Kylia - I’m so happy that you took the long weekend. Most small businesses around here close on holiday weekends.I’m glad you didn’t work and enjoyed your time.
Barbie - you’re quite right I do enjoy cable quite a lot. I enjoy all of the musical talent contests, award shows and concerts especially.
I have worked on getting things from NB to here over the years that belonged I my family and DH’s family. I’m currently not willing to part with very much at all.In 2015 we decluttered our parents house. There were 2.5 rooms full of junk. Some of it mine and my brothers.
We were moving our mom down to the main floor and closing off the upstairs.
We literally put the tractor bucket up to the top floor window, then we took at the downstairs. I cried a lot that week, there was nothing of value to anyone in those rooms of clutter land we didn’t have time to go through everything. I sent 15 boxes to myself in AB and have spent the last 10 years going through things. In 2016 when we moved out here I was ruthless with my own things.I’m hoping that I continue to be conscientious about what I bring into our house.Lisa - I was thinking just yesterday that I really wish I had my Dad’s voice on video. I’m going to see if my brother has it.
I think I do on an old family video, but I don’t have a way of getting it onto anything.
I had seen a thing that someone made with their Cricut where it was a recording of their Dad’s voice on a voicemail. That made a QR code and made a wall hanging so they can just walk by and hear it if they choose.
I think it’s a great idea.
Love the pillows. I like the oversized granny squares in a different orientation especially.I came home and finished season 1 of a show I started a couple months ago and then restarted over the weekend.
Paradise - the star is Sterling K Brown. I love his acting. There will be a season 2.I guess I should head to bed now. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow.

I love that we have a video that a blogger put on Youtube of both my mom and dad talking about gardening and when they first got married. Love that I can watch it and see and hear dad again. I sure miss him.

Lisa - The cushion cover is great. I can see that fitting in to a lot of different decor styles. Are you going to put it in your online shop?
I woke up this morning, ready for a change. I'm feeling the call of my new book, and I want to do more painting. I've had enough R&R now. The sap is rising! 😀
Plus, I would like to drop half a stone before the cruise. Doable, I think. I did my half hour of exercises, but I need to get more active in general. A small start is getting out this afternoon with John, on a date.😊
I woke up this morning feeling frustrated with myself, and then realised that was a good thing - the first sign of change. I've been in a chrysalis stage for a while. We have to pay the balance on the cruise next week. Maybe that's getting some shift going. I always had faith that this chrysalis stage wouldn't last forever, and I feel that I'm now moving in to the hatching season.
The sun is shining straight into my bedroom. I love my new bedroom, it brings me such peace.

Hello, my Friends;
Dh arrived yesterday. I don't know what is wrong with me, but it takes time to get used to someone sharing this house with me. I was falling asleep, and he came up, and I screamed. He scared the life out of me. Yesterday, he prepped for his Colonoscopy. I thought it was weird that they only wanted him to start prep at 5 pm and only take half. Then he will finish the remainder in the am. The test is at noon.
I had to come into work in the morning yesterday to do some paperwork. Listening to my co-workers, I think they have a melodic accent. Californians don't have an accent. My DH said that when I am talking to my bestie, we have a Torrance, CA accent. Some people say I have a mixture of a Chicago and Californian accent.
Dh took Rose to the park, and she loved it. We also played ball in the backyard. Then I had a headache the rest of the day yesterday.
I am currently reading a book titled "Frozen River." This book takes place in the 1700s. This is a story told by a Midwife. She was called to deliver this baby, who was a girl, and the woman was disappointed cause the husband wanted a son. I love how she said that the wife has no control over what she has. This is also a murder mystery of a rapist. It is pretty good. I also have been playing online Scrabble, and I love it. I also love doing my math crossword puzzle, along with Wooduko.
Well, I have to sleep now. Sleep well, my friends, it is now 2:43 am.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Debbie - I use duck legs which I buy in packs of two. I think it's always best to divide a whole duck into breast and legs. They require totally different cooking times. Breast rare. Legs well cooked. I pierce the legs a few times, and rub them well with salt, pepper, and a lot of Chinese Five Spice. Roast on medium for 90 minutes. Shred. I serve with v thinly sliced cucumber and scallions. Hoisin sauce. And Chinese pancakes that I buy frozen from the Asian shop. They come in multiple packs of six. I microwave those. Each person makes their own. Smear the pancake with sauce, add some sprigs of cucumber and scallions, then the duck, including some crispy skin, roll up, and eat! Yummo!
It's a very popular meal, often as a shared starter, in UK Chinese Restaurants.

