Terri lovely images in your poem. Very evocative.
Barbie, sometimes I think I’d like to live in a small apartment with lots of services too, then I remember that would mean living with lots of nearby neighbors too…
Heather absolutely Joan Hickson was the best Miss Marple. You are really tempting me to subscribe to BritBox. You are an inspiring Grandma to suffer in the rain to watch Bea’s performance. She won’t forget.
Lanette like your take on added sugar vs naturally occurring sugar. Might have trouble getting that big Class C camper up our drive, we might have to meet up at Harris Beach State Park. ;)
Tina safe travels!
Rebecca congratulations for sticking with logging continuously since May 15. Solid new habit!
Pip hanging that “everything’s better with dog kisses” under the pic of Yogi kissing Kirby, brilliant. ((hugs))
After Monday’s (last) Classic Fit class, Tuesday’s (first chair) Yoga, Wednesday’s 2.7 mile hike with T, was sore from my earlobes to my ankles Wednesday night. Woke up Thursday feeling GREAT. No soreness at all! Chair Yoga again Thurs. Friday skipped BB&B/shoulder exercises at weigh-in to get to Freddie’s early, oops. Back on track this morning. An acquaintance from the fire hall was at dog group with his new puppy, the cutest schnoodle ever. Not much pack walk, will have to Jeopardy walk this evening to make step goal.
Action for happiness
1-check out chair yoga
2-can’t eliminate sugar yet, but can reduce by substituting smokehouse almonds for the dark chocolate covered ones I ate yesterday ;}
3-ask for help: let T drive to lunch
4-looking forward to Highland Games in August with goddaughter
5-basics, substituted iced tea for Coca Cola. Did 10 mins BB&B/PT, will go to bed on time.Mooch just reminded me its past Tummy Time.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

July focus: Just one thing from the OMG room. Really.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth

I kind of had a little pity party for one yesterday. It didn't last long, but it sucks to be parents of sailors in that we do not get to have them in our lives, live nearby etc. That's my sacrifice. Now, don't get me wrong, I gladly and wholeheartedly do. Its just on holidays, it brings it to the forefront of my thoughts.
I did getto talk with eldest the other day, which was great! No peep from youngest and I am envisioning him just whizzing all over San Diego on his ebike.😂Then I had a middle son, who chooses to drive to Utah, so wife can have some vacation time with her childhood pal (who had a baby she hadn't met yet). So my brain goes there. And I know apples to oranges. Its their own vacation time, I have no right to dictate their lives. But I was 1 and a half hours from them when I was at my sisters, and they couldn't make it? But then they can drive to Utah? I need to come to terms with my feelings getting slighted by this. I need to just let it go. Its their life, and I get it. She isn't comfortable with us, for some reason. She chooses not to engage in conversation when I am there. She never says hi to us, when we're video chatting. Athena is picking up this trait too. That fact saddens me. But I have traveled so many times to see them, I would like them to put the effort in seeing us. Is that asking too much? Ok see, now I am just venting...😁💟

Barbara - I don't know if it's going to be on Britbox, but they are reshowing it on BBC Four. About time! We watched the first episode of three when we got back from my son's at 11 pm. Needed something to unwind with. It was fabulous. I was very tempted to watch the second episode, but John was too tired. I had been asleep on their sofa, so was wide awake. 1984 they started. My eldest would have been 8 years old, and adored Joan Hickson. They finished in 1992, so he grew up with them. When I mentioned it to my younger son as he was driving us home, he started humming the theme music! The whole production is pitch perfect, and captures just the right Agatha Christie tone..
Quiet day tomorrow. Phew!

I do love writing poetry.
Pip: What a lovely way to remember Yogi. My DYD has her pets ashes on a shelf in her living room.
I was stunned with the TV coverage of the Texas floods, and the number of children still missing. They must have been si frightened, poor things.🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

😀 I don't seriously want to move to a small apartment with a lot of services. That's just one variation on my crazy response when it seems like life and emotions are too much for me. My other crazy response was when Jake was alive and everything with him and the dogs was too much, I'd be driving to the library alone and I'd think, "maybe I'll just keep driving and never come back". I'm not the only one who's had moments when it just all seems to be too much. I love my house, my dogs, my yard, my routine, my neighbourhood, my friends. Life is good.🎵
😀 Pip, what a great tribute to Yogi and the other dogs.
😀 Tina, have a great trip.

