I miss warm summer days! 32C … lovely!
Fortunately, though, Hobart has an additional 11 minutes of daylight in the evenings now. Every little bit of extra daylight helps.
I have discovered that several things help ease the pain of the arthritis in my feet, hips, and lower back.
- regularly changing my shoes. I can manage a pair of shoes one day, and then usually have to go to a different pair the next day. I have had people comment on my somewhat large shoe selection and some of it is just because I like shoes and boots, but one of the practical reasons for having a decent variety of footwear is because my feet may reject yesterday's choice. And if yesterday's choice was really not ideal, my feet may reject yesterday's choice and several other options … my feet might become quite picky about what they'll wear.
- walking barefoot whenever I can.
- hot showers in the mornings where I stretch my toes, hips, and back.
- swimming! My feet, hips and back don't hurt when I swim! It's marvellous!
- changing my exercise - walking one day, cycling another day, and swimming as mentioned above
- changing my position during the day - walking, standing, sitting, standing, walking, sitting … I try not to do one thing for any length of time. I'm also generally fidgety. I don't like letting anything "seize up".
- reclining butterfly - similar to the video but without the band. It's how I'll lie in bed and read before sleeping any time my hips are bothering me and really eases the pain. I usually bring my feet closer to my body and lay my knees a bit flatter.

Heather - Hope your friend enjoys her day. I would find the misery the heat causes far too distracting from the main event, but then, I like my creature comforts. On deliveries, they have just about quit requiring signatures for packages in this area of the U.S. unless they're going to a business. The delivery person just snaps a pic of the package and the door where it's placed to prove they dropped it off.
Tracey - Those triangle stands are new ones on me, but I'm going to get some of them when I stop in at Walmart today. Thank you! They're only about $5 for a dozen. That way I won't bung up the side I've already painted, and I can use them again for the last two doors, in the other spare bedroom that I use as an exercise room. Hope you can get Roger to go… Me, I can't handle the noise at car races - but then again, the same thing I said to Heather. I also hate yelling, and it's the only way you can communicate at a race. I know it's more about doing something together than what you're actually going to see.
Rebecca - So pleased for you that it's all going well, and yes, anything salty and crunchy is soooo easy to eat more of it than you think in a very short time. It was the kitchen scale that saved me for things like that, as I would weigh out a serving or half a serving by weight and re-seal the bag. I would also split an entire bag into portion-sized ziploc bags so I could grab one and walk away. Tracey's comment that ten pounds is a size was closer to 15 pounds for me. I dropped a size about every 15 pounds lost. I think we wait longer to buy smaller underwear because nobody can see them get baggy but us!
Barbie - Both dogs look quite spiffy and well pleased with themselves!
One last sunny day today then at least three days of rain coming. Keeps it from getting stupid hot, but the grass is going to be a foot high by Thursday, which is when it will be dry enough to mow. Ah, there's worse things. All those years in the desert still gives me a fondness for rainy days.
Summers aren't usually wet here, and it was already the wettest spring on record! The ground really is saturated, I've had to water my flowers only a couple days as we get to mid-July, and Corey's garden is going gangbusters.
Got my physical therapy appt. at 11. Will see the doctor today and then will have regular appts with a therapist in the weeks to come. It is only 7 miles away, and I'm grateful for that!
Won't get much done this morning, but then, that's why I got a lot done yesterday. I don't do much on days when I have appts. I can't get as absorbed as I want to, so I just don't start anything. I'm afraid I'll forget I have an appointment and miss it!
Anyway… time for more coffee and fall down a rabbit hole or two.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
😀 Like Heather and Barbara, I am grateful for living near the coast. It will get up to 72F this afternoon but when I walked the dogs at daybreak it was 47F. We have only a few 90F days each summer.
😀 Lisa, I watched one of your videos yesterday and completely missed the message because I was so enchanted by watching Egg grooming.
😀 Rebecca, one of the main reasons I avoid foods high in sodium is that the salty taste urges me to eat more than I should. or need. Salty and crunchy would be worse. Processed foods are more likely to have those qualities.
😀 Pip, your Las Vegas trip looks great.
😱 I finally jogged my accountant's memory about telling me how to change tax withholding. My income comes from three sources.. Each required a different procedure (phone call, form online, and filling out a form and mailing it in). That stuff stresses me and I was glad to have it done. I fell asleep almost immediately when I got into bed.

Good morning my friends!
Lanette glad T's FIL found a place.
Debbie drat that jackhammer!
Pip Happy birthday to Kirby!
Allie cute pics!
Tracey yes pants downstairs would help. But then he would wear them back upstairs at the end of the day. But there might be a way. Hmm.
My sitter cancelled on me so I didn't get to the library yesterday. It makes me reconsider whether I could lead a writing group. On the other hand, they could meet without me. Or I could bring Dad along. Hmm.
I haven't got a much to say today. I'm sure I will make up for it soon!
May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

😀 Annie, one of my end of the day routines includes laying out my clothes for the next day. Could you include a routine that includes daily bringing pants and robe for dad downstairs so they'd be there each morning. Routines can be helpful in solving problems. When you're a caregiver there are so many things to consider. Many hugs to you.

Annie… I agree with Barbie that routines/structure are very helpful … not just for the caregiver but also for those with dementia. My mom has become very stable now that her days follow a regular schedule and pattern.
Cupcakes … my mom will be 94 this month and we have been taste testing cupcakes from various stores in our area. I haven't been impressed with most of the cupcakes so ventured out to a highly rated (read very expensive) bakery. My mom and I tried three yesterday and the clear winner was a lemon raspberry cupcake. Oh my. It was so good. She asked how much they were and I told her not to worry about it. Later she said "are they like 50 cents apiece" and I said "yes." 🤣 I just decided that I don't know how many more birthdays she will have, so we'll make the most of each one she does have. She will also be sharing three dozen of these scrumptious cupcakes with the other residents on her floor (dietary has given the approval) and the staff. I thought they all were worth the added expense.
Lisa … drywall mud is what we patch holes in our walls too. Putty never dries right. And there was some kind of whipped marshmallow stuff that they sold for a while too to use for wall repairs. Also inferior.
Husband … my husband had a phone call with his neurosurgeon and an MRI has been ordered. Neither the doctor nor my husband are hopeful that surgery can be avoided.
Tracey … surprising Rodger with an activity that he enjoys speaks volumes about you! I hope you both have a good time and a chance to just "be together."
Mo … your son's internship sounds like a disaster. Best case scenario he would be interning at a place where he gained valuable experience and learned new skills to take him into his future.
Weather … the weather has been warmer than usual but we almost always have a breeze which makes it manageable. I don't mind the heat as much as the humidity.
Vehicles … the service garage couldn't figure out what is causing the high whistle in my husband's truck, but they checked essentials like the bearings and all of those things were ok. More reason to get moving on a new truck for my husband. Today my Ford Explorer is at the service garage with pulsating brakes. All of this upsets my husband as for years he did all of our vehicle repairs including major engine work. Acknowledging the limitations of aging (along with his back) has been very difficult for him.
Today I'm home and washing bedding … including the winter comforters that have been waiting in the laundry area for me to get to.

Got Lucy out for an early morning walk (run for her!) and she is passed out now. I need to work the visitor center today 10-1. Tomorrow is the Triathlon then I work the booth at least until lunch and maybe after as well depending on work they have for the summer help. Been really busy lately, but nice break from routine. I crochet when at the VC. It's slow there. I'm there mostly for the phone. I am making an afghan for the friend that I took the trip with.
We feeling sick all day yesterday. My digestive system seems to be causing many issues. Everything I read online about this, says to do what I'm already doing. It is part of the type of colitis I have. Sigh, I hope the doctor will have a better solution when I see her.
Thought for today:
Dogs can't operate MRI machines. But catscan.

