Good Morning,
I probably didn't make neighbors happy yesterday morning, but did get grass cut around house before work. My "kayak" moment was weed trimming the edge of the drive and around the front trees last night. "Everything's has a cost". So true....I am working on that in my daily choices. Done list.…I actually like that idea. Somedays I have told customers that taking care of them is all I have accomplished.
Michele- i am happy you got to spend time with PJ.
I am doing okay. Head still hurts, but tolerable. Parked myself in kitchen at work yesterday with earpod in, so I could get work done. If I am at the counter..1) customers automatically come to me 2) M doesn't get a chance to ask for help. She is doing great and I need to let her 3) Sister in law won't come up front. I am not as fast on laptop compared to big screen, but made progress! Cancer is back for K our oldest mechanic. R needs to go…but I need a replacement. He has missed 7.3 weeks of work so far this year, his work is shoddy, he complains about not making enough but when you keep taking days off especially with overtime that adds up. SMH! We have two that think they should get paid more then would work harder.....The best of our team are M (Dana's grsnddaughter), D (my son in law), and me. We all not only want the same thing but take steps to get it done. I can only work within the parameters that the owners give me (though I often push that for the sake of the business).
Speaking of work.…i should get ready.
Done today
Read some of biok
Caught up with you
Refreshed hummingbird feeders
Watered plants
Made bed
Emptied dishwasher
Disposed of mole
May your day be productive!
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio

😀 Annie, I love to read just like you. I get my books from the library or papeback swap or ebay. I don't buy books new so that keeps the cost down. I am usually reading several books at the same time—an e book that I can read on my phone in the dark at night, a regular book that I read in the bathroom and at bedtime, and sometimes an audio book that I listen to while walking. As long as I can keep the stories straight, I know that my brain is still working. Additionally I watch several different series on TV in the afternoon while I ride my exercise bike. I'd get more chores done around the house if I didn't watch so much TV but I figure that as long as do an hour or so of useful stuff, the rest probably doesn't matter.
😀 Kylia, when we had our five acre farm in Northern California, Jake often mowed late in the day on his riding mower with the headlight. Our neighbour told him that it made her feel lazy watching him work so hard and so late.
😀 Lisa, when you told us about the website where you displayed and sold your beautiful creations, I looked at all of them and admired them. Sadly, none of them was something that I could use even as beautiful as they were. But while I was on the site, I looked for something I did need and finally found the placemats and napkins to replace my shabby ones that i bought in 1999 when I bought my big table. I connected with a lovely woman and now have sunflower placemats and napkins that are making my house happier.
😀 Michele, your visit with PJ sounds successful. Can you do that every few months? About the kitten, I would be sad, too.
😀 Cats, I had a chat with a friend about cats yesterday. Neither of us has a cat now, and we both miss having them. I had always imagined spending my twilight years with bunch of cats but as long as I have my dogs, there won't be any cats.
😀 Food, I have become a more picky eater the older I get. It makes meal planning very easy because there are so few choices and I have a great tolerance for repetition. I tried briefly to eat vegan or vegetarian but found that beans don't agree with my digestive system, I don't like enough different vegetables, and the challenge of getting enough protein was too much of a strain on my brain. Now I get my protein from Isagenix shakes, eggs, chicken, turkey, and cheese. I eat plenty of the vegetables I like. My snacks are prunes, pecans, and cherry tomatoes.
😀 Tomatoes The tomato plant is producing well. It is a good bending and stretching challenge to pick them In addition to having enough for myself, I was able to give a snack bag of tomatoes to each of several neighbours. Each snack bag holds about 20 tomatoes.
😀 Friend requests. My profile pic is a dog and a cat and I still get friend requests from a bunch of guys who all look alike. It's easy to decline them and move on. It's no different than deleting spam messages from me email.
😀 It will be warm today so watering will be at the top of my list after my walk.

