mom called as I was getting ready for class(again) and said she has changed her mind, again and will be calling tomorrow morning to reschedule the MRI. She won't say anything to my older sister who was against her getting the test done. She knows it is the right thing to do.
This morning, while dh was sleeping after working his once a week shift over night, I got caught up on food program "paperwork" for the month(for the daycare), mixed up a huge bowl of cookie dough to bake and take for the class reunion on Saturday- supposed to make 17doz. I will cheat and make bars out of them instead of individual cookies. Also making a chocolate, cherry, pecan dump cake also to take-baking everything on Friday. Chopped and froze some ripe jalapenos that were over ripe and starting to shrivel up. Worked on more of the 3d printed things for the next show which is in two weeks- we have four shows in the next two months.

Lanette - I am in Carleton County NB. It is more central and land locked. The river I showed was the Saint John River in Hartland.
no matter the quality of the camera in my phone it doesn’t do justice to the foliage.
I had a very nice visit with Mom today. She did catch me off guard and asked if I had talked to Dad lately. This is the first time she has mentioned him to me in 8 years. I told her I hadn’t and she told me to let him know she hasn’t found anyone else in her home. She also told my BFF and I that the male HCA ( who looked about 18) was cute. 😂When the nurse brought her meds she asked if it was her birth control lol.
it’s currently 1 am, I’m off to sleep.Tracey in NB

Good Night, Ladies,
Barbie, thank you for bringing us into October. I am now ready for the future. Whatever it brings.
This is my month, and I am going to read some good books. The one I read in September was mediocre and annoying. One was called "Maggie; or, A MAN AND A WOMAN Walk Into A Bar by Katie Yee—that book I gave two stars. The Griffin Sisters was pretty good, four stars. Love Rebooted was three stars, Dropping the Ball by Melanie Jacobson - 4 stars, Falling for You - 3 stars, The Chateau - 3.5 stars, You Deserve Each Other - 3.5 Stars, and The Baking Games, which I gave four stars. I gained 5 pounds in September. So, in October, I need to track my macros and exercise when I am off. I did some baking and I painted. Headaches increased in September. September 2, DS had a birthday. September 8, Baby Suko (Linette) turned 60. And September 30 was my dad's birthday; he would have been 90. My dad died at 69 years old. He only had 3 gray hairs. The nurses thought my son was his because he clung to him in the hospital. They kept calling my DH my older brother. I thought that was funny. Last, we celebrated 29 years of marriage on September 7. I worked on this mermaid for my patient and finished it yesterday. I dropped it and broke the tail of the fish, then I fixed it. Next, I fixed the ponytail. I threw the mermaid in the garbage twice. Then I came up with an idea. I turned the fish into a rock for her to sit on with clay. I will load the pictures of my September projects tomorrow.
DH had someone interested in purchasing my house come by. I was mad. Then I realized that this is for next year. I guess I am just not ready yet. The guy was so lovely that it wasn't so bad after all.
Lisa and M, congrats on the weight loss.
Allie, your grands are growing so fast!
Lanette, I have never been good with change. My dad stayed in the same house till he died. You are right, I need to stand by my man.
Debbie, you might be able to order some patterns online at Hobby Lobby's website.
Melanie, I took pics of Rose's elbow. I will upload tomorrow. Maybe we can support each other to have a successful October.
Kylia, I am so happy you were able to conquer your nicotine habit successfully. Heck, I am glad you had a wonderful vacation so that you can send pics of the traveling recliner.
Carol, I pray that your DH responds to the antibiotics soon. You are both in my prayers.🙏
Night-Night, my friends.
XO,

Hello everyone!
I'm awake, I've done my exercises, and, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! 😁
I am very much looking forward to an indulgent, happy day, doing just what I like. John is making me his special Moussaka for dinner, and I may have a 'funny lunch' for myself. 😋 I will do my half hour on the machines, because it makes me feel better. I will watch two of my favourite men on TV tonight, on recorded programmes.
My main present from John was the Bose headphones, which I adore, but I know he has some extra bits for me. I am just about to get up and make him a cup of tea.
All good. I am feeling a lot better since my blood results and newfound resolve. Physically and mentally. I have a bounce in my step again. Long may it continue. I am lucky to have made it this far.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather - Happy birthday! Sounds like a lovely, calm celebration
Tracey - I love seeing the St. John's pictures. It is truly beautiful and wild country.
Carol - prayers for you and your husband. The hospital vigils are tiring.
I have needed medical appointments set up. Primary care made referral urologist, mammogram, pap, podiatrist, and the ever popular colonoscopy. Next week I get follow up blood work and CT scans to determine how thyroid cancer is looking. Started low dose blood pressure pill also.
Heading out for a few days to attend college reunion (undergraduate). Will be seeing friends from many years ago-some I have not seen since graduation (in 1976!). I was feeling bad about going because my body is not in its best shape after my medical trials this year. But then I realized it is pretty awesome that so many of us are able to attend. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Will take a break if back needs it.
Need to go get packed and cat stuff set up.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

