will be a grand afternoon for everybody,
Love,
Lisa in AR5 -
Sending good vibes to you all, especially Kay. Wish you and your family peace in this difficult time.
Mo: Have FUN. Hope you playback hard as you work.

Hi everyone;
I got up early and went to the dealership to get an oil change, the tires rotated, and new wiper blades. The total cost was $328.00, including three more oil changes. Car upkeep can be costly. I wonder if the maintenance on your Tesla would have been expensive as well, Barbie. I picked up breakfast but only ate a small amount. I weighed in and lost 1 pound this week. I took a nap and forgot to set the timer to pick up DH. Thank goodness he called. Rose and I jumped in the car to get him. Then he had me talk to his mom. His phone slipped out of my hand and broke. The front shattered. So now he is at the phone place to get a new one. Not a great start. Rose is currently napping on her bed. He should have had a protective case and screen protector. The phone slipped out of the case. We were going to go to lunch, but Rose was with us. It is 84 degrees and would be too hot to keep her in the car. That is so hard during this time of year and summer. Rose goes everywhere with me except at work. I would hate to leave her in the car overnight.
Lisa, I cannot believe a family lived there. That place is inhabitable. That would be pleasant land to raise chickens on for fresh eggs. You could have an ADU built or more farm animals. A vegetable garden would be lovely as well. It needs to be demolished first.
Barbara, I hope you are doing okay. I am sending you tight hugs and prayers.
Heather, I love your candor. You tell it like it is. I love your picture with your friend.
Tracey, I love the dog hanging the missing sign as well. That made me laugh out loud.
Rita, I Love your Hoka sandals.
Rori, Thank you, and I look forward to seeing where you go next. Get healthy first.
Allie, do you have to wait 8 weeks post-operation before driving? That is the rule of thumb for our teens after that kind of surgery. Just be careful and gentle to yourself. You are precious cargo.
Well, that is all I have to say. I need to pack.
Xo,
Mo in Mississippi

🚘😃 Mo. I'm sure maintenance on the Tesla would have been pricey but the reason we traded it in for a Toyota was that the only places that could do repairs and maintenance on our Tesla were more than a two hour drive from our house. When Jake realized that he couldn't make the drive we made an immediate decision to trade it in for a more conventional car with nearby service.

Dr. Katie when my husband died from self-inflicted illness, the doctor who worked with us and arranged for him to be taken off life support said "When a loved one dies, the reason does not matter. It is someone who is gone from us and our lives will never be the same." I experienced the same thing when my SIL died several years prior. She was a wonderful woman but sick with a disease that she could not shake. If people die of cancer or something like that they are treated better-but it is still a death.
Heather - your school group really looks good!
Waiting for another round of the storms tonight. Moderate chance of tornadoes. Storms currently predicted to start around 11-11:30. I am hoping I will sleep through them. One cat will go under the bed, the other will be in my bed.
Take care all,

Dr katie – you’re on a roll now with the weight loss! Awesome. Prayers for your SIL. What kind of morning workouts are you doing that make you more flexible? I’m the most inflexible person on the face of the earth
A guy came here to hopefully give us a quote for landscaping. I’m not sure that I want to stay with the guy we have now. A few of my neighbors use him and they’re very satisfied. So we shall see…
Rita – great shopping
Kaycee – welcome. I’m sorry you’re in pain right now. But keep coming back for lots of support
Went to the nursery and got some more plants. I HATE the juniper the guy planted, it’s so –green. So I dug them all out (about 15), now to plant those plants
Lisa – is there a piece of equipment that will make a hole for a plant. It’ll take me forever to dig these holes. Hopefully, there’s a piece of equipment that will help. A post hole digger won’t be big enough, and I think it’s hard work anyway in this red clay.
Vince’s back is acting up again. So he can’t help me dig the holes, it’ll be just me which is why I’m asking if there’s a piece of equipment that I can even rent. Wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t go to bowling tomorrow. Update: I'm going to call Exodus Works to do it. Exodus Works is for people who are recovering from addiction, etc. They are under supervision, but they do do good work.
Barbie – yea for cutting grass! Just think of the steps you’ll be getting! I know that I usually get around 5-7,000 steps when I cut the grass.
Mo – do you only do step aerobics for exercise? You might want to try mixing it up. I, too, am worried about Annie.
Re – are you going to put tile or flooring in your kitchen? I can’t decide which would be better.
Barbara – how can you leave us hanging? Talk about spoilers! What’s with the water and BBB?
Made chocolate bran muffins for me. Now trying a lemon custard cake for Vince. We shall see how that turns out
Jeanette – welcome! Slow and steady wins the race is all I can say. You’re doing great
Just checked on the lemon custard cake. It really isn’t custardy at all, more like a dense lemon cake. Oh well, it was worth a try. Still...it has good flavor
Making yogurt right now. Subbed for Vince bowling tonight. I probably increased my handicap….lol
Shower and get ready for the gym tomorrow.
Michele