Morning, kids…
Slept in late this morning! Always lovely, restful feeling. Yesterday was odd… but the upcoming week is my Skyrizi home injection, and I've learned that the week prior to that, if not two weeks, my body does some odd things. It will pass. I'll be talking to them in January about what the future holds, and am interested to find out what happens with Skyrizi once it has accomplished its miracles. No idea if it's a lifetime thing or if they'll take me off of it slowly or abruptly. Should be interesting.
Rebecca - Woke up thinking about you my friend. Hope you're doing OK. Didn't hear from you here yesterday.
Barbie - So pleased you could find the thing you wanted at GoImagine. I like the way they go about things, and unlike Etsy, they really are still all handmade items. Much like your determination not to add cats to a household with dogs, as long as we have Egg, there will be no dogs in the house. Corey protects her quite fiercely, and there won't even be another cat as long as she's here. I'm fine with it - she's an amazing addition to our lives, and as close to independent as any much-loved pet can be.
First day of 5th grade for Haley and Kindergarten for Levi:
Should get to see them next spring. Really looking forward to that. I've truly missed those little faces… My daughter had them for the whole summer for the first time in quite a while, so they really got to enjoy a Hawaiian summer this year. She didn't have to try to get them to Georgia to spend the summer with their bio-dad, as it was her turn to have them.
That's not what I call the man usually, but I'm trying to be good. 👀😂
Quiet Saturday in the offing for me. Sending Corey off to do the grocery shopping. No real plans, just don't feel like trundling around the stores.
Need to get a cup of coffee in to him and get his jeans out of the wash and on the line… Saturday morning chores nearly done!
Love y'all,

This past week … (my done list)
Walked 18 km
Climbed 123 flights of stairs
Cycled 16.5 km
Swam 1 hour over 2 eveningsWorked 5 days this week
Went in early on 2 days and worked a bit late on 2 days
In addition to my usual mountain of work, I also sat on an interview panel with the work involved in that (reading CVs etc. etc.)Evening activities:
- swimming 2 evenings
- sudden dash to pick up a new home office chair which I had ordered to be ready via "Click & Collect"
- bee zoomI've put the first coat of paint on the top of our second beehive. Hopefully I can do the second coat tomorrow.
I've finished reading a book that's part of the Goodreads challenges.
And I've done a few things around the house.
But on a lot of the evenings this week (after I got home), I didn't do much. I just didn't feel like it. So much going on at work.

I would say I am a "Flexitarian" from Machka's list. If I lived alone, it would be very easy for me to move to vegetarian! My protein goal from the kidney.org (website is around 58 grams. For the last week, I've only averaged 31 grams. I should probably up that. I can take collagen protein with no issues and will have to check for that. I have to be careful what I add as my digestive system is really tricky (with colitis and GERD getting worse). For people with stage 3a CKD, it is recommended 0.55-0.60 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day for non-diabetics. Around 0.8-.0.9 g/kg/day if you also have diabetes. So, for me .8*80.74=about 64.592 grams a day of protein. Seems like I really need to up my protein. On a search I go! I found this: 4-oz cooked chicken breast, 5 large egg, 1 cup of cottage cheese, or 1.5 cups of Greek Yogurt, tuna, and salmon too, 2 cups lentils and beans, 1 cup of edamame, tofu 3/4 cup. Some protein powders too at 20-30 grams of protein, there are others too. Of these, my favorite go-to is Greek Yogurt. No wonder I've been craving Greek Yogurt!
Must work in Pay booth today 10am-5pm with hour lunch. 1 more weekend, unless we are still busy. Probably Labor Day weekend and 1 week after that. The owner of the calf came home last night. I will ask her if I can go feed the calf off and on or are they weaning her now. Not much else going on today or tomorrow. Work in Visitor Center on Monday 10a-1p. I am curious if they are going to up my hours once the Pay Booth is closed. We shall see….
Thought for Today:
I became a vegetarian this weekend.
It was a big missed steak.

Lisa ~ Haley and Levi are so cute. Hope Haley has a good 5th grade year as that is the grade I taught for most of my teaching career!
Annie ~ Have you thought of buying your dad some protein shakes to replace some of the ice cream and cookies?
Michele ~ So glad you got to see your grandson! Sounds like he had a lot of fun with you.

