Betsy ~ So sorry for the losses you have experienced lately but glad your sister is doing well!
Barbara ~ Do you have a large area to plant all the seed you are sprouting? Hoping the ongoing water issues get resolved soon.
I have no idea how a person can Skype or Zoom!
Have a great Sunday!

Lisa: Glad to know that you enjoyed your birthday. Mine is on Easter Sunday this year. I was actually born on Easter Saturday almost 8 decades ago.
Our seeds have propagated much better than we expected, so wondering where we will put some of them. I think we will donated our excess plants to friends and family.

Mice: Another deterrent for mice are Bounce dryer sheets. They work as long as you can smell them. The original scent works best. We use them in the camper by the engine. We have very few if any at all mice whereas our co-host complain of mice a lot.
Not planing a garden this year because it should have already been planted, at least the underground things, but we are leaving for at least 2 weeks the end of the month. The plant buckets are too heavy to move and are in a different site as our ‘ranger’ made us change site for electrical construction last year. I’m bummed about that. I’m bummed about a lot of things right now.
After the surprise snow yesterday, the sun is shinning today. I should be able to get a walk in. Still chilly but no precipitation so will be nice to walk.
DS called again yesterday, he gets 15 minutes per call and has to share the main phone. He shoulder bored yesterday. There isn’t much for him to do there. There is a gym, which I suggested he check out. He said he thought of it, just hasn’t gone in there yet. He still plans on staying as long as he can. I’m happy about that.
Thought for today:
What’s a computer’s favorite snack?
A microchip!

Sorry I missed your BIRTHDAY LISA! Hope you had a LOVELY day!
Congrats, VICKI!!! YOU ROCK!!!3 -
Betsy - So sorry for your losses. It is hard to move on from them. A rather prominent person who I have worked with and respected committed suicide on Friday. No one seems to have a clue as to what precipitated it.
Have carloads take another load to Goodwill. Laundry is in process. I want to give living room rug a quick shampoo. The cats make it hard to maintain. Will freshen things up and get up more of the hair. Trying to have things dusted and swept well for my return home. Won't be able to clean much for a couple of weeks. Of course, I shouldn't be messing things up much. I think I shall use paper plates and bowls for the first week or so-easier on me.
Back toward.
Take. care all,

I've spent most of the afternoon researching paint colours, curtains, and how to make/use chalk paint. A bit of a weird thing to do on a beautiful spring day, but it has to be done sometime! I can't decide what to do with my large glazed dresser, but painting it is an option. Anyway, I feel I have made progress of a sort. 😗
John not back yet. That must mean she caught a later train. They got right up onto the Downs, to our famous beauty spot, Devils Dy ke.

On aging – the other day I looked in the mirror and thought “who IS that old woman in the mirror?” Then I realized it was ME! I am as old as I feel and I feel 39. The body doesn’t always agree, tho.
Barbara– I don’t use a medicine ball, but instead I use a dumbbell
Jess just called to ask when we’re opening the pool. This is about the third time she’s asked...lol We had to explain that we need to wait for a day when it’s sunny, warm, and not windy
Betsy– so sorry for all your losses. Boy, does your gd look great!
Ginny– so sorry for your loss, too
At BK the fryer caught fire yesterday so there wasn’t much prep for me to do. I did text the store manager to ask her if I can go back to doing prep 4 days/week. I didn’t tell her in the text but the fact is that it’s impacting my income. Not that I made a whole lot to begin with. I guess we shall see. She said that she did put in for a $1/hr raise for me, but who knows if that’ll come thru or not?

Good Sunday morning ladies!
Ginny - sounds like you are making wise choices in getting that bathroom ready, plus having kitty litter with easy access is a good idea. Much easier than lifting a heavy box or container. I remember those days. Often hard enough to lift and maneuver even without having recent surgery.
Allie - you've had your share of hospitals and surgeries throughout your life. Hope you are all done with them forever and have a long and healthy life from here on out.
Betsy - my sincere condolences over the recent losses in your life! (((HUGS))). Glad your sister is doing well and enjoy your summer back in Alaska. I'm sure you'll be busy.
Mice and cars - they never chewed wiring but had quite a nest built in the Camry cabin filter behind the glove box a couple years ago - when DH could no longer drive, the car would sit for 6 months at a time. It was in the garage where I had mousetraps but still, there was something nice about that car. The oil change guy found it and suggested Peppermint oil, Bounce sheets or Irish spring. I put bars of Irish spring in the glove boxes of both cars. I had him check the cabin filter last week and it was perfectly fine.
I had some kind of a varmint in the potting shed last winter - it didn't eat any of the corn or chicken feed I left out, but knocked things off shelves! There wasn't any place for a cat, raccoon or possum to get into that I could find. Maybe a tiny squirrel or chipmunk? Didn't see any rat droppings. The only wierd thing I discovered a few weeks ago was that something had chewed open a bag of blood meal and made a little pile of it under some shelves I rarely get into.
Anyhow, I read that hot sauce makes a good squirrel repellant so got a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce and dribbled it all over the shelves I could reach. Intruder stopped coming in. Not sure if that would work for mice chewing car wires but that might be an idea too.
I was busy all day yesterday. Ran and got gas for the mower then did a lot of pruning, weed eating, you name it. I also worked in the potting shed a little yesterday and I ran across a box of 4" plastic pots I'd stashed away on a shelf DH built out there. So might not have to use the beer cups this year - tho I do want to try them out!
Reminder the "weekly check-in" is tomorrow.😉
Make it a fabulous day!

