😀 Ginny, Best wishes to you on your continuing recovery. My distress about the questions was that if I'd know ahead of time, I could have located the information about Jake's prior marriages. As it turned out, I suddenly remembered the maiden name of the woman he was married to before me and I was able to supply that information.
😀 About political stuff not being a good topic for me. Yesterday I talked to one of my neighbours who was Jake's good friend because they discussed politics all the time and had similar views and levels of righteous indignation. Annie was with me and I told my neighbour about how Annie got to go on a long ride to take a document to the Social Security Office and suddenly the conversation switched from talking about Annie to the neighbour going on and on about her opinion about Social Security and many other politically charged topics. I'll have to be more careful when I talk to her again.
😀 Machka, I agree that you are an Upholder with a leaning toward Questioner (or vice versa). You research everything and are a good self starter getting things done.
😀 Barbara, Many hugs to you for your water situation. How frustrating to have to keep waiting for the guy who can fix it.
😀 Tracey, you are correct that this slow response from Social Security would be a nightmare for people who need the income. Right after Jake died, I had three somewhat affluent friends offer to front me money if I needed it. I am fortunate to have my own pension from the job I worked for over 30 years. Gretchen Rubin said that she got her idea about the Four Tendencies when she talked to a friend who told her that she had been good about running every day when she was on a track team but couldn't seem to run now on her own.
😀 Rosemarie, I'm glad you got the battery powered mower. Jake bought one two years ago and I figured out how to use it. It's so easy to use and so nice to be able to keep the yard looking nice. I also have a battery powered leaf blower and trimmer.
😀 Today will be another beautiful day. I have several projects to work on in the yard.

Heard from my DS last night and his therapist this morning. Disappointed in both. Not ready to explain but neither are working on the REAL problem.
I have to avoid politics with my mother. She is a staunch Democrat, and I am registered as Republican because they lean more to my beliefs. Neither is a good choice in my opinion. I know. No Politics. But my point is my mother gets very excited and animated when discussing politics. I veer away from those conversations with her as much as possible! DH is very vocal about politics topics, however, he doesn’t vote and comments only on ‘stuffs’ he sees on TV or the Internet which most times are ‘bent’. I keep my thoughts to myself with these two!!
Our Shi Tzo,. Wicket doesn’t seem to be affected by Brownie being missing. Those two never got along, so maybe that is why, or perhaps her breed. They are not as intelligent as other small breeds. She won’t have anything to do with me, because I am the one that cleans her eyes and gives her her eye meds. She hides from me. I laugh, but want to hold her and she will have none of that. Our current neighbor and co-host has a pitbull mix who loves me to death. He is huge and very strong. I have to lean against something solid when I see this dog. He leans (hugs) on me with all his weight. Sometimes he pushes with the tail wagging his whole body and what looks like a smile on his face. If he sees me from his campsite, he ‘calls’ me to go over. LOL I think he likes me more than his owner! So I tell Jack “can I play with Zander?” And the owner will bring him out for me. It’s funny because as soon as Z sees me, he just about knocks his owner over trying to get to me. Needed doggy lovin’ I call it.
Thought for today:
What is the best present?