Rita - thank you for showing us your HOKA sandals. I need to get my rear in gear and get on their website. Hope you are feeling better.
Kay - you are a great "techie" for figuring this spoiler stuff out. Thanks for the info on your SIL. Addiction / alcoholism is a tough disease. Sounds like your SIL is losing the final battle with it. 😥
Rori - how are you using the bands while you walk? Yesterday the therapist had me walk around the floor carrying 2# weights - I told her I did this at home all the time. Then she had me hoist 1# weights and hold them above my head/shoulders while I walked and I told her I felt like I should shout "hallelujah!". Gave her a giggle.
Mo - glad your DH made it to your place and sorry to hear about his phone, stuff happens sometimes. 84F is pretty warm! We're still in the 40's and just had small hail and a huge downpour, very typical here in the foothills in the spring.
Tina - interesting the wildlife you are now seeing in your area.
Michele - if you correspond with Annie, please tell her we miss her and wish her well!!

Thank you all for your kind words regarding my SIL. Yes, Ginny, it is still a loss, and her husband and children will grieve - not only for her, but for what might have been if things were just a little bit different.
Michele, I am working out online with with Chris Sequenzia from Healthy Free Life Academy every week-day morning at 9:00. M/W are the advanced workouts and they are rep based, T/Th are the "beginner" workouts and they are time based, and F is Cardio day. They vary slightly from day to day, but the exercises on a given day stay the same throughout the month, but progressing each week with a few more reps or a few more seconds. It is essentially a warm-up followed by 3 or 4 rounds of sets of 4 different exercises - 2 upper body and 2 lower body, then a cool-down. You sign in 20 minutes prior to 9 to see a demo of each exercise and get your equipment set up. Today, for example, we did kneeling lat pull-downs, squats holding dumbbells on our shoulders, then we moved the bands to the bottom of the door and we stood on one leg and pulled the band up and across our body, then we did 12 pushups followed by lateral high knees until the timer ran out. For the lat pull-downs we did 8 reps with one leg kneeling, then switched legs and did 8 more. For the pull-across ones, we just put one leg back with you toe slightly touching to work on balance while we pulled the band up and across. The M/W exercises take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. The T/Th ones are done in 30 minutes, and Friday usually takes about 45 minutes. Usually his wife does the entire workout online with us. He does some of it, but he stops and looks at us to be sure we are doing them correctly. He calls out our names and encourages us. He has all kinds of modifications if you have an injury that doesn't allow you to do a certain exercise. Honestly, these workouts are worth the cost of my membership, in my opinion. Yes, I can do them on my own, but I don't. Knowing the other women are going to be there gives me a level of accountability that can't be beat. i have always felt like I was not doing push-ups right, even with the knee modification. Today, for some reason, they felt right. I can tell my upper body is getting stronger. Hey! Who knows? Maybe I can do them on my toes in few weeks. I always do my planks on my toes and have no problems with those.

