For me it’s focusing on protein when eating. Making sure I get as close as I can to that protein goal!

to lose weight… counting calories
to maintain weight with minimal calorie counting… Exercising daily

Exercising regularly.
I decided to exercise at least 15 minutes a day for at least 300 days this year.
It has made a difference!

The single biggest impact to my health and wellness was eliminating refined sugar. After about 6 weeks, I stopped craving it. I'm perfectly happy eating fruit for a sugar fix now and actually crave it. It can happen!

I stopped drinking alcohol.
No more empty calories - there's around 700cals in a bottle of wine. No little snacks with drinks which inevitably turn into a cheese and biscuits binge. No more comfort eating carbs / fatty foods due to a hangover. More energy and motivation to exercise as I'm not tired for days post boozing. Not looking bloated, and my digestion has improved.
I do miss a nice drink though.

This eaxactly! Alcohol is nemesis. When I drink I make horrible food choices. Alcohol is poison and should be illegal! :)

Logging food but weighing and measuring first is very important and read serving sizes on packages. It's so easy to snack or eat a bigger serving than you realize.

Weigh and measure food and read labels and log every bite. It's very eye opening to how many calories we eat. Then drink enough water and move your body.

Continuing to log my food, even after I lost 50 pounds. It helped me avoid calorie creep, since I log everything I eat. (I don't weigh or measure though. It hasn't been necessary.) Second is I made exercise a priority. I am retired, so I walk 3+ miles every day, and do an additional hour of exercise for about an hour 5+ days a week. It gives me a lot of flexibility in how much I can eat.

Keeping focus and realizing that if I overeat one day, all is not lost. I more than likely ate at maintenance and only derailed one day not a week or a month or even enough to gain weight as long as I stayed on track afterwards.
