NOVEMBER 2025 Monthly Running Challenge
NOVEMBER 2025 Monthly Running Challenge
WARNING: Following this thread may be addictive; it gets very talkative...miss a day and you can be 50 posts behind. This is the most popular challenge on MFP. If you found us in the middle (or end) of the month, you're still very welcome to join in - no requirements or special invite needed. Once you post, that's it you're in. And yes, we do this every month.
You set your own pace and distance for the month. We will all be doing it together. This is your virtual running group to help keep you accountable, to enjoy a virtual post-run coffee with your fellow runners, and to make new friends and learn a few things.
This is a continuation from the OCTOBER 2025 Monthly Running Challenge which can be found at:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10945890/october-2025-monthly-running-challenge/p1?new=1
Anyone can join in, new and old, and if you found this thread late, you can join in at any time.
We have members ranging from total beginners all the way to Boston Qualifiers and beyond. We are a friendly and encouraging bunch. You never need to be ashamed of your miles. If you are making the effort, you will find only support here.
Here are the details from last month that apply again:
Anybody want to join in for a running challenge? Set a goal here and update us every day. OPTIONAL: You can post your progress by creating a ticker at http://www.tickerfactory.com (if creating one seems difficult, or you're like me and can't be bothered, then just type in your daily miles in this thread).
You can run, walk, or do treadmill - just be consistent. Don't let the high (or low) goals of others intimidate you. Some do 25 miles, others do 50, some go higher than that, some do lower; it's entirely your goal and therefore completely up to you. We help motivate each other, so what do you say? If you're new to running, set a low goal. If you're from a part of the world where miles aren't your thing, log your distances in KMs. And if you'd rather log your progress by time rather than distance, then you're entirely free to do that as well.
Feel free to set your goal now but wait until NOVEMBER 1, 2025 to start logging your runs!
Also, don't forget to join our group which can be found at:

After you run, come into this thread and post what you did (don't forget to hit the bookmark in the upper right corner to bookmark this thread). Simply keep a running tally of what you've done this month and interact with the others. Many folks come in here and chit-chat it up, even on their rest days or while recouping from injury. This is a very social group and we talk about many things (sometimes even about running). It's a very friendly bunch here so don't be afraid to say hi (even if this is your first time), talk about a recent or up-coming race, ask questions, provide answers, or just lurk-n-learn. Participation is what makes this group successful.
Not quite sure how to log your runs? Follow the examples of many other challenge members. Even take a peek at last month's thread (posted above).
OPTIONAL TICKER******
Info on tickers since I know there will be questions. Sign up for an account at http://www.tickerfactory.comandcreate your ticker. Then you need to update it after you finish a run and post it here. Here is what you will need to do.
After setting up your ticker, you will need to make note of the weblink they give you so you can return. An example would be:
http://www.tickerfactory.com/exercise/w6K1EiX/ <<<< the last part will be a part of the image link (explained below) that will be supplied to you after you initially create your link.
When you return to TickerFactory with the weblink, go to your settings page. Make sure you type your PIN in that you set when you created your ticker account. Then, where it says "Your current cumulative value", there is an add button. Simply add the distance that you just did, and the cumulative value automatically changes. Then hit next.
After adding your new miles (or KMs) to your ticker, you need to post it here.
After you hit next, it will give you a bunch of codes suggesting how to display your ticker.
Use the one at the bottom where it says Direct Image URL:
It will look something like:
http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png
To display that correctly in your post, make sure you place the image (img) tags around that link. So it will look something like the following (but removing the spaces in the img tags):
[ img ] http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w6K1EiX/exercise.png [ /img ]
^^^^^^^ Don't forget to remove the spaces between the brackets ^^^^^^^^^^
Some key things to pay attention to when posting your ticker:
Use the link that ends in .png
Remember the [ img] and [ /img] tags go in between the link
Remove the spaces in the img tags before posting
YES, there is a / in the second /img tag
By the way, everyone here should consider themselves a runner no matter how fast or slow. There's no judgment, we all started somewhere. And no comparisons, except with your former self. Don't compare your Chapter 1 to somebody else’s Chapter 20.
“I often hear someone say I’m not a real runner. We are all runners, some just run faster than others. I never met a fake runner.” – Bart Yasso
“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” – Confucius
"We all know that if you run, you are pretty much choosing a life of success because of it.” – Deena Kastor
“Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts.” – Steve Prefontaine
“Get going … walk if you have to, but finish the damned race.” – Ron Hill
"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." - John Bingham
You may see some phrases / words that are unique to our little group when it comes to describing some of our runs. It is a mash-up of words that seem to best describe the way the run felt that day. Here are some examples. Feel free to come up with your own to add to the dictionary 😃
'sleasy' - Slow and Easy
'sneasy' - Slow Not Easy
'scrappy' - mix of Slow and Crappy
'wun' - mix of Walking and Running
'wog' - mix of Walking and Jogging
"injury shuffle" 2x your normal pace, if you are crazy enough to do it
"Crazy Laps!" repetitive short distance laps (think living room/hospital room)
Difference between running and jogging. Joggers find dead bodies. Every news article will always print: 'jogger found dead body', 'out jogging, found a dead body.' Never does it say a 'runner' found a dead body. Only joggers find dead bodies.
'boyfriend run' - 12.1 mins per mile is the perfect 'run date' speed
'girlfriend run' - you better keep up, no matter what the speed
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay on track. Don't look back!

