Today is my 10 year streak anniversary on MFP. I have lost 80 pounds. It took me about a year to lose and I have been in maintenance for about 9 years. I also started running 9 years ago. (I looked back and 9.25.2016 was the date I started C25K.) I don't really like to brag on myself, but I am very proud of myself for losing the weight, keeping it off, and developing healthy habits. This group has helped me stay motivated and accountable, so I give y'all some of the credit for my success.
CONGRATULATIONS @kgirlhart on your 10 year milestone! You’re so consistent and dedicated to your running! AMAZING!3 -
Great running @kgirlhart. Congrats on your 9 years of a healthier you! That's awesome.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
You can do it @TheMrWobbly !
I agree @WarmJellyfish . Sometimes I really want it and other days I think I am okay with where I am. Therein lies part of my problem.

Oct 1: .3 mi (work), 3.9 mi (incline)
Oct 2: .3 mi (work)
Oct 3: 2.5 mi (jog)
Oct 6: .3 mi (work), 1.3 mi (jog)
Oct 7: .3 mi (work), 1.3 mi (jog)
Oct 8: .3 mi (work)
Oct 9: .3 mi (work)Cumulative totals: Walking 5.7 miles, Running 5.1 miles
Was supposed to go for an hour run yesterday after work, but traffic proved an absolute nightmare, turning my usual 90 minute evening commute into a marathon 2.5 hr commute, which got me home just in time to prepare dinner and help my daughter with her homework. No running today either, as I have church choir to get to.
I tell you what, when work allowed me to hit the gym before work, I never missed workouts. But I'm in week 2 of 6 where I need to report to work early, leaving me to workout after work, and my track record has become suddenly wildly spotty. Gah.

Ran 5K today. Thanks @chris_in_cal for asking and keeping me accountable!

I ran 5 miles this morning. It was cool at 49F but the moon was shining brightly. Great running weather! When I got back to the parking lot, I went to stop my Garmin and saw that I had never started it. Oops. It still happened right?

reflux from hell. Meh.
05.10 strength
06.10 4.0km 32min 8:05/km - something
07.10 4.1km 32min 7:54/km - 11x20s faster
08.10 strength
09.10 4.5km 36min 8:06/km - just shite12.51/81km - 10.9km behind
Another *kitten* run. Yesterday I was constantly doing little sprints to check out my new phone issue. Apple is now replacing it. Anyway. Running today didn't work at all. Imagine your ability to run depends on a high heartrate, and then your heartrate doesn't go up properly, your muscles don't get enough oxygen and nothing works. yeah, that's what happened today. I also seemed to have pulled a hamstring doing barbell romanian deadlifts yesterday.4 -
Thank you @quilteryoyo and @daria0919 . I didn't want to post until I knew this was more than a 1 week wonder.
So what was the epiphany @WarmJellyfish ?
3 -
Easy run this evening, HR bit elevated, felt harder than it needed to be.
Runs 5/18. Distance 25km/110km. Weights 3/9

BTW, I barely made it over a week without a kitty. Meet 9 week old Juliet:
11 -
Well aren't you and Ms. Juliet going to be the stars in this month's thread. Super cute.

Nice runs & walks @chris_in_cal, @angf0679, @quilteryoyo, @kgirlhart, @tarun_yadavA, @BigDfromNJ, @Teresa502 (doesn't count, do it again!), @yirara(I hope tomorrow is better for you!), @username301, & @daria0919 (Juliet is a sweetie!)!
No currently signed-up races for me @chris_in_cal, though I'm consider a couple of 10K's in October/November that still have space. At my physiotherapists today, he keeps pushing me to sign up for a Half in the spring ("You run 16K+ for fun, it's only 5K more, do it").
Congrats on loss & maintaining it for 9 years @kgirlhart! That is awesome work and you should be very proud of your accomplishments (& the fact that you continue to add to it)! You are inspiring to me in addition to everyone else on this thread!
You'll find your best way @nossmf; schedule changes can certainly play havoc with the best of intentions.

