4/16: 209.3 - Expecting a bump and bloat on the scale from the long plane ride in addition to just getting home from vacation indulgence. BUT I walked a ton and didnβt really snack much at all. Then there was all the interesting and challenging food LOL! Loved the experience and tried almost everything but letβs just say that sometimes I did better than others. 3 of the excursions included βauthentic Japanese cuisineβ which those meals were more more challenging. When DH and I struck out on our own we found food we enjoyed. Iβll post some pics.

4/17: 209.1 - Hopefully my internal clock is reset β¦ woke at a normal time after adjusting from the 14 hr time difference between Tokyo and Houston. Bike 20 min. AF β¦ Fast food for dinner and frozen pizza for dinner β¦ not a great way to live a healthy life.
4/18: 208.4 - Happy Good Friday! Attending a family & friends crawfish boil today where Iβll get to see my little granddaughters for the first time since we returned from vacation. While we did FaceTime during the trip with them and saw how much they grew over the past month β¦ it is always wonderful to experience those hugs and smiles in person. Bike 20 min
4/19: 209.2 - After a crawfish boil I fully expected this bump. Hope it is temporary! Walked a mile plus and slept β¦ a lot even taking a morning nap and then a 4 hour afternoon nap.
4/20: 208.5 - Now Iβm up at 2:30am wide awake. Really struggling to get back in sync with the time zone after vacation. No exercise.
4/21: 209.1 - Woke up thirsty and hungry β¦ that was a strange feeling. No exercise and too much food!
Loss this challenge: 3.64/22: 209.6 - no exercise
4/23: 209.3 - Hmmmmmmm I've been hungry and feeling like I'm eating all the time though in reality I'm not. But I've got to stop the crackers and cheese before dinner β¦ just need to move up dinner time!4 -
Didn't exercise yesterday, but went for two walks and went to Ikea. Lots of walking at Ikea but also had a strawberry frozen treat (they are vegan, it was really good. made mostly of stawberry puree). No change in weight this morning, but 7 day trending weight is up. I need to dial in my nutrition if I'm going to make my weekly goal weight.

@dawnbgethealthy I do laundry-workout like that too! Put in a load, exercise, change the laundry, do stretches and foam rolling, then change the laundry again and fold the first load. Multi-tasking at its best!

@JimnKC I hope you take this as encouragement. Just noticed you have 'no exercise' in your most recent posts. I hope everything is ok and you don't have an injury that is keeping you from the gym.

@frankwbrown Love your challenge graph. Isn't it great the way a picture is so powerful. I hope you take this as encouragement: Looks like you are hovering around 260. 25 days left in this challenge and 8 months left in the year. It might be time to reflect on what worked so well in year 1 and evaluate how to incorporate more of that in year 5. To meet your year 5 goal you need to target 1 pound loss per week. Generally speaking that is a daily 500 calorie deficit or a weekly 3500 calorie deficit. I looked at your MFP profile to see if you are logging your food. Your diary is locked. Are you logging your food?

@dawnbgethealthy Woot Woot! You have made the goal this past week from the start of the last 100. You have absolutely been slaying it lately! Perhaps it's the bit of breakfast that has been helping. Or perhaps the start of this year's gardening (or both?). Whatever it is, it's working! Congratulations!

I had 5 wings last night - they come 11 to the frozen box, and I had 6 the last time. I also had a couple of cocktails and other snacks. Blue skies today, no clouds, no wind. It was 1c when I got up, but is 3c right now. By the time I finish my coffee and do a few Fitness Marshall songs it will be a bit warmer. HUGE list today for my only day off, even though I would rather just read a book and do nothing. Very busy week ahead for the next 6 days, I had better do laundry first and then get going on the rest. I can workout before it is ready to hang/put into the dryer.
Day 79β04/23β 147.4 - Great deal of activity yesterday. I have gotten used to a gain after the first day of a very long stint getting the garden going (or putting it to bed in the fall). So much squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, bending, digging. Big salad last night which for some reason also always causes me to gain. I'm sure that it will even out in the coming days. I got 3 rows of 9 done in the potato garden, shovelful by shovelful. Planted. No time again until next Tuesday. I am going to try to take off next Wednesday as well because it took a full day to get 3 rows done.
I went for a small walk at another trail in the evening (Isadore Canyon) and the crocuses are up!