Rita - In addition to reading that humongous protein recommendation for protein on that website, one post mentioned calcium intake. Greek yogurt comes out highly rated in the calcium department too.
Tracey - were you able to get the mechanic to check out your car?
Annie - love that you are such an avid reader - thanks for letting us know who some of your favorite authors are so I can put them on my list. Does your dad ever talk about driving anymore?
Michele - glad you got to see PJ. 😁
I'm not surprised someone took the canned items you put in the box for the soup kitchen at BK. Back when the "Free box" was still outside my dog groomer's, I'd always take a couple bags of shelf stable items from my pantry to set beside it when Rosie went for a clip every few months. The bags disappeared fast. Once I was putting the bags of food out while a gal was going through the clothing box. She saw the grocery items and asked if she could have them. I said sure. She said she recently gained custody of her 3 grandchildren - 2 were teenage boys - and was scrambling to keep them fed and clothed. 😥 Her daughter was in jail and she didn't say where their dad was.
Early morning shopping trip done, and back before sunrise. 😁 I'm going through my closet today and putting away summer things and will pull out a few more items for the Goodwill.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Regarding meat - For me, no steaks, chops or roasts of beef or pork. Chicken is OK. Beans cause too much stomach upset, so they're a very seldom thing, as well. I hate most vegetables, unfortunately, they all taste like green, bitter dirt to me.
Honestly, I'm a cheese-a-tarian if anything. It's my main source of protein from day to day, and my calcium levels have never suffered. It has its own hazards, of course, but I do OK with it most of the time, and because my other protein sources are fairly limited, my cholesterol hasn't been impacted. Corey and I have both been having trouble digesting eggs of late, so they're off the menu as a main meal protein, but I can use them in baked items, no problem. Shrimp is great grilled or boiled, but cooking fish makes us both a little gaggy.
My happiest meal, much as I hate to say it, is two pieces of light string cheese and eight or ten saltines. I'm happy, I've got protein, it never makes me gag, and I can just go on about my business. If I did not have my husband to consider, I'd skip meat other than ground beef, chicken and shrimp.
So… my lazy morning turned into painting the back bedroom, along with Corey, with the first prime coat. Even with one more coat left to paint, it's already looking better:
We weren't sure that blue and yellow paint job was ever going to cover, so I was pleased that the prime coat did this well. That second coat tomorrow should make it look completely new.
Corey's taking next weekend as a four-day. They don't actually take Labor Day as a holiday at his company, but he wants to get to an eye doctor and get his eyes checked, and he wants to finish the floor in this room.
I did call it "done enough" on my feather painting yesterday.
Don't worry about being nice about it - for at least the first few weeks after a painting is done I hate it, and it takes all I can do to not just cover it over completely with white paint or black paint and begin again.
In other words, I'm just trying to ignore it until I can look it with some objectivity.
I'm not sure "self-torture" was in the job description for "tortured artist," but it should have been. Nobody else tortures me about it, even my long-suffering husband.
Once we got cleaned up from painting, we sat down and snagged some lunch, and then I sent Corey off to get a few things for his lunches and whatever beer he wants to drink this week.
Barbie reminded me that I need to get a couple things posted up to GoImagine, so I'm going to toodle off and do that.
Later, my chickens…

Afternoon this morning I just felt horrible so slept most of the day..I have a feeling the trazidone and the cinacalcet are the culprit. The dose im taking of the cinacalcet gives you nausea and i must say the trazidone is helping me sleep better.

Hi,
I just thought to myself that I really needed some "real" books to read ......my lovely son in law brought a bunch to work for us to take if wanted. I got these:
I only recognize a couple of authors, but free was timely!
At a Whitetails banquet with DH. It is time to go home....at least he is on his best behavior!
Meat- I am mainly chicken and venison. Limited beef. No pork or turkey. Love steamed shrimp, crab, and lobster. Fish is picky. I don't know how to cook it and I don't eat it fried. I am content to have a few vegetarian meals a week. DH prefers meat and potatoes but doesn't mind breakfast for dinner.
More later,
Lots of love,

Happy Saturday Friends.
Lisa: Love Levi flashing his Hawaiian "shaka".
Annie: Hope you are taking care of yourself. (((hugs)))
Machka: Thank you for the "atarian" definitions. I eat everything except lima beans and gin. Moderate dairy due to lactose intolerance.
Michele: So glad you got to see PJ. I'm afraid I would be a total foster failure, too.
Allie: Sorry about your neighbor.
Rebecca: Please give your sister a virtual hug for me. RIP Tucker.
Heather: I'm thinking of your friend G and hope she has help with her recovery.
Kylia: What a lovely windfall of books.
I am currently riddled with stupid little injuries. Have (what I am diagnosing as) a sprained knee. Slight swelling on outside and back of the knee. Has been hurting all of August, and needs rest to fully heal. So, no real exercise for me till it's back to 100%. Then I have a little bump and bruise on the inside of my wrist. No idea how I got this, but it was completely painless for 2 weeks and only yesterday started to give off a sharp pain if I tried pushing with that hand. Grrrrrrr! This is bad timing as I am leaving on Monday for a GF trip to Palisade, Colorado, the town best known for it's amazing peaches and wineries. We have plans to hit hot springs, scenic drives, a popular hike and other sight seeing. It's just for 3 days, but I don't want to be dealing with aches or keeping the girls back.
When N and I were in the Poconos, my late friend's widower begged me to take what was left of her clothes and jewelry. He has donated and sold alot already but he held back many items just for me. I accepted about a third of what was available. It all went into a large box and shipped to my door. It arrived on Friday and I am purging older items to make room for these additions. There are two pieces of clothing which I clearly remember her wearing: a peacock t-shirt and a gray fleece vest which has an image of her poodle Scarlett embroidered on it. She had a razor wit and loved to make people laugh, and wearing her stuff just makes me smile.
Stay well friends. May your journey towards becoming stronger, smarter and better bring you everything you aspire to be.