After work went to the Farmer’s Market and picked up some corn. This guy’s corn is REALLY good. Anyway, brought it home, husked it(all 5 dozen) and cooked it and then put most of it in the freezer
Tracey and Rita – when we got Bonnie, she’d been spayed at the Humane Society. After a while she started to make these howling noises and acting like she was in heat. Clyde would hump her (he’s been neutered). We couldn’t figure out what the story was so we called the vet. He said that it’s not unusual, but it doesn’t happen very often. Sometimes when they spay, they don’t get everything and we were to bring her back when it seemed like she was at the peak of her “heat”. Sure enough, a piece of tissue the size of the tip of a pencil eraser was there, just enough to produce enough estrogen. My point is that she was spayed (the first time)before she had a heat.
Barbara – his corn comes right out of the field. It still has the dew on it. And it’s so good, wish that darn transporter worked so I could bring you some.
The plan for tomorrow is to do a Jillian Michaels Killer Body DVD then a Pilates Power Sculpting DVD. Planning to walk to Food Lion for kiwi that’s on sale. Then I want to go to Aldi to see if they have any more of those Hammi Gold Cantaloupes. I sure hope so. If anyone has a chance to buy it, get it. It is SOOOO sweet.
Pip – agree with Rebecca
Ladies – Jess gave us a cruise to Nassau/Bahamas. What did I ever do to deserve this? One grandchild that I’ll never see, one that if I’m lucky I’ll get to see one day this year, and this! Honestly, when she first told us that she would get it by listening to a presentation for a time share, I was skeptical. I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise – anywhere – and I was so very afraid to get excited, thinking that there might be something like “you get it when you sign up for a time share” and I knew she didn’t want one. But we just registered for it. We have to take it in the next year and a half. One place they ship out of is Port Canaveral which makes sense for us since we can go to the condo. I am busy crying about this.
Started another jigsaw puzzle. The border on the last one was hard and the border shouldn’t have been that hard. It looks like the puzzle was never opened. Got it at the Salvation Army.
Oh, stopped there after the farmer’s market this morning. Boy, have their prices gone up. I used to get a DVD for 99 cents, now it’s $1.99. Puzzles used to be $1.99, now they’re $3.99. <sigh>
Guess I need to get to bed.

