I am just switching from WW to MFP as well. I was at my goal last year, but sadly, lost focus and regained a bunch of weight….and I'm trying to find motivation to exercise more and track my food so I hit my target calorie intake each day - I'm trying to focus on protein!!

3 days entering my food intake in the diary. Like when I can scan the barcode on a wrapper. Much harder when I have to look the food up and there's so much variation and nutrients for the exact same food. When the food entry in the database has a check mark in a green circle, does that mean it has been verified as accurate? Thanks everyone.

Hi All~~~It has been a long time since I have been here. I am so excited to start this journey again but bummed that I have to. I lost 30 pounds the last time I was here (with more to go to my goal) with a lot of work.

I am 51, sedentary at my desk all day and the weight has come back with a vengeance. I am ready to get this off again and start feeling good! Looking for some refresh on tips, tricks, meals (especially breakfast). It is amazing how quickly we forget 😂

Hi, I am 52 and sort of restarting. I am putting my trust in the hands of a dietician and well, I guess I have trust issues lol. Feels like she is recommending a lot of carbs and fat and said trust the process for a year and it will transform my body composition. I may need more support trusting the process than sticking to it. Hope to chat with you all!

The green check just means that several people have checked a box saying that that entry is correct, or was correct at the point in time that they checked the box (since product formulations can change).

One important fact: Almost all of the MFP food database entries are crowd-sourced, i.e., entered by regular users like you and me. Not everyone is accurate. This same thing applies to the bar-coded entries: They've just been entered by regular users, the first person who scanned the bar code, pretty much. They're not a direct pipeline to current, accurate information in your country from the manufacturer.

How to know what's accurate? Compare the calorie/nutrition details to the label on the food product. If the food product doesn't have a nutrition label, consult an authoritative source like this one:

    https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/

Once you log a food, it will be saved in your recent/frequent foods and come up first when you search to add something to your diary, as long as you continue eating it semi-frequently. You don't have to verify every food every time. Doing that at first so you get accurate items in your recent/frequent foods is an investment of time that gets you better accuracy for a long time.

I'm 50 and don't get much exercise right now due to multiple medical reasons. I'm getting ready to have several surgeries from now until the end of the year. But I am determined not to let this weight gain take control of my life. I lost over 30 lbs last time I was serious about my fitness journey. I plan to do it again and keep it off longer than 3 years. I'm looking for serious fitness journey friends for accountability to trade tips, tricks and recipes with. Send me a friend request if you like. Have a fantastic day today!