Worked then went to WalMart for the turkey breast. I know I got it at one store but it’s such a common item, I figured they’d carry it. Nope! So I had to go to the other WalMart.
Church tonight so I might ask Jess to check on the turkey breast to be sure it’s at temperature and doesn’t bake too long so it doesn’t dry out. Update: came home from church and she was making a salad and the gravy.
Update on the bowling: seems the guy who was on Vince’s team last year has someone in his family who wants to bowl so it looks like Vince and me will be on the same team. Heaven help me!!! .lol
barbie– how I wish we could see PJ every few months! Alas, with school, he’ll be gone all day. The prices of the hotel on the weekends are astronomical. So it looks like one day in April when he has Spring Break and one day in August before school starts. About the kitten –at least I know that it’s at a rescue and won’t be put the death. And he’s so sweet and friendly, that I’m sure he’ll be adopted real soon (if he isn’t already)
Lisa– I thought you always referred to your SIL as “sperm donor”
One of the things I (believe it or not) miss is going shopping once/week and getting everything. Now I find that I need to go almost everyday. Ah well...this won’t last forever
Lanette– this isn’t a “free box”. There is an increase in guests during the summer at the soup kitchen (I’m thinking that part of that is because now children are coming and not in school), donations are down, and they’re gearing up for the backpack program so they ask for canned goods and snacks. The backpack program gives kids a lunch for the weekend. Well...like I said, the person who took them probably really needed them. Why they didn’t go to the soup kitchen and get them and other things is beyond me. I guess some people feel awkward going to a soup kitchen.
Going to put the turkey in the oven then probably take Ganon for a walk. Update: he didn't want to go and I absolutely refuse to drag him. I pulled and his collar came off so I'm not going to do that. He came to the back door so I went for the walk by myself.
Meat: I’m not a fan of red meat. Give me chicken, pork, fish (oh, yes). I won’t say that I don’t eat red meat, but I certainly would prefer not to. It’s probably been about 10 years since I’ve had a hamburger. So many red meats are high in fat and when I have them, my stomach says “I don’t think so…”
Allie– I’m so sorry about your friend.

Our story:
11 -
Beth - That’s another reason I don’t want a payment, the insurance goes through the roof. My DH’s insurance is $2600 a year mine is $500 neither of us can do anything like courses to lower our costs because we have perfect driving records. He takes courses at work every year and we tried submitting them but it did nothing.
I changed my profile pic the other day too, I think I’ve only had two friend requests since then.
Debbie - I hope you have a nice visit with your Mom.
Machka - sometimes I want to run to the woods too. I think it’s one reason I’m so homesick. I’m just looking for peace.
Happy Anniversary! My mechanic responded last evening. He is going to look at the car on Monday free of charge.
I’m anxious to hear what he has to say. Yesterday the car worked fine.Lisa - I’ll have to look at GoImagine, sorry I haven’t yet. I don’t shop on Etsy often, very made enough connections at markets to find most of what I’m looking for, but the odd time I do go on there there are so many Temu type things and ads I give up.
I like the feathers.Annie - the dietitians I have worked with in the homes are of the opinion that the residents have reached the age where they get to have what they want. We provide nutritious meals and 2 choices for every meal, but if they only want the dessert or stuff their family’s bring in we don’t argue.
I’ve threatened my whole family I will come back and haunt them if they try to give me healthy when I want junk if I’m ever in a home. I hope I never get there though.
Lanette - I would normally be putting away summer stuff next weekend, but we’re supposed to have a hot couple weeks coming up. We are looking forward to it, it was a wet cold summer more often than hot this year.
Kylia - that’s a nice stack of books. I’ve been using the little free library we have at work. A lot of families, neighbours and workers are using it. We have three library areas inside for the residents.
It’s a good way of trying new authors.I am the meat and potatoes person in our house, Rodger would rather burgers, nachos, pasta, pizza, we do breakfast often for supper in the winter, not so much in the summer because I cook my bacon in the oven.
I’ll catch up with my last few days tomorrow.
Tracey in Edmonton4 -
Rori - How annoying those small injuries are. And you don't get any sympathy, unlike a plaster on your arm! You could try a knee brace just for the holiday. I haven't tried one, but, as a knee sufferer, I've thought about it. Amazon have them. You have to measure yourself. Short term is fine, I think. Have a great time! 🤩
Lisa - Wow, that 'feathering' is very accomplished. How did you get the effect? GORGEOUS grandkids. 😍
I eat everything, and thoroughly enjoy every mouthful. I don't count calories, or micros, or macros, or steps or anything involving numbers, and I don't weigh myself. I eat beautiful, healthy food that gives me joy, every day.
I'm off after breakfast for a walk to the sea.

