Ginny ~ Thank you for your explanation about your surgery and the results of the thyroid cancer procedure. So sorry you had to go through all that leaking. I am sure that was very scary.
Margaret ~ As usual you have shared lovely photos of the interesting places you visit. Glad you enjoyed singing on Easter.
Lisa ~ What a blooming mess! Not only does it look like HARD WORK, it looks DANGEROUS! 🚛🚜
We went to our DnL's mother's home for Easter and it was nice to have a small family gathering. The food was tasty and as usual too much. 🥗

After a 2 minute rain here in the desert. The white one is digitalis. Next are tree yuccas, these are very tall, but there are some exactly like these that are less than 4 ft tall. Not sure what the others are called except the last pinkish purple one at the bottom. That is from the Salt Cedar (Tamarisk) trees. Just a tiny bit of rain makes the desert bloom!

All we can do is keep the communication going, the door open, and let it not affect our visits with ones that do visit.💖 I will not be that sad mom that wishes for others to visit while woeing about it. I just let it go. I do my best, see them when I wish to travel (to them) and be glad I have my health to make that choice. Hugs to you and your famly.💖🙏

Michele-The advice for earthquakes is to stand and brace under a supporting doorway or get under a heavy piece of furniture, but we go outside to a solid part of the yard when possible. In all honesty, if it’s a big one, you just cannot move fast enough. There is no warning. My theory for going outside is that by the time the roof crashes in, we can possibly be outside and it’s safer.
The mister is having a lot of bad days lately. One of the screws in his leg moved by 6mm. It’s causing him a lot of pain. He might need another surgery sooner than is desired to fix that. He’s waiting on approval from insurance to see a ortho trauma specialist. If only we could get medical help when we need it and not when insurance dictates it.
In the meantime I’m planning a trip to Ireland with my niece in the summer. Hopefully, I’ll get to go.Hope you all have a great week.

Carol - adorable grands! Yes, very tall and becoming young adults. Time is flying, isn't it?
Lisa - wow, that's a lot of trash moved! What a relief to see that mess loaded and gone. Makes a person wonder if you'll find some human bones under a pile of debris. 🤔 I'm reading too many murder mysteries, lol.
Kylia - sounds like you had a good weekend and got a lot accomplished. I loved looking at the midwestern flora! I have Creeping Charlie here that is really invasive and wants to take over the south side of my house and sidewalk. Also, your plant with myriad of yellow blossoms on tall stalks looks like our Tansy Ragwort. But the leaves don't appear to look like the plant we have out here so it probably isn't. WA state has deemed Tansy a noxious weed and has a program for eradication, probably because it pops up in hayfields and is poisonous to horses. We had some in the hayfields on the farm that we'd get after when we spotted it. It had no effect on sheep.
Barbie - how nice of your friend to bring you some of their holiday dinner. The food sounds great and the best part - you didn't have to change clothes and make allowances for Annie. Looks like Wednesday will be warm and good mow weather in my area.
Allie - I'm glad they are keeping a close eye on you.
Ginny - so sorry to hear about the leak. Thank you for the explanation about thyroid cancer. Hoping everything can be kept under control for a long long time and you can enjoy your retirement without a lot of fuss!
Years ago my DH had a leg on his wound that leaked fluid a lot. We discovered that wrapping a feminine hygiene pad (or a female incontinence pad) and holding it in place with a loose Ace bandage helped control the leak. I keep around a box of Maxi-pads here for that reason (or in case of a bloody gash to bide time on the way to the doctor.)
Have a good week, ladies!

Many eons ago when my Mom was in the hospital (trying NOT to have me, I was too early), my Dad was on another floor getting a large lesion removed from his back. My Mom used a large Kotex as part of his aftercare wound regiment. My Dad was horrified😂😂! That's how the story went, anyways!