I managed to get some of the 'admin' associated with WHAT IF… I AM? done this morning. Blurb, categories, buzz words, size, finish etc. By which time I was burnt out , so decided to leave the upload for another day. I could have done it, but I didn't want to rush it. But it's progress. ☺️
I then chatted with G for a while. Her estrangement from her daughter is always so painful. She keeps trying. Her daughter has just brought out a photo book with a friend, to which she has written the text. My friend is proud of her, but it hurts. 😓
I went to the Co-op to buy some more, on sale, Haagen Dazs for next Monday. Not on sale any more! 😬 Exorbitantly expensive. I bought Ben & Jerry's instead, which was on sale. Plus organic eggs, and a red pepper to make halloumi curry for tonight. It's all prepped and ready to go with the spinach washed. Yum.
Trying out yet another 'hypoallergenic' mascara. I haven't found a perfect one yet. My eyes are supersensitive. The last one I had was OK, but smudged badly. Of course, hay-fever season isn't the best time to test it!
Slowly tidying up my bedroom by moving a few things elsewhere. I need help moving my very heavy 'memory boxes' upstairs. I hope to nab my son sometime, and also get him to take a load of junk from the garage to the tip. Eventually, I want to get another piece of furniture for storage, but I can't afford it right now with the room painting coming up. I do want a new bedside table though. The one I have, I curse daily. The trouble is, when you change one thing, everything else looks awful! 😏
I contacted my elder son about my going up to Nottingham for an overnight visit. I stay in a hotel near the castle and the Robin Hood statue. He hasn't got back to me yet with a date, but he was quite text chatty. His 'stepdaughter' has just got a Masters in Physics and has been accepted for a PGCE. A teaching qualification. I would think, with the dire shortage of science teachers, she could name her price and location when she qualifies.. 😁
No dates yet from my brother. I hope he's OK and has just forgotten.

Barbie - glad your "meeting" with Social Security is finally all wrapped up. Good they went through the exhaustive process to keep the phone "date" with you. When I have my Zoom prediabetes class meetings, I'm on MUTE most of the time otherwise my classmates would get to hear Rosie barking at the neighbor moving his garbage can or a cat cutting across the yard — on purpose I'm sure, just to set Rosie off.
Michele - How neat that you'll be able to bring your widowed neighbor something from the soup kitchen. Your deck replacement sounds like a major construction job minus the walls. For $30K (if I had it) I could probably get a roof extension and covered/screened in porch. Remind me to buy some lottery tickets. 😁
Lisa - very sorry to hear about your friend's dad. I don't think it was a surprise but still, very sad time for her. Great idea planting the rose in his honor.
Rebecca - nice surprise lunch! And you got to play the piano again. Have you ever played on a keyboard?
Tracey - that's neat Rodger us! My DH was familiar with you ladies too, and I miss not being able to tell him about you all. Usually he was nice enough to respond with "that's interesting."
Rosemarie - sorry to hear about your mom but it sounds like she's being well looked after. Aren't those battery powered mowers nice? Enjoy your trip to the coast.
Ginny - sending (((HUGS))). Did I read another grandchild is on the way?
Mo - finding a future job that doesn't involve lifting heavy patients sounds ideal. A neighbor of mine was a nurse in the NICU for a while and took a job visiting homes to check up on the little ones once they were dismissed. She also encountered some filthy homes and parents who needed refreshers on how to care for their babies. She was very glad to be back working in the hospital environment, the home visits were hard. I also like to watch Rocky Kanaka. Learning a lot from him about how to get along with scared abandoned dogs. "It's not your fault."
Barbara - glad you were able to get your showers in! Hope the "water guy" can find time to make some lasting fixes to the system. Good luck with the new BB&B class!
I have PT today at 11. All of the appointments were somehow pre-scheduled during all times of the day even though when I first went into the clinic, I told them early to mid-morning appointments were best. I'll keep the one at 11 and will cancel the rest of them scheduled for afternoons. I think I'm ready to "graduate" anyhow, back is feeling so much better.
Gotta hit the shower. Happy Wednesday!