Yes, still trying to have a tiny bit of breakfast, and also keeping up the 1/4 cup of granola with 1/2 cup of probiotic yoghurt (plain) every day, my new "lunch". I feel like the latter might be making my gut more efficient? I can easily gain 3 pounds in one day, but generally can only lose .2 of a pound per day when am actually losing. Doesn't feel fair lol.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
Approximately this time last year (Challenge #15) I began to slowly gain weight throughout the rest of my winter and well into my Spring. I am still battling some of those pounds as we start this new challenge. This is a new opportunity to prove to myself and my family that I AM serious about getting healthier. I know I have bad eating disorders that bring about horrible eating habits. I also battle cravings because I havenβt gotten away from sugar or chocolate long enough to stop the cravings. I have such a long way to go and only a sketchy road to get there but Iβll never give up on myself or lose faith in my strength or my resolve. Iβll admit that Iβm not super confident that I will ever be in the 140βs again (my ultimate goal), but I AM 100% confident that I will shed these 190βs like a bad dream and NEVER weigh this much again. I donβt know when this will happen exactly. But I do know that it will. Thanks for sharing my journey and letting me travel with you on yours.

Iβm quite sure TMI helped as well as the raking and burning I did for several hours yesterday. Possible rain today. I have a lot of projects inside too so Iβll be watching the skies to see if Iβll be working inside or outside. Dr. appointment was disappointing. My blood sugar A1C went back up to 8 point something from 7.0 as tested on Dec. 18th. That is putting me back into some very bad numbers where lots of other health issues start coming along. I canβt afford the GLP-1 meds for diabetes he is recommending so if I donβt turn this around, I could end up on insulin. Iβve fought hard against it. Iβve got to get my *kitten* together and get this done!

Good morning!
Ok....I am officially going senile. I had the wrong dates listed in my last post. All fixed now, but SHEESH!
@deepwoodslady , I can't take the GLP-1 meds either. That's because the side effects were too much to handle. That's why I came back to MFP and started back losing weight the old fashioned way. I envy anyone who can use it, but life isn't always fair. I am insulin dependent right now and I want to get off it.

I had 5 wings last night - they come 11 to the frozen box, and I had 6 the last time. I also had a couple of cocktails and other snacks. Blue skies today, no clouds, no wind. It was 1c when I got up, but is 3c right now. By the time I finish my coffee and do a few Fitness Marshall songs it will be a bit warmer. HUGE list today for my only day off, even though I would rather just read a book and do nothing. Very busy week ahead for the next 6 days, I had better do laundry first and then get going on the rest. I can workout before it is ready to hang/put into the dryer.
Day 79β04/23β 147.4 - Great deal of activity yesterday. I have gotten used to a gain after the first day of a very long stint getting the garden going (or putting it to bed in the fall). So much squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, bending, digging. Big salad last night which for some reason also always causes me to gain. I'm sure that it will even out in the coming days. I got 3 rows of 9 done in the potato garden, shovelful by shovelful. Planted. No time again until next Tuesday. I am going to try to take off next Wednesday as well because it took a full day to get 3 rows done. I went for a small walk at another trail in the evening (Isadore Canyon) and the crocuses are up!
Day 80β04/24β 146.6 - Ran home from one job, ate my yoghurt and granola, swiped on some lipstick and headed to the next job. Full packed day tomorrow, doctor (for a knee referral) in the morning before work, appointment after work, and then a play at our small theatre. Split shifts Saturday Sunday, Monday my day job and then a job in the dining room of the Retirement home. I am going to take an extra day off of 2 jobs next week, because the potato bed is not going to turn over its own soil and get planted.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
Approximately this time last year (Challenge #15) I began to slowly gain weight throughout the rest of my winter and well into my Spring. I am still battling some of those pounds as we start this new challenge. This is a new opportunity to prove to myself and my family that I AM serious about getting healthier. I know I have bad eating disorders that bring about horrible eating habits. I also battle cravings because I havenβt gotten away from sugar or chocolate long enough to stop the cravings. I have such a long way to go and only a sketchy road to get there but Iβll never give up on myself or lose faith in my strength or my resolve. Iβll admit that Iβm not super confident that I will ever be in the 140βs again (my ultimate goal), but I AM 100% confident that I will shed these 190βs like a bad dream and NEVER weigh this much again. I donβt know when this will happen exactly. But I do know that it will. Thanks for sharing my journey and letting me travel with you on yours.

Iβm quite sure TMI helped as well as the raking and burning I did for several hours yesterday. Possible rain today. I have a lot of projects inside too so Iβll be watching the skies to see if Iβll be working inside or outside. Dr. appointment was disappointing. My blood sugar A1C went back up to 8 point something from 7.0 as tested on Dec. 18th. That is putting me back into some very bad numbers where lots of other health issues start coming along. I canβt afford the GLP-1 meds for diabetes he is recommendingso if I donβt turn this around, I could end up on insulin. Iβve fought hard against it. Iβve got to get my *kitten* together and get this done!
π° π°π° π°π° Day 80β04/24β195.2 β (Trend weight: 196.0) Itβs finally all coming back to haunt me. Iβve been eating a LOT of restaurant food due to how busy Iβve been. At night, Iβve started to just grab my nut snack (type varies) out of the container without measuring or counting them out so I know the quantities have been too high. I havenβt done that in years, honestly. I donβt want to start developing any bad habits! I got about 6 more hours of burning in yesterday but no more raking. Although not even half done with the raking, my piles are already too high so Iβll continue to focus on the burning for now. However, at some point the raking and branch removals will have to start back up or Iβll never be able to have it mowed! I hope you will all enjoy your day.

