Menopause weight gain

Hello

I have just downloaded this app again to help me lose weight,, I have put on 2 and a half stone in the last year,, due to mental health not going out or doing exercise much & poor diet 😫 binge eating through stress . I feel some of the weight gain is due to menopause,, my stomach is so bloated I look pregnant 🙈

Looking for advice on eating healthy,, I seem to want to eat all the time ,, this is something I never had before,, and foods to help bloating.
I don’t drink alcohol just sparkling water or green tea ,, no juices / coffee ect

I have booked to start with a PT once a week and plan to go walking most days to kick start back into fitness, which I use to love

You start where we all start.

Keep track of what you're eating.

This app makes that easy on the FOOD page.

As far as "eating healthy" for me it was a process. I logged food, studied my food diary and slowly made changes in the right direction. I didn't try to overhaul my whole life on week One.

As far as the stress, I hope you can find ways to alleviate that - whether that's going low contact with problematic people or looking for a new job or moving, or whatever that looks like for you. Stress definitely impacts everything, including weight.

What’s changed? What can you do to change what’s changed?

For me, it was being forced into retirement unexpectedly. I was lost.

But then I decided I still had a job, only Better Me was that job. Once I thought of it that way, made myself my own project, I was able to focus, strategize etc.

Could you flip whatever’s stressing you on its back and somehow make it a plus instead of a stressor?

Congratulations on starting your healthy lifestyle journey!

There are lots of videos and resources on menopause belly fat melting with so many people recommending the one thing that is going to erase it. I haven't found any of those things work for me. My menopause belly shrinkage is still a work in progress, but found that eating healthy and regular exercise are helping.

check out this thread for other menopause related discussion. I've included some links in that thread for menopause information that I've found helpful and provided my own little summary.

In a nutshell … there is no magic bullet that I've found.

We are all here to support you and answer questions along the way. You go this!

walking is a great way to get in shape, burn some calories and get generally healthy.

what i did to start losing weight was food substitutions. instead of regular ice cream, i had dryer's slow churned, which is lighter. i switched from regular cheese to reduced fat or baby bel or laughing cow minis, and i switched from whole eggs to egg substitutes. i also switched from regular yogurt to light & fit, and there were so many foods i substituted.

with food substitutions and walking, i went from 242 to 181, and i went from there.

also finding a hobby you really enjoy that keeps your hands and mind occupied makes it a lot easier to avoid the urge to eat.
