03/31 – 195.8 (Trend Weight – 195.3) Storm of the Century in northern Michigan has caused power to go out in the entire upper portion of the mitten of northen Michigan. Other scattered areas too. Some will be without power for up to a month! This on top of my furnace issues which are on the back burner now. Going out of county quite far to the last room I can find at a hotel for son & I for a few days to warm up and get showers. I will have to refocus on my weight loss journey once I get through this catastrophe. Outside looks like ground zero of the apocalypse. There will be so much clean up and there is so much damage to so many properties already. I’ll catch up on posts when I get home.

@deepwoodslady This is a nightmare for you all. I'm so sorry you went through all that. I cannot imagine all the stress. I can't blame you for eating what was around. You did the best you could with all that stress and uncertainty. Sending you hugs. 💙
5 -
@deepwoodslady , i think of survival a lot. There is some propane heaters to get, a heater buddy uses small canister propane or u can get a long hose to use the large propane tank(the ones for grills). Maybe a small generator to power up things. Just tossing ideas out to you! One time I pitched a small tent into the livingroom and had a small candle heater in it. It kept us warm enough for a couple nights when the power went out here. I haven't tried to do any long term "camp" like what u just went through. Hope someone gives u a hand with all the cleanup needed!

5-2I'm getting there! I changed my UGW from 134-137 to 132. This is such a mental game. 132 is what I weighed when I got married. I haven't seen it since then (1979 - age 27) The real reason for the change is that it feels reasonable to me to maintain between 132 and 135. (This is where my scale dependency takes over).
I'm pretty much afraid of maintenance. I have all these big clothes in my closet that I can't quite feel good getting rid of. Maybe I should start going to thrift stores. I'm not a good shopper. In fact I hate shopping for clothes because it always makes me mad. Onward! I've got two months ahead of me to get to goal.
Thank you all for being here. I don't know why but it makes a big difference to me. Good luck all. Patience. Persistence.

4/14 148.6 BIG WIN TODAY!! After 6 months of low carb dieting my blood sugar tested normal this am, at 96. That is 1/3 of what it was testing in October. And what I have been working toward. The weight loss is secondary. I have just three pounds to go before I am no longer "overweight" by the charts. And will be a normal BMI. I hope to get there by the end of this challenge, but we know as we lose weight the weight comes off slower. It will be very sweet to get there. Doubly so if I can keep my blood sugar low (which means low carb, low carb, low carb!)

Thank you
for continuing this challenge. Thanks to everyone for the useful advice I read on this thread. There's lots of things I need to look at and consider, thanks all. Although I only look at this page once a week, it is reassuring to know that others are in the same situation as me and we are all making progress!
My aims for this month are to: get back to being active, reduce my bread/pasta/rice/potato intake, try to get at least 7 hours sleep a night and to return to tracking my meals - to get into 130-ville!
My name is Nikki, and I'm 5'3" (on a good day!). I'm based on the south coast in the UK. I'm in my 50s and work full time as a teacher. I'm pretty active - but there's always room for some more.
My GW is 133lb
my UGW is 126 - although that is very optimistic!
I weigh in on Thursdays, but get around to posting at the weekendsProgress so far:

We were away for a ballroom dance weekend and there was a lot of lovely food to choose from, and I wasn't very good at resisting temptation. I realise I don't have much weight to loose but I seem to be very good at gaining weight rather than losing weight. Time to draw a line and get myself back on track. Good luck to everyone for the last few days of this challenge!

Stuck in the low 170s for months. It is getting comical. I will persevere but this body is definitely at a plateau. I am going to have no wine this week and no evening snack. Surely, I will lose a pound by next week.
Went to yoga tonight. It was very peaceful, Great music, calming atmosphere and teacher.
On Wed. I am signed up for Pilates. I find if I sign up for these classes a week in advance, I honor my commitment. After work today, I really didn't want to go but I had to because I signed up.
Thanks for all of your comments. I enjoy reading how you are doing.
I do not like this new format. When you copy and paste from my notes, for example, there are so many spaces between lines. Not the worst thing in the world, but still annoying.
5 -
@RubyRed427 I post from my PC. I copy paste a word document. I'm not sure how it works on a phone but when I copy, then "paste as plain text" and it gives me single lines. It is in the same right click that I normally paste from. It eliminates the extra spaces (even where you may want them). If I need a double space, I just add it. Much quicker than eliminating all the other double spaces! I hope this helps.

4/8 Still 151.0 I kind of went off the rails on Sunday. I didn't eat over my calories but I ate late and high carb, so my BS went up and I had gained 1.5 pounds, prob mostly water weight and salt, yesterday. Now it's gone. Hopefully if I stay low carb and low sodium (and low calorie) I will lost a little this week.

I am going back on Wegovy. I lost 22 lbs being on it for 5 months in 2023 and I have gained back all but 6 lbs. The price has come down through my dr.s office so I am just throwing in the towel and using it again. My numbers should start to move again in about a week or so.

good luck with it. I hope it kick starts your weight loss. I have heard that once you go off these weight loss drugs, you can easily gain back what was lost. So maybe your doctor or a nutritionist can guide you on what to eat on maintenance, once you hit your target.

@patriciafoley1 The weight crept back very slowly…like it took 2 years. I know exactly why I regained the weight and am going to work my hardest to keep it off next time.

Two years is the snap of a finger. Go for it @SunnyDays930. Totally worth it.

I had my teeth cleaned today. At the end when she was ready to polish she asked if mint was O.K. I said "no give me something weird". I got key lime. One time I got sugar cookie. It was good. LOL

Hooray! I finally reached the 160s. This week, I snacked much less. I didn't have alcohol for 3 days and when I did I had no wine (vodka seltzer). I ate soups for lunch. And I worked out twice. All these little tasks made a difference. I have not seen the 160s in probably 6 years. Now, I need to keep losing slowly.
13 more days until the end of this challenge.