On organising my home office:
Step 1: sort things into several main categories.
- Books - went on the shelves but in no particular order
- Art Supplies - have been organised into cube boxes and stored on a new shelf
- Office Supplies - in a pile in one corner
- Electronic Stuff - in a bin in another corner
- Paperwork - in a huge pile
Step 2: paperwork
- Initial sort to get rid of obvious things like envelopes, things I've printed and the originals exist on my laptop, etc.
- Initial division of stuff into file boxes - major categories
That's where I am now. 🙂📚️
Oh, I've also moved my piano books into the bench we got last weekend for my piano/keyboard so that they are out of the home office and into a place that's more useable.

HappyHappy birthday Heather! Your day sounds absolutely fabulous. I hope it all goes just as you expect it.
Ginny- I was thinking of you last night. Meant to text bit squirrels were moving again. The only people that judge our bodies are ourselves. Besides that clothes hide a multitude of sins! There was a video once of this drop dead gorgeous woman. Then you see her getting ready for bed- no makeup, no hair extensions, pushup bra off, spanx off, butt padding off.....she was a normal young lady. You will go and will have a blast! Take care driving!
Tracey- I am glad you are home for a visit.
Derm appt this morning. No makeup until after. No worries. I have found i really like Laura Gellars baked makeup. Easy on, looks good all day, skin nor reacting. Takes less than 5 mins! Then back to work.
I disappointed DH last night when I told him I was going to football game for the chance to see DGS play on Friday. He had wanted to go to a car show. The car show will be there next year. DGS only has two more local games. Because if his earlier injury he has been playing JV instead of varsity. JV games are Saturdays during work hours. I really hope he plays Friday night.
Cali wants out badly! She doesn't understand that it is still dark.
The sun is starting to come up!
Welcome Amanda from CA.
Machka-That is how I organize too! Empty closet stuffs into hall while putting obvious not keeps in separate area (trash or donate). Sort into groups, then put away. Just did that with vacation mail.
Have an awesome day ladies! YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Great so far! I got some thoughtful presents from John, and my younger son came over to give me a card and some Spanish treats. He stayed for a cup of coffee before rushing off to another meeting. We spent some time together searching, again, for our mains stopcock. It's a mystery.
I've been given another two months free by Readly! This is the fourth time! I don't understand the marketing, but I'm very happy to have it. I will read a favourite interiors magazine this afternoon. I put the cancellation date in my diary.
I will have a lovely nap at some point. 😊
John will be spending the whole afternoon cooking. That's why I get him to make the moussaka, not me. 😂 His sister is coming in November and she has requested moussaka when she heard about mine! 😉 I have booked Petit Pois restaurant for the Saturday evening when she is here, as she wants to treat him for his 80th.
Love to all, and thank you for the birthday wishes! 💖

I know several of you have mentioned you like the British TV series: Vera.
My husband really likes the show and I don't mind, so we've been watching it when it comes on Sunday evenings.
Right at the end of last month, I read the first book Ann Cleeves wrote which became the first of the Vera shows, The Crow Trap. Keen-eyed ones of you might have spotted that. 😊
I've got the second book from the Vera series on hold, and the other day I purchased one from Ann Cleeves' Shetland series which I found in one of our used bookstores.

