😀 Hello, Laura, this thread has been a lifeline for me. Most of us don't worry about friends. We chat with everybody on the thread and find a joyous supportive community. I read this thread every morning while I eat my breakfast. I eat the same breakfast every morning so I'm not bothered with decision fatigue. My morning exercise is walking my dogs and then walking by myself. I get into my walking clothes immediately so there's no excuse for not going out. I have clothing for all weather so every day is a beautiful day for me.

Lisa - so sorry to hear about your car, of all the things. And Corey on the road. Hope you can get it all figured out.
Michele - I'm not sure why business appears to be down. Could be a regular spring thing? I noticed the new Honda dealership in town is offering cut rate oil changes for all models and makes plus tire rotations! I have a hunch they'll find lots of little things that need attention and point the customer to the new/newer cars on the parking lot. 😉 If I was the sales manager, that's the tactic I'd use.
Welcome Laura! What Barbie said! This group talks about everything, not just weight loss. I guess you could say we support each other in all aspects of health - physical, emotional, you name it. Keep stopping in, we'd love to get to know you better.
Heather - enjoy your day to yourself. Isn't it fun to look at those old photos and see how everyone is now? I'd be like you - no interest in talking to about 80% of my former schoolmates, though I do like to keep up on their news. I liked them fine, just not much in common with many of them. The ones I am interested in I have friended on Facebook so keep in touch with them just fine that way.
My hometown: Last night I came across a video about Bremen, Indiana - the town where I grew up. Many of the folks that are interviewed here are children and grandchildren of my former classmates. I can see the family resemblance. There were 99 in my high school graduation class.
If anyone is interested, here's a link. The video is 7 minutes long. Neat seeing how the town has grown, but many of the streets and storefronts look just like I remember. You know, if I HAD to move back there, I would. Not fond of the cold icy winters and the hot humid summers. And the tornado warnings. 🙄 It's so FLAT back there, lol. Re has me wondering what it would be like with my sister as a roommate. Her husband is alive and well, but who knows how things will look in 5 years….

Sick Rosie - Woke up to the sour smell of a dog who got sick to her stomach. Rosie still has a great appetite so I don't think it's anything too terrible. She got her face washed despite vigorous protest and I have a load of doggie pillow/blankets in the washer, soaked everything in hot water and baking soda first. So far there's sun so will hang everything out on the deck to dry.
Really, really would love to hop on the mower this afternoon since the fickle weatherman has now changed his mind about warm and sunny tomorrow. He might be wrong.

He won't be stateside until April 10th, and then probably a desk job while he's getting treatment. What he has told me is that the Navy doesn't do the infliximab infusions as normal protocol for treatment of Crohn's, but other suppression meds. The only reason it was offered in Japan is because that's Japan normal protocol, so they were letting him go to an off base clinic to have them. His last two haven't gone too well, with nausea, heavy chest, and moments of coughing. He looks really tired these days.😥💖

Machka, The potential job is the same as here. Volunteer 2 days a week in exchange for utilities and site rent. Pretty good deal actually. If monetized, the new job would pay better than the current one.
It actually has been raining here 2 days in a row, with a prediction of 80% chance of rain tomorrow! Very rare to get more than 10 minutes of rain at a time! Everything should be green once this stops. Desert is pretty after a rain. Everything turns green, and/or flowers after 1 day of rain. This rain should make a huge difference.
DH just left to put a TV up in the visitor center. This place has 5 paid employees under the age of 40, but they don’t trust anyone to mount the TV but DH. SMH… Things like this makes me both want to leave permanently instead of only for 2 weeks. Can’t decide. New place would have nicer campers and the owners are really young, along with no ‘day side’ to attract undesirables. On the other hand, our current job, we don’t really have any bosses and work on our own terms, no schedule. We work as much or as little as we want. IDK
Thought for today:
I just named my phone ”Titanic” so whenever it is charging is can say that it is “synching”!

He will be in San Diego, so will still be video chatting with him. Don't quite know his future quite yet. If the Navy with keep him in, or discharge him. Or if he'll receive any disability for this. He would fly up on his own if he does have to get out. I told him it's a quality of life thing that's most important. The Navy can't really accommodate Crohn's with either dietary issues, and changes in how he's feeling. He had suffered for about a year not being taken seriously, just given a cream or antibiotics.