Oh me too! Its something he's not looking forward to, as his infusions seemed to be helping him. The last two ones though, didn't seem as effective, hense the sad face of him I posted. 😥💖

Love all the cute pics of inspiring grandkids.👍🏼💖
Betsy so sorry you're dealing with loss and grieving. How old was your cousin? My condolences to you.💖
Your friends death is so tragic! I hope she passed quickly, but what a thing for those that loved her, left to try to make sense of it all. Big hugs to you and what you're feeling.
I am hoping to hear from youngest today, (this evening, Monday noon for him). He must have some days off before he heads stateside. He had called but my tablet was off.🙄😥. I do not keep it by my bed, because I just don't sleep, even if its dark. I am waiting. That's no way to try to sleep, so she is plugged in, charging and off.

Hello Bunnies and chicks,
I forgot, my cords to my laptop, so I used my phone. I typed out everything and tried to post but it didn't go through. Then I lost everything I typed. So we went to Best But to purchase cords to charge my watch and laptop. First things first.
Lisa, Happy Belated Birthday. I hope you had a wonderful day.
Vicki, I am so happy for you that you got the job! I hope you love it. Congratulations!
Heather, I hope your bonus daughter gets to see her dad. I believe she misses him and my need his advice.
Rita, I love the fact that you have good choices in where to live. I hope you pick the one you can live with.
After 12 hours of traveling Friday and no sleep on Thursday, due to packing, I slept a lot. Friday I left Jackson, MS to Houston, Texas, then Austin, Texas to Orlando,Florida. My hip started hurting, so I did a lot of hobbling. I guess, the flip flops I wore was not supportive. I am fine now. I just take a muscle relaxer and heat pad. I also soaked in the tub today. DH is happy to have me to himself and I am enjoying him too. I just get over stimulated from the loud noise from his calls or TV. So now he is wearing his headphones.
I hope all is well with all of you. Talk to you all later.
XO,
MO, in Florida :)

Happy belated birthday Lisa- Hope you had a great one.
Skipped church this morning. I was not feeling good- coughing/wheezing/congested/runny nose so I took a long hot shower when I got up- used my inhaler and feel better but still have all of it , just not as bad. Having more hot tea now. I am sure it was from sitting under the big air conditioning vent at the show yesterday. It was held in an old Sears store in the mall. Who knows when the ac ducts have been cleaned plus the cold triggers my asthma also. Show was ok but the drive was long. The next one is just 30 min north of us which will be great. We are looking at doing more local/smaller events. Not a fan of being up at 3:30 in the morning and getting home at 9PM
Walked the dog at the park while dh and ds worked on taking an old wall heater out of the garage conversion at his mom's house where the kids are moving. It left a lot smaller whole than I expected.
They covered the whole inside and outside then they hung an Avatar wall tapestry over it that we had just picked up at Black Friday(also picked up four sets of drapes for them to pick from- they need three plus small ones for the side windows that I told them we can cut and hem if they want) they could also use some in the main living area if they want to change those out too. Each set was just $6 and they are full sets with at least 2 panels. One is two kinds in one set- liners and drapes, others are Blackout drapes. Got about $300 in drapes for $25.
Looking forward to seeing it when they get it all done. This is just the garage conversion- they haven't started in the main living area or the bedroom. We went and say MIL today. Dh told me AS we were driving over there because it was on the way to Kohl's that I needed to stop at to pick up an order. I was NOT happy with being blindsided but it worked out ok. I have only seen her now 3 times since right before Christmas. Better than every day like he is doing. He wanted to talk with a friend of hers that was visiting MIL so left me in the room with his mom to feed her. She was very quiet, ate a bit but didn't want more and then fell asleep. As we were walking out he just said it is ok for the kids to move in to her house- she is never coming home. Owner of the care facility is pushing him to put her on hospice. Not sure if she is that bad off but she may be.
I have dishes I should be doing but they can wait- going to have another cup of herbal blackberry tea and watch a show or two.