What a wonderful walk! Glorious morning. I decided I wanted to prove that I could walk down and back to where the girls will be doing their triathlon next Sunday. That's just over three miles in all. It's where I used to turn around in the days when I was doing my 5k jogs. It was a but uncomfortable, but I got there pretty well, and stopped for a long coffee at the café there. Setting off home, I had to call in at the toilets, and then realised I was cutting it fine for getting John's panama hat back to him before he set off for cricket! I also had to buy milk and yoghurt. So, I picked up the pace! V pleased with self for making it home in good time. Discomfort, yes, but not pain. 😃
So,now I know I can make it next week!

I just love these apartment blocks on the seafront. Haven't been past them for nearly two years!
Pity about the awful high rise behind.
I'm going to buy my own panama hat for our cruise. Hope it doesn't blow away in the Canarian winds!
Looking forward to my funny lunch.

Sunday — 17th Anniversary
I put a second coat of paint on the top of the beehive.
If all goes well, we'll get a swarm this spring and have two hives of bees.
Then we went into Richmond, a very popular historical town in Tasmania … not too far from where we live. We treated ourselves to ice cream and fudge. 😋
And when we got home, I went for a 25 km bicycle ride. 🚴♀️ My longest ride in a couple months. Spring is coming!!
We have just about finished setting my home office so I can work in there. Last week, we purchased an office chair which I'm hoping will be comfortable for 8+ hours a day. Today my husband ran the network cable so I can connect. And I've got enough space to work. We'll see what happens tomorrow when I work from home.
The other half of the home office is a stack of boxes and bags filled with stuff from when we moved. My goal is to go through at least one bag or box and do something with the stuff … put away where it goes, put into my category bins, or get rid of it.
Category bins? I've got 3 large bins and have designated a category to each - "technology", "art stuff", and "stuff to be filed". I find it easier to organise related items, so Step 1 is to make bins/piles of related items.
Food — because of my badly deviated septum (which I likely had my whole life and was only discovered in my 50s), I have a limited sense of smell and have had forever. Fortunately, it was surgically corrected in 2020, and a tiny bit of my sense of smell has returned but most is still missing. Most likely my brain doesn't know what to do with smells because it hasn't been trained.
However, interestingly, I have always been able to smell bad smells. I can walk into the fruit section of a grocery store and know that something in the place has gone mouldy, and in very short order, I can usually identify what it is just by walking up and down a few aisles. I buy mesh bags of mandarins but instead of trying to see if there's one mandarin in the bag that might be going off, I just give the bag a quick sniff and I can tell.
All this means that I eat by texture (don't like gristly or slimy food) or taste (not smell - just taste: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, umami). I don't crave much, but when I do, it's usually something salty or something sweet … just about anything in those categories will do. I think of chocolate as "bitter sweet" … a dark chocolate might be more bitter whereas a milk chocolate might be more sweet. Other foods fall into similar categories … salted cucumbers are "bitter salt", mandarin oranges are "sweet sour".
And it turns out I don't like most umami foods (meat, seafood, mushrooms, green tea … even all variations of tomato except fresh tomatoes).
Add to all that the fact that I have bad reactions to several foods. 🙄
The result is, I have a rather limited collection of food I like. So, because food in general has never been overly enjoyable, I tend to eat for fuel … because I have to eat … because I feel hungry.

Another take on the grandparent issue. One of the reasons France does not have such a high rate of grandparent care, is that it has very heavily subsidised childcare.