Woke up to 2⁰ C (it was 28⁰ C just a 3 days ago on Monday!). We had a frost warning this morning, so hopped on the treadmill & ran until the treadmill tripped the breaker (WTF?!). Did not expect that. I must have plugged something else onto that line over the summer, oops!

@nossmf Afterwork workouts are really hard. Hang in there and hopefully you will get back on the other schedule at some point.
Nice run @BigDfromNJ .
Oh no @Teresa502 ! Hate it when that happens!
Sorry your run wasn't the best @yirara and also sorry you pulled a muscle. I hope it just needs a little rest/heat/ice.
You got it done @username301 . Hopefully the next one will be better.
You are doing great @daria0919 . Juliet is ADOR-A-BLE.
@John772016 I thought your physiotherapist wanted you to cut back on your running. You could definitely run a HM if you were so inclined. Nice treadmill run. Not to jynx you, but my treadmill tripping a couple of breakers was the start of a big electrical update for my house this year.

It was 10 degrees cooler today on my run than it was on Monday. I wasn't really planning on running much, but it felt good and I wound up running longer before stopping for a short walk break than I normally do.
The avg pace for the run was 12:20 min/mile. Avg HR was 142 with a max of 159 bpm.
Toward the end of the run, I ran passed a lady that appeared to have walked to the grocery store. She said, "You're getting your exercise in?" Then as I passed her a third time (she just happened to walk down the road I made a short lap on), she said, "It's making me tired just watching you." LOL
I must have looked pretty hot and sweaty when I finished, because a young lady passed me in her car and said, "Ma'am, do you want this water?" as she offered me a bottle of water. I declined, but it was really sweet of her.

Pilates and short run today. My watch didn’t pick me up until I was nearly done so distance and pace were off. Shame, as I was close to my PB. About 10 seconds in it I guess.
3 -
Who could say no to that cute face!
Shuffled through a 5k and it took me over 40 minutes. This is going to be a loooong journey back!
4 -
Morning all.
I got in 5.0M at 10'52 (and lucky 7s for you too!).
@SummerSkier haha.
Learnt over the last couple of years that anything with 08'- is not worth getting a b0ner over, nor is anything with a 11'- worth being ashamed about. All runs are good runs!
So I mix it up!
@daria0919 love the new kitty! 😊
@quilteryoyo love the water story! 😊
@kgirlhart well done on 10!!
@chris_in_cal @TheMrWobbly you guys are killing it!!
@Scott6255 enjoy Atlanta when you go? This wknd right?
Have a lovely wknd all.
5 -
Oh quick one. Americans.
Question.
Anyone flown anywhere recently?
( @Scott6255 ? )
What are the airport lines like?
We have an early AM flight from MIA to Panama next Saturday. Just wondering about how bad the queues might be?
(MIA is pretty awful in terms of being quick anyways).

@Teresa502 it only means you need new shoes!😎
I am up to 36 miles for the month out of 120. I took it a little easy on myself and skipped a few afternoon walks. My RHR is slowly coming down and today it is 60 so I take it as a win. Until I feel like I have really truly recovered I don't like to push things.
@tarun_yadavA praying you are just having a little runny nose😬 and nothing more serious. I mean that 10K was awesome pace.. I think that has happened before to me in that the day before I get ill I have a super charged run. Maybe our bodies are gearing up to fight
@TheMrWobbly welcome back! I love C25K for ramping up slowly and allowing us grace to repeat things as needed. It helped me to start over when I thought I would never run more than 2 miles again. And altho I won't be doing it any time soon again I managed a half marathon distance earlier this year for the first time.
@kgirlhart you are truly one of the inspirations to me! Congratulations on 10 years. 👏👏👏Here's to forever for us all.
Daria - welcome to the little monster! Kittens are such a joy and a terror.
My run yesterday was followed by a bright halo'd moon
@AlphaHowls how is the jaw doing?
5 -
If I got ANYTHING with an "8" I would be eating cake! @tarun_yadavA I haven't flown recently but lately there has been news about the air controllers. Probably just fake but who knows ever anymore.