Carol agree with delightful picture of Grandkids!
Allie cuter everyday!
The detective murder mystery was fun. They gave a clue the clue was in the name tag. I over thought the process and guessed someone else. Still he was the other part of the perfect pair. If you go back and see what name I suggested to my friend who got me the tickets at half price you will get the answer. If you don't care too I will reveal it tomorrow. It turns out she was the murderer another Clue. She sat right next to me and I had to pretend I didn't know her. I said at the end it is good I didn't guess her because I would have disqualified myself because I knew her. My friend who went by Lacey and and I (Cagney) had a good time. I did get up to use restroom near the end and some thought it was me because I was acting suspicious because of my relationship to my friend who was it. I think this was part of the plan to deflect guilt from her. It was fun to play that part! All in good fun! We were also able to walk to the venue because it was so close to my house. It was a good way to burn out the flour less chocolate torte they had for dessert. To live for. So yes I do allow myself an occasional treat. It helps me keep on track.
Another Clue…The person who was it has the same name as someone we dearly love here!

MFP Weekly Check-In for April 21, 2025
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Ugh. Combination of champagne, chocolates and constipation, weekly average WT up to 133.9 from last month's 132.9. This morning's 135.6 was highest since last June! That's enough: wine, baking, See's, just enough!!!
Lanette in SW WA State – weight 164.5, same as last week on “weigh in” day despite jump earlier in the week. Step average 7866, down from last week. Total activity minutes 255. Doing PT exercises, house walking with weight again, with modified light Farmer’s carry and suitcase carry - OK per physical therapist. Glad the holiday eating is done for a while.

Kylia – you sure were busy yesterday! Dandelion wine is REALLY good
barbie – yes, it WAS good to hear from PJ. Just wish we could have gone up there while he was on spring break. Denise said they were looking at buying a new house. A model home hasn’t even been built. Don’t ask me why we couldn’t come up during his spring break. She said a while ago that they were looking to move in July. I don’t think that’s going to happen.
Vince is talking about starting to mow the grass tomorrow. Supposedly it’s not supposed to start raining until noon so he figures he can at least get some done. Well, my feeling is that I’ll come home and help him, but as to time, that’s anybody’s guess. Update: Looks like it's not going to rain so we'll probably get the whole yard mowed. Which will be good since I'll be able to get the stakes put out under the power lines and start to paint the posts we use at Halloween/Christmas on the "fence"
Ginny – how scary for you!
Well, the 4th(and last) guy came here with C to look at the deck. He said that it’s beyond his scope. He’s built decks but not one this big. So he’s out, and the one with the quote that made me choke is out. Now Vince wants to do some more research and then we’ll probably make up our minds.

Well, I have a story to tell. TLDR: I got scammed out of $20 at the grocery store.
long version: my personal reflection during my devotion time each day had revealed to me that if I’m going to behave in a way that it is not a witness for my faith, it will be at the grocery store. I have confessed my misdeeds and snarkiness at Sunday School, Bible Study, in my journal, and in my prayers. The ladies at the deli who don’t have the food out or make only high carb sides with nothing green, the employees who shop for the curb pick-up people taking up the whole aisle with their huge carts, people who stop right in front of the item I need and take forever to choose what they want, it just goes on and on and I have really, really been working on being a better person at the grocery store. I shop at Kroger, which has a customer service desk that sells stamps, money orders, wore money, and all sorts of stuff. I was doing my weekly shopping about a month ago, working on not letting the petty annoyances trigger me, when I became aware of a man talking on his phone, begging someone to wire him some money, saying he was hungry, blah, blah, blah. He sounded sincere, he didn’t ask me for money, but I was moved to hand him $20 out of my wallet. He thanked me, told the person on the phone he had $20 and continued begging them to help him out. I moved on. I had a feeling it may have all been a hoax, but I was ok with my act of kindness because, well, I’m trying to behave at the grocery store. Today on the local Facebook group, someone posted about this same man being at Kroger again with the same story on the phone and warning people not to fall for it. Others chimed in that they had seen him at Walmart doing the same thing. Oh, well, he got me. At the end of the day, I am not ashamed of my decision. Sure, I paid $20 of stupid tax, but at least I didn’t get all snarky with the deli lady or the cashier (this time, anyway).11 -
Belated welcome @Purplecat52 ! Logging food is a real eye-opener. Would you let us know what you like to be called and your general locale?
Lanette and Tracey, Mama gave me Toni perms every six months from when I started school until I was 13 and put my foot down ;}
Kylia and Lisa wow, what accomplishments! Exhausted just reading them all.
Margaret con very grats on the numbers, love the selfie of you in flowers on the red carpet.
Allie and Ginny (gentle hugs held extra extra long)
Kay imho, not a $20 stupid tax, just obeying Luke 6:30.
There was more but one of Lisa’s brain glitches got me. Yeah I’ve probably experienced them all, but I live in the “doorway” and “can’t see in plain sight” ones ;)
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Allie - I hope the doctors can figure out what’s wrong with you. Sheesh you need a break with medical stuff.
Kylia - I happy to read you had a completely no work day. You take too much home. Love your violets and truthfully I don’t mind the dandelions.
Rather those than the poisons people use to get rid of themLisa - Egg sure is well taken care of.
What a lot of trash! All of that work will pay off.Ginny - I hope that’s the last of your leaking and you’re well on the mend now.
Margaret - I love the photos.
Rebecca - you have such a positive attitude.
Tina - I would love to go to Ireland.
Lanette -You said what I thought about the trash piles at Lisa’s. I too watch too many murder mysteries.
Michele - I hope you get the deck you want and need.
Kay - those people sure know how to get us don’t they?
It was 7 years ago tonight that I took my first swimming lesson. I had promised myself I would learn before I turned 50. I did it.
It was a Monday at work. The weather was a bit crappy too so that didn’t help
I’m heading to bed soon, I did not sleep well last night. I was awake from 2-5ish. Of course, I was sleeping soundly when the alarm went off. Now I’m tired.

