Pip – absolutely stunning view. I almost always use a gentle leader. Really, the only time I don’t is when I just take him out for a pee break and we’re right back in the house. Now, Jess feeds him before we go on our walk so that it stimulates him to poop. The leash I use is shorter than the others that she has which are the retractable ones. Oh, she does have one other that I’ve probably only used once to just take him for a pee break. It just goes around the neck, doesn’t even have a clip to fasten to the collar. Personally, I don’t like this one. I’ve only used it once, and that’s enough for me. Now that she’s here, I only feed him in the morning on Sundays before I exercise. Guess I could give him leftovers (a leftover hot dog, whatever we have that isn’t real spicy, whatever I want to get rid of). Thanks for the suggestions. After a while wonder if he'll always want a treat?
Rori – I can’t think of anyone I know that would want to go on atrip. The only person I can think who might be interested is Jess, and we’d have such different wants (to do). I’ll have to keep thinking. I just wanted to reach out and bite into one of those peaches, they looked so good
Barbie – thanks for everything

We are planning our 45th in Oct. Hard to believe we have been out of high school that many years. Most of the time I don't even feel 45.

Almost 10pm and the service tech never did call after dh called this morning when the fridge went out completely. The freezer part went out two weeks ago. They came out, ordered the part, said it would be here in 5 days. Dh called to see when they would be putting it in, never heard back. He assured dh that the fridge part would be fine even with the freezer not working- Now the whole thing isn't working, barely cool, all the food was cool to luke warm when dh noticed it right after I got to church.
We will be gone all day tomorrow to do a show. Thinking we may just get a new fridge-then fight to get our money back from the company- he paid half of what it will cost for a new fridge.
He is actually handling it so much better than I expected- still mad but not yelling cussing, etc like he usually does.Heading to Turlock,CA at 6am. 2 hr drive each way, maybe more, depending on holiday traffic coming home tomorrow night-for a 5 hr show. Hope we do well. First time with this promoter. It is called Ohana Con.
Car is packed, snacks are packed. Going to watch Big Brother then go to bed.
Was up early so hope to get a bit more sleep tonightDebbie

Hi ladies! Good early morning.
Thanks, Barbie, for the start of September. I love the fall and look forward to seeing what September has in store.
I'm listed on Facebook as Monique McMillon, and I would like to know everyone's full names so I can send friend requests. This little self-staycation has taught me that I'm really a homebody. I also love traveling, but I need a staycation afterward to feel truly rested.
I can't believe it is September. Tomorrow will be DS's birthday. I remember the C-section. I was out, but I woke up feeling the Pain of them cutting me open, so I yelled, "Pain! Pain! Pain!" Not enough anesthesia. Then I was taken into a dark room after visiting my baby in the NICU. There was this extremely pale nurse with a black wrap on her head. When I saw her, I thought I was dead. So I asked her if I was, and she said no. I asked her where I was, and she told me it was the ICU. That was all I remembered. The next night, I was in a regular room, and my husband was leaving to stay with our dog Rusty. I told him to come back afterward. I woke up having to go to the bathroom, but was in Pain and having a fever. So I called DH, and he remained asleep. So I threw my planner at him. Then he was able to assist me in getting out of bed. The nurse gave me Tylenol for Pain. So, when the doctor stepped in and saw me in Pain, he was furious that I got only Tylenol. He told them my rectus muscle was cut and to get me something more substantial. Oh, I also remember hearing the doctor who was stitching me up after my C-section say my uterus was so big that she didn't know where to put it. I woke up and told her to put it where it belongs. One week later, I was still in the hospital, and I watched the planes hit the Twin Towers, and then I was discharged, but my baby had to stay in the NICU, because he turned blue. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 24 years since 9/11.
Pip, enjoy your time! You deserve it!
Debbie, wishing you a great show today.
Rori, you go to the best places.
Heather, I love Edie's spirit.
Well, I'd better close now. Talk to you all in the daytime.
XO,

Barbie ~ Love your sunflower.
Rori ~ So glad your adventurous spirit allows you to travel with your lady friends and N. Beautiful photos of your weekend with the ladies.
Pip ~ What a gorgeous view from your balcony. So glad you were able to get moved to the right room.
MO ~ I looked on Facebook but there was no place to make a friend request. Your ordeal giving birth was scary.
Husband was in the hospital overnight on Saturday to be observed for a possible lung infection or abnormality. Thankfullly, they let him out yesterday. Will need to have another echocardiogram as soon as possible as his heart function is very low.