The lady about the bathroom at the condo just called. There was a hickup. The main shut-off valve for the water for the condo broke. Well, it WAS old. But they do need to call in a licensed plumber. He’s able to do minor plumbing and electrical work, but this is beyond his scope. Well, Vince has done minor electrical work at home. Installed an outlet, changed a breaker, things like that. So we really didn’t have much of a problem having him do minor work. The plumber will be there tomorrow morning. They’re just going to pay the plumber and we’ll reimburse them at the time of our next payment. Always something
Lisa – when Bryan was in grade school there was a girl in his class who was abused and beaten to death. What they did was they planted an evergreen tree in her honor, something that would never die. What a lovely thought of you to buy that plant in your friend’s dad’s memory
Tracey – when I was VERY young we were down the Shore. I was in the ocean and the tide pulled me out. I still remember the feeling of not being able to touch the ground and of having only water above my head. To this day (well over 50 years later) I’m still uncomfortable in deep water
Mo – when Denise potty trained PJ, I seem to remember that he had a potty that played music, also.
Vince is downstairs right now working on building the computers.
The cats found that they likedl aying on the dining room table...lol My table pad has so many nail holes in it that it isn’t even funny. Last night I had an orange and some clementines and on a whim I put some of the peels on a dish on the table. So far, only Fred went on the table but he stayed far, far away from where the peels were. So I divided them and put the other plate on the other side of the table. We shall see what happens.
Mo – I agree with your friend about the hospice. You would be an absolute mess when someone passed, you get so involved. I’m calling that fish “tipsy fish” because his tail makes it so that he doesn’t sit upright. But we put them in the riverrock so it really won’t matter
There is this one guy at BK who constantly talks politics. To be honest, I really don’t know a lot of what he says but I just agree with him and nod. Then I just forget it all. Vince is constantly watching some sort of video about it. I just ignore most of it.
I really really want this one piece of bisque (ceramics) and this guy in MD has it. We were going to stop there when we saw PJ on his spring break but that one isn’t happening. But a friend of mine’s daughter is going to MD and said that she’d stop by and pick it up for me so I just wrote out the check to give her tomorrow.
Guess I should go to Aldi. Vince needs a few things.
Michele

What I have noticed is that various meds will work for a time, then just not, so you are having to switch it up to something else. Then there are all the offshoots of ailments you can get, the side effects of the meds. You have to weigh the "well at least its suppressing the Crohn's symptoms, but now I have this other thing going on" issues. That's what I have noticed reading all the threads on my FB's "Parents with kids with Crohn's". For the civilian world each new med involves trying to get the insurance company to approve it, and validate the switch. It sounds like a nightmare, especially if you have a young child in pain. With my son, being at the Navy hospital, and not having to deal with insurance issues, I am grateful.

Machka,
The shoes I am wearing are called " Alegria". They were my sisters, and she had gotten them from a friend who was a nurse on her feet all day. They were really comfortable from the get go. Here is a closeup view.
My sis and I wear the same size which is nice. She said she never wears them so I got them. They look fairly new.

I had a keyboard back in 2000, and it was nice with a seat, a way to plug in headphones, and it sounded pretty good. I am pretty particular about how the keys feel though. I like the feel of ivory keys and the "weight of sound" a piano has. On the good side, the guy that had clapped a couple times from his shop said in our conversation that he has a truck and would be willing to transport a piano to my place. I forgot to pick up one of his cards but I will next visit. Free pianos are always coming up on my For Sale sites on FB.👍🏼