Hey, kids…
Tracey - Thanks! Heather - Yes, I think I will. It will be a good pairing with the afghan I just finished, and I need to put something up, haven't posted anything else for sale in months.
Veronica - Good to see you back, and I know that had to be good to get the twins back and hard to wave goodbye to the 12-year-old.
Flea - Just love Harley, he's such a beautiful boy. Luckily, Corey can sleep through most things, so I have the window A/C beside my bed with the white noise, and then the TV on - I turn the sleep timer on the TV to a half hour, and could probably set it at 15 minutes. I have YouTube on, either "How the Universe Works" playlist with Mike Rowe's voice, or one of the sleep videos, like philosophy or something else, that are two to three hours long. I have the sound turned very low, so I have to concentrate on it in order to hear it. Puts me to sleep in 5 to 10 minutes.
Okie - That reminds me! Thank you so much for the hint on the projection alarm clock. I absolutely love being able to know exactly what time it is just by opening my eyes. No other movement necessary. Centers me right down and I'm back to sleep in moments.
And speaking of sleep, I'm up early, but Cor's back to work today, and I have things on my mind to get done in the spare bedroom. Didn't hit a lick on the walls yesterday, but I did get the doors on sawhorses out in the carport, glued where they'd come apart years ago and clamped, with the dings filled in with wood filler. Will do a light sanding on them, and they'll be ready to paint. I'm going to pop up to Lowes this morning and get some of the metal corners for sheetrock so I can get that room finished.
Yesterday, by the time I got the doors done, Corey was outside working on that stone terrace between the two houses- which at its tallest is probably 7 or 8 ft. high. He was clearing decades of growth around it with the tractor. I'll try to get a couple pictures of it today - you can actually see it now, whereas before, it was all vines and brush. (Edit to Add: Rain is supposed to start before daylight and rain for six hours, so maybe tomorrow on that picture!)
I knew he wouldn't be able to stop until he was out there for hours working on it, and then would feel he had to mow, as well, so I just went ahead and got the mowing done, finished in a couple of hours. Meant we were both inside and cleaned up and relaxing by 3 p.m. instead of him working out there all hours of his day off.
What was funny was, it's been pretty dry lately here, and I was terribly dusted out from swanning around on that zero-turn. When I looked in the mirror before I took a shower, I thought I had a sunburn, even though I put sunscreen on. Turned out to be blown dirt sticking to the sunscreen and sweat! 😅
Happy to see the scale at 159 this morning, and hope to keep that going.
Corey will be up and around in a minute and then off to work…
Later, y'all,
Love from Arkansas,
Lisa6 -

Mo — everyone has an accent. 😊
We just have trouble hearing the accents we've become used to.
I don't hear most Australian accents or most Canadian accents. I know they are quite different, but to me, they sound the same … just normal.
Oddly (to me), many Australians mistake my 'Canadian accent tinged with Australian' as Irish!! Apparently I have a lilt.

Lisa: I had noticed that you hadn’t posted in a while, but assumed that you were otherwise occupied with all the outdoorsy activities.
I have been writing most mornings this month. It’s very relaxing and therapeutic.
Already put laundry away this morning and did some strength, flex and cardio.