😀❤️ Carol, how scary for your husband and you. Hope the doctors find out what's going on and how to improve things for him.
😀 Until I was in my 30's I shared rooms with other women until I traveled with a friend who told me that she'd love to go on the trip I planned, but she never shared a room. I got my own room and loved it so I never shared a room again until I got married. If I travel again, I won't be sharing a room.
😀 Pip, looks like you're going on another great trip.
😀 Rori, your trip looks like fun.
😀 Debbie, good luck with your refrigerator.
😀 Son called yesterday to tell me that he and long time lady friend had gotten married. They came for a visit last summer and again right after Jake died. They met originally in grade school and they reconnected a few years ago after her husband died. They are good together. They plan to visit me for a few days at the end of the month and will stay in an Air Bnb

My guests were kind enough not to use the towelling robes I set out for them and only used one large towel between them. I'm washing their bits now, including the linen napkins. The cleaner is here.

Barbie - Thank you for shepherding us into September. Like Mo, I look forward to what it brings.
Hoo! Egg's being a Kling-on again. She will eventually subside, and there, she just did.
Corey's on his third cup of coffee, no idea what, if anything, he wants to accomplish today. I spent an hour or so frogging a massive cardigan yesterday. It was of a much bulkier yarn than I usually work with, and it just didn't work at all in my usual pattern, ended up being kinda awful.
So, I spent an hour or so deconstructing it ("frogging" comes from the sound yarn makes as you pull it out of a piece you've made - rip-it, rip-it 😲😂👀) and taking it back to yarn again, which is one of the things I love about both knitting and crochet. Crafty and thrifty stuff:
If you don't like what you've just created, you can just take it back to yarn and use a different direction. It was about $30 to buy the yarn, well worth rewinding and saving it for another purpose.
The thriftier thrifties are doing that with sweaters they pick up at Goodwill, Savers, etc. You can tell whether it's froggable by looking at the inside seams. If it's got serged (sewing thread stitched) edges, you can't disassemble it, as the ends have been cut.
But, if it's kind of curled over at the seams and just looks like a chain stitch was used to put it together, you can actually pull the yarn apart, rewind it and reuse it with a small amount of effort. And probably save a lot on the yarn, according to what the garment's made of .
There: #UselessThingsYouLearnOnline
So, I've stashed the re-wound yarn for the moment, and I think I'm going to try creating a rug or two with it for the newly remodeled spare bedroom. Used some of my reward points to order some rug canvas from Amazon, and will add back an old favorite to my crafting - tufting rugs. Should be fun. OK, my version of fun. If I enjoy it, I'll add it to the rotation. I can almost always pick up yarn at the thrift store for significantly less than I can find it in Hobby Lobby or Walmart. Not necessarily colors or textures I want next to my skin, but could definitely be used for rugs.
Went back to August and read the posts, so am answering a few of those.
Rori - Looks like a fun trip. We're getting a lot of beautiful peaches in the grocery stores, here, it's apparently a good year for them!
Heather - So glad you enjoyed the time with the family. Bea is sprouting so fast, she'll be catching up to Edie soon! My mother was our magnet as a family, and I'm glad your family has you to gather around, whether at your house or your son's.
Allie - Thinking about you, sending hugs.
Mo - Rose looks beautiful.
That's it for me - time to get my Monday chores done around my husband's presence. Always a little weird.
Love y'all!

Thank you Barbie and Happy September, ladies!
Barbie - love your sunflower. I've never tried to grow them here but might give it a go next year. I plan to fence off an area where the girls won't scratch and peck. I was surprised a plant I didn't recognized sprouted up by the chicken coop this summer. I let it bloom - a goldenrod! I've not seem them around here before. I'll save the seeds and scatter them under the powerline.
Rori - what a great getaway. 😍 Love the photos and it's so nice to have good friends to enjoy time with like this.
Carol - praying they find the cause of your DH's heart problem and it's an easy fix. He has been through so much in the past year and I remember the vast amount of pills he was required to take. And probably still is taking.
Lisa - I love seeing photos of Egg, and hearing about her antics. Our favorite cat was a gray one identical to her - except he had extra toes. He just showed up at the farm one day as a teeny kitten. After I sold most of my spinning equipment, I did keep my yarn winder since my yarn was mostly in skeins that were hard to pull from.
Mo - Rose looks so cute with her ear decorations. She is such good company for you. Dogs do keep us active, don't they? What an ordeal during your son's birth.
Debbie - sorry to hear about your fridge. We once had one - an Amana no less - and the bottom freezer stopped working. It was still under warranty so the repairman came out and fixed it. Well, about a month after the warranty was up - we didn't renew - it went out again. This time I went to Sears and bought the cheapest, simplest one they had on the floor and had the Amana hauled out. No warranty purchased this time. So after three years, the light in the fridge part decided to work intermittently. But it still keeps things cool/cold so I'm counting my blessings. I want my old avocado colored Frigidaire back. 😁
Time to peel apples and start the applesauce. Back later.