Ginny good to hear from you, rest and heal well. Prayers continue.
Michele, raisins or currants are traditional, but you can substitute any dried fruit. The artisanal bakery in Boise used dried apricots… wasn’t to my taste.
Mo I love, love LOVE your smile, and your DH’s too.
Machka, Mo’s right, you ARE beautiful! And now your shoulder’s range of motion is full. Well done! Bravo Rowan!
Kylia, imho being barn cat failures is not a bad thing… ;}
Lisa I missed that about Mo’s DH’s phone, good eye! Father Brown was one of my favorites. Running out of Grantchester, gonna have to figure out how to get Britbox through my cable TV, no smart connection. Horrific dream, glad you were able to yank yourself out from falling back into it. Love the little ole lady Bad Boy.
Tina brava for walking with your DH. Inspiring. I should get up earlier and go with Joe.
Lanette Joe is with you in looking forward to complaining that 75F is too hot. ;) Love your insight about “how the ladies in this group are always here for each other through time.” Our tribe, our village, our chosen family. Thanks for the “A Spoonful of Murder - a murder mystery series similar to The Thursday Murder Club. Also have several other similar British detective books (series I think) on order from the library - The Marlow Club Murder, Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and Magpie Murders.” Recommendations. Just finished Clare Pooley’s “Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting” which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Rebecca Love the “Sisters in Sisters” pics.
Vicki, con VERY gratulations! Prayer said, you won’t freak out, but pace yourself. The first days of a new job are exhausting.
Heather thankful you ex is doing better, and updated you. What a relief.
Sue by any chance is your oven a Samsung?
Allie I hate those waivers. Does anyone’s dr ever order a test that isn’t medically necessary? Ugh.
Carol pain makes me cranky. You are doing a great job to “just live” with your DH’s hoard. ((hugs))
Margaret I’d heard the reason for breeding the dwarf, rust-resistant wheat was to make it better able to survive in places like Mexico, to help improve their food supply. Sad how the “green revolution”’s good intention to feed the hungry world had such a bad outcome.
Barbie this popped up in FB this morning, made me smile, though there’s at least one Maltese-wannabe lurking in the background … ;)
Only through pd 13 but past time to get up and move.
Gorgeous skies but chilly winds kept me inside… that and the carb craving baking frenzy. Tried my hand (twice) at hot cross buns. While not an epic fail (they’re tasty) the lemon curd crosses on one batch, and the cream cheese crosses on the second, completely melted and distorted. IF I ever try again, the piping will be done AFTER baking and glazing. I’ll have to really really want them to go through all the faff, even made candied citrus peel from scratch. SMH.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

A nice musical choice is a musician named "Claudio Constantini". I have a lot if his music on my Pandora site. He is a bandoneonist, and his music is very soothing to the ears. One of my favorite albums is called " An Imaginary Soundtrack".💖

Afternoon ladies
Long day for me today ,but a good day
Sean has had a rough go of it as of late.Jean called the cops and 5 showed up and questioned Sean, now Seans ID says that's his address ,but Jean is driving a car that has been in registered in new Hampshire for 20 yrs so her address is the cottage .which she no longer has ownership of.
The cops didn't bother asking for her ID and she took 5 boxes of trust files and took off,so think she might be having an affair with one of the cops..also she is catfishing for money..she is a true piece of work.
I got my hair cut and got Sean a haircut too..he needed a little pick me up

This sounds so confusing, Allie. They have certainly created a mess for themselves.
If she's the trustee for the trust, she can take the documents, can't she?
Do you mean to imply that she has created a false online identity to scam people out of money? That is definitely illegal, and if you have evidence, I would report her.
I'm sorry you have this stress. Can you ask your brother to keep you out of it temporarily so you can recover in peace?
Lovely day here today. We got our taxes in and paid, but it was stressful. And expensive. Hubby had to transfer money to pay, then in the stress, transferred to the wrong account,so had to transfer again, but in the meantime, we still have the initial transfer sitting in the wrong account. We are just thankful that it is still in an account we own and not some random persons account. I keep hoping this will stop being confusing and stressful. And we have accountants, so we feel even more annoyed. We pay them to do the work! All we want to worry about is signing. (Which was stressful for me because the esign wouldn't work for me) My blood pressure is rising a little just thinking about it. But it's done, and the feds have take their money, so we're just waiting for the state to pull theirs.
I hate tax time. 😫

Flea-I also hate tax time. I have no money every April and through May. Then, more goes out for estimates in June.
Allie-Be sure to take recovery time for yourself. Your body still needs plenty of time to heal.
Pip-So sorry about Yogi.
Fun little earthquake yesterday. The strongest and closest for about 15 years for us. I read that someone a few miles away had their water main crack because of it. So far, we haven't noticed damage other than the mister hurt his leg trying to get out of the house quickly. He's recovered from that and is just a grump today.
More trip planning for me. If I were not going with my very broke college student niece, I'd just pay a tour company.

Lisa yay for the BadBoy. Already saving your body and Corey’s. Would love to see a pic of the stone terrace.
Barbie love the pic of you on the John Deere.
Ginny really admire your food plans (chicken breast in salsa!) so soon after surgery. Well done and Brava for diligently ignoring the work computer/cell phone.