Heather- Great job! I love that for you.
Machka- Happy Anniversary to you and Rowan. I too organize better from categories.
Had fun last night, but too late! Only "won" one item, but high bidder on a couple more. All for a good cause, just dragging as it was midnight to bed. Was awaken early by cat paw on eye from headboard. Ouch! Luckily the lightweight one.
DH wants to head to car show. I should get a few things done.…
Day 4. I am getting better at not stockpiling magazines and papers to be read....a few months ago I tossed 3 yrs worth of papers and magazines. If I haven't read when next one arrives, then I don't need it. Readers digest and guidepost are the exceptions. I read as can, then pass to friends.
Chores calling..
Heathly thoughts!
Good choices!
Hugs for all!

Morning, guys - Up early-ish,
Machka - Happy anniversary a bit late! Sounds like it was a pretty good day all the way around… Thanks for the comment on the feathers - the white one was the hardest to get the look I wanted to! The other feathers have similar layering, but are impossible to see with my phone camera, no matter the light. The human sight still is better than mechanical lenses for shade and shadow.
Heather - Actually, the feathering was done with large, cheap, stiff brushes. Just a few dollars for a set of three at the art store. You just drag a small amount of paint up in the direction you want the feathers to run, with the brush very dry, and flick the edges upward. The usual art brushes are meant to carry a lot of paint, and that doesn't work for this.
The illusion Machka's talking about required four steps on four different days - first the sepia background, then the white paint, then gray to create the shadows, then a layer of the pearlescent paint in the same base color, which blurs the edges, making it look a bit three-dimensional.
The whole painting seems to glow in the sunshine, but like I said, it's hard to capture in a camera. It can be done more quickly. I've seen the instructors use hair dryer to get the paint dry in between layers. I'm too lazy for that!
More in a minute - need to get my meds taken and make some coffee for Corey, who's just woke up.
Love,
Lisa in AR2 -
My mother's sense of smell, and therefore her ability to taste well, went at about 80 years old. I'm hoping mine doesn't go the same way! John's is still OK.
G is doing better, with carers coming in every morning. She is getting out and sounds more cheerful. Phew!

😀 Heather, congrats on your successful walk. That was a interesting article about grandparent child care.
😀 Kylia, that's a great stack of books. I have read books by two of those authors but not the books in your stack,
😀 Michele, I'd like to think that all the people who get food from soup kitchens and food banks really need it, but recently I talked to a woman in my neighbourhood who told me that she and her daughter and son in law go every week to the food bank, yet they also go on cruises and expensive vacations. It was with the greatest exertion of will that I didn't tell her what I thought of that practice.
😀 Rori, those small injuries can add up. You're like me in not wanting to curtail exercise.
😀 Books, I am very fussy about what I read. I especially like reading a series of books with the same characters. I like to try books recommended by friends but I have genres that I especially like and tend to choose those. One important secret of adulthood for me is to discard a book if I don't like it. I don't have to finish it just because I started it. My library posts a list of books they've ordered and when I see the newest one by an author I like, I place a hold so I'll get it when it comes out. Sometimes I wait months but I'm happy to get the book when it's my turn.
😀 TV. I have been watching "Escape to the Country" where people are looking for homes in the countryside in the UK. The houses look like the ones in "Midsomer Murders" and have lots of character. They look wonderful until I realize that my ideal house is on one level with big rooms, at least two bathrooms, and whole house heating and air-conditioning.
😀 Time to get busy. May you all have a day with things that make you happy and let you feel useful.

TV — I have been watching "Escape to the Country" where people are looking for homes in the countryside in the UK. The houses look like the ones in "Midsomer Murders" and have lots of character. They look wonderful until I realize that my ideal house is on one level with big rooms, at least two bathrooms, and whole house heating and air-conditioning.
Escape to the Country is our usual Friday evening viewing … unless there's a cycling event on.
It's also a filler occasionally at other times if there's an hour between other programs we might want to watch.
Books — In the past couple years, I've been doing the challenges on Goodreads. Unfortunately, finding the book choices in their challenges can be problematic way down here next door to the Antarctic. But between my local library and Libby, I have been able to find one or two books out of the 75-ish they post in each challenge. Those one or two are rarely my first choices (rarely in my top 10), but I have enjoyed several of them. Occasionally, when I can find several books in a challenge or can find my first or second choices out the 75-ish options, I have found authors I've enjoyed and I've gone on to read more of their books. It's been interesting!
