My name is Donna. I am 64 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018).

    🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM Mar 31st): 195.8

CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 12 pounds to land at 183.8

    CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: xxxxx

TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: xxxxx

    🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜ULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (I’ll know when I get there!)

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

    CURRENT WEEK:

    04/01 -- DNW 💠 (Trend Weight – DNW)

    04/07 – 195.4 ✅ (Trend Weight – 194.9)

    04/14 – DNW 💠 (Trend Weight -- DNW)

04/21 – 195.0 ✅ (Trend Weight – 196.5) Easter was very simple this year due to the ice storm issues at each family members houses. Of course, we made sure that all the grandkiddos got their gifts from the Easter Bunny. Dinner was simple but, as you might expect, salty. I plan on drinking lots of water today. Weight is down today on the scale. I’m very pleased as I was extra thoughtful of my partaking yesterday and it looks like it paid off. However, we all know it sometimes shows up a day or two later so I’ll be keeping a watchful eye. Tomorrow is family dr appointments for son and I. We will go out to lunch afterward as is his habit. They will be checking our glucose numbers. It won’t be pretty. I expect a scolding.

☔️☔️04/28 – 192.6 ✅ (Trend Weight – 194.9) I’ve had the best week than I’ve had in a very long time. But I do choose to weigh also on the first and last day of every month for a full month loss. Unfortunately, I will be traveling out-of-town tomorrow for a major medical appointment and dinner will be out. This will affect my April 30th final weight for the month for sure. However, I am confident that I will still show a loss for April and that the travel weight will be temporary. I am wearing my first pair of spring Capris pants today and they fit (thankful for elastic waist on this pair!) but they are tight. I checked my stats for this time last year and I weighed in the 185 range so that explains it. I’ve got work to do. This week’s results are a very nice start!

Hello I'm Darlene, retired, 64-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I started my journey in January 2023, and over the last two year have lost 90 pounds. I got to my goal weight in the last quarter of 2024, and now tackling the maintenance phase. There aren't too many maintenance threads on MFP, so hopped on this thread in January. I'm working on a buffer to make it so I never hit overweight again, but will be happy just to stay in the ideal BMI range the rest of my life. I weigh/check in on Wednesday and the end of the month.

    My Weekly Goals

    • 🥅 Stay under Ideal Weight (140)
    • 🎯 Work on buffer - (137) whenever I get there is fine.
    • 👣 115K Steps Weekly
    • 🥗 Under Weekly TDEE
    • 🚶‍♀️50 Miles walking
    • 🫀 3 Cardio (non-walk) weekly
    • 🏋️‍♀️ 3 Strength Weekly
    • 🥊3 Virtual Reality Type Boxing
    • 🧘‍♀️1 Stretch type weekly
    • ⌚ 800 Min of Intentional Exercise Weekly

A tough week for me on the food front, three days over budget this week. Still under my goal weight, but it's getting close. Time for me to rein it in. I continue to work on my soft 75 challenge - I am on day 30 and no pass days used yet.

Reflection Time - Forgot to Post

I have been writing a monthly reflection on my weight loss journey for a while now. It is a wonderful way for me to look back at how far I have come, see where I need to improve, and be proud of what I have accomplished. During the weight loss part of my journey, I took an after picture every month. Looking in the mirror every day, I didn’t notice any change; those around me also didn’t see the change because they saw me every day.

I do wish I could add my picture to the spoiler - but here is my new Before and After for April 2025:

    image.png

Here is my reflection for April if you want to read.

April was an up and down month- a pound or a little more in each direction. I ended the month higher than last month, but still under the ideal weight range (just barely).

On April 1, I started two mini challenges. The first was to walk the entirety of the Hop River Trail. My original plan was to do the Airline Trail every year - but decided it would be fun to try something new. It took us twelve days to complete, a little at a time, averaging a little over 3 ½ miles a day. The official end mile marker says 20.4 miles (that would mean 40.8 for us). The Hop River State Park Trail documentation says that it is 24.8 miles. I'm guessing somewhere in between - we logged 42.93 miles in total.

This was a fantastic experience. The trail doesn't compare to the Airline Trail in my opinion, but it was a very nice trail to conquer. I am already looking forward to planning our summer adventure!

I also started a soft 75 challenge. I love the idea of the Hard-75 challenge but have two problems with it. I am not perfect - persistence, not perfection is what works for me. It wasn’t until I realized this that I didn’t give up on my journey when I hit a bump in the road. I also didn’t like the everyday picture part of the challenge, for two reasons. I think it is kind of like looking in the mirror every day - you won’t see any difference; also, it places such an importance on “body image” instead of the whole experience of it all. With that in mind I made my own. Here are my challenge rules:

    🌲45 Min Outside Workout

100 Min of Intentional Exercise Daily with one Active Recovery Day per Week

    💦 64 Ounces of Water

✍️ Track Everything: (I am at my goal weight, so stay under Weekly calorie goal - some days over, some days under)

    📖 Read 10 Pages

📷 Progress Picture: at beginning and end, a picture of my adventures everyday

🍸 Drink only on social occasions and no more than once a week and two drinks

🆗 Three pass days: - don't need to start over - just get back to it the next day and add days to the end. If I miss more than three days - start over!

I am on day 30, and with no pass days yet!

On the diet front, it was a tougher month. Although I managed to stay under my TDEE for the month, I did go over my range nine of the 30 days in April, almost 1/3 of the month. This caused the crazy weight fluctuations all month long. I ended the month just below my goal weight, and up from last month. This is something I need to work on for May, I don’t want it to get away from me.

Much better on the exercise – I logged 245 miles in April and have reached the 1,000-mile marker on my quest for 2,025 in 2025. I met all my intentional exercise goals for the month.

I found a love for boxing/combat. As I mentioned before, Greg gave me a virtual reality headset for Christmas – I signed up for a FitXR subscription and use it almost every day! I love that they give you a daily quest to complete (yes, I must get my homework done). I am quite obsessed with it! I can get lost for an hour and not even realize I am exercising. Burns a lot more calories than the app tells me (according to my Garmin); it is quite an aerobic exercise.

I re-read Younger Next Year, a fabulous book. Just started Sink Reflections by the Fly Lady (trying to get my house in order in 2025). On the fiction side, I am re-reading Goblet of Fire with my Hogwarts challenge and The Way of Kings. I am enjoying all of them.

I had a doctor’s appointment in April, cholesterol numbers are down – still a little too high, but doctor is not concerned. She also said I am at my ideal weight for my age and didn’t want to see me lose anymore. She said being on the higher side of “ideal” weight at my age is better than on the lower side.

    My Goals for May:

🥗 Get better with the nutrition side of things – get back to a pound or two under goal.

    ⏱️Eight Hour Eating Window

🚶‍➡️Average120,000 Steps per Week; 480,000 steps for the month. I made this my unbreakable vow for the Hogwarts Challenge!

    🫀 🏋️‍♀️🚲 🥊 🚣 Average 100 intentional fitness per

🌳One 45 minute outside workout daily – regardless of the weather

    My Stats:
