Time is flying by. I’m restarted my volunteer groups after the summer break. Had a lovely relaxed summer. Weather was unusually hot and humid, almost too hot to be out in 😜 in the lower to mid 20s is way above what get in Northern Ireland, Not Texas hot, but too much for me!

REMINDERS
One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.
📍Daily weight fluctuations are NORMAL and can be more than 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
📍A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
📍Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
📍The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
📍Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
📍The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
📍When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
📍Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.💃Terri

@pridesabtch So very sorry to hear about your mother. I’m in tears after reading your post about assisted living. It’s a difficult thing for her to deal with and the UTI induced paranoia must have been frightening for all concerned.
Our fur babies are part of the family too. We have them for such a short time, all we can do is give them the best life that we can, and recognise when their time has come. (((Hugs))) Loss is always hard to deal with.@HappyDonkey75 Grieving is natural. It’s one of the things we have to work through in our own way. Remember him in the good times. You gave him the best life you could.

Got through the first week of with of the semester with only one schedule change and a few tech obstacles at one of the high schools where I teach in the Early College program. Fortunately, it was a short week, but I have lots more to do before Monday.
Last Friday's follow-up with the cardiologist went pretty well, but the jury is still out on whether the ablation will remain effective long-term. Next test is a 10-day monitor before Thanksgiving. While I'm not completely back up to my former activity level, I'm getting more exercise and have more stamina, so I'm remaining optimistic.
Logging has been haphazard, but I'm going to try to get back to a regular routine, at least during the workweek. I'm off to Mom's today, so it'll be a challenge.

@HappyDonkey75 and @pridesabtch - Losing our furry family members is so hard. I hope memories of the love and joy your furbabies brought to your lives help lessen that pain.

Hour commitment - I won’t eat again until after 5 pm.

@HappyDonkey75 Love that you had a pendant made! May it bring good memories and comfort you.
Definitely feeling like fall here and first week of September is too soon for me! Yesterday we tied our record low "high" of the day at 61F (16C). Today we have a good chance of breaking the low high temp. Windy on top of that. I'll be happy when temps reach 70 by Sunday LOL.
Recap 9/4 R ~ Chilly this morning, even wore a light jacket on dog walk. Great for sleeping. Feels like fall!
- Walked dog 3.66 mi, water & treat at RJ's 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises 😀
- Make stuffed peppers for supper (not sad to warm up house lol) / healthy snacks ~ pear from farmers market, 2 oz peanuts / limit sweets ~ 4 Hershey minis / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero 😀 20 pretty darn close to zero!
- Finally figured out how to restart & sync my Fitbit after 2 days 😂 yay!
- More stuff on my to-do list… 😁 Ta-da!
JFT 9/5 F ~ Got out to walk dog before winds picked up to low 20s mph. Another branch down in the yard. Hubby has quite a pile started, waiting for city pick up of fall yard waste to start.
- Walked dog 3.71 mi 😁 happy me & happy dog / OT exercises
- Leftover peppers for supper / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 64 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
- Made hummer food, need to refill feeders / call Mom / make something with zucchini / download jewelry ins docs / check UHC OTC shop / fill out pledge / text sister / text TH / email aunt / read / digital declutter / other?
WOTY 2025: Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!

First Green Bay Packers home game at 3:25 this afternoon. Traffic on the way to church and at gas station already noticeably heavier this morning. Wonder if there will be a flyover? Our house is 2 miles north of the airport, so we get the military jets or helicopters over our neighborhood for some games.

JFT 9/7 Sunday ~ Another chilly day, temp may reach low 60s (F). Only 15 degrees below normal, oh my!Overnight low was 44 & inside house is holding steady at 66. Way too early to turn on furnace, although Mom said Dad turned theirs on to knock chill out of their house. Thankfully, our house is well insulated, and hubby & I are willing to wear layers. Hubby wants to wait until late November to turn on our furnace… I think that's going to be impossible LOL.