Oouuff! Yesterday was a marathon, but it all went well and I think the kids enjoyed themselves. They certainly loved the pancake lunch! John took them out to the park for an hour or so in the afternoon, to play cricket. They invented board games, we did art, and they loved John's Easter Quiz. Max joined in all the activities, apart from the art, and was very patient with the two girls, telling funny stories to make them laugh. They were funny.😝
After early dinner, we got on the bus to take them home. They settled down to a bit of TV and ipads, and put themselves to bed, because they have school tomorrow! The parents got back at 10. So, it was 12 hours in all. I was OK, except my back started to twinge, after cooking 16 pancakes, and doing art. I must do more back exercises. 🙄
Up in London, the parents had an Indian lunch, went to an art gallery, mocktails on the roof, and a concert of Vivaldi's Four Seasons at St Martin-in-the-Fields. They came home very happy.
My son brought us home, where John and I relaxed for a while with a recorded TV favourite, and a Pernod. Late to bed, but with a sense of achievement.
We are back today with picking up Bea from school. How lucky we are! 🕺💃
So sorry to read about so many horrible medical woes. I hope you all make good recoveries, and the ailing husbands. 💖

Sprung another leak last night! Not as extreme as earlier. Initial bandage made it through the night and I actually slept fairly well.
Leaving for doctor in about an hour (office is an hour away). Hopefully no leaks on the way-will take a couple of washcloths and extra shirt in case. Hoping doc has magic answer and I can resume normal diet. Really shouldn't complain-these are my worst recovery woes ever and I know I am fortunate.
Take care all,

Ginny - Complain all you need to, dear heart. That kind of leakage is unnerving! Thank you for letting us know what's going on with you, and especially the explanation of your surgeries and what they were looking for.
Tracey - You reminded me of my "by the time I'm 50" story:
Saying I'd do something by the time I turned 50 is part of how I ended up divorced. I made that statement while I was on the phone with my brother on New Year's Eve the year I turned 47.
I was in a hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, and my flight crew and I had a 24-hour layover (I was a flight attendant). They had like four more hours that they could keep drinking, and had gotten swacked on a half case of Captain Morgan's spiced rum they'd bought off a passenger who couldn't take it on a plane…
I didn't drink much at all, so I called the only person I knew would be up that late at night, just to talk. I told my brother I was going to wait, and if nothing else changed, I'd divorce my husband when I turned 50.
He asked me, "Why wait? What's going to change in three more years that hasn't changed in the last 27?" I didn't have an answer. Got back home quite early in the morning the following day, walked in and looked at my sleeping husband and thought, "I'd rather die alone than live with you."
Put together a few funds over the next few months, and I left in May of 2008, was divorced by November, and married Corey in 2009. And lived happily ever after. 🥰
By the way - I am not a good secret keeper, but the only thing my husband noticed during the next four months was that I stopped holding his hand. He was pretty oblivious.
As far as swimming goes, the boyfriend I was had at 18 was an ex-Navy guy and a scuba diver, and he took me out in the apartment complex pool where we lived. He taught me how to tread water first.
He would stand on the bottom of the shallow end of the pool just at the drop-off, and, keeping me at arm's length in the deep end, he could help me if I started to sink. Once I could tread water, he taught me how to swim, and then took me scuba diving. It was pretty cool.
Heather - So supremely glad you get this time with your grands, and even more so after reading your book. Knowing you made the right move so you're in the right place, doing the right things with people you love so much is so joyful. Seemingly small things bring such huge consequences for you all. It sounds as if they all enjoy it enormously, and will treasure every memory.
That's it - I'm too verbose to be writing today! My cup runneth over, I guess.
Oh - and I did figure out why Egg was nowhere to be seen Easter morning besides just the rainstorm. She was scared the kids next door would put her in a basket and take her away while they were hunting for Easter eggs. Bahahahaha! 🥰🐾🐈⬛That's a yolk, son… 🤪
Lordie, I have to stop now, 😅
Love y'all,

