I was just going to try to include Annie's quote. I couldn't do it with the method I wanted. So I will try and just type it out best I can…Water lilies grow from mud, so they are used as a symbol of finding beauty in the messes of our lives.
I think that is why I like to garden, visit gardens, give flowers, and post flower pictures. I find doing so helps me deal with the difficult pieces of my life!
Thank you for the quote Annie!
Tomorrow they come to remove the tree debris. Because of clean up pruning the power line will be dropped so I will not have power most of the day. I might be able to do a quick hello in the morning before it starts. I will be glad once it is done!

Good Day, All.
Welcome to the new gals!
Sending healing vibes to those struggling at the moment.
My walk yesterday was painfully slow. it was an urban walk and about 20 people. It was likely so large because it was easy. Unfortunately, he stopped at the half way point, which was only 1.5 miles. Then we literally walked another 50 feet and stopped again to admire some old history tiles. It was way too slow for anything remotely like exercise, so three of us who are regulars, went off on our own to finish it. The views were lovely and it was a nice day, but just too slow.
Rori-Our walk was much more of what I’d expected yesterday to be, but it did not turn out like that. I don’t think I broke a sweat.
My coffee was boring yesterday. Most of the coffee shops were overrun with tourists, so I went to one off the beaten path and they didn’t have exciting things and there were zero pastries. I had to get one later. That will be today’s breakfast treat.
Annie-You can freeze your father’s credit without it affecting the credit card he already has and I highly suggest you do it. That will certainly help to prevent any purchases he may try to make using his credit. Be sure to do it with each bureau individually. Also, find out the limit on his credit card and see if you can ask to lower it to something reasonable. My friend had to take her mother’s checkbook away when she nearly wrote a $20,000 check to a scammer, so watch for those too.
And great job on the stairs and biking!
Michele-I don’t prefer the terms “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” either, at this age anyway. I’m ok with it for the younger people. I don’t like “husband” or “wife” either. I actually feel more strongly about that. My friend calls his betrothed, his “forever person.” I use “significant other” or “my mister.” Well, I’ll pretty much use any thing other than “boyfriend” or “husband.”
Lanette-I am with you on the “stuff.” I appreciate the thought, but I just don’t want or need it. Thankfully, I am at a point that people don’t think of getting me stuff and I live away from family, and it’s too expensive to ship anything.
Lisa-Levi sure is a cutie. So is your daughter.
As of yesterday’s weigh in, I’m .6 pounds away from my pre-trip goal (which begins next week). I’m hoping I’ll drop that last bit on my trip, since I’ll likely be walking a lot.
And in fun news, I won the Savannah Banana’s lottery. That means that I have the opportunity to possibly, maybe, have a chance, to potentially buy tickets to a game. Sadly, if I do get that possible chance, I’ll be across the pond the day the sale happens, probably jet lagged, so likely won’t get them.
Off to the noise festival today. We depart the house early afternoon and likely won’t get home till midnight-ish. I won’t enjoy the music, but I will probably enjoy the people watching very much. My walking will come in the form of to and from the bus stops and in between the restaurant and the stadium. I just need to limit my booze consumption.
Have a great day!

Barbie … thank you for moving us into July!
Kim … Your question about losing one of our senses. In the case of my hearing loss, it was gradual over years, to reach the point of total deafness. So while it was difficult, it wasn't shocking, like your loss of peripheral vision. I had time to adjust, get used to hearing less and less, and made as many accommodations to my loss as possible … some purposefully … some without even realizing I was doing so. However, hearing loss did limit my life in ways I am now only recognizing as I've regained hearing. Now I have to adapt to how "noisy" the world is! Losing my sense of taste immediately after the implant surgery is probably closest to what you are currently experiencing. In order to get to the mastoid, a nerve related to facial muscles and the tongue was separated. The right side of my tongue lost the ability to taste and when food touched it I equated the sensation to having what I think whale blubber slapped against it would feel like. Gagging to say the least. That nerve damage slowly (took over a year) but surely receded and today I just have a hypersensitivity to salty food … which I can adapt to. I am praying that your vision will return to normal and in the meantime you will find ways to adapt. I have no doubt that you will adapt and you will make the best of your circumstances because that is who you are. Strong and capable beyond imagination! This newest wrinkle in your life will not best you!
Carla … I will be praying for your friend tomorrow. So young!
Debbie … my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband on the loss of his mother.
Allie … you looked fabulous in the photo with your two friends!
Pip … the things you are doing to remember Yogi are wonderful. I hope the very good memories help soothe your loss.
I've been so far behind that I did a lot of skimming the last few days. Welcome to the new ladies. I'll check in again later!