Terri - beautiful poem.
Annie - it was probably West Edmonton Mall. It’s about 1/2 an hour from me. I haven’t been there in years.
Our eldest daughter was married on the boat that’s there.
The airport is about 5 minutes from me.Barbie - We haven’t made the move to get rid of cable yet. One reason is because of live events that we both enjoy that we record and watch at our leisure.I have imagined you tucked into a mountain with tall towering trees.
My youngest and her husband swear they will be building a granny cottage on their property at some point to care for us in our later years. The last time we discussed this they thought just moving our trailer would be good.
My only concern with this is the hallway is narrow in the event of an emergency.Lisa - I’ve watched the news reports on Texas. So tragic.
Egg is funny when her routine is disrupted. Not funny to you in the middle of the night I’m sure.I absolutely love fireworks and am disappointed I didn’t get to see any on Canada Day. I chose to go to bed at a decent time but they kept me awake so I should have just gone.
Rita - a Class A camper sounds like a great way to travel.
Barbie - I agree with you about following your own personal ideas on what “sparks joy”, my daughter did the Marie Kondo method a few years ago, it wore her out quite quickly.
Heather - A long day, I would need to unwind before going to bed too.
Love the photo of you and Edie.
That looks like a miserable way to spend a day, but Bea will remember that you went out in the rain to watch her.Lanette - I think your neighbour is very smart not to move. I feel the longer we can live on our own the better we’ll be because it keeps us active. If his mind and body are strong he shouldn’t have to move.
The dietitian and doctor that Rodger has for diabetes states that sugar from natural fruit doesn’t count as sugars.
Our Walmart sells dumbbells that are a good size to hold and goes in different sizes. I had two but can’t find one.
Pip - I love how you have honoured Yogi so completely.
Rebecca - you have been inspiring.
I don’t think you are asking too much at all and I feel your son she be standing up for his side of the family too. I think it’s natural for you to have teary days it’s a lot to miss seeing your family.Barbie - there have been several points in my life when I’ve felt like just continuing to drive. I guess in the end it wouldn’t solve anything but the fantasy to run away has been strong in my life.
Michele - I hope you have a wonderful cruise.I have never believe any of those “listen to a presentation” thing either.
I had a busy but fulfilling day.
I went in to visit a young lady in my life who had her twins in December. They are six months old.
I’ve told her that her and daddy need a break and I’m up for a babysitting evening. I can’t wait!I came home, then took Jonah home, when I was there I was asked if I could watch him and Michaela Tuesday evening for a little bit because it’s Lauryn and Ryan’s 14th anniversary! They are going out for supper.I stopped and bought a Caesar salad and chicken tenders for supper.
After supper I was out watering my plants and thought about texting my neighbour to see if she wanted to go for a walk, I came in the house and got distracted cleaning the kitchen. As I was doing that she texted me to ask if I wanted to go with her and her son. We only walked a bit but it was more than I have been doing.
Today is my 4th day with no Coke or chips.
Well I should put my phone down. I’m trying to cut back on my phone usage but I’m struggling with that.

Walk: 7.23 km (11,781 steps) … that was over 2 walks and a bunch of extra steps.

Hey all! So nice to read and hear all of your voices! I can't go back to when I last visited and catch up, because it was months ago and I am afraid that I would just never catch up that way. I think it was last fall that I started to pull back and not visit our group as often. I think the only reason for that was I just had so much going on. Not any more than any of you, but just more than my own brain could deal with; so I withdrew. Since that happened, my youngest son made the move to Idaho and he is currently doing well. My daughter's house sold; so in two weeks I will have her family here, in my home, for probably about three months. My daughter, Lauren, got the approval to work remotely. She is keeping full salary/benefits and will have to report to the Fort Worth office once a month (for just a day or two). Her husband is in Michigan this week for a week long training with the MSPD. (Michigan State Police Dept). He also needs to complete the Michigan Police Academy and THEN he will get a certificate of employment and they will be able to get pre-approved for a mortgage and buy a home. In the meantime, the two older boys (Joaquin is 8 and Miguel is almost 6) are registered at the school that is just down the road from us. Javier (who is no longer Baby Javi at age 3 1/2) will be joining my childcare kids. I find I am entering this time with some anxiety; but trying to breathe through it and trying to get my husband to calm down about everything. I swear, he is driving me crazier than everything else.
Anyway, I have pretty much tossed my daily drink habit. I will occasionally have a drink, but it is only when we have dinner out and it is not bought on a weekly basis. I noticed that when I kicked that habit to the wall, my chip habit followed. I have also gotten back on track with my daily walks. All that said, I am down to 254. I am happy with that. When I went to Texas to visit my daughter in March, my weight was at an all time high of 270. So…progress is slow; but it is still progress. Onward and downward.
Pip - So sorry to hear of Yogi's passing! He was a good boy and I know he brought you and Kirby much joy. Your tribute to him is beautiful and well thought.
Beth - Happy belated birthday!
To all - I am enjoying all of the photos and updates of goings on in your lives. I am happy to see so many of you continuing to enjoy good health and spirits. Sending hugs to all of you who have suffered losses recently. I am also laughing, clapping, and celebrating your moments of joy and successes.
I will try to keep up with the posts, this time. lol ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Tracey - If I learned anything out of the years I've been working with battling my inclinations, it's to only try to modify one of them at a time. For so many years, I quit smoking and then went on a diet, pretty much guaranteeing I'd fail at both. Built-in excuse, maybe? Getting away from the coke and chips is much more important than getting away from the phone. Once that's done, THEN start on your phone habit.
Heather - Edie has always reminded me of Kate Moss when she was young - the picture is of Kate at 14.
Sorry about the miserable weather for a fun event, but England definitely taught me that if you weren't going to do it in the rain, you weren't going to do it… so I learned to golf there. ⛳🏌🏼🤣
It was either learn to golf or never see my (now-ex)husband. My current and final husband doesn't golf. Or watch any sports on TV at all.💧😂🤣 Makes you think, doesn't it! 😂
Michele - Enjoy your cruise! Well done to Jess!
Pip - Everyone grieves in their own way; I'm glad you've found something that seems right for you.
Glad the 4th is over, though the fireworks have continued here. Knew they would. Egg was uneasy, but she did OK. I think they kept her awake, but they didn't keep ME awake, so I slept well.
So I've taken three months off of making videos, and I might just be coming back around to it again, I think. Much less of a learning curve this time for the "how-to" but I've got some idea of the direction I want to go, and a different basic format, as well. A lot of different things are pushing me towards it, but I also want to get a number of videos completed before I start putting them up, so it will be a bit.
For those who were wondering, apparently yes, Britbox is carrying Joan Hickson's Miss Marple at the moment. The website Collider always does a good job of putting together information like this:
Not a lot on for today, Corey's sleeping in again and enjoying his four-day weekend. He'll be taking tomorrow off, as well. I need to go ahead and get some water on my flowers. Hope it's a good Sunday for all…
Love y'all,