Whew! 13 phone calls later (I counted), everyone is aware of everything that is going on, was able to get my 1 p.m. medical appointment moved out two weeks, and I was able to get the car towed to a nearby service center that gets good reviews and will work with my warranty company, and the tow cost was even part of the service. But they still can't look at it until Monday…
But, Corey is going to skive off work a couple hours early and take me into town quick to get my labs, which will take care of that, so then I just have the hematologist phone call on Wednesday. Lordie.
But, during that time, I noticed the lien still shows on my car insurance, so I was able to get that removed, and I got a call from my daughter, and was able to help out a friend with a few moments of computer work in between calls. So, quite a bit more productive than yesterday, and I think I will go get some exercise done since Cor won't be home for a couple hours anyway.
What a morning…
Later, y'all,
Love,

Yes, I think once he was diagnosed, he was put on infliximab infusions straight away. Being that he was in Japan, and that is their first med in their protocol helped a lot!💖👍🏼 Unfortunately changing to another med stateside might not go as well, so he isn't looking forward to feeling lousy. He knows what lousy feels like as he kind of suffered a year while the Navy didn't take his symptoms seriously and threw creams and antibiotics at him.

Well, my trip home was just as exhausting as the trip down. This was from Vancouver WA to Mt Vernon. On Wednesday the 2nd I started at 2 pm, left at 3 by bus, and arrived in Seattle at 6:30. Then at about 7 something left Seattle by smaller bus, stopping at Edmond, Everett, and finally making it to Mt Vernon at 9:30. It was a long day.
My visit to my sons was so great though. The two sweet grandkids were so much fun to play with Monday and Tuesday! Athena had cleaned up her room to make space for the air mattress for me. The first night, Sunday night, she was like, "Grandma we need to brush our teeth now". Then we got our jammies on and went to bed at 8:45 pm. She was up in her upper part of her bunk bed, looking down and we chatted a long time. She has like a mood color light to help her relax so it was easy to see each other. Then I said, "you could sleep down with Grandma if you wanted or stay there no worries". So Sun, Mon, and Tuesday we cuddled. In the middle of the night I would feel a 5 yr olds sweet hand stroking my face, or patting my back. (Oh my heart💖😁).
When I had left Whidbey I didn't have husband's stupid Tracfone. He was having email issues and he needed it to get confirmation codes, and so traveling without a phone and spotty internet connection for my tablet was frustrating. I felt bad my sister had gotten so worried waiting for me last Thursday night. So chatting with middle son about it, he decided to let me have his old cell phone as Verizon didn't want it. Athena just used it as her play phone, as it wasn't activated. So having son give it to me, Athena wasn't really keen on that idea. Son put a month of Tracfone activation, and so it was comforting to have in my pocket as I traveled. Husband was like " you don't really need it". He said, "I would have just waited until you arrived, I did not need the updates". I talked with Athena thanking her, and telling her I would be using it for a bit. Maybe next time I will get a simpler cell phone like husbands, then just sent her back her phone for Christmas.😂
I haven't got any photos back from my cousins yet but when I do I will share. It was a whirlwind visit to my aunts funeral, so many events! The night before dinner, the service and lunch after, the afternoon event back at my cousins beautiful place in Redmond OR, then that night a nice time at a sports bar playing pool. So many conversations I was hoarse by the evenings. I did not have to pay for the room my sis said, as they had the double beds and I had a roll away bed. It was awful, but hey I didn't mind. We went shopping at Sisters OR as we were driving to Redmond on Friday. I bought my sis and her daughter lunch, books for the grandkids, some cute teeshirts, and some old fashioned candy. Fun time! One of the book's was entitled, " How to Babysit Your Grandma".😁
It is good to be back home though.💖

Rebecca - The second one they tried on me was a TNF inhibitor like infliximab - they tried me on Humira (adalimumab) and it did not work for me, either. The VA progression is exactly like the military - first a JAK inhibitor (I was on Rinvoq), then a TNF inhibitor, both of which they tried on me, and while both started out helping, then they stopped completely. Only after those two were they able to put me on Skyrizi (risankizumab-rzaa), which is an IL-23 antagonist.
The simplest explanation is that each one targets a different possible inflammatory source for Crohn's. It does not surprise me that it took them a year to find it was his issue, because it's not something they can truly test for. It's basically a collection of symptoms with a name. They only know you have it if the medications for it work!
With mine it took two years to figure it out, but that's because you're also not suppose to begin those symptoms at the age of 60, it's usually found at your son's age. And, unfortunately, they always start with the least expensive possible remedy, and work up to things like Skyrizi.
Which has been truly miraculous, by the way. I don't know what I would have done without the VA. I hope they can get him that medical discharge—the VA has been a literal lifesaver for me.
Later, my chickens,

I am so happy the VA has worked well for you! I had joined a "Parents of kids with Crohn's" on FB but it really was so scary and stressful to read. Many were between the ages of 8-18, some being younger and some being older. Many kids with Crohn's develop quite an aversion to food. Then there's lots of things to do that can divert their attention from their pain to something else. I just felt so bad for son experiencing the pain of Crohn's completely by himself.