Annie, your dedication to riding the bike is commendable! Great job! I eat about 40-50 grams of sugar a day still, but it's less than what I was eating before May. My joints are less achy yes. My complexion less blotchy or acne prone. Its interesting to not have food noise to want me to eat sugary things. I compare it to driving a car, but I can't read the dash, know if I need gas or oil, so I just stop now and then at a gas station to put $5 worth in. That's kind of how I eat. Gone on any sort of big meals, and that's ok.

Rori, you're such a wonderful mermaid! That's great you found a stereo system that works for you while you swim! I miss swimming at the pools at our old resort. On really hot days (112 or higher), we just went from the kids pool, to the hotels pool, to the main resort pool. When the sun went down we would go to the conversation pool (a long hot tub like thing with ledges on both sides to sit, and it curved around the circular traditional hot tub). All the while drinking lots of water, (some drinky-poos) and getting loads of exercise. Sometimes playing tennis, or walking around the lake, all with flip flops, boatloads of sunscreen and earrings. Days were water, life was water!

Annie: Great job on the bike riding.
Lisa: 🥰 the Afghan.
We did our usual early grocery shop for the week this morning, which means that I have lots of lovely fresh options to eat. I had popped up a couple of lbs lately, so am redressing the issue by being more diligent in my portion sizes and choices. It is what it is!

AH! makes sense!! LMAO! 👽️
Lanette, You could always fly down here to Roswell then I could drive you back home! 😁
Yesterday didn't feel very well so didn't talk much. Better today. Monday, we went to Portifino's for lunch. Big dinner to call it a lunch! But soooo good. Probably why I wasn't myself yesterday. I had something called Chickey Califoniocan (SP?) it was a chicken breast coated with a white wine sauce with capers and who knows what. Zuccinni and peppers & onions on the side. Homemade bread with dipping oil for starter. The meal came with a "small" salad, which wasn't that small. Italian dressing on the side. I was bad and ate most all of it!
Today, we need to go town for our monthly shop. Raining again here. Very unusual but not super hot at high 70's low 80's which is worth the rain to me! Better than over 100!
Thought for Today:
I got a new pen that can write under water.
It can write other words too!

Tracey, oh that Michaela. “Rude to our kind” Gotta love her… and the women who are raising her ;} “Richard relocator” took me a few too, but then I snorted tea all over the place. Then I saw the healthy salad meme and made another mess!
Annie it must be so frustrating, trying to persuade your Dad he really needs to wear pants. Hope you can laugh about it later. ((hugs)) Why not freeze his credit card, you don’t want him using it? Well begun on the stair step challenge and con VERY grats for the 21 days!
Lisa love the Levi pic, but is that a black eye on your DD? Really love the cleared out view. You must be so proud. Well worth the budget hit, imho.
Welcome @mwecker6014 Marty in Portland from the southern end of the state ! The key tip for me was a food scale and weighing every bite, lick or sip. A real eye-opener. We can do this!
Veronica 82 would be plenty hot for me. At dog group Saturday we were all complaining about how hot it was in the sun, but my car thermometer only registered 72 :}
Carla, prayer said for Sherrie, her kidsand you. ((hugs))
Heather what a very lot on your DSIL’s plate. Holding good thoughts for your brother’s surgery. Grateful the lack of invitation wasn’t about you. ((hugs))
Machka con VERY gratulations on your progress this half year. Well done. And thanks for the Action for Happiness calendar, I’d gotten out of the habit.
Allie safe travels and enjoy. You deserve to have some fun!
Barbie so thankful for your daughters’ visit.
Lanette, Joe brings me hanging baskets on some holidays and they survive about as long as yours. The one from Mothers Day is still blooming. Good luck at the DDS.
Margaret, believe they’re all annuals, but if I stuck them in the flowerbed, might they self seed? I’d like to do it while they’re still pretty… BTW yours to Debbie. Well said. Was the cinnabar jewelry expensive? Could you ask her to sell it and use the proceeds for a future lunch or??? Know it’s a big risk of insult…
Tina I hear you about too slow walks. Our line dance class has devolved into less dancing and more chatting in our main teacher’s absence, so I dragged my butt to the open dance last night. Only lasted an hour and had to sit out two dances, those gals are peppy and take no breaks!
Beth yours to Kim. Thank you.