Good morning my friends!
I am done wearing that clunky plastic boot on my broken foot Yay! I have two weeks with my sturdy hiking boots and gentle exercise. Then back to the usual.
My mom used to wash some of my clothes with vinegar but then they smelled of vinegar all day. She either used too much or I was sensitive.
Rebecca why the higher dose? I thought it was working well already. Just curious.
Machka it's a Merach Q1SW low end magnetic rower. The rails have a titanium edge it says, but some of the other parts are plastic. It's largely white and looks pretty good but it's awkward in the TV room.
Heather There is lots of twisting in line dancing. You are smart to practice. Yay for fresh starts! And I'm impressed that you can cook anything!
Pip your vacation looks lovely!
Barbara I feel very awkward around my Dad's church friends. Neither of us know their names at this point, except for a few elderly friends.
Mo My dogs would never come for my ex, because he never gave them a reason. You can't punish a dog to make him come. I used to hold out my cupped hand, and if they were lucky there was a treat in it. So they generally came to see. I started at a distance of ten feet or so. The trick is getting a treat out without them noticing.
Veronica Yay for down a couple pounds! A few of us have ADHD. I find meditation helps to develop some extra control necessary to control the impulses. But good luck getting started with that with a teen boy.
Debbie I like to have the radio playing but I keep it off so my Dad can hear better. He watches TV with the sound way up and there is no escaping the screaming.
Kylia Yay for nicotine free! Such a big step for your health. You can do it!
Sue Ozempic would be a big decision.
Lanette Yay for walking!
Flea Harley is a beautiful pup. It's great that he is entertained by the goings on.
Lisa clever design on that pillow! You are talented! And you and Corey work together so well. My ex was a total nightmare to work with.
Tracey decluttering with a tractor bucket! Wow.
I am feeling a little put off by this new rower. Time to get on and try out the darn thing. I just hope this app works out. It's supposed to be free with the rower, but the manual is misleading.
Well ladies may you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Lisa - that granny square pillow is stunning. How long did it take to whip that up?
Pip - looks like a great time, what a beautiful place!
Tracey - your story about bringing things from NB reminds me I still have boxes my sis sent me from Indiana when she cleaned out our parents house after they died. I looked at them a few years ago, tossed a few things (not many) and it’s probably time to go through them again.
Glad to hear the HRT is helping!
Annie - glad to hear you are done with the boot. Can't wait to hear how you like your rower. I used to use one at the gym a little, at first awkward until I got it figured out.
I am used to noise when I sleep. For years I listened to Art Bell (that probably explains a lot, doesn't it? 😁) at night with headphones connected to a radio to not bother DH. Now I tune in to Mr. Ballen on Spotify and let that play all night. I like to be lulled to sleep by mysterious stories for some reason.🤨 I
Do any of you take an anti-inflammatory on a daily basis to cope with arthritis pain? My back is getting better all the time. Due to footwear change (from rockers to crocs) plus I've been taking an ibuprofen before I go to bed at night which really dampens any pain I'd be getting. So I'm sleeping better and longer. Acetaminophen doesn't help as much. My DH was on Celebrex and prednisone for decades for his RA and I'm pretty sure the drugs took a toll on his health. When we get to a certain age, though, perhaps the benefits outweigh the risks if they better our quality of life for our remaining years. A few of my friends, my age (mid 70's), who were die hard "I'm never taking that stuff!" have recently come to that very conclusion.
I started watching “Patience” on PBS Masterpiece yesterday. I like it a lot - hadn’t taken the time to see what’s on Prime video in ages it seems.
We had a hot day yesterday - it got up to 90F in the afternoon. So I played around with budget stuff and have a few things to take care of when I go to the bank tomorrow.
T's FIL - what to do? Also spent quite a bit of time over the weekend chatting with T whose FIL, 92, was taken to the hospital last Friday. Dementia, delirium, not eating/drinking much so was anemic, dehydrated, kidney problems. Angry and abusive. He becomes combative at night/early morning, ripping out IV's, hitting and slapping anyone who tries to help. Has a catheter. He can still walk a little. So they are keeping him somewhat sedated there at the hospital and trying to build him back up. He has 5 sons and 3 of them want him to be released to go back home and be tended by nurses because he's adamant he doesn't want to go to a nursing home. T wishes they would have gotten him on a list for a facility - he has been going downhill for months. There's a waiting list for these places tho he might be able to get into a rehab place if that would be suitable for him. Not sure if home health care nurses are even available. I haven't talked to her in a few days to see if they've been able to find nurses or what the plan is now. I told T, since she's my medical POA, to please put me in a facility if I ever get to this stage.
Better get this posted. A cooler day today, so should be able to finish some mowing this morning.

