Just for Today.... ONE DAY AT A TIME... Daily commitment for 2025

Hi everyone! It’s a bit late for goals, but I’m going to list what I had in my head to stay accountable.
@pridesabtch Good luck with your mom today! Just reading about the auctioneer coming and all you have in front of you, I shuddered. I cannot even begin to think about all that with my mom’s home. She has so much stuff! I’m not exaggerating when I say there is no space larger than 12”x12” on her walls that doesn’t have something hanging on it and not one flat surface without Knick knacks on it. Every space along every wall has a piece of furniture against it. There is no empty space anywhere. It’s very cozy and comfortable for her, I know, and that’s what matters. It’s all nice stuff. But it’s a LOT of stuff….very cluttered. She is very healthy though, so I’m glad of that. I will cross that bridge when and if I need to I guess.
Have a great day everyone!
Just for Tuesday

Very late to post for today, but want to for my own accountability. Going to post goals for tomorrow while I'm at it.
Recap 10/6 M ~ Weather has certainly done an about face! From record highs in upper 80s to 58F right now. Rain overnight and off/on today. Skipping dog walk.
- Min. 5000 steps 😖 nope / OT exercises 😀
- Lunch with IA mgmt team (minus 2) ~ had bowl of chili & shared in someone's fries as side, not too bad & bumped into good friend DE / healthy snacks ~ none / limit sweets ~ 3 Hershey minis / lemonpepper whitefish, beets &
either couscous orrice side for supper / log all food (best guess) / net calories zero 😉 with guesses, around -165… salt content caused w-i blip this a.m. but that should pass - Usual M garbage chores / vote in Coolest Thing / contact app support for OT exercises ~ very quick response & once I followed the steps, issues resolved ~ yay /
wash dishes/ read / digital declutter / Cubs v Brewers NLDC game 8:08 ~ yay another win for Brewers / other? I think so but can't remember 😁 ta-da!
JFT/Recap 10/7 T ~ Too busy to notice weather, finally a chance to walk dog late afternoon. Cool out, but warm enough for shorts & tech shirt.
- Walked dog 3.35 mi around neighborhood 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises (a little behind so far)

- 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Medicare Advantage Expo 😁 bumped into a former colleague from the bday club, a favorite farmers market vendor & our former neighbor, now an ins. agent… small world. Also got to meet our new ins. agent since B retired. Information overload with learning about 5 leading ins. carriers' details for 2026. Reminded me of working days, attending multi-track conferences, and going from room to room to learn.
- Scheduled financial advisor meeting in FdL ~ good timing, M called / scheduled health ins. meeting (A called once back in office) / highlighted pertinent notes to consider for Med. Adv. meeting, based on discussion with A / verified eye exams tomorrow for myself & hubby / called Mom ❤️ perhaps next visit to coincide with financial meeting since it's part way there? / moved all patio & front step pots to protection near house / emptied ceramic birdbath in case of frost / voted in Coolest Thing / read? / digital declutter / other?

@pridesabtch - the process of dealing with your mom's house and belongings brings back not so fond memories of 3 years ago when my parents sold their home . SO MUCH STUFF. YEARS of saving things and the house was over 4000 square feet with a huge shop . We had three weekends of yard sales and hauled countless truck and trailer loads to both the dump, a local auction house and good will/salvation army. It was a whole spring and summer of work so I can completely appreciate what your going through.
Got to see mom and dad last night. They leave early this am. Mom was tearful , which breaks my heart, dad was holding it together. I set up the car settings again so he could get his phone connected to the car for GPS. He forgets how to do things like that. I worry about them making this drive alone but I could not take the time off since I am essentially out of vacation hours. I wanted to set up the life360 app but neither one of them knew what their apple id password was in order to download the app . That's a whole different issue with the apple id thing. I have tried to reset their passwords before and it won't work for some reason. I never got the time to get on the phone with Apple to try to trouble shoot it and now I am kind of kicking myself. Tonight I will go to the apartment with my hubby and nephew to get the few pieces of furniture out that need to go into storage. I didn't want my dad worrying about it.
I am starting to feel like I am getting over the hump with this virus thing..
JFT
- Try to get more veggies into my day
- Get through annoying work meetings
- rewrap my horses leg and get him out for a hand walk/grazing (he injured his leg somehow and I now have him on stall rest since I think its a tendon or ligament due to the heat and swelling)
- Treadmill? a few squats/lunges on my work breaks instead of mindlessly scrolling social media
- Glutathione shot day today
- Tea/water/fiber

First of all thank you all for the support you offer. I'm trying to stay positive, but I need a place to vent. In the real world I try to take it in stride, not that it always works but I try. Today I am failing at that…