Weather has been nice this week for the most part- a bit too warm in my greenhouse though- had to replant some of the seeds- got up to 120(if the thermometer is right)
Heading to Santa Cruz to do a last minute ComicCon show tomorrow morning. Have to leave here before 5AM :( which means up around 4 so dh can get ready. Wish it didn't take him so long. His friend had a cancelation so wants us to take the spot. Giving us a good price on the table and we have never done that area before. We will pack the car tonight so we can just leave in the morning. Having son's girlfriend take care of the dog in the morning before she goes to work for us. They will be there in the afternoon to do the evening shift with him. Not sure if his friend he usually does the shows with will be going too or if it is just dh and I. Better if he doesn't go- then we get more space and not waiting on him when we are setting up(he has to do his backdrop first before we can start setting our side up)
MIL is still causing trouble at the care home. Had another trip to ER Tuesday- after a 4 1/2 hr wait in the hall just to be seen, they dropped her back off at the care home at 1:30AM I think dh said. He never got the call that they had released her- the dr said he would call and let him know. He found out the next morning when he was going over to Kaiser to see her. Lung infection this time(UTI three weeks ago had her in ER overnight).
Ds and his girlfriend are doing more clean up- still working just downstairs it the converted garage. DH finally went through the trunk- saved a few things. Found an OLD phone book with their address/phone number from the house in Colorado Springs where he was born. Never knew the exact address- his mom couldn't remember. We walked the block but didn't know for sure which house it was. Next time we go, we can find it.
Dh is admitting that she will not be coming back to that house and there is no reason to keep everything exactly the way it was. We will go through and donate what he doesn't want to keep/things the kids will not need or use.Need to get back to cleaning some of the 3D printed things so they are ready for the show in the morning.
It will be fun but last minute stuff is a bit stressful. Most of the stuff is ready, just the new items that he and I have been working on need to be packed and he needs to get the stuff he stored at his mom's brought over to our house.Debbie

Did Biggest Loser 30 Day Jumpstart DVD today, then some yoga. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Firm Max Cardio Burn DVD and then some yoga. Boy, do I need it
Vince was a bit upset that I gave the guys from Exodus Works a $60 tip for a $75 job. But these guys are trying to get back into society. Plus, if you give a good tip, they remember. They’ll be here more on the spot the next time I call them, plus, they’ll take extra care and go above and beyond. Like they not only planted the plants, but they also raked some rocks. They didn’t have to do that.
After exercise took a walk around the block. The one guy was here and he said that he has someone who can take out the tree stumps that he cutdown last year. He’s a really nice guy, only he works on C time.
Just got back from the soup kitchen. They had chicken sandwiches.
Lanette– I’ve started taking my car for oil changes and inspection to this Jiffy Lube place. The nice thing is that they’re not in the business of selling tires or air filters or windshield wipers or whatever.
Volunteered at the soup kitchen. Then went to Home Depot and got a bit of mulch just to put over where the guys planted the plants. Also got some more Preen. I admit that I’m OCD about weeds – I see one and I have to pull it. Put down the mulch and Preen.
While walking this morning met the guy who cut down our trees LAST YEAR. He said he has someone to take out the stumps. Like I said, he’s a really great guy, just works on HIS time. I don’t mind waiting a few months to get things done, but a YEAR???? So I marked on the stumps where they were. I could swear there was one smaller one but for the life of me I couldn’t find it.
Lisa– happy birthday
Debbie– glad your husband has finally accepted the fact that his motherwon’t be coming homw
Off to a shower then bed.

Thank you Barbie for getting us started on the new month. It is starting out better than the last couple.
I did the interview at the court house and they are to let me know. In the meantime I had applied for Front desk administrator at the county housing authority office. They called me for interview on Wednesday and called me yesterday with an offer that I accepted. So today I had to go take the drug test. I learned I can not pee on demand. I ended up there just over 3 hours drinking water and pop so I could go. Once I was there I had to stay or could not come back until next week. But got it done, now just waite for the background check and I can start. They are thinking Monday April 14.
Rita—Glad you both like the new doctor. Your sandals look very comfortable and pretty.
Pip—Hugs for 1 year since your mom passed.
Lisa—I really think the cardigan is beautiful. I agree with those who say that house looks like burning it down is the best choice.
Katie—Prayers and hugs.
Welcome Kaycee and Laura—this is a great place for freindship and support. I have been on here since Feb 2014 and use the free app.
Heather—I am like you if given the chance I would stay home, but when I do make myself go I usually have a good time. Enjoy seeing the pictures of your class.
Rebecca—Sounds like your trip was very busy and time with grandchildren special. Cuddles in the night are the best. Prayers for son gets stateside and they decide his treament soon,
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE💜

Congratulations on the job!!
The amount you drank in those 3 hours is likely the amount you need to be drinking in each 3-hour period you're awake.
I'm not sure I could go 3 hours without going pee!