Oh Heather... dangit, I'm sorry.
Thanks Michele! I need those! <3 Blessings on your Swiss friend. So hard.
Thanks everyone…M&Ms salad! That's what I've been waiting for Tracey! YAY! Don't stop. Don't ever stop. They'll may have to erase your memory.
I loved that quote, Margaret! I love water lilies too. Lilies are just about my favorite flowers, but water lilies are my favorite lily because they remind me of Mom's house. Her lake was spring fed so there were loads of lily pads and water lilies. The turtles would peak their heads out in between the pads. Geez, it was so cute!
Love and Blessings

Well the rower went on sale just a bit so I broke down and bought it! Yay! It will be here tomorrow night. So exciting! It's a Merach magnetic Q1SW.
I did my dumbbells today! Yay! I skipped two out of thirty-five exercises. I can't do downward dog or lunges with my broken foot. But mostly I did twenty reps with three pounds. I broke a sweat so I bought hair ties and sweat towels and headbands and sweatpants! Like a real athlete! Amazon loves me today!
The only trick is how to shower while keeping an eye on my Dad. I have a baby monitor, but I need to be able to react quickly when I hear him get into something or go outside. I'm thinking I can quick rinse off at the sink and change my shirt and maybe that will be enough.

Hi there!
I had a good meeting and picked up some food on the way home. The morning was cool and damp, but it got hotter later.
Nothing on the TV at the moment because of Wimbledon and the women's World Cup. Neither of which I have any interest in. Only thing I want to watch tonight is Born Without Trace, about tracing foundling parents through DNA.
I think sport should be on a separate channel, not edging out all my favourite programmes. Grrrr!

Another little garage sale painting project done. Did this while we were camping. It was all the lighter Gree color, I just jazzed it up a bit. Going to put an electric tea light inside and hang it up somewhere. Came out cute. Put some of yogi’s paw prints on it.

This pic of yogi (he picked this pic because he is staring right at him) that will go by his bed. I jazzed up the frame a bit. Came out cute.

Nice pieces, Pip! You're doing a lot of crafting these days!
Terri - Thank you! Always glad to get them done, and can't judge them for days, if not weeks after with any kind of objectivity.
Annie - Well done on getting what you need to exercise!
Barbara - No, not a black eye, just a gray hat with a black liner casting a deep shadow.
Heather - Your choice of show reminds me that our daughter is, at present, hosting her biological father. They've spoken on the phone more than once, but first face-to-face was when she met his plane there in Hawaii. He's staying a week all told. In her house. THAT would be the hard part for me!
Kelsey wasn't able to say a lot with Levi in the truck and listening, so I'll be interested to hear her actual assessment the next time we have a private conversation. She did say he reminds her of Corey. Which makes a certain amount of sense. He would have been at a logging camp in Alaska at the same time Corey was working in the mines up there. Same cultural background, basically, during the same formative adult years.
She's going through paroxysms of guilt because she doesn't want this to hurt Corey—he's the only dad she's ever known, and she adores him. He's reassured her that it's fine, of course, but she's still feeling guilty. Love that girl.
No discernible reaction good or bad to the injection, but it's been a nice quiet day. Took me five tries to get the patchwork-type squares I wanted, but as usual, I went for the simple design, highly saturated color. Pictures later…
Oh! And good news, my orthopod was able to convince them to go local with my physical therapy for my shoulder, so I'll be seeing a doc next Friday, then schedule repeating visits with a therapist after, all in a place just seven minutes from my house. Very do-able, that.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Just before i set off for my meeting this afternoon, John left for the cricket. He had just got there and sat down when he realised he hadn't turned off the saucepan full of apricots he was cooking. I was on the bus already and didn't hear the phone. So he grabbed a taxi home to find the apricots well cooked, but perfectly edible! We had some this evening. 😁
On Sunday he forgot to put the rubbish out in the street. When he heard the bin lorry coming on Monday, he had to rush out in his dressing gown with a face full of shaving foam!
I'm hoping that this isn't the beginning of a trend, but just absent mindedness. I have been known to leave the gas ring on. Thoroughly charred some leeks not so long ago.
I find, with retirement, it's sometimes confusing as to which day it is, especially if something is done on a different day from usual. Sometimes, even if I know what day it is, it feels like a different day of the week. For example, Bea pick up is Tuesday, so, if it is changed to Thursday, it throws us out.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather,
The fact that you notice some of Johns forgetfulness proves that you still got it all together💖👍🏼. We are creatures of habit, and any different thing can bring about a forgetful task. Lee has what he calls "his brain" a daily planner, in front of his computer. I have a calendar and he's got a calendar downstairs here. Every night before he takes his nighttime dose of meds, he crosses off the day. That's the only way we know what day it is really! Other than the garbage going out on Wednesday, the shopping and my injection on Thursday, and Sunday is biscuits & gravy breakfast for husband, we'd be lost!
Hugs!

