Lanette Unfortunately the peonies do not have much smell. These pink are from a thirty year old plant that I got a start from my mother-in-law so they still have a scent when I cut them fresh from the garden. My newer ones I bought within the last 5 years not so much.

M according to my Creatine and my kidney function at 59. If I just go by those numbers it is at the beginnings of stage 3a. The problem with kidney disease it is often silent until it is at very late stages. That is what happened to my husband his kidney cancer was not found until a very late stage.

I am taking a low dose of the Quercertin. 250mg. I had my first night of no leg cramping in the morning. My heel with its plantar fasciitis is feeling better too. In my research of Quercertin they say stay under 1000mg. It is making me to take another look at the vitamins I take and any foods even those that are said to be healthy. From the net…"Foods rich in quercetin include capers, red onions, kale, apples, grapes, berries, cherries, citrus fruits, broccoli, and green tea. Quercetin is a flavonoid, a type of antioxidant, found in many fruits and vegetables. It's also available as a supplement." Also from the net..Other notable sources of quercetin include:

    • Tomatoes: Especially cherry tomatoes, which have a high skin-to-flesh ratio.
    • Buckwheat: A grain that is a good source of quercetin.
    • Red Wine: Contains quercetin and other beneficial antioxidants.
    • Shallots: A mild onion with a good amount of quercetin.
    • Asparagus: Cooked asparagus contains quercetin.
    • Pistachios: A nut that contains quercetin.
    • Black Tea: Another tea that provides quercetin.

    Tips for maximizing quercetin intake:

    • Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables: A diverse diet ensures you get a good range of nutrients, including quercetin.
    • Choose red and purple produce: These often contain higher levels of quercetin.
    • Leave skins on fruits and vegetables when possible: Many beneficial compounds, like quercetin, are concentrated in the skins.
    • Consider lightly cooking vegetables: While some quercetin can be lost in cooking water, lightly cooking can make some vegetables easier to digest and may increase absorption.
    • Enjoy tea and red wine in moderation: These beverages offer a tasty way to add quercetin to your diet.

Some of these foods are high in oxyalates so I need to be aware of that too!

I did read that quercetin is can be helpful with respiratory issues. Considering how bad our smoke was for four days for me it is another reason to take it.

I do eat a number of foods containing quercetin so I know I have to keep any supplemental dose low.

What surprises me is my doctor when looking at those numbers did not say more than drink more water. I needed to tell her how bad those leg cramps were maybe then she would have looked more closely at my diet.

This all being said I am realizing moderation is also the part of the key to my diet change. I admit because I gave up almost all processed food I was eating way too much chocolate and nuts telling myself I have lost weight and gave up all cookies, cakes, and breads that I can have more chocolate and nuts. Wrong!

Annie - You know I'm ex-military, and I hate those calls, too.

Allie - We do not blame you for Tracy's situation—and I never blame abused women who don't leave their abusers. The reasons aren't understandable by anyone outside that relationship. Only she knows why she stays. Tracy will find her way out of the relationship or she won't—but all you can be is a helping, non-judging place for her to turn. That really is it. I'm well aware that isn't easy on you. His saying he doesn't want you in the house alone is a very clear abuser's tactic to isolate her. Just keep reaching out. It's all you can do.

Well, I tried, but I walked outside and then just turned around and walked back in. So, I'm getting rugs washed and floors done inside. It needed doing… So, time to go run the vacuum in the living room and bedroom. Egg will not be pleased. She's under my desk, in the cool, but will cut and run as soon as that vacuum cleaner starts.

    Ah well.

Onward and upward! Which, by the way, ALWAYS reminds me of:

    Love,

I watched a video on a woman who substituted cashews for all her chips and other junk food. She ended up with a kidney function reading of 24. She did not get kidney stones but the oxalate from the cashews settled in her kidneys. She did not eat enough calcium to bind with the oxalate. Cashews are high in oxalate.

As I have made these diet changes in my life and I believe for the most part for the better I realize there is always more to learn and like M has said to do my research and be ready to change my mind and actions as I learn more.

This is what I think of as 'my Poirot building' on the way to St Anne's Well Gardens. I love the font of the sign. If you had a high floor apartment, you would see right over Hove to the sea.

Do any of you watch Poirot on TV? I much prefer the earlier one hour series.

    That building is very Poirot-esque.

Yes, I am currently watching the series with Suchet. The earlier episodes seemed more light-hearted and quirky. They are quite dark where I am now in the series, and the episodes are longer, as you mentioned.

I just love John and Max's relationship. So beautiful and good for both of them.

Just a quick check in before I go back into panic cleaning mode. When I asked Joe where this visitors will sit, Joe said “Now, don’t go all crazy.” He knows me so well. But it would help me to know which chairs I have to vacuum… ;} Joe set up the adult beverages and glasses and is done. ;} Here’s my Liz Taylor-visitors-coming-today-panic-cleaning to do list. X marks what I did yesterday. Will be lucky to get through #15 and prep snack plate before leaving to teach line dance newbies.

Heather thanks for the ok to just look.

Machka thanks for the suggestion to look and ask myself what’s holding me back. Also for the tight hip links. What you said about in order to do A, B must happen first. In order to do B, C must happen first. Oh yeah. Maybe . . .

Only through pg 17 but must leap up, break fast, prep snacks and knock off a few more from the list. But first…

Day 1 progress: ok Heather I’m standing up and filing or discarding all the papers on the keyboard. Thanks!

    Action for happiness

    Spoiler Warning

15- prep for Wednesday’s newbie class including printing out All About that Bass.

16-When panicking about Joe’s visitors coming, practice newbie dances.

    Later, lighter, lovelies

July focus: Just one thing from the OMG room. Really.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth

Bravo Barbara!!! So often we think we have to do the whole thing. No. Remember where that single step gets you.

Flea - if you read about it on Wikipedia, it tells you there was a change of director and producer and therefore a huge change of styles and cast. For the worse me thinks. Art Deco is my favourite period.

Rita I have some magnesium gylcinate on order from the supplement company I order from coming this Saturday. A friend recommend that type because it is better absorbed than some of the other types. My blood work stated my levels were okay for magnesium. I will ask my phosphorus levels be checked next time if I continue to have problems. I am starting to limit those foods like meat, dairy, and nutsI was over doing.

Again I will talk to my doctor why more wasn't said. The better informed I am the better I will be able to speak up for myself.