Beth. The cupcakes sound delicious. I had to laugh at the 50 cents comment. I just happened to buy four gf cupcakes, four gluten cupcakes, and two cannolis yesterday from a gourmet bakery in town "featured on HGTV" according to their door, and I hope you are all sitting down, $44. I'd purchased there before and was prepared, but still. Today is buy one get one free, and I could have waited if I had known. I might go back today because the glutenators have just one cupcake and one cannolis left.
Glad it's Friday, although I didn't work this week, so I'm not sure what difference it makes.
Love to all.

Barbie, you’ll be proud of me. Put in my first ever on line Fred Meyer order for pickup this afternoon. Usually shop Fridays for the 4x fuel points, trying to limit town trips to once daily. Shadow’s first ever grooming appointment is this afternoon, I want to stay with her to see how it goes. Too hot to leave her in the car and shop on the way back home. What to do? Channel my inner Barbie and give online order/pickup a try. Fingers x’d.
Heather I’d worry about L too. Heat stroke and or exhaustion are not fun for anyone. ;{
Machka that reclining butterfly would sure look different with my too tight hips ;}
Lisa “all those years in the desert…” Ditto. And fog, just love our foggy forest mornings.
Beth making the most of your Mom’s birthday with the so good lemon raspberry cupcakes, well done! Prayers for your DH’s appointment and back.
Rita glad the NM flooding was not in your area, so many tragic weather events lately.
Flea yah, the gourmet bakery here charges $9 for one slice of cheese cake. Best donut shop ever has my favorite cro-nuts for only $2 ea. Thank goodness they are only open Fri-Monday and frequently sold out when I stop by…
Skipped 10 mins BB&B/Shoulder PT yesterday to get out early for Azure Standard pickup. Started over again this morning, keeping the 6 days out of 7 trend so far.
Action for happiness
1-check out chair yoga
2-can’t eliminate sugar yet, but can reduce by substituting smokehouse almonds for the dark chocolate covered ones I ate yesterday ;}
3-ask for help let T drive to lunch
4-looking forward to Highland Games in August with goddaughter
5-basics, substitute iced tea for Coca Cola. 10 mins BB&B/PT, go to bed on time.
6-pause, breathe, feel your feet firmly on the ground…
7-mood shift: line dance class
8-wanted (not must or should) to do morning exercise to keep trend growing
9-perspective: don’t stress over line dance bpm spreadsheet details. How many actually use?
10-share feelings with someone you trust
11- where there’s life, there’s hope.Heating up (for the coast) the next 3 days so time to get up and get out while it's cool.
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMODJuly focus: Just one thing from the OMG room. Really.

Hey, kids,
It is ALL scorchy outside, back home after my PT appt. and a few errands, and just walking across a parking lot is miserable. PT was… rough. He had to see where my pain points were, and made me yell more than I have in a long time. I know it was necessary. Still tiring.
But, home now, got homework to do, starting tomorrow, as far as exercises go, and then PT on Mon. and Wed. Plus gastro on Friday. Busy week ahead…
But for now… the weekend. Kinda wishing I had a cupcake now, Beth… Will just have to do with my SF Jell-o and SF Cool Whip. Sounds pretty good too, actually.
Later, babies,
Love,

Pleased with the hairdryer. It has two speeds and three temperatures. Plus a cold blast button . My hair was nice and smooth and shiny afterwards.
Very pleased with my noise cancelling headphones. I decided to do without the app. I don't need it. The normal operation is simple. So ... success! It was weird listening to YouTube videos and hearing all sorts of background odd sounds. I tested out a few different kinds of music as well. Excellent.
John's hat looks a bit cheap, but it was! It is comfortable and fits well. He's worn it for his walk. A real panama is a possible present for his future birthday, me thinks.
All the alcohol is delayed until tomorrow. That's what we need to be here for, as we have to give our age! 🤣 The headphones were dropped off without a signature, and just put in our 'safe space'. No ring, or knock. We were in. I don't think that's good enough for a £179 item. It was Royal Mail, (the post office) not Amazon.
Warm night, but not unbearable. I have a through draft.

