Edit quick add name

Options

is it possible to edit the name of a quick add? Now it just shows the calories.

A lot of the times when I scan a product the values are off, so I just want to add the calories quick but want to remember what I ate for late on.

You can enter it in My Foods with just the name and calories. Other than the extra step of doing it there instead of directly in the diary, that would give you the end result you want.

I don't work for MFP, I'm a regular user like you are with no power over the software, but I'd be surprised if MFP wanted to enable naming quick adds when there's another feature that pretty much does that same thing.

  • Hi @AnnPT77 what is the other feature? I have the same question. I saved info for a Starbucks “skinny mocha” and do a quick add whenever I get it.

No existing "extra feature" other than what was mentioned.

Apologies if the way I wrote it wasn't clear.

Where I wrote: "I'd be surprised if MFP wanted to enable naming quick adds when there's another feature that pretty much does that same thing" in my PP, pretend I wrote this instead:

"I'd be surprised if MFP wanted to enable naming quick adds when creating a custom food with just calories, then logging that, pretty much does that same thing".

FWIW, if I drank a Starbucks skinny mocha regularly and there wasn't an accurate entry for that already in the MFP food database, I'd add the Starbucks skinny mocha as a personal custom food with all the accurate nutrient info, then log it each time I drink that. If I mix and match different things in my Starbucks skinny thingie, I'd probably save the base drink and the common add ons all in a meal, then log the meal when I get one, and delete the add-ons I didn't add on that one time.

Personally, I almost never use quick add, even though I have premium and can specify the macros. I'd maybe quick add if I only had a thing once in my life and never expected to have it again? When I have quick-added in real life, it was more to ballpark in some calories for something like a potluck meal where I had no real idea of the nutrients/calories.

But that's just me. Not saying you need to do what I do. 🙂

  • @AnnPT77 thank you! I created Starbucks skinny mocha” and shared it as public. There’s no description field but it’s just nonfat milk and 2 pumps of mocha syrup instead of 4. That’s the only thing I used with quick add.
