Summer Swim Challenge!

Hey everyone! I'm new to doing challenges but not new to MyFitnessPal. Sooo…. The challlenge, should you accept it, is to get out there and swim between July 16th-September 1st. You decide how much and how often.

My personal goal is to swim 60 laps a week at the YMCA pool near my house. And, for me, that means getting to the pool 2-3 times per week and swimming 20-30 laps each time. For some that may seem like a lot. For others it may seem like nothing. That's why I want you to decide how often you swim and for how long or how much.

For me, the biggest challenge is being seen by other people in a bathing suit, but I'm doing it because I love the water and I know it's good for me.

I am interested in this challenge. I started swimming at my local gym a month ago.
question: when you say “lap”. Do you mean one round trip end to end. Or just one “length” of the pool. I swim in a 25 meter pool and consider a lap one length of the pool.
i have been converting my laps to miles too.
I look forward to your reply. Thanks!

I just wanted to get the language correct in terms of laps.
sometimes it’s easier for me to say one “lap” is end to end (one back and forth returning to the start). Then I will convert that to meters, and miles.
I would like to participate in your challenge. Thanks!

One lap just means one length of the pool. So if you are going from the shallow end to the deep end and then back again, you've done 2 laps because you will have swum the length of the pool twice. I go the the YMCA and the pool there is a standard size of 25 meters long, so for me, a lap is 25 meters. But the pool where you swim could be 15 meters or 50 meters (I have no idea what type of pool you're swimming in) but one length of the pool would still count as one lap. Just for simplicity's sake. The point is to get us all moving and have some fun in the water while doing it. I'm so happy you and betseyjane are joining me.