Ladies- I sent two posts this afternoon that haven't appeared here yet and caught a little message that they had to be approved.
Perhaps the posts got kicked out because I mentioned a prescription anti-inflammatory Dr. Lisa put me on this morning by name. Also some new allergy meds. They were long so maybe you've been spared, lol.
Might also be an MFP glitch or maybe I'm now on a "by approval" list.
Let's see if this goes through.
Lanette 😎
UPDATE - OK it must have been the mention of the meds. When I get a chance I'll rewrite it. I've been skimming and I need to catch up on the fancy muffin and donut discussion. 😁

I would love a little of the heat waves some of you ladies are getting.
I have Aqua Zumba this evening. It is just 75 right now and will be low 60s by the time we get done with class- that is going to be CHILLY- I don't bother changing there but will take a nice hot shower as soon as I get home.2 -

Heather when I got my inheritance check from my mother's estate for Fed Ex all I got was a door bell ring and no signature. It was more than 179 pounds. My brother was the executor. I told him about it but by then there was much he could do. Thankfully I was right there to get the check. I was shocked!
We are getting smoke from Canada again this weekend. I will try and stay in as much as I can. Short walks for DrewB.

Hi Lovely Ladies,
I have been reading along and wishing everyone who has had a June and early July birthday a very happy one, the same with anniversaries!!!
I love all the pictures grand kids, pups, kitties, scenery…..
Wish I had the energy to comment on all of the events and pictures when they happened but not right now.
My health situation is stable and in many ways I am learning to live with the limited vision, so it is not as much work every time I look at anything, which means I am not so exhausted all the time. I am needing 10-11 hours of sleep each night and a 2ish hour nap in the afternoon – which the doctor says is normal after the surgery and amount of anesthesia. I have gotten my sense of smell and taste back, which honestly I did not know were gone until I adjusted a bit to the vision loss. I am glad to have them back, but it is so much easier to loose weight or keep it off if nothing tastes good or is tempting.
I have had friends step up and take me to appointments and shopping but I have been eager to figure out transportation on my own. What an surprise. We have a county bus system, but the closest bus stop to my home is 2 miles away – so I need to be ready to walk 4 miles (2 over 2 home!) There is some transport for seniors and disabled folks that is door to door, but only to Doctor appointments or to the pharmacy I finally found one that includes food. But none that include other appointments ie haircut or to get a pedicure which I will need as I can not successfully line my foot up with my vision LOL – nor to a friends or even from my home to the bus stop…. I am walking each day and slowly adding distance but 4 miles will take me a while to get to. I did sign up for the service that seemed the most reasonable, it’s door to door for medical appointments and food for me- but not dog food…, I signed up for my counseling appointments as I have to set up the trip 2 weeks or more in advance. And the counseling is at the same time and date each week. Many appointments will not be that far in advance.
I do know about food delivery, but the services I have looked in to have a delivery fee ($25-$45 depending on frequency) unless you spend $75+ and when I am shopping for just me or me and some items for my housemate, I almost never hit $55 I will continue to do research. We have a senior center just a mile from my home and I called the only service they provide is free or discounted lunch 5 days a week -- you need to sign up ahead and you must be there at 11:30 to get your lunch. I looked over the menu and it is a heavy hot meal – very heavy in carbs and fried food my doctor who wants me to each lean protein and veggie would not be thrilled. More research ahead!!!! It is limited by the amount of time I can spend on my computer with out exhaustion.
Love Kim