I'm not going to lie, yesterday was awful. My aunt visited mom during the day and decided it was time to take Cora, mom's dog. Mom just wasn't taking good care of her. It was only a matter of time, but I hadn't expected it yesterday.
I took her to the doctor in the afternoon, and there was a lot of talking and anger on her side. When I checked her in, they asked if the address was still XXX Maple Street. I told them no we had moved mom into assisted living. She flipped out claiming she had no idea that that was happening. Mind you she's been there for 2 weeks. I guess hadn't actually ever called her Memory Care Unit "Long Term Care". I think it finally hit home that she would not be going back to her house. She said some really harsh things to me. Her doctor was very caring and listened/talked to mom and I for more than 30 minutes. I kept it together during the appointment and the drive back to the assisted living facility. I cried all the way to meet the auctioneer.
Mom has been purging her things for years so other than furniture and a bunch of glassware there isn't much there. The auctioneer was very nice and they are going to come move the things October 22nd. Then I can get the house ready for sale.
After that, I decided to play pool to relax. I played well, but not as well as the guys I played against. One ended up winning the tournament. He was exceptional. It was nice to go someplace where I didn't have to think or talk about the day.
I'm not handling things well today. I laid in bed and cried unable to pull myself together this morning. I came in late, but the tears still seep out. Tonight is trivia night, and thankfully Tom won't be there. Tom is actually a very good friend, but he is very loud and can be a bit obnoxious. I'm just not up for that.

@HappyDonkey75 Instead of Life 360, if you both have Apple Phones they can simply share their location next time. That is what the girls and I do. I don't watch them all of the time, they just grant me access when they are traveling. It's a nice feature and not as invasive as Life360.

Yesterday was pretty good. Work - Trivia - Bed. Work was ok, we placed 2nd at trivia and I slept on the couch. My friends brought cupcakes and sang happy birthday to me at the bar last night even though my birthday is today.
Work has been busy today and I think I may leave a little early to straighten up the house and shower/fix my hair (Have sweaty hard hat hair currently). Sierra is coming in this evening and the family is going to a uber nice steak house for dinner. You don't have to dress up, but you aren't out of place if you do. It is a bit pricey, but damn it's good. I look forward to the evening but mostly look forward to seeing my daughter for a few days.
I think Sierra will go visit mom tomorrow, and maybe they can hang the bird feeder. I was rushed to get to appointments the last few times I visited. This will give them something to do. I'll go over tomorrow evening. I need to get her a new TV. The first one we bought her, you have to select "Live TV" every time you turn it on, and she can't figure it out.

Yesterday was a really good day. I mostly put away all of the momma drama and focused on Sierra coming in. Dinner was great and my baby girl makes for excellent company. It's so weird that she is an adult doing grown up things… The filet was was seared and a perfect Med Rare, the lobster macaroni was decadent and the espresso vodka martini's were quite nice. There was even a friend of mine at the restaurant that sent me a dessert for my birthday. I was way to full to eat it, but I got the ice cream sundae and nibbled a bit.
Funny story: Tim got up at 6:00, let the dogs out and fed them. I didn't need to get up until 7:15/7:30 so I dozed back off. At sometime after 6:00 Gia (the grand puppy) curled up in bed with me. I never use an alarm clock anymore, but today I was so comfortable I didn't wake up until 8:00. Oops!
Today I need to go buy the new TV for mom and get a wedding card and some cash for Amber's wedding tomorrow (they are saving for a house). I was talking to my friend Kim (Mom of bride) she said they have spent $37k so far on the wedding and they haven't paid for the reception hall yet. YIKES! I had no idea it was so expensive these days. My job at the wedding is to keep Kim sane. Hopefully when it's time, Sierra will take the $20K elopement option (or stick to a budget). Good house down payment, less work AND less expensive. Plus Tim and I will still go and maybe they will pick a nice destination. No rush though, her BF is still in school getting his masters in Chemical engineering. I think he is planning to finish in spring 2027.
After work and shopping I will go to see mom and hook up the new TV. Tim made chili in the crock pot for dinner so that will be easy and nice on this chilly day.