😀 Ginny, you have been a real hero with all the challenges to your recovery. Your attitude is inspiring.
😀 Heather, your move to Hove has brought you so many blessings.
😀 Michele, after my mother died and we moved into her house, we found out that the deck was unstable and needed to be replaced. At that time (1991) the cost was over $30,000. I asked Jake what would happen if we didn't replace it and he said that either we couldn't use it or someone would step in the wrong place and be seriously injured. I can't even imagine what it would cost today. The bigger the house, the bigger the maintenance woes.
😀 Kay, you learned a good life less and it cost only $20.00
😀 Lisa, I love reading your post every day
☹️ Tracey, sorry you lost so much sleep.

Another stunner from Como…
Watched some Dr. Berg Videos on the Kidneys. I learned what he thought caused Kidney stones. They can either be from high calcium levels or high uric acid. I am more in the uric acid category. The high uric acid is caused by dehydration or high animal protein consumption . I now know why they recommend a higher plant based diet for people my age low animal products. I still will watch oxalate consumption. If I do have higher oxalate food to have less and eat with yogurt or small amount of cheese like mozzarella or an aged cheddar. This helps buffer the oxalate in the food. I am definitely upping my water. He did recommend starting the day with water and lemon juice followed by an apple cider and water chaser then plain water for your teeth.
His theory on how they form I found interesting. He likened it to barnacles on a ship. They have found inside kidney stones are bacteria. These bacteria create a bio film using calcium to protect themselves. You find this result in other parts of your body too. Tartar on teeth, plaque in arteries, cataracts, plaques that cause dementia, kidney stones…These bacteria love sugar and high levels of animal protein for food (hence the importance of a low sugar diet, moderate to no animal protein.) If you opt to have Kidney stones broken up by ultra sonic be aware this will release these bacteria. So you would think he would recommend an antibiotic to get these bacteria. The problem is they are clever little buggers. They just build stronger walls. Hence more plaque more stones down the road. What is a better solution is to use a natural antibiotic GARLIC. Hydrate with lemon water, water, apple cider vinegar, green tea. Strengthen your immune system with a low sugar, high fiber, plant based diet, with low animal protein. I find this fascinating and a game changer in how I will adjust my diet from here. It makes sense to me.

The murder was Bar-B-clue. Clue was part of her name. I understand why she liked my suggestion for her name. I guessed the other part of the perfect pair Capt. Kenda. Turns out Ken was killed in a bad accident and she was out for revenge. She told me to call her Barbie.
I would like to go again. Now I know better how to play the game. I had fun with it before, during, and after the game!

Tracey, awe, well I try. Sayings come to mind, from my Mother growing up. She would tell me to smile often at the world, because then the world will smile back at you. It makes the world a prettier place to look at for you, and for them. So my resting *kitten* face I try to smile. Of course she also told us daughters to "tuck our butts" when walking. Then there's the "sparkle your eyes" bit too. Both were comedy bits to run with. We had a long hallway with a long mirror at the end. My Mom would have us walk doing those things and though she was quite serious, I looked more like a crazy person looking for a bathroom. She tried...😂🙃😂