Michele, sorry I didn’t see and cannot find post about giving notice to BK. Can you pm it to me?
Machka gorgeous pics.

Kylia did you have your children when you were six or seven? 😁
Lanette what was “Edited by mfp staff” in/from your post on April 13?
Tracey “…I was hoping to spend some time with Rodger but that’s not happening. TV is more important to him.” This makes me sad. ((hugs)) Your post was “Edited by mfp staff” too?
Flea back in the day, when there were “issues” with a former employee, there was a code phrase, kind of like “s/he always came to work appropriately dressed.” But that’s not it, can’t remember it exactly, but it was like a giant red flag to the calling HR person.

Barbara – unfortunately, Vince won’t eat any dried fruit. It’s too “sticky”.
I one time got these white wheat rolls that you bake. They were so good! Aldi didn’t sell it so I’m hoping that it was WalMart where I bought them
The contractor about the deck is supposed to come here at 4. Honestly, I would prefer not to go with him. But it can’t hurt to get a price quote.
While I was at Aldi Jess called and spoke to Vince. This one company in Charlotte is sending her an offer. What a sweet deal she got! Well, she worked hard for it. At one point we didn’t think she’d ever achieve her dream. And now……
I worked today, I’m not working tomorrow (the mgr is going to talk to that girl) and I told the mgr that unless I hear from her, she can count that I’ll be there Fri. You never know what will come up. What if that girl’s babysitter gets sick? She can’t come to work and so the mgr can’t speak to her.
The plan is to do a short(maybe 45 minutes) basic step DVD and then pilates
Getting dinner ready. Just going to give Vince a hot dog since he likes to eat early since he has bowling. See, I used to be on this league. There are only 2people on the team. Well, one person had to drop out. She had respiratory problems and couldn’t even walk across the room without getting out of breath. So my neighbor subbed for her but now she feels (please don’t ask me to explain this) that at night it’s just too late (we get out before 9 and start around 6:30). So basically, we disbanded that team since when we’re bowling the vacancy, I would be the only person bowling. So I’m a sub if they need one (I highly doubt it). I just go more for support and to do some crafting.
Well, the other guy came and gave us an estimate about $4,000 lower. There are some positives and negatives. So we’ll probably get one more estimate. One thing this guy talked about which made me feel better was permits that they’d get.
Tina – do you have to leave the house every time there’s an earthquake? I would have thought that like in the basement would have been the place to go. Where do you go?
Looks like the battery on my pedometer is low. Now I get the fun job of figuring out how to change it….lol

