Hi there,

I wasjust curious, I have added recipes to MFP before but just for small things. I am making a pot of Chili today and
I just wanted to make sure I am inputting the Ingredients the right way so that I get the correct calories when I eat some.

For example I use 1 Large can of Tomatoe Juice so am I suppose to add the Entire calorie contents in my Recipe on MFP since I am using the entire can? I did this for each Ingredient that I used so just making sure.

So after I input all Ingredients and i go to choose it for my meal it shows 1 serving, so what does 1 serving consist of? 1 cup, 1 bowl etc? I realize this may be a dumb ??? but just wanted to know.

Thanks

It's up to you to figure out how many servings you get out of your recipe. If you say the serving size is 1 cup, and the chili makes 8 cups, you have 8 servings total. MFP will then break down all the ingredients into eighths to give you the calories for just one serving...Does that help?

I put about 10 serving for my Chili since its just me and my hubby and this is a pot of chili so Im unsure of how to figure
out how many servings total. My hubby's a big eater so i just guessed at 10

Same here - my husband usually eats twice what I do! If he serves me, I eat half!

Maybe make a note in the "directions" section that your serving size is 1/10 of the recipe. That way if someone uses the recipe they can make the decision to help themselves to 1 serving or 1.5 serving or 6 servings depending on who they are and how they eat.