@deepwoodslady Re eating out at restaurants β> I found these 12 tips online. My favourites from the list are:
- Watch alcohol and sugary drinks β> drink water instead. It is easier on the bank account too.
- Don't skip meals ahead of time β> I used to think that if I'm going out for dinner I should not eat earlier in the day to 'save up the calories', but I find, I'm better off to focus on eating protein earlier in the day and this way I'm less likely to overeat when out for dinne.
- On the menu β> look for keywords such as grilled, steamed, or baked when choosing entrees and ask for substitutions β> extra veggies instead of fries, dressing on the side
- Avoid big portions β> I'll order two appetizers instead of an appetizer and and entre. I also will often ask for half the serving to be packed up in take away containers.
Re eating nuts in the evening β> I have this same issue. I used to pour myself a small bowl of nuts, eat it quickly and then go for more. Now, I first drink a glass of water and sit back down. If after 10 or 15 minutes, I still want nuts, I take no more than 10 (I'm serious, I count them), sit down and eat each one one at a time. The second one does not go into my mouth until the first one is completely chewed and swallowed. This has reduced the portion size down to maybe 10% of what I used to have.

@dawnbgethealthy I'm exhausted just reading your entry. Best of luck with the garden. I keep telling my husband that I want a garden and then he keeps reminding me that our plant track record is pretty dismal.
@Crochetluvr Good on you to do some spring clean out. I need to do that, but mostly with my husband's stuff. He keeps everything. I go through my stuff at least every other year to ensure I'm not hanging on to things just for the sake of hanging on to them.
@Zaxa2021 The drop might be due to the soup you made. I always feel so full with soup, but generally speaking, the calories are lower for the volume.

Active recovery day, but a relatively busy day yesterday - eye appointments, Costco, walk the dog, second walk without the dog, yoga, cleaned bathrooms. I had 5 wings last night - they come 11 to the frozen box, and I had 6 the last time. I also had a couple of cocktails and other snacks. Blue skies today, no clouds, no wind. It was 1c when I got up, but is 3c right now. By the time I finish my coffee and do a few Fitness Marshall songs it will be a bit warmer. HUGE list today for my only day off, even though I would rather just read a book and do nothing. Very busy week ahead for the next 6 days, I had better do laundry first and then get going on the rest. I can workout before it is ready to hang/put into the dryer.
Day 79β04/23β 147.4 - Great deal of activity yesterday. I have gotten used to a gain after the first day of a very long stint getting the garden going (or putting it to bed in the fall). So much squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, bending, digging. Big salad last night which for some reason also always causes me to gain. I'm sure that it will even out in the coming days. I got 3 rows of 9 done in the potato garden, shovelful by shovelful. Planted. No time again until next Tuesday. I am going to try to take off next Wednesday as well because it took a full day to get 3 rows done. I went for a small walk at another trail in the evening (Isadore Canyon) and the crocuses are up!
Day 80β04/24β 146.6 - Ran home from one job, ate my yoghurt and granola, swiped on some lipstick and headed to the next job. Full packed day tomorrow, doctor (for a knee referral) in the morning before work, appointment after work, and then a play at our small theatre. Split shifts Saturday Sunday, Monday my day job and then a job in the dining room of the Retirement home. I am going to take an extra day off of 2 jobs next week, because the potato bed is not going to turn over its own soil and get planted.
Day 81β04/25β 145.6 - Very happy to see that number this morning. Of course I still have 20-30+ more to get to some semblance of a healthy body weight. I have learned to live with the uptick of long days in the garden spring and fall. Many times I burn more than I eat with these marathons, and inevitably gain 1-3 pounds in one day. Body feeling like it needs to hold on to fat? 3 full days later and I see a big drop in weight, my body is slow that way. An indulgent eating day might not show on the scale for 3 days. As for nuts, I have a 1/8th measurer right on top of the cans of nuts, put that measure into a bowl and put the can(s) back in the cupboard. Lately I have been having 1/8c of Wasabi almonds and 1/8c unsalted cashews. I have migrated away from smartfood popcorn this week (too tough to get out of my teeth) to pocorners (7-9 of those). My calories in has got probably 1/3 snacks each day. As mentioned, I am not an eater of big meals, I prefer snacks.