Mo, our BB&B coach announced he’s moving out of the area and April will be his last month teaching us. He hopes the pilates teacher will take over. After my initial “Oh NOOOOO!” reaction, I thought hmm… I’ve always been intrigued by Pilates but thought it would be too hard for me to do. Maybe this is a good thing.
Michele I think you did great with the Exodus workers. And Brava for the generous tips. Fast good work and extra raking worth it.
Lanette last year I divided strawberries into 16 oz yogurt containers, after drilling drainage holes in bottom. Had a ton of them as they aren’t recyclable here.
Sue Three 7500+ days? Yay you indeed!
Vicki congratulations on the job offer. An early happy sober anniversary present!
Our water issues persist. When it rains, the switch malfunctions and water stops. Joe has been able to nurse it along by running a fan and opening the door when the sun shines as it has the past two days, but rain is forecast for Sunday. Guess I’d better wash my hair today after dog group ;} Water guy says we are on his list. Hope he means the “to do soon” list and not any others…😒
Joe’s up so gonna go sit with him a few moments before going back to sleep.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Vicki - So happy for you that you got the job you wanted. It sounds like a good fit for you.
Watching decorating shows on YouTube, and reading my Elle Decoration. I'm getting closer to a decision. 😯 I also think I'm going to bite the bullet and do something with my pine antique cabinet, that i bought in the early 70s. It's orange from age and won't look good in my newly painted bedroom. It's huge! I may keep and paint, or bleach, the bottom, but I don't think I want the top in the bedroom. It's a glass display cabinet. Not sure. Either way, it's quite a job!
Another gorgeous day. My earrings, hoops, that I put in for repair are ready. They were given to me by an old boyfriend, so I have a sentimental attachment to them. This is their second repair, so they are working out expensive, but gold is so pricey now. I do wear them a lot as a default pair. Really comfortable. The v old boyfriend, I know from his daughter, has Parkinsons and Alzheimers. 😓 So I may walk down to the jewellers.
Allie - You will improve. I'm only now, over eight months after my last op, beginning to feel anything like normal.
Lisa - I'm really enjoying your videos. You are getting better and better as you relax into it. I follow people who are good at showing their real selves on line, and that is a talent only a few possess. Being natural doesn't come naturally. 😜
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Walking This Week
Monday - 9023 steps
Tuesday - 6887 steps
Wednesday - 6493 steps
Thursday - 6102 steps
Friday - 3168 steps
Saturday - 8175 steps
I've been trying out a step counter on my phone. It seems to count my steps all right … as long as I remember to carry the phone with me!! 😋 Quite a few steps also happened during moments without my phone.
I've been recalled by my GP based on what was seen in either my shoulder X-ray or ultrasound. I'm not sure, of course, because I'm not an X-ray technician or doctor … but if I had to guess, it likely has to do with the X-ray. It's possible that shoulder is partially dislocated again.
Fortunately, my legs still work!

