Goals for every round;
First and foremost, no feeding frenzies β I am not a shark or even a piranha!
to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.

4/10 140.6 (trend 139.9) 10.14 miles, ate better, feeding cold was celery & raw carrot sticks, scales in delay mode! This round a pound gain.

4/11 140.6 (trend 140) 5.09 miles walked, stayed on track.
4/12 DNW - came away in the caravan for the weekend. 8.16 miles walked, decided I want to be solidly below 140 by end of round.4/13 DNW 12.1 miles walked, ΒΎ of a mile of that was 1:8 gradient & ΒΌ 1:9! When we were going down in the morning I was not relishing the thought of the upward return at the end of the walk! A good work out!

Wins: Starting this challenge and being part of a community rather than being adrift like a lone ship at sea.
Challenges: Doing 30-day carnivore challenge. Not just to lose pounds/inches (although thatβs good too!) but also to hopefully reap some of the other claimed benefits: improved: sleep, mental clarity, cognition, energy, joint pain, skin, mood. Reduced: brain fog, fatigue, cravings, inflammation, bloating.Β
Goals: This weekβs goal is to cut down on sweet-n-low in my coffee. Itβs my biggest weakness for carnivore and only βcheatβ I struggle to shake. Trying to learn to love unsweetened coffee! π«£ (and as a first timer, actually hitting βpost replyβ for this post)

A weekend is upon us and fortunately there are no planned social/eating opportunities stacked up. My nerd sheet tells me I am trending to 228.6, thanks to my shady past. I am out to prove him wrong.Found out yesterday my DSIL biopsy shows she has breast cancer. We are all hoping and praying they caught it soon enough that she will recover well with treatment. She has no pain or symptoms or lumps, but found it with a mammogram. Her husband has been treating lung cancer for two years. When it rains it pours, but our family has faith to lean on.

I got distracted yesterday and did not post. Grandbaby duty (privilege) in morning, then lunch at the cookout my sonβs employer (meat shop) does every Saturday, then quick walk with DW, then Masters Golf on the tube. By that time I was spacedβ¦I did log yesterday after the fact and though I ate less than normal, the CI seems pretty low. I must be forgetting something.

4/12 177.84/13 177.8 Holding steady for the weekend weight. Fingers crossed this is the high end of my curve for the round. I did enjoy seeing the glimmer of 175 last round.
With some warmer temps predicted this week I should be working most days. Iβm hoping the increased activity gives me a little boost for my calorie burn.Iβve been patiently waiting for this natural activity increase since January. It will be interesting if my theory proves true or if Iβve been fooling myself into not putting in more effort.
The goal is to be around 155 by Thanksgiving without having to drastically change anything, just continue to be mindful.

4/11- 130.2 Big surprise that was not such a big surprise given my visits to the bathroom yesterday and this morning. Donβt know what made a difference from one day to the next. Calories were good yesterday. Did 3 lap (5 mile) walk. Today, I am going to walk, but I am also heading to the gym. Facing out to eat AGAIN, tonight, but this morningβs number gives me hope that I will end this round with some sort of 130 number. I have pre-tracked my day, so I do have a planLooking at my 2023 history, on Jan 1, 2023, I was 146.6, March 2 138.0, and April 11, I was 131.4. By May 1, 2023, I was 128.2.
Looking at my 2925 History, on Dec 31, 2024, I was 138.2 March 1 135.2, and April 11 (today) 130.2 (but 132 yesterday). Pattern is slower this time, but does show me I can make it into the upper 120βs before looking at MOG dresses in May, and if my summer is good, I should be comfortable at the September wedding.
4/12- 130.2 yesterday kept evolving but I adjusted my plans as I went along. I did walk 3 laps, also went to the gym and did elliptical, then and hour workout. The guys were successfully fishing which meant my plans at the restaurant changed, so I re-tracked that. Anyhow, I made it through the day!
Today, we have been invited to friends for dinner. I have no idea what they are serving. This will actually be harder than yesterday.
4/13- 130.6 I handled yesterday as well as possible and moderately exceeded preferred calories. My win for the day was that I did not binge once I got back to the condo after the dinner at friends. I considered it a number of times, but did not. Glad I controlled it, but it is crazy that I even needed to fight this urge.4/14-

@itladyee : the dentist gives me nightmares too- for a similar reason; my childhood was spent in a dentist's chair with major problems and minor anesthesia; it scarred me until I finally found someone great about 20 years ago. I hope he never retires!
@deepwoodslady : I'm glad your weather broke and you have heat; you've had enough weather-related drama this winter! Did you get an oven?

04/12 β 196.4 β - (Trend Weight β 195.4) Honestly, I thought it would be more than 1 lb gain. Itβs really been a grab & go frenzy here but my yard after the Ice Storm of the Century is slowly getting cleaned up. Today is supposed to be beautiful so lots will get done. Also, my son from a neighboring county will be coming to haul off some of the big tree trunks. Finally, some help! For this round I have entered my starting weight for the round as todayβs weight since I didnβt weigh yesterday. Iβve got to pull it together but it wonβt be today. Iβm just happy for the help Iβll be getting from son and from daughterβs boyfriend.
π° π° π° π° π° 04/13-196.6 β - (Trend Weight: 195.5) I am still in the grab & go mentality during this storm mess but things are looking better and better in the yards. We are definitely eating more restaurant food as we take breaks from the cleanup. I got the hauling off help yesterday and got some more picking up and raking done which is probably helping to keep some of my calories burned off. Lots of tarp dragging full of yard debris to the bonfire area for later burning. I have a very wide house with the attached side entry garage so itβs a long way around to the back when we are working in the front. There will be more work today. This is what my primary focus must be right now for sure. Schools are back in session which means that the region is improving though many are still without power. The weather has improved and that is a tremendous help. There are still snapped trees that I will have to contend with. At some point I will have to contend with this weight gain too. If I could mitigate further weight damage it would make it much easier to lose any excess weight that started with the hotel stays and has landed me here eating no-so-healthy meals and snacks. Itβs a mess and Iβm a mess but this too shall pass.

