I recommend sticking to real food. Not only does it taste better but much cheaper as well. Processed food can be low in calories but usually low in nutrients and uses cheapest and lowest quality ingredients for cost savings.0

I eat them for lunch at work sometimes. There is a ton of sodium, but the calories are low. I try to minimize it, but they are fast and convenient. I just watch my sodium closely the rest of the day.0

I used to eat 1 everyday. The thought of them now make me sick and I can no longer eat them.0

Personally, I like them. I don't eat them every day, but I have one in the freezer for lunch today. For me, they help becuase I don't always have time to pack something or make something, and they are much better than fast food in my opinion. I just make sure I watch my sodium intake for the rest of the day. I think moderation is the key.
I agree. When I take one for lunch at work I try to watch my sodium for the rest of the day. For me I am not much of a cook, one of the reasons I am over weight today (too much fast food or convient foods). It is all about moderation and trying to stay wihin your goals.0 -
I have relied on them for taking meals to work that are 230calories or less; it helps with portion control and they are really tasty. The fact that the ones I have bought are on sale 5/10 makes them $2/meal and that is very affordable and better than what is called the wheel of death in the break room. If I have food cooked that is what I take but in a pinch the dinners make a smart and healthy choice compared to what's available if you don't have anything prepared for lunch.
I still have belly fat and perhaps it's the processed foods keeping it on me, I don't make the time to change to just whole foods right now so I have to live with it.
Good luck with losing and keep at it regardless of what others say and think, you have to do this for you!!!0 -
I like them because they definitely are easy when I'm in a time crunch. Some of them are very good. I think one I really liked was a Thai Peanut one...
My old roommate did Weight Watchers and literally her part of the freezer was only Smart Ones and I swear the pounds dripped off of her.
But I really think it's like everyone says, it's just about portion control and calories in vs calories out.0 -
I eat them every day - Lean Cuisines or Lean Pockets. Have I lost weight? Um...yeah. Works for me - might not for other people.
Some of the meals really aren't tremendously low cal. It's like what other people have said - the portions are controlled. Knowing that, I tend to eat slower, pay attention, etc, so I get the most out of my lunch. If I brought my own, not having a food scale, I'd probably guess the size wrong.0 -
I eat them 3-4 times a week for lunch. I'm not a fan of leftovers in general, and because I work at 2 different locations, it's impossible to keep food in work fridge without it being thrown out. I think they're pretty tasty and filling enough for lunch until my afternoon snack of greek yogurt. I make sure to eat ones that have meat so I get some protein as well. The yummy thai chicken from lean cuisine I had today had 550g of sodium, which doesn't seem very high to me if the average should be 1500-2000 spread throughout the day. Granted, I don't spend too much time worrying about sodium, but it seems reasonable.0

I eat them for my lunches @ Work because they're quick and easy.. They're okay, but not something that should be consumed for every meal. They help me stay within my calorie limits and as long as every meal I eat throughout the day is not completely filled with sodium I can balance it out.
In all reality, I ate subway today and there was more sodium in a 6' sub than in my lean cusine.0 -
I don't rely on convenience foods but I do pick up some Lean Cuisines when they are on sale, because they are the best of the frozen entrees when it comes to having good wholesome ingredients, vegetables and such. I have to eat two though, because most are like 250 calories which just isn't enough for me.0

i'm guilty of eating 1 or 2 a week. They're so convenient and cheap when they're on sale and easy to carry to work (I have a long commute and then a long walk when I get off the train). But....I have been making a sincere effort to eat cleaner, cook more and plan ahead to avoid eating too many pre-packaged food.
And of course you'll loose weight...if you work them into your daily calorie goal. The reason they are so 'lean' is because of their small portion size. I'm usually still hungry so I'll supplement with a side salad or fresh vegies.0 -
i use them occasionally, but not all the time.
i used them to start with to sort out what was appropriate in the way of portion sizes.
i use them when my partner works away and i want to have a slack relaxed week and not bother about cooking and preparing food because that gets boring, when you have to prepare food for 2 fussy kids and myself and my fussy partner every day of the week... so it's my equivalent of when other people probably go and get take away, i have a lean cuisine when i don't feel like cooking.
they have their place in the world, and it's always handy to have some in the freezer for when you get home late, have nothing in the house to eat, and you just chuck it in the microwave and be done with it, instead of going down to maccas.
to live on, they are probably not that good, but if i was single and without kids, i'd probably eat more of them because who can be bothered prepping food every single day, not my idea of a good time.0 -
I do eat Lean Pockets on occasion, but not all the time because I will get sick of them.0

There is a few that I pick from that are "lower" in sodium. I also add a hanful of frozen veggies to each tray. If I really think about it... a sandwich/boca burger and a salad, or left overs will prob. have 400-500mg of sodium total....
If i am not mistaken don't the new boxes and the spa cusines say "no preservatives" and "made with whole grains" "no artificial flavors" yahdy yahda yahda.... ? I agree, it's prob not true but one can only hope!!!!0 -
I have them once in a while when I have no time to fix my lunch for the day. Nice to have something to rely on rather than eating fast food.0

When i first started this whole journey all i ate for lunch were lean cuisines/smart ones/etc because:
A) they were easy to bring to work
i needed to to teach myself better portion control. I did lose weight while i ate them, but they are not very filling.
That being said, i now make my own lunches like a pita sandwich and salad and/or veggies. But i needed that baby step of frozen meals to help me get to the place of a good portion size.
I haven't eaten one in over 2 months, but they are pretty convenient in a pinch.0 -
Must have been too much coffee... I read the subject as " lean CRUISE"...I wondered what it was for a few seconds..0
-
I eat them almost every day for dinner and sometimes for lunch if I'm running late. I buy whatever ones are on sale, Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, or Healthy Choice. Each of these companies also have newish steamer dinners and bags and those are awesome too and a little healthier. I lost 30 pounds since the beginning of the year and ate one of these a day the entire time.0

At first they are totally gross....I had to resort to these a few months ago when I returned to work. Getting up at 0400 and doing 10 hrs of work and coming home to a toddler, I needed quick and convenient. I was adding 1.5 cups of veggies, onion, garlic and fresh herbs to make them slightly healthier......and yeah, I lost weight. I don't add salt to any of my food otherwise.0