😀 Kelly, How wonderful to hear from you. You have enough on your plate to need a platter. Your job alone is a full plate and then you have family with you.
😀 Tracey, We spent a lot of time deciding about getting rid of cable and limiting ourselves to streaming services. The final and biggest hurdle was that Jake liked to watch the Seattle Mariners baseball and any way you could watch all the games was expensive. I had enjoyed watching all the hours of figure skating that was available. When we made the change we found so many things that we liked on the less expensive streaming channels that we were OK. We were able to watch bits of baseball and figure skating on You Tube. It's a difficult decision. Well done on no Coke or chips. Your future self will thank you.
😀 Lisa, I read the list of Brit Box shows. I've watched three of them and have one of them on my waiting list. I watch Acorn and PBS Masterpiece so I have more stuff I want to watch.
😀 Heather, good for you watching Bea's performance in the rain. I live in a place (north and coastal) that is known for rain and cold and odd times in the summer. One year on Independence Day we went to an outdoor concert wearing winter coats and putting blankets on our laps.
😀 MIchele, Wow, a cruise from your daughter. You'll have a blast.
😀 A new challenge awaits me today. The signal light came on when I looked at the furnace last night. It means that I have to vacuum the furnace filters. It's a job Jake always did and I didn't watch because he was in the mud room with the door closed while I stayed in the other rooms with the dogs who were distressed at the sound of the vacuum. The direction book for the furnace is in a pouch in the closet with the furnace so I'll have some instruction. As a last resort, I can call the company that installed it and pay for a service call, but I want to try it on my own first.

Barbie ~ I think I would be just fine moving into an apartment as long as I felt safe there. The house we live in is too large and it and the yard take too much care. I could move into our rental house because it is a lot smaller and there are no steps to climb.
Tracy ~ Those twins are adorable. Congrats on going without cokes and chips for 4 days. I have been over indulging a lot lately and it is slowly showing up on the scale.
Allie ~ Have a safe trip to the South.
Michele ~ What a nice gesture for Jess to give you the cruise she won. I hope you will finally get to see Brian's child.
Rebecca ~ I can see how you feel sad on holidays without your boys. I think that the middle son doesn’t realize that they are hurting you. One good part of it is that it shows that you have raised them to be independent.
Kelly ~ So glad you have popped in and updated us on your life and that of your family. I actually follow you on Facebook and love knowing how interested you are in anything related to science.
Lisa ~ Enjoy your long weekend with Cory.
Tina ~ Have a safe trip to Europe and enjoy!