Not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh-in. Last evening, I had that dinner at a friends condo that I referenced in my daily post. This morning, I did not recognize what I think may be a consequence of that get together. I have felt off, and no energy. I did go to the gym, and just wanted to go home the whole time, but did suck-it-up-buttercup. I think I am feeling the after effects of how much wine I had. I pretty much don't drink, and last night, bit by bit, I think I had the equivalent of two full glasses of wine. Given the number of hours, I was fine when we walked back to our condo the next floor down. But I am just suspicious of possible cause and effect and how low energy I have been today. Anyone else have insights on this? Oh, and when I feel like bleh, I tend to eat, thinking it will provide energy. Today, did not go well. Hey, but I did do my gym workout!

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

Challenges: Doing 30-day carnivore challenge. Not just to lose pounds/inches (although thatβs good too!) but also to hopefully reap some of the other claimed benefits: improved: sleep, mental clarity, cognition, energy, joint pain, skin, mood. Reduced: brain fog, fatigue, cravings, inflammation, bloating.Β
Goals: This weekβs goal is to cut down on sweet-n-low in my coffee. Itβs my biggest weakness for carnivore and only βcheatβ I struggle to shake. Trying to learn to love unsweetened coffee! π«£ (and as a first timer, actually hitting βpost replyβ for this post)

4/11- 130.2 Big surprise that was not such a big surprise given my visits to the bathroom yesterday and this morning. Donβt know what made a difference from one day to the next. Calories were good yesterday. Did 3 lap (5 mile) walk. Today, I am going to walk, but I am also heading to the gym. Facing out to eat AGAIN, tonight, but this morningβs number gives me hope that I will end this round with some sort of 130 number. I have pre-tracked my day, so I do have a planLooking at my 2023 history, on Jan 1, 2023, I was 146.6, March 2 138.0, and April 11, I was 131.4. By May 1, 2023, I was 128.2.
Looking at my 2925 History, on Dec 31, 2024, I was 138.2 March 1 135.2, and April 11 (today) 130.2 (but 132 yesterday). Pattern is slower this time, but does show me I can make it into the upper 120βs before looking at MOG dresses in May, and if my summer is good, I should be comfortable at the September wedding.
4/12- 130.2 yesterday kept evolving but I adjusted my plans as I went along. I did walk 3 laps, also went to the gym and did elliptical, then and hour workout. The guys were successfully fishing which meant my plans at the restaurant changed, so I re-tracked that. Anyhow, I made it through the day!Today, we have been invited to friends for dinner. I have no idea what they are serving. This will actually be harder than yesterday.
4/13- 130.6 I handled yesterday as well as possible and moderately exceeded preferred calories. My win for the day was that I did not binge once I got back to the condo after the dinner at friends. I considered it a number of times, but did not. Glad I controlled it, but it is crazy that I even needed to fight this urge.
4/14- 132.0 Yup, expected that. Heading out for my walk in 30. Will pre-track and today will be a normal day. Curious how many days will take to undo yesterday.

A weekend is upon us and fortunately there are no planned social/eating opportunities stacked up. My nerd sheet tells me I am trending to 228.6, thanks to my shady past. I am out to prove him wrong.Found out yesterday my DSIL biopsy shows she has breast cancer. We are all hoping and praying they caught it soon enough that she will recover well with treatment. She has no pain or symptoms or lumps, but found it with a mammogram. Her husband has been treating lung cancer for two years. When it rains it pours, but our family has faith to lean on.

I got distracted yesterday and did not post. Grandbaby duty (privilege) in morning, then lunch at the cookout my sonβs employer (meat shop) does every Saturday, then quick walk with DW, then Masters Golf on the tube. By that time I was spacedβ¦I did log yesterday after the fact and though I ate less than normal, the CI seems pretty low. I must be forgetting something.

Got up too early this morning. Sleep is one of my βissues.β I couldnβt sleep-in if my life depended on it. I am usually up two hours ahead of DW. Here are the facts about last week:

4/13 177.84/14 DNW My sleep was chaotic and there was a PB & J eaten at 2am while watching tv on the couch. I have tendency to get out of bed if I canβt sleep. Usually I just reposition myself in the spare room and doom scroll for a bit or read. But evidently my husband might have been correct when he said I couldnβt possibly get everything done that I had on my list.
The spare room bed is filled with clothes from my walk in closet that I have not painted but refused to just put back together again to move forward because I swore I could get it painted before I got busy with work. At the same time saying taking on the estate clean out for DF wouldnβt be a big deal.
My lack of sleep is a stage of PMS that goes along with wanting to murder my husband for being so right about my over commitment to projects yet he has no ability to put his breakfast dishes in the sink.
Peri menopause is getting real and my cycle isnβt that predictable clock Iβm so used to. Perhaps I need to start factoring this hormonal shift into my plan for my weight. My understanding is I will be going through a stage of life that is the most difficult for weight loss. More motivation to get to a better health weight this year and focus on staying there.
Bodies are weird, aging is weird.
