I gained over 100lbs after the pandemic hit and felt a lot of shame around my weight. Last year when I hit 265lbs and started to struggle on the stairs to my apartment, I finally knew it was time to make a change. With a BMI of over 40, and a habit of 3,000-4,000 calories a day, it was a big adjustment for me. This was back in October, 2024. I got a gym membership and from there I started my journey. I was worried about the sustainability of my diet, but I am proud to say that with the help of a therapist and dietitian I have been able to consistently eat around 1,500 cals a day for the past 8 months. I haven't given up the foods I love, I've just learned to enjoy them in moderation. I could see myself eating with this health-conciousness and guilt-free attitude for the rest of my life.

My birthday was a couple days ago, and I've been thinking about how I looked and felt a year ago opposed to now. If you told me this time last year that I'd be below 200lbs, I don't think I'd believe you. But here I am, 194lbs, over 70lbs down. I went for a long walk/run today. My cholesterol levels are healthier than they've ever been, even prior to my weight gain. I feel confident. I feel free. This time next year, I think I will be at my goal weight. I am so proud that I have put in the work to become a better version of myself, and I hope I can continue to do so. I'm still young and I deserve a healthy body to grow old in.

Thank you if you have taken the time to read my ramblings. Sending lots of love and support to everyone on their journey to a healthier, happier life ❤️