My October goal is 35 miles.
10/1: 2.42 miles
10/4: 2.50 miles
10/6: 2:58 miles
10/7: 3.25 miles
10/9: 1.25 miles
10/10: 1.58 miles (forgot to stop my watch for a while this morning when I got home) 😆13.58/35 miles for October thus far.
5 -
Haha - thanks @chris_in_cal.
BTW, isn’t it about time we saw an “after” photo of you? You’ve done an amazing job with your weight loss! I’m glad you’re signed up for a HM next year! I’m sure it’ll be a great accomplishment.

@TheMrWobbly simply completing a 5K distance is a job very well done!
I’ve completely given up on what time I get when I’m walking or jogging. With all my “niggles” as many of you refer to them, I’m happy to be upright and walking. Can I hear an “Amen”?
6 -
That's too bad @ContraryMaryMary . Great job on the pace, even if you don't have proof. 😉
@TheMrWobbly Just remember "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." You've already done that hard part.
I thought the lady was so sweet @tarun_yadavA . Great run and 7's! I haven't flown either, but they are reporting delays due to the government shut-down and the air traffic controllers not coming to work. I hope you get through without a hitch.
Beautiful moon @SummerSkier .
You're doing great @daria0919 ! Amen!
1 -
Just a short 2 miles this morning. It was 44F and windy so I actually put on a long sleeve shirt - don't be jealous Texans!
Amen @daria0919 ! And oh what a cutie pie Juliet is!
@kgirlhart - Congratulation on 10 years - you are awesome and amazing!
Safe travels @Scott6255 and @tarun_yadavA ! I haven't flown since the government shutdown but the news has reported major delays at the airports.
@SummerSkier - I have a new pair of shoes under my bed to break out - that has to be the answer!
Good to see you back @MrWobbly!
Great running everyone!
4 -
@tarun_yadavA I am not leaving for ATL until Thursday, and yes I am worried about delays/cancellations due to the shutdown. Hope you have an easy time with your flights
3 -
@rennerkyler tagging you here so you can join us again. We gotta get updates on that clicking knee and new shoes?
1 -
@quilteryoyo haha when I run I sweat like a pig and look like I'm dying! I also don't coordinate my outfits so I look like a running closet pile of random colors! 🤣 But that doesn't stop how great I feel afterwards!! Love the dopamine rush!
7 -
Happy runnings everyone,
Yesterday was the usual evening trail stroll. Was chilly at 11c/52f and moving slowly…. Need to get faster people to join my group… some pics below, evenings are pretty. Soon it'll be 6 months-ish of cold (very cold) dark trail-ness…. I don't really like to use flash/head lights on these trails. Must have been an owl in a past life…😆
@SummerSkier slowly but surely 😉 and I have new shoes on the way…😁
@daria0919 Juliet is so cute!
@TheMrWobbly I realized I don't really have to wait till October of next year to do another race lol 🤔. Good job on the runs, its the consistency that pays off
5 -
in the process of getting shoes doing my research but I feel like the clicking is getting better
4 -
Nice runs & walks @quilteryoyo, @ContraryMaryMary, @TheMrWobbly, @tarun_yadavA, @SummerSkier, @daria0919, @Teresa502, & @WarmJellyfish (great pics!)!
My physiotherapist asked me to cut back on my total mileage but has tried to talk me into a HM for at least my last 4 appointments if not longer @quilteryoyo. That's part of the reason I don't think the issues I'm having are over-training issues.

Frost again this morning, luckily I had cut all my herbs & removed all the peppers yesterday.
Wild temp swings, by this afternoon, it had warmed up about 30⁰ F to a comfy 60⁰ F.
As I had decided to throw a ham in the oven for dinner & didn't want to leave while it was cooking this afternoon, so hopped on the treadmill & watch the nice day out the window.
No bad breaker issues today after making sure nothing else was plugged in on that circuit 🤸♂️!4
