Every Friday, my company has a "wellness" breakfast. Normally it's not a very nutritionally sound meal,
but today was a little crazy. I snapped a picture of our breakfast.

This will NOT be what it looks like when it's my turn!

Take a picture when it's your turn!!
Even though all of that looks yummy I see a crash in about an hour due to all the sugar and refined carbs!0 -
haha that's what my company breakfasts look like. I always pack something from home or leave something in the fridge even when I know they want to do something "breakfasty" the next morning. its definitely why so many people start to gain weight their first few years on the job. something about a plain bagel with some cream cheese slapped on & a glazed donut isnt very appetizing.0

What? No gravy? That's bull****.0

Can't have a wellness breakfast without pounds of bacon! WTH.0
-
Well..................0
-
oh there was bacon there, they just ate it all. that empty tray was full of white flour English muffin egg sandwiches with cheese and bacon on them too.0
-
I's hungry!0

holy cow that is a lot of carbs! Even if there was bacon and egg sandwiches, there are going to be a lot of sleepy workers in about an hour.0

My teeth hurt from looking at this0

Thant seriously hurt my stomach to look at.0

Just looking at that pic spiked my insulin level. Carbs anyone? lol0

I guess by "wellness" they just mean they're not skipping breakfast... which is a start.0

You know what would be good? A few different cereals. Yogurt cups, A bunch of berries to add to both. Also bacon. Just kiddin.0
-
Wow. Just...........wow.0

it's hard not to comment on stuff like that, but I don't want to offend anyone. I guess I'll let my own breakfast do my talking for me.0

 Everybody knows that gravy is the soul of wellness!0 -
Really, they call it a "wellness breakfast" and ppl bring stuff like that? Wow. That's just sad. :frown:0

lol, that's what our office looks like sometimes too...am not looking forward to the holidays...My workout partner & I both work here so when we know they are bringing in the crappy food we make our own high protein crustless quiches and stuff that tastes good, is nutritionally dense and leaves you satisfied....still sucks to have to be around it tho...0
-
Just think how much better everyone will feel when it's your turn to bring a tasty, healthy, nutritious breakfast. You will be the office hero!0

You are not going to make some folks happy with your wellness breakfast.....hahahaha.
Isn't it sad that people truly believe that is "wellness"....or do they really believe it is crap, but too lazy to take time to cut up fruit, etc.0 -

probably a little of both. I'll find out soon, I'll be hosting some "lunch and learns" on nutrition and health topics, and I'll let you know based on both attendance and on the quality of the questions offered at the end. Oh, that and what people bring in. I'll be requesting people bring in an example of their own "healthy" lunch. I'm afraid for that part.0 -

That sounds cool! I make a habit of slipping healthy alternatives into food I take to potlucks, etc. or that I serve when entertaining--whole wheat pasta or tortillas, ground turkey or super lean beef, even turnips or cauliflower core cubes in place of potatoes in soups, reduced-fat cheeses, etc. No one ever even notices. But if you *say* you're going to make something out of them, they turn up their noses and say they don't eat that stuff, tastes nasty. I love to see the look on their faces when I inform them they've been eating it and loving it for months! :bigsmile:0 -
A crockpot of scrambled eggs and ten pounds of crispy bacon and sausages ... with fruit salad on the side. Now that's an office breakast!0

What? No gravy? That's bull****.
 That is great.0 -
My company does that too...and we make healthcare products!0
-
YIKES! I can't imagine eating like that.0

hahahaha! Can I ask, I know it is called a wellness breakfast but is it actually intended to be healthy? The only reason I ask is that at dietitian team lunches, the food we bring in tends to be mostly cake haha despite the fact that our usual lunches are eerily similar and 'picutre perfect' healthy (wholegrain lean meat and salad sandwich, low fat yoghurt, piece of fruit in case you were curious haha - we don't usually have time to snack during the day).
On a side note, I don't actually like any of the foods in the pic (from a taste perspective, nothing to do with health) so I would be very disappointed!0