Temps - the last few years we’ve had a lot of +30c days. In the Winter we’ve seemed to have less -30 days.
Heather - I hope your friend had a great day! I told Rodger who they were going to see and he thought a couple of them had passed.
Lisa - You’re welcome. Those triangles have come in handy a few times for us.
I was catching up with you from the race, and then got into the races so now at home. It was a beautiful evening. You’re right, it’s the doing something together that’s important. The racing wasn’t as loud tonight. Tomorrow is louder.
They have mini cars here, driven by 8-12 year olds. There was a wreck and one boy was taken to the hospital. He was having what looked like a sprained/broken leg. I hope they let us know. These cars don’t even come up to the waist of the dads. I used Google and it says that the top speeds are 80-100mph but this is only a quarter mile track so they may be going closer to 50-60mph.
We’ve been having some rainy days too, nothing like you though.
Beth - That’s so thoughtful to buy cupcakes for the other residents and staff. It will be greatly appreciated for sure.
I hope your husband gets to avoid surgery.Flea - I chuckled at the fifty cents too. I know here there are bakeries selling a single cupcake for $7-$8.
I was glad it was Friday too this week.
It was a long week.Barbara - I hope the grocery pick up goes well. I know some people here use it to save money. No strolling the aisles.
Margaret - what state are you in that you’re getting smoke? I don’t know how many fires we have burning here right now for sure but I think it was 183 yesterday I heard.
Kim - I hope that you’re able to find more places for your needs to be met without added expense.
I so enjoyed our evening. The drive to and from led to conversations like we used to have. During breaks in the races there was joking and conversation. He even decided to go to bed when we got home instead of just sleeping on the couch so we’ll be sleeping together tonight.
My heart is happy. I think we need to do more things to get out together. I’m going to figure out how to make that happen.
I’m going to head to bed now.
Have a great day tomorrow ladies.

Kim - Hugs. That loss of independence must be hard. My first thought is a folding bike. Is your vision good enough for that? 😗 We have an expensive brand called a Bickerton, which you may be able to buy second hand. It folds up easily, and you can take it on the bus. Just a thought for those pesky appointments. You might be able to shop for food less often to get the numbers up. Most things freeze. We get a delivery less than once a fortnight. It's such a blessing, especially for boring things like toilet paper etc. Bread, meat, etc go straight into the freezer. You can freeze milk. Dog food would also work by delivery, and there's always Amazon. I buy almost every single tiny, tiny, thing from them. Even a toothbrush.
Love Heather xxxx thinking of you.💟