Barbie, thanks as always for the fresh start, and thanks again for recommending Burkeman’s Meditations for Mortals. Changed my "to do" list to a "done" list, made me think about daily ish, and put the energy into doing rather than tallying… ;) Your “Thanks… we should do it again.” Made me laugh out loud!
Carol love the “I want to be like a sunflower…” meme. ((hugs)) for your DH’s overnight hospitalization and low heart function. Prayer said.
Machka That picture of the tense cat due minor commitment later? Perfect! And yes you also recommended Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderes, thanks! Sure hope it turns into a series. Wish debit cards in the US had the same protections as credit cards, but alas they do not. Con VERY gratulationis on the scary room progress. And Belated Best Birthday wishes to Rowan on his milestone birthday!
Lanette (and Barbie) Thanks for recommending the Thursday Murder Club. Don’t get Netflix but checked the first book out from library. I might have read it before, but enjoying it and looking forward to the rest of the series. Fairy laid an egg? Bravissima! Are you sure you want to spread the Goldenrod around? Don’t you have allergies?
Rosemarie congrats for getting back to yoga!
Kyla (and Machka) Tuesday I get a permanent crown on the tooth I cracked. Think it will be my 4th or 5th. ;{ Couldn’t imagine two at once, but then recently got two implants at once and it was no picnic.
Lisa that hitch is way batter. Was able to drive 45 mins to church, sit all the way through the sermon and drive back. Then had to stretch out on bed for the rest of the day, but still… progress ;} Your and Corey’s home improvements are awe inspiring. Unimaginable for Joe and me.
Rebecca, belated best birthday wishes to your Chief! I’m with you on balancing to the penny. Don’t think Joe has ever had his own checking account so cannot imagine how he’d handle it. He just withdraws from his savings account as needed and believes the bank’s balance. Ugghhh.
Debbie sorry to hear about the fridge and losing all that food. ((hugs)) Thankful your DH didn’t yell and cuss, that is REAL progress.
Pip WOW what a view. Loved your suggestions about how to get Ganon to walk.
Michele really sorry to hear that taking 2 Aleve didn’t completely eliminate your hip pain.
I’ve been lucky with the sciatica, at its worst, 2 x 200mg ibuprofen helped me sleep.
I wouldn’t use the noose style leash either. Maybe Jess could feed Ganon just half then you could use the rest of the kibble for a treat to lure him out?Rori thanks for those glorious pics and for sharing your road trip with us!
Heather 4 miles walking AND overnight guests? WOW! I could share a room with a galfriend, but a bed… nope!
Okie what’s the date of your bday?
Mo I’ll PM you my full name for FB. What a horrific C-section experience. ((hugs))
Joyce, Evelyn good to see you both popping in!
August summary averages vs July:
WT: 131.2 131.2 same – surprising as couldn’t move much
Steps: 5170 7569 less but not as bad as I feared.
AF days: 61 pct 77 pct could be better.
August plan went all to heck due sciatica last half of the month. Try again September.September Action plan for stronger, tidier, kinder:):
Stronger: Dailyish PS2S & 10 mins BB&B/PT, MW line dancing, TuTh Chair Yoga, F SWSY, Sa Dog group or long stroll. Make it to Tu pm line dancing until standard time.
Tidier: Look around for one tiny thing can be done in 5 mins or less.
Kinder: open heart and mind before mouth, check action for happiness calendar. No line dancing today due holiday, time to break fast, take dogs down to the powerline meadow or maybe even the cistern valley.
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
September focus tidier: 5 minutes look for something that can be done in 5 mins or less… and just do it.
2025: Chose NOW: to move more than yesterday (see action plan), fuel better than yesterday (hold that after dinner sweet down to two pieces of dark chocolate max), open heart and mind before mouth9 -
Thanks so much for starting off September right, Miss Barbie! ❤️
Oh gosh Pip! You're almost looking at where Lacy and Nick got married two years ago!!! We were at Paris, right across the street! We had breakfast every morning, watching the fountains of the Bellagio and one night we were Blessed to have THE best seats right across from the fountains at the outdoor patio for dinner.
Those painted barrels are amazing, Rori! Of course, I'm sure the wine didn't hurt either. lol. You looked like you were relaxing just fine.
Went back to work for two days last week and starting my real LAST school year tomorrow. Yup... 177 days, June 10, 2026 and this girl will be done! Wow. Who'da'thunk? They've got me in a temporary office because our district office is being renovated. (because we have so much money to burn 🙄 ... yeah, whatever) I wish they'd just leave me here because I love the people here. I've known a bunch of them for years and they're so friendly. It's a small group and why move me again? But who knows. I go where I'm told. I'm just hoping it's a relatively easy year with only minor hassles. I know it's going to go fast because it already feels like a sprint. Hope I'm ready. Wish me luck!
Love and Blessings