Barbie … Thank you for taking us into October
Melanie … I love the photo of your crew!
WC Mandy … Welcome!
Carol … Continuing to pray for you and your husband.
Tracey … Hope you're enjoying your trip home. Love the photos of NB! My husband and I took a long drive through the Allegheny mountains yesterday leaf peeping. Dry weather this summer has impacted the fall foliage Some areas looked done and dead. Other areas hadn't even started to change. Best colors, of course, were found in our own backyard! 😁 We will go looking in another direction next week.
Did stop and walk through a spot called Heart's Content where there's a stand of protected virgin timber in Pennsylvania. We've been there many times over the years. The gnats were not our friends yesterday, but it was good to get out of the truck and stomp around for a bit.
My weight loss efforts have seeming ground to a halt. My husband, who is now on Metformin for his diabetes, made good food choices, lost weight and had significant improvement in his blood labs in a month. My son continues to transform his health. Me? I am stuck. The basement if full of new exercise equipment (thanks to my son). I haven't used any of it. I'm cooking one type of food for my son and another type for my husband. I eat junky carbs. Suspect I'm having a pity party and my knees aren't happy so it's time to get over it.

Good Morning Tribe;
Happy Birthday, Heather! 🎉❣️ Now, remember, Heather, we get to celebrate your whole birthday month. So, treat yourself well. Massage, Manicure, a decadent dessert, exercise, and treat yourself to something nice. We are October girls, and we love beauty. Enjoy your day and your family!🎂
Welcome to our tribe, Amanda! Living a healthy lifestyle is not as easy as it is on TV. Let us support you!
Tracey, thank you for sharing the fall beauty of your hometown. I absolutely love it. I love the beauty of fall.
Ginny, I don't remember if I told you, but congratulations on your beautiful grandson. Both of your grandsons are so cute!. You reminded me that I need to schedule most of what you listed on my next stretch off.
Machka, how is the weather now? Can you ride your bike now?
Pip, I hope you're all enjoying your camping trip. Does Ethyl like it?
Kylia, I hope you have a headache-free day at work today.
Debbie, post pics of the reunion. Don't stress out too much. Does anyone else help with the festivities?
Barbara, I went through clothes that are way too big and boxed them for donation, and now I can walk into my walk-in closet.
The Guy who came and looked at my house wants to close in December. He told me yesterday. So this is real now. We will have a clause that I will be out by April. Now I need to figure out the moving process. Okay, I will upload my pics from my phone. Sorry, but my tech guy is in NYC so that they will be big on the post. Chow for now.

Heather - Happy Birthday!!!😍🎂 Sounds like a nice dinner planned. So glad you are feeling better. Love your spirit - things don't get you down for long, and you always accept the challenge to bounce back. You rock! When your grandchildren are grandparents themselves, I'm sure they'll remember this about you. My grandmothers were the same way and it has served as a good example for me.
Tracey - sounds like your mom is in fine form. How is her health otherwise? Thanks for the geography lesson, beautiful fall leaves. Have a safe flight back.
Carol - hope your DH is doing better. Are you staying with him at the hospital a lot?
Mo - Wow - your house sale is moving right along, much like Ginny's! I didn't realize you had the house listed. Yes, the move seems real now. Hey, Happy Birthday, I'm probably too early. Not sure of the date. 😍
Debbie - the fact that your mom thought about it and decided to go ahead with the MRI and called to set it up is a positive sign in my book. That takes reasoning and understanding and action. Would she be OK if she wasn't allowed to drive anymore - can she get rides to places she wants or needs to go? Like church and grocery shopping? You are going to be super busy here the next few days. Hope a good turnout and good weather for the reunion.
Beth - totally understand about the eating. My excuse for buying/bringing in junky carbs was that I was getting them for my husband, even though he eventually stopped eating them. It took me a long time to not toss them into the shopping cart. And some still sneak in from time to time. I bet the leaves in your area are gorgeous too. That virgin timber - oak? Maple? Elm or are they all gone now? I miss the Indiana trees like hickory and mulberry (I know, purple bird poo all over everything.)😉
Machka - your office reorganization reminded me that's what I need to do this weekend. I tried to find something the other day and the pile of filing was scary. I tend do it like you do. I know I'll find plenty to just toss. Yes, I was reading Ann Cleeves books before I knew Vera and Shetland had been made into TV series. I would love to take the teleporter and check out the Shetland Islands for a few hours. I'll pick up Barbie on the way and we'll be there and back before Annie realizes it, lol.
Ginny - enjoy your reunion too. Warning - there will be a lot of old people there.😁 I didn't fly back to Indiana for my 50th high school reunion, but my buddies sent photos. I noticed that most of my classmates had turned into their parents appearance-wise. I sometimes see my mom when I look in the mirror. 😁😮
More on Windows 11 - I keep getting a warning that there's a driver that won't load. A glitch in this particular version of @W11. I did some digging around in Microsoft and it appears it's nothing critical, there are ways fix it. I asked Microsoft's AI about it and it told me not to worry and gave me directions on how to disable the warning. I'll leave things alone for now.
I have a disjointed day coming up today. First, I'm meeting D for our monthly breakfast at 10. Then tonight is the final Road Department retirees BBQ for the year. The meal starts at 6:30. Talk about eating late, lol. But that's OK. Chance of rain, temp 60F. They have a huge shop and can set up chairs so it works well.