Lanette ~ I am sure T's FnL is a great concern for her with so many health/mental problems at age 92.
Annie ~ Hoping that rowing machine will be easier for you than you seem to expect.
Accents: Every time I hear myself speak on the answering machine I cringe. My voice sounds whiney and nasally. Ugh! 😣

😀 Headphones were my friend when living with someone who had the TV on all the time watching stuff that annoyed me. With headphones I could listen to music or podcasts and go about my business.
😀 Lisa, what a great thing to do with your granny squares. One summer when we were traveling in our RV in extra warm places, I crocheted enough granny squares to make a blanket. I sewed the squares together in the winter and made a beautiful blanket but all that sewing was so tedious. I never did that again.
😀 Tracey, When my grandmother moved out of her house to live with her sister in the 1960's, my parents drove from California to New York to clean out her house. I remember the basement being filled with "stuff" and they must have cleaned it out a lot like you did but without the tractor. They shipped a lot of stuff back to their house and drove home in two cars so they could keep her car. When my mother died in 1991 we were in the same town so it was easier, but I ended up keeping a lot of my grandmother's glassware and china and other pretty things. I gave a lot of it to my daughter about 15 years ago. Now I'm finally down to a few precious items after all these decades. Some of the things I gave to my daughter when she came last week were coins and jewelry that belonged to my parents. It's an endless process.
😀 Annie, good news about the boot. Hope the rower turns out to be useful. I used one once but I prefer the recumbent bike because I don't need to use my hands to I can knit while riding.
😀 I went to the library yesterday to pick up the newest book by an author I love. I'd put the book on hold while the library still had it on order so I'm one of the first in town to read it and I'm reading it for free.

Lanette I have taken Quercetin for two nights now. I was having trouble with leg cramping early in the morning 3-5 and planter factitious in my right heel where it that disturbed my sleep. I was becoming crabby during the day. All the projects was also effecting my nerves.
First night less cramping and foot did better. Second night bed by 11 up at six with minor cramping and foot feels much better. I have been wearing a type of boot for planter factitious too. Trying to due more calf stretching too. It is part of my root cause for my foot problem.
I looked up side effects and it does say be careful if you have kidney issues. I am only taking a small amount and if it helps me get better sleep I figure that is a big win for my kidneys. I also did not have to get up for two nights in a row for a bathroom trip.
Quercetin iis a a natural anti-inflammatory found in plants. I am just trying an extra dose to see if it helps with the root cause of my problems.
I will say regardless of what you are taking to look up pros and cons of whatever it is. Learn if it can be taken with medicine or supplements you are already taking. Even natural supplements Vitamins included can have negative side effects if over done or mixed with other medicines or supplements.
I am not sure how Quertin would interact with the other things you are taking. I do know ibuprofen can have an effect on your gut.
If kidneys are not filtering the toxins out of the blood coupled with dehydration it can cause the behavior you describe your DFIL. Sometimes people become quite toxic when their bodies are not working properly. It doesn't make it any easier, but it helps explain their behavior. Best to do something very positive for yourself after having to help someone in that state.

Zepbound has an intro dose of 2.5 then most gradually go up throughout the journey. At some point I will be in maintenance and only take the dose every two weeks. I think your body adapts to it, but like my doctor said since I lost weight on the beginning dose, I should tolerate the 5 mg dose just fine. I don't want to go up too quickly in dosage as I can get to a point where I still have more weight to lose, but be at the highest dose. No room for growth. That all being said, some stay on 5 mg and lose all their weight. That's why my doctor prescribed a 3 box refill. That's 4 weeks in every box. So all together 9 months! That could be my whole weight loss journey right there! Yesterday though, I couldn't pick it up at the pharmacy because they only had one box in. I was like, well I start the dose this Thursday, will I be able to just take the one box? She said no, the doctor had written the prescription for 3. Oh brother! She did state it would be in by Wednesday afternoon, so I will pick them up then. Its like picking up a gold bar, as most people on this medicine outside of the military pharmacy pay $600+ for one box. So my prescription is worth $5400+! I am so grateful to be able to use this as a tool to help me lose weight, so that's why I am so determined to do things right.