Barbara - I didn't seem to have any reaction to being around the goldenrod, but I was already stuffed up, lol. I got some allergy drops from Dr. Matt last year I'll start using again. By the way, I started having 1 or 2 pieces of Ghirardelli 72% chocolate every evening for my dessert. I've actually been able to keep it down to that minimal amount most days. A miracle.
Barbie - congrats to your son on his recent marriage. Your daughter sounds like the perfect guest, I could go for that. She's a counselor, right? She's a smart cookie and understands how to keep family relations peaceful.😉
Heather - when do you depart for your cruise? Very excited for you and your DH!
Michele - you and Vince are doing much better at having J & C living with you than I would be, especially with H and dad showing up like that. I get nervous just thinking about it. I remember reading that it's nearly impossible for 2 grown women to share a kitchen so my hat is off to you for making it work and using tweaks when needed. Did you say J & C are living with you so they can save up $$ to buy a house?
My weight is finally, finally trending back down s l o w l y after a crazy gain and high this summer in the midst of my back pain adventure. Living by myself and not needing to food shop and cook for family members has been a plus. Not sure I could do it otherwise right now.

Lanette in SW WA State - Weight s l o w l y trending back down a couple pounds from high a month ago. I think the key for me has been faithfully logging each day. Average daily steps this past week: 8070, due working more outside. Still getting a 15 minute sunrise walk on my private road most days and carrying weights for 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day walking after meals. SWSY continues to go well 3X per week- I’ve noticed my balance has improved a lot. Very grateful.

My husband is prone to making some interesting creative math entries! I'm like how did you take this number, subtract that number to get THIS?? His excuse is that it was the calculators fault, or that he only does it to "give me something to do"!

Hello ladies!
Today I ate a wonderful egg salad 1/2 sandwich. I have learned to mix the kewpie mayo, salt (nosalt) & pepper, plus a bit of paprika with the yolk, then chop the white fine. I also blend the whites with a fork to really mince it up. It makes it so creamy. I only had one slice of my Hero bread, all pillowy soft. It was excellent!
Tonight is the rest of "Annie's Super Mac" protein pasta, with a "Applegate Naturals" chicken tender. I will have a sugar free black cherry Jello cup. Also a Fairlife Core Elite protein drink.
I will be consuming 88 oz of liquid. Its nice to see my body "working" well to process everything. Just great.
Still haven't started my 2.5 mg dose of Zepbound. With the holiday, plus the fact the clinic had a picnic on Friday and they were closed didn't help matters. I will try to get the new prescription this week and start on Thursday. Its only a week delay.
I looked at my goals on my fitness pal last July and I had it set to 1400 a day, plus my percentages were different. I changed them to what they were back then, (can't recall specifically right now). Hopefully that will get me to my beginning mindset. Its going to be a good reset. I am hopeful!
My goals for Sept!
- attend gym with husband at least 2 days a week.
- Be mindful of how I am processing my proteins. Take my stool softener religiously.
- Drink at least 80 oz of liquids a day. Limit my protein drinks.

Carol … I like the sunflower meme!
Barbie … thanks for the September thread!
Have to weigh myself tomorrow, but I think I stayed the same. My son, however, has dropped 35 pounds since mid-June and just hit a major milestone this weekend!
My husband was put on Metformin last Thursday and had a low sugar crash this morning. His doctor (whom I don't like) didn't think to suggest he get a glucose monitor while starting a new medication. We went and got one this afternoon (along with glucose tablets) so we can watch things going forward. We have both family and friends that have diabetes and they were guiding us today. Then my mom managed to figure out the phone in her room and called to tell us that we needed to come and get her as soon as possible and remove her from the facility. Sigh. We went in to see her and she was reading a book that caused her to become confused. She's done this before. Then she gets mad at us because we won't "believe her." She was crying when she told us to just leave. Sigh. The staff has observed this with her before and knew what to do. I'll go in again tomorrow and take her some ice cream. If she follows her pattern, she'll be embarrassed but should be ok.