I am addicted to my tablet, but I figure out my food diary, play relaxing games, text frirnds, video chat family, so its not all bad.
I am amazed too that I have lasted this long. I think the fact that I stick myself with an injection pen weekly helps. I mean when I give myself medicine, then I kind of have to do my part in this. Also people in the zepbound support group spend up to $600 a month for what I am getting free, so I am grateful for that, and don't want to mess it up.
Great job walking with your friend. I have to admit I do not exercise like I probably should. I will put it into play eventually. Actually tomorrow I have to go to the gym with husband, only because after I need to go to the pharmacy to get my next box of injection pens. Its like getting a gold bar, and I am excited. 😂

Did the Upper Body and Core sections of Jillian Michael’s Killer Body DVD. Then walked to Food Lion to get the kiwi that were on sale. I saw that they had the Hammi Gold cantaloupes but that would have been too heavy to carry home. Then went to Aldi and got 3 more Hammi Gold cantaloupes. Food Lion wanted $5.49 for them. Aldi had them for $3.49. I certainly didn’t burn $6 worth of gas going to get them!
Tracey – one time a long time ago Vince and I listened to a presentation about buying a place in the Poconos. What we got out of it was a hotel and I got to see my aunt. That’s it. Funny, later we wound up living in the Poconos. I need to run it by Vince, but I would think May would be a good time to go. We had to go back to the condo last May to check on the bathroom so we’ll probably have to go this time, too. In Feb. we take the cats for the entire month. Last year we just had someone watch them for a few days. I guess we can have her watch them for a week. What adorable twins! Yea for no Coke or chips
KJ – it’s so good to see you. Boy, you sure have been busy
barbie – do you have any TV shows in your library on You Tube TV or do you just watch live TV?
Carol – I would love to see Bryan’s child, but honestly I highly doubt it’ll ever happen. Heck, I don't even get a Christmas card!
Rebecca – love, love, love seeing pics of Athena. I constantly imagine that that’s what PJ is probably going thru. I think Jess has those same plates!
Looks like I need to renew my passport!!!! Yea!!!!
Think I’ll go out by the pool for a bit. Then maybe work some on the puzzle.

I am such an OCD person. This morning figuring out my food for the day. I bought a flat of red grapefruit in small 7 oz containers, so factoring those in. Figured out if I am having both protein pasta, and taco meat for lunch, then I have too many carbs for my day. So I finally put back my grapefruit, to allow for that. Learning the give and take of it all. Tomorrow I will fit the grapefruit containers in my meal plan. Husband wants to go out to dinner somewhere. I want to try out a new place we've never been to, in Anacortes. Its a brew pub with both seafood and steaks. I have looked at the menu and they have fish tacos that sound good. Also a nice shrimp cocktail that sounds yummy. The tacos come with in three warm tortillas, so I will just eat one and put the rest in a takeaway box. The 5 shrimp in the cocktail I will eat though. Not having beer or anything.

😀 Michele, I don't have You Tube TV. I just have the free streaming version that allows me to watch all sorts of stuff for free.
😀😱 Furnace Cleaning. I started it as soon as I got back from the grocery store curbside pick up. I got out the direction books and read what to do. It was no trouble turning the thermostat off since that was the part I did for Jake (he didn't know how to do anything on the thermostat) and a power switch next to the indicator lights on the furnace. Then I got to a direction about disconnecting the power cord from something else. I had to climb up a step on the step stool to find it and when it wasn't an obvious job and didn't pull out easily, I decided that anything that has to do with electricity wasn't a safe place for me to experiment so I vacuumed a bit around the floor, put the vacuum away, and put "call the furnace people" on my list for tomorrow so I can get someone out to clean the filters and teach me how to do it myself. I guess part of my denial about the severity of Jake's many health problems was that I didn't insist on learning how to clean the furnace filters.
😀 When I first started on this thread, there was a woman in London who had lost 200 pounds and among her practices was to walk everywhere she could and to limit herself to 60 minutes a day on her computer. I took both of those practices to heart and they have served me well.
- I just built an ATM that only gives out coins. I don’t know why no one’s thought of it before: it just makes cents!