Night noise ... I wear earplugs and an eye mask when I sleep to cut both noise and light.
I can sleep with white noise like a fan, but not much more than that.
Anti-inflamatories ... although my feet (and sometimes other parts, like my hips) ache when I am trying to sleep, I won't take anti-inflamatories unless the pain is keeping me awake. I won't take them during the day either unless my arthritic joints are screaming in pain. It has to be pretty bad before I take anything.
I usually try to do other things to ease the pain.

Margaret - I often take Quercetin, and did for long periods of time while the pandemic was at its heights because of the immune system boost. That and zinc. I now take supplements with a fair amount of quercetin in them, and haven't noticed any anything detrimental in my labs.
Dr. Lisa is aware of the supplements I take and she's an osteopath so is probably more educated in nutrition than the average bear. The arthritis in my lower back is fairly major right now so I think supplements probably aren't the answer anymore. I know some folks have good luck with Turmeric and Curcumin. They upset my stomach and also can be toxic in large amount from what I've read. Most things are, aren't they?
Yes, I'm sure you are right about T's DFIL's behavior due to his failing kidney function, similar to UTI's changing behavior in otherwise healthy older people. T wishes she could help be the decision maker about his fate, but she's just the in-law so her input is pushed aside. All we can do is learn and make good planning for our older years.
Machka - The fact that the pain at night was keeping me awake - every time I shifted in bed, it would flare - has me thinking about taking an anti-inflammatory on a more permanent basis. The PTherapist was blaming my mattress, but it turned out to be more than that from what the X-ray showed. This will be the topic of discussion when I see Dr. Lisa this coming Friday.

Well I tried the rower and the basic functions are fine. I did ten minutes. But they have removed the free app from the app store with no explanation. All I get is the little monitor, smaller than a phone with a few numbers. It doesn't even display strokes per minute. And the footpads are too close to the front, so that the seat hits the front stop almost every stroke. I can learn to avoid that. I don't think I can return it because I can't get it into the car. And to add insult to injury, the price came down further. Not much but still. I was looking forward to that stupid app.

Lanette … so my husband and I both take daily anti-inflammatories for arthritic pain and severe back pain. I take the recommended dose of naproxen sodium 2 times a day. That's the dosage for 24 hour relief and I take it for osteoarthritis in my knees (which will eventually need knee replacement). When I have flares in pain in other parts of my body (like my back), I discontinue the naproxen sodium and switch to ibuprofen 600 mg and follow their time schedule. When that pain has subsided, I go back to the naproxen sodium. Ibuprofen eventually tears up my stomach … naproxen sodium does not. My orthopedic doctor and my general practitioner approve of this regimen. They also monitor my kidney function closely. My husband, with 3 back surgeries and another one looming, discontinued all opiate based pain killers after his last surgery and is currently taking 600mg ibuprofen 3 times a day. It is helping him stay mobile … it does not remove all pain. Tylenol does nothing for either one of us. Again, he is monitored closely through blood labs as well.
I am sorry that T's FIL is suffering so. Sun-downers is so awful to watch. Kidney function is not always the culprit. My mom's kidney function is "perfect" according to her labs and she has experienced sun-downers as well as mild psychotic breaks. Yes, infection can sometimes be the culprit but not always. Aging brain, vascular issues … these things all play a part. Getting into your 90s is a mixed bag of treats that's for sure. My mom will be 94 this month. And getting into a good facility is like hitting the jackpot.
Flea … are you the one that mentioned a cauliflower crust pizza that you liked as well as a flour based crust? If so, would you share your recipe? I'd like to try it!
Lisa … granny squares. I had one experience with granny squares in my teens. Thought I would make a hot pink and white afghan. Years … many years later … the squares ended up in the trash. Your pillows look great!
Mo … my husband retired in 2021 and I still can't get used to him being in my space during the day. When my dad retired, my mom had a horrible time with dad rearranging her refrigerator to make it more organized. She was so mad at him! He told her to take it to her union. He's lucky he lived out the day! Lol!
Rainy day and I'm getting caught up on cleaning. Not my favorite thing to do but always feel good when it's done.