I am sitting, writing letters to my pen pals, in pants that are a 1X (size 18) so I'm happy about that. I have pants that are 3X that are in the donate bin. I need more of these 1X's and will donate the 2X's in a bit. I have finally lost a lb so thinking my stall is over. I had been 232.4 since 6-16. Then for a day I had gone up to 233.4. Now I am at 231.4. So 17.2 lbs gone. So, glad about that. Slow and steady! Still averaging 1100-1200 calories a day. Tracking my protein and my liquid intake. Most days are 80-90 oz a day.

Hello Friends and Happy July! Happy Canada Day too!:)
Thank you, Barbie, for bringing us into July. I skimmed the post to catch up. That four-day stretch knocked me out. When I got off Monday, I picked up some groceries and went home. Talk about showers. There have been no showers for the past two days. I took one this morning for my doctor's appointment. I have been playing Scrabble and reading. I finally worked out, and it felt great. That new orthotic did the job. We got a new baby from the NICU, and I love her. I bathed her and played lullabies to help her sleep. We sang songs beforehand, and I sang the ones I learned with my kids in Suzuki, and she loved it. I was in tears to think that this beautiful baby girl didn't get any calls from her mom asking how she is doing. I had her for four days. Then my baby boy got a bath, and he was holding my finger, and as I was talking, I felt pain. He bit me, trying out his new teeth. He gave me a big smile. He thinks I am so funny. The baby girl didn't even pay attention to anyone talking to her; she was following me, and then she smiled. Then I had a 9-year-old who had a twin that I took care of, while everyone took care of her. I ensured she was clean and had good oral hygiene. Those three babies wore me out. I had a Michelin man looking baby, too, but he went home on Sunday. He wanted to sleep and not get disturbed. When I did disturb him, he looked over at his mom, crying, and it sounded like he said, "MOOOOM!"
DH had an interview yesterday, and we will find out on Thursday. He is coming into town on Monday. He has a colonoscopy scheduled.
Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss and your husband's loss. Now he will be unpacking a lot of emotions. I apologize if I offended you when I asked about the nationality of your MIL. I was trying to understand why she was angry or why DH was so snappy. My friend Linette is Japanese, and her brother has been so snappy at everyone while her mom was dying, and finally she announced that the entire family was going to therapy. Prayers are with you and your family as you grieve.
Allie, you look great! You are so pretty. It is hard to believe you have undergone major surgery. Happy Belated Birthday, Allie.
Lisa, your property looks great—happy Anniversary to you and Corey. I love the picture that you showed of the two of you. I love Levi, and your daughter is adorable and very pretty.
Barbie, I have to plan things out before I commit to a wedding and so forth. I can relate.
Tracey, it sounds like you and Michaela had a great time together.
Pip, Yogi looks so good in his frames. He was a handsome dog.
Going for a walk and then zip-lining back sounds like fun.
Rebecca, you're doing great with your planning and writing down what you eat. I can do it at home, but it breaks down when I am working.
Matchka, great job in your swimming. I must confess that I read Drama King by Penny Reid and laughed as well, but I had the wrong book. I will try yours soon.
Carla, prayers for your friend, and your mom's home sounds beautiful.
Michelle, the book reminds us or illustrates how Alzheimer's can affect everyone's life.
Welcome to the New people, this group is special.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Had to watch this video at BK after work. The store mgr knew it had nothing to do with my job, but she wanted to cover herself and have everyone watch it. Oh….I’m not saying anything to anyone because you never know what the future will bring. But another manager(hourly, but the mother of the asst. mgr.) told me that she’s going to be stepping down and go to nursing school and the asst. mgr will become the store mgr. But like I said, you never know what will happen. But yet, the store manager for a while was sort-of “on edge”. Now lately she seems to be relaxed. The (now) asst mgr seems more relaxed, too. But who knows if this has anything to do with it?
Annie – great way to look at a water lily (reminds of the beauty even in mud). Yea for riding that bike
Rori – good job getting the music in the pool
Tracey – good way to have a colorful salad...lol Thanks for the smile
barbie – I, too, have a box in my closet for items to be donated. So many “trinkets” go in there. And you know my philosophy on gardening...”if God means for it to live, it’ll live”
Lisa – beautiful quilt. I like all the different colors
Went to Spectrum and transferred our phones and tablets. Unfortunately, our tablets weren’t compatible with Spectrum so we had to purchase new ones. Came home, had dinner, then went for a walk around the block
Tina – congrats on the win, even if you won’t be able to use it
Annie – you are on a roll. Exercise also helps greatly to relieve stress, and you are under a lot of stress
pip – love the pic and frame for Yogi.
Flea – doing a real happy dance for you