I was able to video chat with youngest this evening for about 35 minutes. It was Monday, and his lunch hour so nice of him to take the time. Our last chat before he heads stateside. Still a lot to do and finish before he can technically go. Orders are still being processed, his medical records held hostage until he gets his teeth cleaned at dental. Ship never stamped his official transfer off the ship so trying to get them to do that. Navy is so great about dragging its heels until the last second to get something done. But it will all work out. Oh and the medical dept still needs to translate his off base medical care.🙃

I have tried to keep up while we’ve had company but I found it too hard. I have read through though.
Lisa - Happy Birthday! I’m sorry I missed it.
Betsy - What a tragedy. Sorry for your losses.
Mice - we have struggled with mice here. I have Irish Spring out and about. They still came in so I bought the plug in sonic things and haven’t seen any since.
Our friend is spending the night at her brother’s. Today we drove out to Kaitlyn’s and then I drove her there. She is leaving to go home Tuesday evening. I was expecting her to be here much longer.
I’m going to relax now and head to bed soon.

Nice to see you Tracey!
The family are in Somerset, staying on a farm, with petting animals. They stayed there last autumn and loved it. I didn't remember they were going, so had a bit of a shock when they sent photos! Gorgeous weather for it. I'm sure they need the break. We are having the girls on Friday, so won't have time to miss them too much. 😖
Done my editing. Chatted to G. Now to wash my hair.

Betsy, I'm so sorry for your losses. How very sad. You just don't know what's in people's hearts and minds sometimes. I hope you can find comfort in the memories you had with your cousin and friend.
4 -
Rebecca - So many memories came flooding back of what it took to get through a permanent change of station from one base to another. That paperwork run from one office to another to another, and a stack of paper an inch thick—magnified if you lived in base housing and had to clear through all those different administrative offices as well. Plus shipping everything from one place to another! Just a nightmare of one signature can't be gotten until you get three others, and went on for days, if not weeks. I hope it's somewhat simpler for a single man with no dependents. While he's unhappy the infusions have stopped working, and I fully understand that, it means they can start him on something completely different that may well have a better outcome as soon as he gets stateside. I hope they find the right one on the next try!
Betsy - I am so sorry you've gone through these abrupt losses in such a short time. My family's similar tragedy happened more than 30 years ago now, and left ripples in the lives of people who loved my Aunt Belle for untold years. We always question ourselves as to what we could have done to make it just not happen, but there are no answers to that question. We cannot see in the dark, dear heart. Many hugs headed your way, my friend. I'm so glad you have your Alaska time to look forward to. Will be thinking of you and your sis, and am happy her tests are so positive.
Tracey - I figured you were busy with your friend, but it's good to see you post! Tell us how it went when you have more time…
Machka - Which of the studies were you dealing with? There's so much data there, it's overwhelming, even if you just read the abstracts!
Ginny - Thinking about you, hope the surgery is swift, painless and successful, and that the recovery is as well. Every exercise and walk you've done will make recovery so much easier, as well as all the prep work you're doing now.
Heather - John looks so happy. Love the "combined age" thing.
Mo - My best friend has a travel list that she prints out for herself and keeps on her phone as well for all the things, like chargers, etc. Really helps in situations like that - glad you're enjoying the time with your husband. Even more glad you have time to sleep, with few responsibilities.
Debbie - Sympathies on not feeling well - I was fine inside the house yesterday, but every time I stepped outside, I just dissolved into a sneezy, snotty mess. Other shoppers in Walmart were looking at me like I had the plague. Some allergen was stomping all over the inside of my head, no telling which. It's possible that your husband needs this long, slow goodbye to his mother for his own sake, enough time to resolve how he feels toward her, perhaps. An abrupt death would have left an awful lot unresolved for him.
Just talked to Corey, his weekday "good morning" call, and I've got more than a few bits of things I need to get done this morning, time to get at 'em. Egg is roosting (which sounds REALY strange) over my little floor heater that's keeping my ankles warm. It's just skimming freezing this morning, but warming up fast.
Oh! Forgot to say that last week's video and short clip are performing better than anything else I've posted, with more than 1500 views on the clip and 80 already on the video. Plus garnered six new subscriptions. Not exactly viral, but definitely "sick." (In the good sense of the word… 😁
Love y'all!

Lisa …
The Island Project is a long-term study on dementia using 20,000+ Tasmanians over the age of 50. It's one of the biggest (perhaps the biggest) study of this nature.
The ISLAND Project is an acronym for the Island Study Linking Ageing and Neurodegenerative Disease (ISLAND). ISLAND involves a range of studies and has two main aims: to understand who in Tasmania is at most risk of dementia, and what you can do to decrease your risk of dementia. Tasmania's population is ageing faster than the national average and has high rates of known modifiable risk factors.
I am one of the 20,000+ Tasmanians who is involved in this longitudinal study. 😊
Out of the study so far, they have produced educational material that (I think) can be accessed globally … not just in Tasmania, such as:
All 3 of those are free. I want to take the first two and have taken the 3rd, but would like to do it again because I hear they've updated the course material.
They've also produced numerous research papers which I linked above. I'm not involved in any except as one of the 20,000+ contributing my data.
For me, it's exciting to think that little Tasmania is making a contribution like this. 😊