😱 Annie, sorry to hear about the rower. My bike turned out to be less than I wanted but I made it work for me and now I can't live without it. I don't worry about apps or statistics. I just keep track of time that I'm on it. And while I use it, I watch tv or listen to a podcast or an audiobook. Now that I'm alone, I don't need to use headphones but when I didn't live alone I used headphones and I enjoyed the exercise plus diversion. Best wishes as you navigate this new challenge.

We went out around 4 pm and I suggested that we toddle around The Lanes before we ate. We visited a couple of artisan shops that we have just walked past before. John likes looking in men's posh clothes shops. He once bought a jacket. It's still a favourite.
I had cocktails in mind, but we ended up sitting outside a very nice, old pub, and I had a glass of white wine and John had a pint of beer.
It felt just like being on holiday!
Then we wandered down the promenade to The Regency. There was some kind of big union conference going on, so the pavement was crowded with men drinking beer
We were early enough to get my favourite table, but it started filling up by 6 pm. I had octopus, followed by skate and salad. John had mussels, followed by hake and chips. We shared an Afagato to finish.
On the walk back to the bus, I suddenly had a Lisa moment, but luckily there was a pub right there. Great relief! Caught the bus, and now I'm home with a big glass of water.
Such a rare occasion for us to go out like that. Perfect weather for it. Not too hot. Definitely felt very 'continental'. :-)

How nice of you to have a nice outing! I was like that yesterday with husband. Its a nice drive from Oak Harbor to Anacortes, which is technically the next island to ours. It was a bright blue day, and we went to a fish/burgers/pizza place we'd never been to. My appetizer of 5 Baja seasoning dusted shrimp cocktail with a tequila lime sauce was delightful! I ordered fish tacos which I ate one and today had the others. Well actually just the inside of the tacos, with cut up cucumbers and some of the leftover cocktail sauce, and a small avocado. Pretty much my only meal yesterday, and it was a bit rich for me, but so yummy!

dh and my mom both tend to keep the volumn up on the tv.mom has hearing aids but still keeps it turned almost all the way up. Dh keeps it loud but not as loud BUT, the shows he watches, I do NOT want to hear, especially things like The Walking Dead- I don't like all that screaming, etc. That is one show I will not allow on in the living room or bedroom if I am in that room. Another of his favorites is Supernatural.
He goes in extremes- Watches those, all the Star Trek shows AND the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie.I mainly watch HGTV and FoodNetwork, some National Geographic type. I do watch Survivor and Big Brother when they are one. (have only missed one episode out of 48 seasons of Survivor-back before dvr's and it was the season finale)

Mo, thought of you and Vicki and all our health care professionals today when an ambulance went by. Always say a prayer for the patient, caregivers and family. Today added you to the list. Even earth angels need prayers ;}
Veronica conVERY grats on the couple pounds gone. Night time snacks are one of my (many) challenges ;}
Rita can’t open the blob links, changes url to “unsafe:blob…
Kylia “still nicotine free” Tremendous accomplishment. You GO Gal.
Sue hooray for looser jeans, and for not being ready for the O route yet.
Lanette envy your good posture, I slump even when carrying nothing. “Art Bell,” oh does that bring back memories! Pain relief, imho nothing beats aspirin. Know it’s hard on some folks’ stomachs, but ibuprofen is hard on the liver and Tylenol is VERY hard on the kidneys. For me it’s aspirin mostly and ibuprofen when things are really bad.
Flea yours to Debbie. Truth. Thanks for the Nick Martin PG Wodehouse YouTube suggestion. Love the Harley pic.
Debbie and all you farm gals, I so admire you. This 4th generation wimpy city gal just couldn’t butcher chickens…

Heather thanks for the crispy duck recipe, wondered every time you mentioned it. Yum!
Annie “… can’t punish a dog to make him come” So very true. I think Joe is getting it, he’s tried hard to be kind to Mooch and as a result is less frustrated with him . . . Would your Dad wear TV headphones?
Carol there’s no way you could sound like anything but a honey sweet Georgia peach.
Margaret what you said about researching supplements and prescriptions. Combinations can have unintended consequences.
Only part way through pg 10 but it’s time to scoot to line dancing, I hope.