Amanda in Cali - Welcome! We're glad you're here.
Lanette - Thought about you this morning while I was getting a bucket of water at a time out of the rain barrel to put it on Corey's garden. Figure a gallon is about eight pounds, and it sounds an awful lot like your farmer's carry! 😂👀🐈⬛ For good reason, I suppose. Anyway, five trips, walking about 60 feet each time with the weight, then walking back to get another bucketful. Pretty good exercise.
Beth - It's kind of annoying how easy it is for guys who have never paid any attention to their health and make one decision, like exercising, and then proceed to change their whole lives - but I think that's part of our problem. They drive for one thing and one thing only, and all the rest falls out of it. We, on the other hand, see it all as part of a whole, and if we're messing up on part of any of it, then we've failed, so why mess with the other part? Diet, exercise, all foods have to be healthy, any food that isn't healthy is a terrible thing. Just a suggestion, dear heart, but maybe just do one thing today, and not all the things. Make the goals small, not "transforming your health." Just don't eat junky carbs today. In fact, just don't eat junky carbs this afternoon. The transformational stuff is too much pressure! One little thing at a time. One habit at a time. One change at a time. You can do this.
So, after my farmer's carry fun, I headed down to the grounds of the long-gone little house, and picked up all the trash I was able to carry in a trash bag. Also scared a snake that had decided to hide under an old piece of tarpaper to get away from weather that it considers far too cold.
We scared the living daylights out of each other, and I decided I had picked up enough trash for one day. I plan to add that chore to my outside routines, though… Water the grass and the garden, and pick up a trash bag of stuff. Part of the mess we're still seeing is just working its way up from the prior denizens' habit of just throwing trash outside, and part of it got pushed aside in the demolition.
Oh, and some of you wanted to see the stone terrace wall that we uncovered between our home and the little house. As you might be able to see, that corner is in pretty bad shape. They let a tree get a hold right there, and I'm sure it's the roots of the tree that damaged the wall. And considering they sunk a telephone pole in the ground right in front of that corner, that damage was probably done 40 or 50 years ago now. For perspective, that pole is about 5 feet high. I would bet the wall goes another foot into the ground, if not further.
And yes, the tar paper at the bottom right corner is harboring a nope rope, snaky-snake. I noped right out of there after that.
All of this was jungle, by the way - didn't know the wall was there until well after we moved in, and long before we bought the piece of land it borders.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
mo - if you have to be out by April will you be going to Chicago?

Got to the gym today (yea!) and did a spinning workout then Aldi. Now home and will probably take Ganon for a walk. They’ve started taking apart the deck. Vince said they said they should be completed taking apart most of the deck today and will do the rest and the porch tomorrow. Then the dumpster can be hauled away. That’s probably where they’ll put the wood. The cats are disappointed that they can’t go on the porch (poor babies!)
Amanda – welcome! I hope even after the challenge is over, you’ll continue to come here (I’m sure you will, everyone is so helpful and supportive)
Deb – so glad your mom decided to have the MRI
Tracey – “birth control” thanks for the smile
Happy, happy birthday Heather
Beth – I don’t know if by you, but the onion weeds are starting up again here
I think the deck guys broke out for lunch. I’ll probably go take Ganon for a walk.