Sorry I was MIA over the weekend. Weather was mild and sunny. Had really hoped to get out and enjoy a bike ride or at least a walk, but things came up with mom. Lots to do today on the mom front. The insurance denied claim to go to the skilled nursing unit. I'm not totally surprised as she is physically quite healthy. What I don't understand is why the case worker even suggested it as a possibility. Right now, she is pretty upset with me and being rather mean. I get it, but there is nothing I can do to make her happy. She just doesn't understand.
The things she needs is help with medication and reminders to bath and things. Assisted living makes more sense, but it is hard to find a room & it's extremely expensive. I'm liquidating some of her assets today to help pay for it and getting an appraisal on her house. If my calcs are correct, I should be able to afford about 2.5 years in assisted living before having to send her to a nursing home. At the rate her dementia is progressing, she may have to go to the nursing home before that 2.5 years is up. Not sure how that works… I'm learning a lot about this stuff as I go. I just want her to be safe and comfortable. Preferably, she will be able to have her dog if she goes to Assisted Living. That is important to her.
Plan for today health-wise… Eat dinner at home, hubby has pulled pork in the crock pot. No alcohol. Do not go out for trivia/drinks. Been stress eating and drinking too much lately. That and the laundry really needs done. It is overflowing.

JFT Recap from weekend-
was at a horse show all weekend so it kept my mind occupied. The show had alot of ups and down for both my hubby who was competing and several of his clients. Alot of great achievements too. It was a good distraction but many times during the weekend I wished I had stayed home. Horse shows are alot of work, not much time to rest on your laurels and we not only had three horses with of our own (brought mine to just ride but not compete on ) but had 4 clients competing as well , two of which were first time competitors. Lots of hand holding and keeping people on task.
We had our old lady dog with and that was ok but I brought along my pendant with my boy's ashes . He was always the best horseshow dog and I needed something to have him with us in some way. We got home later than we wanted on Sunday night and Monday was back to work.

Totally forgot about getting my dress yesterday, but got everything else done. May try to schedule it today after I go to the assisted living home to check it out.
Have to go visit mom today. I hate visiting. She is so f'ing mean to me right now. I understand that she blames me for her situation. I know it's necessary, but it doesn't make it any easier.
Today started poorly. I didn't realize it was Tuesday and I almost missed my 7:30 meeting. Then I had an 8:15 meeting that I was holding and my wi-fi wouldn't load the presentation. It was a bit of a cluster. Hopefully everything else today lines out.

Hi all. This weekend, my sister-in-law passed away. It's been a very difficult time and will be hard for quite some time. She was my husband's sister and they were very close, only 1 year apart in age, out of family of 10 kids. She was a wonderful SIL and friend to me over these past 30 years. Our hearts are broken. I've been eating my feelings, and none of it is healthy. Have other stressful family things happening at the same time, so life feels hard right now. I'm so sad for her husband, her sons and the grandchildren too. I don't know how to comfort my husband…he is not sleeping. I wish I had a magic wand.
Excuse my depressing note, but it is just what's happening right now.
@TerriRichardson112 So nice to hear from you! I'm glad you are doing well. We had a really humid summer also. Nice to get some autumn temperatures lately.

@PackerFanInGB So sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, grieving is different for everyone. All you can do really is to be available to your family and take care of your self. Much love my friend.

Yesterday did get a bit better as it went on. Other than the fact that I went to the gas station to grab a soda and realized I left my wallet at work. Conveniently enough, I go to this gas station almost every day on my way to work, and the cashier told me just to pay her later. I think she could tell I was having a bad day. A little kindness can go a long way. No wallet also meant I couldn't get gas (had enough to get to assisted living home, but not enough to go get my dress or visit mom during the afternoon).
The assisted living home I visited yesterday was nice and they have a memory care wing. The memory care is over $7k a month where as assisted living is only $5k. It may not sound like much, but when budgeting its the difference between 2.5 years and 2 years of finances. This is assuming the house appraises for about what I expect. Up side is it allows pets in assisted living and in memory care on select basis. They also have openings in both areas, so I can get mom out of the hospital sooner. The facility is going to evaluate her today and see if she qualifies for assisted living. Then I just have to furnish the room. I'll be able to use some of her furniture so she feels at home, but will likely need to buy a floor lamp, a low dresser, small table/chair set and a new mattress. The expenses sure build up quickly.
Mom was also in a better place emotionally yesterday, but I don't think she recognized me at first.
Today I'm going to furniture shop and buy some material & foam to reupholster her rocking chair. At least I think I can… No harm in trying. It's just a seat cushion. May or may not go to trivia, just depends on how much I get done today.
Goal today is salad for dinner instead of pizza/calzone. If I go to bar trivia, limit it to 2 lite beers. If I don't go to trivia, left over pulled pork and no alcohol.
Thanks for letting me vent a little… Oh yeah, I have an interview tomorrow as well. At least I'm not over whelmed…
Nikki