Hello, my dears, and happy Saturday, whether past, present for future,
Thank y'all for the well wishes… more on that in a second.
Vicki - I always loved that bubbling joy of a new job. Combined with a little bit of apprehension about how long it will take to fit in, and how much to learn in a short period of time, of course, but then back to that swirling joy of having the worry being lifted off your heart after a long search, it's all a wonderful feeling. I'm so pleased for you! I think you will find it to be soooo much less stressful after your long hours at your previous work - and the health insurance should be good with a county government position. Always a relief.
Heather, my dear, what a lovely compliment! I think I'm finally figuring out the physicality of it. I talk with my hands, and if I try to sit on them or something to stop myself, I just get terribly stiff and self-conscious. It's also pure laziness and a reluctance to edit for hours on end. If it's not absolutely awful, I just keep going. 😁
Allie, darlin' - Heather's right - give yourself some grace and time to heal.
The weather is wet, wet, wet, a few more days of rain in the offing, and nearly ten inches of rain since Thursday night.
On the car:
So… the upshot on the car is that the one thing the warranty would NOT cover is the one thing that was the problem. A mouse chewed through the wiring. (Probably trying to climb higher to keep dry—they're destructive little buggers.) But… because of all the rain and people cancelling work, the service center was able to get it diagnosed and fixed in a few hours. Even with the electricity going out in town for an hour or two, due to the rain.
So, my little Kicks is back under my carport and not sitting in a cold, greasy garage bay in town. I'm going to be putting mouse bait out all around the edges of the carport - the kind that Egg can't get into.
Of course, much like any kidnapping, it was expensive! Total of just over $600 to pay the ransom and get it back. However, if I had decided to have it towed to the dealership, they would have had to replace more stuff because of the rules they work under, they would have kept it days longer, and charged at least twice as much (per Corey, who works with them all the time for the fleet of trucks he's in charge of).
Since the independent service center towed my car, they gave me a break on the tow and the diagnostic. I made the choice to have them fix it after I looked up the reviews online - the independent service center got 4.9, and the dealership service center was 2.6. And THAT's why I write reviews. For people like me.
Regarding this birthday:
I'm honestly having a hard time with this particular birthday. I always have a hard time with the 5s… Look, I know that in reality, I'm only a few days older than I was at the beginning of the week, but it feels as if I'm now in my late 60s, and that just feels… old.
I'm aware we have some absolutely amazing people in this group who are older, and this genuinely isn't meant to be a comment on your age or how you feel. You know how I feel about those kind of comparisons.
But, we all have our little weirdities, and this one is mine. For whatever reason, 25 was the first birthday that really hit me hard - that's when I finally felt like I had to become an adult, because I was suddenly in my "late 20s."
Now I guess I feel like I have to become an old person.
Thus the retail therapy and eating sugar and not exercising for the first time in a couple months. Trying to make myself feel better, different.
And it might be vanity - but I don't SEE an old woman in the mirror. Took me a little while for the shock to wear off of seeing myself talk, but I don't even see an old woman in the videos when I watch them back now. I just see… me. I'll eventually shake off the funk, but it made for very odd week.
So glad I have my car back!
Washer and dryer going, coffee maker is burbling for Corey, and I feel like my world is getting a little more back to normal, I guess.
Just damp.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Big enough?!!!
I had to come back on the bus because the wind was blowing it around. I did walk down to the jewellers, so I've done about a mile. Hoops are lovely and shiny.
I have no idea what I am going to do with the canvas. Something … big. 😀😃🙂 There was a larger size, but I doubted my ability to get it home.
I think I overdid the glute exercises this morning, as my left hip was uncomfortable. But it didn't get any worse as I was walking around.
John's younger daughter is popping over to see him tomorrow, and he will meet her early at the station and they will go for a walk through Hove Park and a copse, and up to the South Downs. There is a windmill and a café up there. She will catch her return train to London early, because it is the Brighton Marathon, and trains will be heaving. I won't be able to see her, but that's OK.
Crispy Chinese Duck and pancakes tonight. Maybe green beans with garlic.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Vicki ~ So happy for you finding your new job. I am sure you will be great and (as Lisa said) the benefits should be a lot better than your past job.
Rebecca ~ Your trip sounds like you had a wonderful time even though the travel was rough. I am so glad you got to snuggle with Athena! Hoping you get to see your son stateside soon.
Kylia ~ Having a backup system during the storms must be great!
Lisa ~ Happy Birthday! When I turned 70 I always felt surprised that people didn't recognize the young woman I felt to be inside. Now, at 76 I really feel my age.
This is a photo of my mom, her sister, and her cousin from 2012! Mom is the one with the dark hair and I think she looked pretty darn good for her age back then as she was probably 78.
Terri ~ You are so much to be admired for all the activities you participate in! So glad that you have the energy and inclination to continue pursuing your interests and know it keeps you young mentally and physically.

II am in my late sixties and am fortunate to be in good health. I am grateful every day. I had health issues that I got to the root cause. Conventional medicine often gives a pill for an ill which only treats the symptoms. It was and is a marathon for me. First time trying to do this from my phone,so learning curve.I

Congratulations, Vicki!
Quiet weekend planned. I was thinking of going to the Capitol today, but I think I will go to the farmer's market instead. Just a few blocks away from the Capitol building, so I can at least eaves drop, maybe.
Youngest son has been at thespian state for the past two days. Close call last night as hubby and I almost went to Marco Polo restaurant last night but changed our minds at the last minute and went somewhere else. As we were waiting for our meal, a charge came through on son's greenlight card from . . . Marco Polo! Lol he would have died from embarrassment.
Much love to all.