Last volleyball practice yesterday before the teachers strike on Monday. Rather than a practice thought I would make it a fun game night. Had some teachers as well as myself and my daughter in law play the girls. Had a great time. Going to miss them. I have never seen my DIL play… she’s good! 😊 I told her I knew my son would chose a good volleyball player 😂 She told me she likes basketball better 👎🏽
Headed to the city today to be interviewed for a potential new family doctor. 1 1/2 hours away for me. She’s from Russia and is one that I found is open to taking new patients 🤞 Also have to return an online purchase my daughter made. As Canada Post is on strike it’s too expensive to send it by courier so I’ll take it to the mall and wander around there a little this afternoon.
Headed back to the city to see a performance at the Canadian Finals Rodeo tomorrow . To tell you the truth, I have watched so much rodeo over the years I can take it or leave it but my husband wanted to go. Not looking forward to the crowds. There is a trade show too so will do some Christmas shopping there.
Rebecca- great gym session! Since my knee replacement I can no longer run so I have been trying out the Japanese walking method for cardio that keeps coming up on my google feed. 3 minutes easy, 3 minutes hard for 5 rounds. Goes by fast and definitely gets by heart rate up. Will do it this morning before I leave and catch up on last night’s survivor episode.
Lisa- my mom passed away almost 15 years ago. I always said I lost my biggest fan. I miss her so much. I will often be doing something that stops me in my tracks because it reminds me of her so much. I hope making your mom’s meal brought you some warmth and good memories 🩷
Lanette- we haven’t been able to make hay the last few years due to drought conditions so we have been buying- trucking it up to 5 hours away. We did purchase moisture insurance this year which did pay out so some of our expenses will be covered.
I absolutely can’t handle any human stuff. I can’t even take out stitches. My husband came in the other day having just about cut off the top of his thumb and I could barely look at it. My dad gives me flack for not becoming “a real doctor” but I know I absolutely could not have handled it. The only thing I have issues with in vet med is orthopaedics. I did set and cast baby calves legs but it made me nauseous. Luckily most of my surgeries with cattle are soft tissue- doesn’t bother me.
Here is a picture of my basement gym. Things bought over the years. The bike is a relic hand me down from my sister. I especially like the adjustable weights- they go up to 55 pounds. The homemade chin up bar in the bedroom is my husbands. He can just grab it and pump out 10 pull ups- super annoying 😑Michele- hope Pix’s lump turns out to be benign. Is she an older dog? Fat lipomas are really common in older dogs and are benign. Think I sport a few of those myself 😉
Barbara- good to hear you are getting back to line dancing. Sounds fun!
Tracy- those pics look a lot like where I live. Your mom sounds like fun- I did LOL at the birth control comment 🙂
Mo-I’d be interested to see Rosy’s elbow.
Heather- HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🥳 Hope you have a wonderful year ahead! Keep bouncing!!
Ginny- enjoy your reunion 🙂
Beth- I have been in a junk food funk for 2 weeks. So done with it. I feel bloated and just slow.
Take care everyone 💕

For Athena and Eli I found a site that sells cute "shadow books" that are made in a way that pages stand up so you can shine a flashlight thru it to make the shadow scene on a wall, then little paper puppets to dance around. I told husband to buy the one that was about 20 different scenes and you can just make up stories etc. Totally using their imagination!
I usually send out about 80 cards, then just the boxes. Its definitely something I need to plan for!
I don't think my sister is really worried about the financial side of a pet, but just doesn't have the emotional energy to give to a pet these days. Still so much loss in her live she struggles with. She pretty much hates the month of August as that's when all of her pets have passed, and her husband as well. I have never been one to mourn a persons day they passed on a yearly basis, its just maybe their birthday I put their name on a calendar (like my Maternal grandmother was 6-21) and put a heart.

Well last nights dinner was yummy but didn't treat me well for most of the night! Gurgling in the belly, and getting up to stumble to the bathroom, fun city! I had fixed Birds Eye steamables roasted red potatoes and green beans in a light sauce. Then husband had his sausage braut dog with baked beans. There were two sausages left so I just cooked them both up. Husband only had the one, and I finally decided to cut the other one up and toss in my meal. It was wonderful, but was too greasy I guess for my body was not happy. It also triggered me to wanting more food, so I had a Legendary brand protein poptart. Its was not really what I wanted, or needed for that matter. I then ate about 6 sugar free winter green mints. Lordy! It was not the best of nights.
Today was not a gym day for me, but we did go grocery shopping. I bought a lot of sugarfree, protein ridden, and healthy options! I also bought new things I have never tried before:
V8 Energy mango drinks
Okios triple zero yogurt lemon tart 15 grams protein
Oikos Pro strawberry yogurt 20 grams protein
Daisy 4% cottage cheese in large container 13 grams for 1/2 cup
Kidfresh white meat chicken nuggets (5 nuggets 4 fat/ cal 130/protein 12 grams/carbs 13
Who would have thought as an adult I would be buying kid foods but if they're less carb, sodium, fats then that's a good thing. Kidfresh also make a yummy tv dinner that's mac and cheese with cheeseburger bits and wagon wheel pasta. There's hidden veggies in there!