@pridesabtch thanks for the suggestion on the location share, I didn't even think about that. I am sorry things didn't go well with your mom and you aunts visit but I think if the dog isn't being cared for, its the right decision. I know it must be hard to be orchestrating all this for your mom for her best interest but knowing its creating hard feelings for her to deal with .
Mom and dad made it safely back to AZ yesterday evening. I think its always bittersweet when they leave here. Here is home and where they have most of what they are comfortable with as well as more family to help if things come up . When they are here its a rural setting (and nearby me ) where they rent an apartment which is not the best set up / The owners of the property are so called "friends" that also live on the same property at the main house, but there were some issues this year. So I think they were anxious to leave this year and I can't say I blame them . They will be back in their own home and the community offers way more opportunity to be social, lots of people around their own age.
Nonetheless they are back and hopefully things will be ok for a while with their health. Its hard to not be able to be close to help. My sister is nearby to them , about 20 minutes, but limits her interactions. It's complicated. I honestly feel like they should sell their place down south and move back here where we can get them into a senior apartment of some kind. I suggested it multiple times. They just need more help than they get from my sister.
Made a vet appt for my horse to have his leg ultrasounded and figure out exactly what kind of injury he has. We go on Monday. I have him confined to a smaller area to help let things heal but I got to thinking, what if confinement is not really required. That would be the best possible news and the only way to know for sure is get a solid diagnosis of what the issue is. I am praying its not the injury I think it is because that is 3-6 months of confinement and a slow rehab process to get back to work.
Big winter storm predicted at the higher elevations this weekend, hopefully we only get rain here in the valley, but it will be wet and cold.
JFT
- Going to try my hardest to do atleast a 20 minute weight session today. I did a few little weights with legs yesterday just to remind my muscles they still exist…. they were not happy…
- Remember to submit productivity reports for work- (I don't always remember because I am too busy trying to do all my work) We have to submit these all because ONE member on our team chooses to do nothing. It really annoying. My boss knows everything I have on my plate because she forced me to have to take on all this extra work and yet…. and she is CC'd on every meeting I have (because I'm Genx and believe wholly in CYA)
- Drink enough water- been lacking there with the cooler weather..
- Make weekend to do list

I usually don’t post much on the weekends, but I’m having a rather lazy Sunday afternoon so I figured I’d check in. Got dressed up Yesterday for a wedding. Bought new shoes online for the event. Made a mistake by not trying them on before yesterday. They were NOT comfortable! Tight on the toes, but super cute so I suffered.
It was an all day all night affair. Wedding was at 2:30pm. We left at 11:30pm to the disappointment of our friends who were continuing the party upstairs in their hotel room. Danced quite a bit, but the drinks countered those calories. I was wiped out this morning. Tim went to church, but I skipped. Need to get dressed and go see mom. Would rather laze in my PJs and do nothing.
Here a picture from last night. It was taken at the end of the night so not looking fresh, but we had fun.

Hello, my JFTers! Had an unexpected break from JFT and MFP. Started on Thurs. late afternoon, when hubby was called away by his eldest brother & SIL, due to their health issues and need for assistance. She's got MS and not always able to do things plus no longer drives, and so their SOS to hubby. They're a 40 min. drive away. Hubby and I talked it over first, mainly bc my bday was the next day, and while not particularly happy about it, I could handle being alone on my bday (I'd done it before in my single days). We scrapped our dinner plans for my bday & expected hubby to return home Sat. He packed & left, and I went to my Bible study Th evening & shared. Doggo and Kitty very confused that we were alone at bedtime, but we did just fine. I do enjoy having the house to myself.
Next day, I planned to sleep in but phone started pinging with bday wishes from friends & family. Even had an offer from 1 in my Bible study to spend part of day with me… sweet but I declined. Had nice text chat with my sister. Walked dog a little extra since we had time. Developed afternoon plans, including opening cards & present that had arrived by mail earlier in the week. Made up my mind to go out to eat, somewhere hubby wouldn't necessarily care for. Lo and behold, he showed up mid-afternoon. His brother was much better (thanks to some OTC meds hubby went and got), so we were able to go out to dinner as planned. Also got the good news that his brother's daughter passed the bar exam in Boston. So a very good ending to the day.
The weekend was spent doing fall yard work with hubby, including cutting down some young trees I recently learned were on the invasive list for our state. We also picked up our eggroll order from the Hmong congregation at church. Yum! Eating those & going out the night before, sodium & calories jumped, but blip getting back down almost at fast. Yay.
@HappyDonkey75 Hope you get positive news from the vet for your horse.
@pridesabtch Cute photo of you two!
JFT 10/13 M ~ Rain overnight & very humid at 86%. Sprinkling when we left house, so dog & I stuck to neighborhood cul-de-sacs this morning. Temp pretty mild at 60F. But over the weekend, with highs in the 50s, we turned on the furnace. Oh well, waiting until Nov. wasn't too likely anyway.
- Walked dog 3.49 mi 😁 happy dog & happy me / OT exercises
- Leftover shakshuka for lunch (new recipe & used up all the cherry tomatoes & bell peppers) / pan-fried perch & roasted Brussels sprouts for supper / healthy snacks / limit sweets / 80 oz water / log all food / net calories zero
- Vote in top 8 Coolest Thing brackets / usual M garbage chores / write bday card to Aussie uncle & mail at P.O. (hope it arrives on time Nov. 13) / write thank you to ex-roomie for gifts / continue analysis notes for discussion w/ ins. agent Fri / put away clean pots & pans / make some recipe to take to folks tomorrow? / pack for overnight trip / read / digital declutter / other?
- Kitty B12 shot 3:40 / choir rehearsal 6:30 / Dodgers v Brewers 7:08 in NL championship series game 1 (have tv on station before I leave)
