Wow! I just learned...

There are a few things I've learned in adulthood that pretty much blew my mind.

One is that there was never any such dinosaur as a Brontosaurus! It's true! It was just a mismatch of Apatosaurus bones!

You can read more about that here: http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/371/is-it-true-the-brontosaurus-never-really-existed

So, what have you learned lately that's rocked your world a little bit?

:drinker:

I knew this from science, but when a machine use suction, the air isn't really being "sucked" in. It's really being "pushed" in by higher pressure on the outside. So the next time you see a vacuum cleaner, the dirt is actually getting pushed in.

As an adult I learned the "real" lyrics to Greased Lightning from the movie Grease. Can't believe my mom let me go around singing that song!

I thought the very same thing about every song I sang by Meatloaf as a child. Can't believe my parents let me listen to it, much less sing it!

It's the air pushing down on top of the wings, not the air under them, that keeps planes in the air.

I know right! There are several songs I loved as a little girl that I hear now that just blow my mind at how naive I was.

I learned that there was no such thing as a triceratops. It's just an adolescent of another dinosaur. There's also no such thing as a pterodactyl, there are pterosaurs and a pterodactyls (a small pterosaur) and a quetzalcoatlus (a large pterosaur). With that being said I also learned as an adult that I am a nerd.

    CHORUS:
I get so weak in the knees I can hardly SEE.
I lose all control and something takes over me.
ON THE DAYS, your love's so amazing, it's not a PHRASE.
I want you to stay with me, by my side.
I swallow my pride, your love is so sweet.
It knocks me right off of my feet.

Before lyrics were out many people sang songs the way they heard them.

Who knows the words to "LET IT WHIP" chorus by the Dazz Band?
I can't explain why your loving makes me weak.

NO!!! Not "Let it Whip"........I'm afraid to ask. I danced to this in drill team class in high school and sang it all the time.