Hello everyone, I am back.
Michelle-Step Aerobics is my favorite exercise, but I also walk, and now that it is warming up, I can go swimming. I like to do yoga and strength training for toning. I don't want to be muscular like a man, so I also want to buy a new bike to go biking. I love Zumba and other moving exercises. Michelle, do you like to bake? Have you been back at BK since you got home?
I hope I have more energy tomorrow. I took two naps today with Rose. When I woke up to pick DH up from the airport, my blood sugar dropped, so I drank Powerade and had a protein bar. I felt much better then.
I didn't go back to the hospital to check on my patients. I decided to let it be and relax. DH has a new phone and is playing with it. So Rose and I are headed to bed. I must do laundry, wash my hair, do my nails, and pack. I got to take Rose to Petsmart, too. I am going to miss her. She just helped me locate my favorite flip-flops. I forgot to order swim trunks for DH. Maybe he has some in his drawer. I had only one headache today. Yay!
Jeanette, welcome. This group is great for discussing the ups and downs of weight loss, healthy foods to eat, and whatever else is on one's mind. That helps to reduce stress eating, or we can talk about the situation that caused stress eating. There is a lot of insightful information in this group. We stay away from talking about religion and politics. The latter tends to stress me out. 😅
Goodnight everyone!

Left shoulder update:
Most likely inflamed and swollen bursa.
Had cortisone shot in left shoulder. They mixed it with an anaesthetic so I didn't feel much during or for the first couple hours after. Now I'm sore, nauseated and very tired.
They gave me a medical certificate for 2 days so I'm at home and will be going for a nap. I'm not to do anything with my left arm/shoulder for 2 days.

Welcome here!
I've been losing weight since the beginning of January, and have lost 7 kg (about 15 lbs), so we're on about the same pace and doing great!!
I've been thinking the weight loss is actually happening pretty quickly. "They" usually recommend going for about 0.5 to 1 lb/week. We're about 13 weeks into the year, so a little bit ahead of schedule.
Remember that working out is one of the many things that causes water weight gain. I am my lightest on Saturday mornings, then I exercise a lot during the weekend, and will be a bit higher on Monday mornings because of the water weight gain. Then I gradually lose that during the week.
If you're weighing every day, you may see a similar pattern.

Hi All;
I worked a ridiculous number of hours, today, nibbling on my mostly meat, nuts and cheese salad. The sheet-rocking fairies came while I was at work - so the bathroom and closet areas are now fully defined.
I am kind of excited - because in discussions with the contractor, yesterday, it came up that while they were re-doing the rest of the house, I would need a path in and out of my bedroom… so, I changed up the BR plan just enough to add a door where there is currently a window. It will open to a place that will eventually become a private walled patio area off the master bedroom. It will be lovely for the times that Texas allows us to be outdoors in comfort. I have always wanted to have that space, and now I am going to. Whoot! a walled patio with some raised planters so I can have some viney flowers growing overhead for shade. Maybe wisteria? I will find the perfect thing.
Machka - the poems are fabulous. I sooooo feel the "no news day" concept. HEAVEN!
Jeanette - Welcome. DO NOT STOP. Remember - if all you EVER do is get stronger - that's a big win. There is a lot more to life than wearing a size six. When I was working out and doing the whole exercise thing - I felt so PROUD - and carrying groceries, moving around, was so much easier. I even built my own fence in the backyard - because I could, and I didn't have ten thousand dollars to pay someone else! But, the point is - it's a new life - not a diet. You just have to keep on living it and it will all shake out in the end. I kick myself over and over for losing all that I gained in muscle strength - and as soon as my house is done - I am back to the gym!
Michele - they make some auger bits that you can put on a drill that will at least break up the soil so you just have to scoop it out of the hole… you just drill it in 3 or 4 times in the space you want to break up. Other than a backhoe - I can't think of another tool… For the tile or flooring question - I just don't know, yet. We are going to do a 3D imaging thing so I can get a feel for how it will all look - whatever flooring is in there, there is going to be a lot of it - because I am going to have kind of a "great room" concept - Kitchen, Dining and sunroom will all be one big open space. I think. We'll see what the 3D imaging shows. Since the space will open into the back yard - I may want to go with super cleanable and practical… but, we shall see. For once in my life - I am splurging on what I really want - and having somebody else do the heavy lifting. I may just decide I need stone or some other fanchy thing. Who knows? We'll have to see what the budget allows.
Love all you guys - but, I have sworn to be in bed by 1am latest, so I am going to knock off, here.
Hugs and Love

I laid down for a little nap and slept fairly solidly for 2.5 hours. I did get up after about 1 hour to use the facilities, but had to lie down again - dizzy and nauseated.
Either it was the shot itself … or it was the combination of
- the pain I have been in for the past few weeks
- the restless sleep I've had for the past 10 days or so because I have not been able to sleep on my left side
- the stress I've been under with work (mainly) and other things
- and the pain from the when the the anaesthetic wore off from the shot. WOW did that hurt!!
According to a few sources, it's common for a bursa inflammation to flare up quite badly for the first 24-48 hours after a cortisone shot. Then it should start to work. That's part of the reason they recommend we rest for 48 hours.