Hey, kidlins…
I woke up to a husband already awake and in the living room reading, and rain outside. The husband swanned back off to the bedroom with his coffee and computer, once I got my good morning kiss, and I've got laundry going already. Won't be able to hang it outside on the line, but that's OK too.
Did my four exercises they gave me - basically stretches to get that upper extension of my shoulder working. Didn't think it was much, but sitting here at a keyboard, I can definitely feel that right shoulder's been worked. Supposed to do those twice a day.
Tracey - I'm so pleased to hear that racing was a good thing for the two of you. First time in a long time you've said that you both enjoyed yourself on a night out, and it's heartening to hear. My grandson just graduated from the mini-car range of racing in South Texas, and up to the next level, whatever that is. He lives with his bio-dad year round, and that's something they do together I guess. Just as glad to not be watching, honestly… Like Jonah, he's already outstripped me in height, but I haven't seen him for nearly three years now.
Heather - Glad John's faux-Panama was a success, the authentic ones are expensive! Makes me glad Corey likes the $5 Walmart baseball caps. He wears one all day, every day, and when they won't go through the washer anymore, I buy him a new one. Tell John I think he would look great in a baseball cap! 🤣🧢😂
Kim - Just… thinking about you, kid. It's a long process, what you're dealing with, and I'm so proud of you that you immediately started adjusting your world to deal with it. Not easy, though, and definitely not cheap in terms of energy or emotion.
Deciding whether to accomplish anything today or not. Still haven't decided.
We had a long discussion last night about what's coming for Corey's retirement, which is just six years away now. Tentatively, we're talking about buying a massive Class A RV - one of the big diesel pushers, kind of like this beastie at right, which has two slide-outs on one side and one on the other.
The used ones are out there for very good prices right now, but right now, the plan is to set up the area where the little house was to park an RV. Find exactly the one we want and buy it about four years-ish from now. Put the big house up for sale, and sell all the land with it EXCEPT for the little house acre, which is separate already, and not in the trust.
With the RV already in hand, we'll have time to wait out the market - and once it does sell, move into the RV and finish out Corey's time until retirement, however long that may be. Hit the road when he's done working and when we're ready. That year or two will teach us whether we really can handle living in that space, and if not, then we'll just head wherever it is we've decided we might want to buy a place. That could be ten miles from here or a thousand. Don't know yet.
All KINDS of possibilities between now and then. Including annoying DOZENS of salespeople by looking at all their RVs and not buying one. 😂🐈⬛🤣
OK - Last cup of coffee to trundle into the man, and then I need to decide whether to get going on a project or to get in the shower and take the day off afterward.
Decisions, decisions… 😅
Later, my lovelies,
Lisa in AR6 -
Insomnia again last night- not sure why- had a good workout at aqua zumba last night and it wasn't too cold(a bit chilly getting out of the pool)Fitbit says I swam 2570 yds in 58 min. First time it automatically tracked as swimming. Average heart rate for that hour was 120
I swam a bit before and after class but they had free swim so too many kids.
Next Friday I will leave right when class is over, come home for a very quick shower then drive up to mom's for the weekend. I may just change and take a shower at her house. Don't want to miss class as we only have this month and next month.Up very early when dh was getting ready to leave. He will be in Stockton all weekend and with son moved out- I have the house to myself, well, me and all the cats.
FitBit says I got 3hrs45min of sleep. Beings I was up a bit after 5:30(feral cat in her catio was crying/talking about something and wouldn't stop so I went out and fed her-think she is just lonely), the cats thought it was time to eat. Fed them and helped dh carry all his stuff outside- his friend picked him up. Wide awake so checking in here while I have my first of I am sure MANY cups of tea before getting started on my chore list. I won't get everything done on it but do need to get at least most of it done or started. Dishes first, need the sink empty so I can give the old grandma cat her weekly bath. Glad Shiro enjoys them- have to wait until it warms up a bit- poor old girl is skin and bones even though she eats all the time.Just 6lbs or a bit less. Haven't weighed her in a while.
One thing I really need to work on is a sewing project for my friend's mom. She gave me the fabric before Christmas.
I also want to sew some catnip toys- I have so much dried catnip.
Has anyone ever drank catnip tea???
A lady that picked up plants from me said she drinks it-works better than melatonin- may have to try a bit of it.Tracey- I am happy to see you had a good time together with your hubby. I need to figure out something for mine and I to do, other than shopping. I know he would love it if I went to the movies with him but, I don't like the movies- they are too loud and I do not like the same kind of movies he does. There are a few I would sit through but not any that he likes that I would really enjoy seeing. Now if he wanted to go see Stitch, I would be good with that ;)
Now that the stress level is so much better with him, I don't mind being with him as much. Still not good but it is better.Ok- first cup of tea gone, now to wash the dishes while the water heats up for a second cup.
May switch to coffee later.Don't plan on even leaving the house all weekend- looking forward to it- I will even watch church from home in the morning.

Triathlon was postponed for an hour due to a thunderstorm rolling through. So, I was able to see the swimmers for the first time this year. I brought Lucy with me who was a big hit. I had to carry her-too many people around that looked like giants! LOL
Not sure if or when I will need to run the pay booth today. I sent a text, but no answer yet.
The only thing DH likes doing as a couple is shopping. I wish he would go to the movies with me. Much cheaper than shopping!
Thought for today:
My wife asked me to put Ketchup on the shopping list.
Now I can't read anything!

Lisa - John has a baseball cap that he wears most of the time in the summer. Unfortunately, I absolutely hate them. 🤨 It makes me cringe when men wear them indoors. John doesn't do that. I love his other hats - pork pie, panama, tweed cap. He has to wear some kind of head covering on his walks because of his large bald patch. In mainland Europe, the baseball cap immediately marks you out as a tourist. He likes them because he refuses to wear sunglasses for some reason, and the peak keeps his eyes in shadow. The panama is for cricket, because it protects the back of his neck from the sun. I'm thinking of getting him a real one for his birthday.
We sre having a street party today, but fortunately it's at the other end of the street. I can't hear anything right now, 5 pm, but I expect there to be music. We went once, and it was terrible, so I don't think we will make the effort. Our immediate neighbours don't go either.
L had a wonderful time at the concert, despite the heat. She is a trooper! She was there from 1 pm until 10. 30 pm. Her friend had to leave halfway through the Neil Young set at the end, and go back to the hotel. L stuck it out. I'm going to chat with her tomorrow morning, as she gets back home this evening.
LLove to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Huh. I've always found men in baseball caps to be quite sexy. Well, most men. Definitely NOT a tourist thing here. What I've never gotten used to is the ones that wear them backward all the time. Kinda ruins the whole point of the cap, honestly!