Lisa - I had to turn our heat up tonight.
It’s supposed to be 17 on Saturday though.
My brother has dealt with getting two houses demolished. Our grandparents and parents. He had an awful battle with the power company on our grandparents. Our grandmother had moved out in 2007 and the power was shut off. However, when it came time for him to tear the house down in 2010, a year after she passed, they wanted her permission to have the wires taken down. He finally told them that he was tearing the house down on such and such a date and if they didn’t come he would just do it himself. They showed up the next day.Ginny - I hope you’re getting lots of rest.
Machka - I’m looking forward to the long weekend. We get three days, I bet you get four.
Mo - I know that currently you are in pediatrics, but have you ever thought of a nursing home? Our RN’s only have to lift in emergencies and there are motorized lifts available. Of course, there is the palliative side of it, but I think you would care for them so well during that transition. Our staff only work 7.75 hour shift as well.
Barbie - trying to avoid political talks in these times seems to be a difficult task.
Funny story, may be construed as political though so I’ll put it in a spoiler.
We have a federal election coming up in a couple of weeks. There are signs for our residents to tell them where they will vote in the home. Yesterday one of the residents was going out for a coffee with her daughter. Her daughter was reading the sign for her and she just kept interrupting her daughter saying, I don’t want to vote for Trump. Her daughter just said, “dont worry Mama he won’t be on the ballot.” [/spoiler]Rita - I have a couple of dogs that I just love. One of them is coming to visit in a couple weeks!
Heather - I look forward to your new book. I may have to wait until late May or June before purchasing a copy though.
It will be nice to have a visit with your son.Rebecca - I bet you would get a lot of pleasure from a piano.
Barbara - I think it’s a shame what has happened to so much in our world that we thought was going to be good for it.
I don’t know that that is “edited by MFP staff.” Hmm
It was my post that explained the length of time for notice that Machka quoted.Allie - I agree with Flea if she is catfishing people she should be reported.
I hope Sean finds a way out of there soon. He needs a lawyer I think.Michele - Congratulations to Jess.
My heart breaks for that poor young girl at BK. I have managed and supervised 100’s of people whose first language wasn’t English and we were always able to get along and communicate. There has to be a willingness to work together though.
I had my doctor’s appointment today. I was expecting him to want to put me on meds for cholesterol but he didn’t. My Triglycerides are on the high end of the normal range and my HDL is a bit low, he said this is mostly hereditary and hard to get up, but gave me some things to try.
My A1C was good, so was everything else. I told him that’s all great, but I really don’t feel well. We are going to try HRT to see if I feel a difference.Rodger visited with me this evening before retiring to the bedroom to watch shows I’m not interested in.
He is getting a raise this year because they ratified a new collective agreement, and another raise because he’ll be driving a different piece of machinery this summer. He sounds excited about it and I am breathing a sigh. It will still be tight, but maybe there is a little dot of light at the end of the tunnel.Well I should head to bed.

I've uploaded my book today! 😀 Phew! It'll be out in a couple of days, I think, on Amazon. The Kindle version is a bit untidy on the title pages, but I think Kindle readers are used to that! The print version looks fine, from the preview. I've kept the price as low as I can, so that more people can read it. I hope you will. 😍💝
Here is the blurb, to give you a flavour.
WHAT IF… I AM? is a joyous tribute to the precarious everyday miracle of our being here at all. The Big Bang, the origins of life, our near extinctions, our own inheritance and personal history, are all here, in an inspiring examination of the unique process that brought each of us to this place, at this time.
Taking us into the present day, Heather Eyles reminds us of the power of our habits and choices, and she shows us that we always have the ability to change our lives for the better by asking ourselves, 'What if ...?'
I'll let you know when it goes live.
I didn't know I was going to get all that done this morning, but one small step led to another ... as it so often does. 🤗
Bea this afternoon.

I thought so!!
The Mary Jane style, similar to yours, go for about $200 here. But I found a reputable site that was selling different ones for $36/pair. So I ordered 4 pair of different Alegria shoes a couple months ago. 2 pair did not work for my feet, but 2 pair do.
I asked the company how to return the 2 pair that did not fit, and they told me to take them to a charity shop, which I did. I think they were off-loading old stock.
The two I kept are slip ons. I have needed to stretch the toe box, but otherwise, they are very comfortable. 😊

A couple racist comments (and the quotes inadvertently containing those comments, because we can't trim our quotes anymore) were removed. The comments didn't belong in our thread. Lanette's and Tracey's posts were fine.
I hope she's not!! The girl didn't do anything wrong.
Maybe she'll get promoted. 😊
My heart breaks for that poor young girl at BK. I have managed and supervised 100’s of people whose first language wasn’t English and we were always able to get along and communicate. There has to be a willingness to work together though.
Tracey, my heart breaks too … especially that she could be facing a hostile situation at work. She's done nothing wrong. She got a job in good faith. She's trying to earn a living. I hope BK treats her well. Many people from other countries can be skilled, well-educated, intelligent people … but it can be hard to get a foot in the door if a person comes from a different country.
Even when I moved to Australia, I started by volunteering for a while, then got a job working in a cherry packing shed for a couple months before I got into a position using my education and experience.
And you're right, we don't need to speak the same language to be able to communicate. I was amazed at how well I was able to communicate in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan, even though I didn't speak the language.