Good morning,
Checking in! Ginny? I would have slept through the storms, but a neighbor called to say a tornado was right over us. My phone is set to Do Not Disturb at night and apparently I need to figure out how to allow emergency alerts to come through- ooops. It was actually about 5 miles north of us. We are fine. The sun is just starting to peak, so can't really see any possible damage outside yet. What I can see looks like a few more small branches down but minor! I am ever so grateful that my DH finally (after 15 years) listened to me about a whole house generator!!!!! Power went out at 1:00 AM. It is nice to not be worried about things.
Re- I love my vinyl plank floors in my kitchen and laundry room. They held up with a German Shepard and a Great Pyrenees running around on them. I don't have to worry about water damage like laminates. Easy to clean. Did get some that actually has like wood grain in it, so it isn't even too slippery when wet. It has been down over 15 years! I am thinking that we will be using it again when we redo master bath. My bath has tile which is beautiful, but man is it slippery when wet. Not a good idea for a blind man! I love that you are fixing it up the way that you will enjoy!
Michele- Yes, as Re said there are drills with bits that will drill up to a 1 gallon hole. My mother used one many years ago to plant about 50 azalea bushes at her home in NC. Great exercise, but a lot of work!!!!
Heather- Lovely group of ladies!
Mo- Some days are just rough! Enjoy your time off!
I am not weighing right now! Childish yes, but …. wants to jump between 134-137 every day. So for now, concentrating on walking, water, and protein! Making the best choice I can in the moment!
Welcome to the new ladies!
Hugs to any who want or need!
Prayers for those asking!
Respect for everyone's journeys!
Grateful to share in all of your lives!
Must get ready for work, work, work,, ugh. I did do paperwork sitting outside on back porch last night. It was warm, breezy, and peaceful!
Much love,

Machka - Soooo much sympathy. I finally figured out how to prop myself in the bed so I couldn't turn over, because every time I turned onto my right shoulder, it woke me from the pain. I've been a side sleeper all my life! Figured out that, with my knees over a large pillow, I simply can't turn to either side while I'm asleep. I can now sleep on my back without ever turning one way or the other, for up to 9 hours. Eventually, I guess we'll have to get one of those beds where the head rises, and the knees rise on the mattress itself, but they're just stupid expensive. That knee pillow and propping my head and shoulders up on two pillows has kept me from waking up hurting because of my shoulder, though.
Yesterday, the promised rain never got to our house, though I heard a thunder bumble or two in the distance. The system just split and went right around us.
But with the crews all out working, it meant that Corey was called out just as he was finishing dinner last night to fix one of the trucks that broke down over in Oklahoma. He didn't get back 'til long after I was asleep - and then was gone to work this morning before I woke up.
I really do hope it's a light day for him, the rain will bring all the crews back to the shop, and they'll send the guys home. Hard for people to break equipment when they're not using it.
I was just looking at the storm system that's about to inundate me, and I don't think this time it's going to split and go around - this is one of the largest coherent systems I've ever seen, and stretches all the way from Rita in New Mexico to my sister in southwest Oklahoma through me in Arkansas, Kylia and Ginny in Ohio, Beth in New York and Allie and Annie in Connecticut and Delaware.
Kinda brings us all together, you know?
And leaves us all damp.
Ah well.
There are worse things.
The thunder and lighting are just beginning now.
I do love a storm. 💖 Egg, however, is not thrilled. 🐈⬛🙀😾 She keeps looking at me like I can make the thunder stop. Gonna be a long morning for my kitty.
Hope everyone stays warm and dry and safe!
Later, my dears,
Love,

I have a large V-shaped pillow on my left side which prevents me from turning that direction, and a body pillow on my right side which I use like you do. I curve it so that it is a pillow under my knees. Then I have smaller pillows which hold my head in place. It's OK, but only for about an hour before I'm restless.