Good morning ladies!
Mo - good luck to your DH with the job interview. Sounds like he's seriously in the running. Sorry to hear about your son's disappointment with the internship. Like most of the things we encounter in life, it's a learning experience. I found that no matter how much I research and plan, I still don't make the best decisions at times. "This is how I learn" is my mantra.
Rita - so glad to hear you didn't get washed away like you nearly did what - last year when the river took out a bridge near you? I'll bet Lucy is a hit with everyone. Hope you are feeling better after the stomach crud you had recently.
Lisa - it's so much fun to plan and think about the future. A large motorhome like that one has a lot of possibilities. You're able to plant a seed in the universe and see what sprouts in time. How's Corey's garden?
Tracey - so nice you and Rodger had a great time together. I miss those travel discussions so much. Crossing fingers more "dates" like this come along for you soon.
Heather - reading about those chipped teeth made me cringe.
Debbie - I would love to send some heat down to you. When you do have hot weather - how does your mom keep her hens cool? Luckily my chicken house and run are in the shade until noon. I'll take a snack out to them around noon (they get spinach and chopped cabbage - not too spoiled!) and a big ice cube for their water bowl. Enjoy your weekend alone. Now with MIL gone, hoping you and your DH will find something you can both enjoy together and get reacquainted. 😊
Hey, are your tomato plants setting tomatoes? I have a few small ones on each one of my plants. I don't think they set fruit in hot weather so that might be it for a few days. Plenty of blossoms though.
Barbara - my thermostat is like Joe's. 75 is just about my limit too.
Kim - good news that you are continuing to heal and your sense of smell and taste are returning. Hoping your vision also comes back. All of this takes time. Very glad to hear your friends are taking you to appointments and shopping. Crossing fingers you'll find a way to do some of that on your own. I know you miss your independence. I sure would.
Beth - what a nice idea to bring those "50 cent" muffins 😉😁 to your mom's birthday party. Lemon raspberry no less. I've been searching for a small bakery all morning.
Flea - I really hope I can find a super special muffin. I wouldn't mind paying a lot for one as a special treat. Sounds like you hit the muffin jackpot!
OK, about yesterday-
Dr. Lisa put me on a prescription anti-inflammatory similar to ibuprofen, it is easier on a person's stomach. One tablet per day instead of 3. Not very expensive either. My DH was on it for years and it's safety tested. Long term use possible kidney effects. The generic is cele - cox - ib. (Written like that in cast the algorithm feels like kicking out this post.😁)
She also switched me to Al - legra for my allergies. She said it's more effective than Zyr - tec. So far I've been sneezing a little but ears aren't plugged and I've already been out weed eating so we'll see if it holds.
Regarding T's FIL - the family was extremely fortunate to find an opening in town. The care home has only 6 residents, a 24/7 RN on staff and daily doctor rounds. It's pretty pricey but fortunately FIL has some $$ saved and probably some insurance. He was supposed to be released by the hospital yesterday afternoon with the family planning to gather to welcome him to his new "home" but they got a call yesterday morning that he still needed to meet with a neurologist and it didn't sound like that would happen yesterday. The family is livid - after all of the meetings with doctors and planning at the hospital, this comes up at the last minute. And he'd have to stay there over the weekend until Monday - the care home doesn't take weekend admissions. I haven't heard from T since then - I wouldn't be surprised if T's husband and a brother or two drove up there yesterday and brought their dad home. 😁
I have the house shuttered, opened windows early this morning to let cool air in. Projected high 88F this afternoon.😣 But, we don't often get hot weather so in reality, it's not a big deal. On average, we have super weather here.
Lanette 😎