190km for the month

here we are! I am in for 100 running mile this month.. I need to get myself back in gear. It's been a strange year and I feel like I am headed in to a ditch if I don't put my big girl panties back on and move.
@AlphaHowls thank you for setting us up again and leading the way!

Thanks for setting up November for us @AlphaHowls
@SummerSkier - girl you have rebounded from several injuries this year with flying colors. No ditches for you!
I have my half marathon this month and am looking forward to hopefully meeting up with @daria0919 My goal for the month is 100 running miles.

Goals for November:
17 runs / 110km
Run HR Zone 2
Hills!
Intervals (more speedier, less slowerier)
Edit: counting is hard sometimes.

Thanks for setting us up for November @AlphaHowls !
I agree with @Teresa502, @SummerSkier . You did great coming back from your injuries.
I'm going to stick to an 80 mile goal until I get there again. I did great Jan - May. I CAN do it again! I CAN!!!
6 -
Checking in. Not much will happen in November as I'll be traveling to Mauritania and Istanbul for about 2 weeks. Running goal will henceforth be 41km instead of 81.
6 -
Thanks for setting up @AlphaHowls!
I'm going to increase my running goal slightly as I'm also going to slightly increase my cycling goal to match last month at 190km.
Running Goal - 132Km / 82 miles7 -
I started November with a 5k. My back has been playing up over the past week so I really need to do some rolling and stretching before I do too much distance.
The past few months have been slightly down in volume so I’m aiming again for 160km.
9 -
Thanks for setting up November @AlphaHowls!
I’ll be brave and aim for 40 miles this November 🙃Looking forward to meeting up with @Teresa502 in Richmond this month!!!
I’ll message you so we can exchange phone numbers and plan when/where to meet.Let’s see…. Is the current record 2 meet ups by @quilteryoyo in this group? Hoping to tie that - no wait, I believe @tarun_yadavA has had 3 meet ups, @quilteryoyo, me and @TheMrWobbly.
7 -
@daria0919 I do think that @tarun_yadavA holds the record. Enjoy your meet up with @Teresa502 ! Pictures required.

Hi everyone.
Flying out of Miami in a bit. Back to it from Monday!
Gonna go for 130 this month

Thank you for setting up the thread @AlphaHowls
Loving the costume @kgirlhart and just checking you are not making beef wellington for anyone?
I hit my October goals, just, run 43.91 (42.9), walk 63.49 (62.2). I have a week travelling in November so a small increase with more running 54.4, walking 55.0.
Let's have a great month 😀
7 -
Great job with October @TheMrWobbly!
1 -
November goal 40 miles.
11/1: 5.10 miles
I did it! First time I made over 5 miles in one stretch since April 20, 2024 when I ran/walked the 10K race. Not long after that my posterior tibial tendon gave out and my arch dropped. I’ve been in pain ever since, in a boot for many weeks after that, PT, RICE. Fitted arch supports (which still aren’t the best), but I can now walk 5 miles with some pain and burning in the PTT area, but it’ll never get better, so I’ll slog on as is…. 8K race is in 2 weeks 😀
BTW - hubby has also been training to walk the 8K. He’s doing really well. 😀

01.11 6.4km 49min 7:45/km - slow
6.40/50km - 4.8km ahead
First run this month. Not too bad. Didn't go as good as the previous run, but just a tiny bit slower. Drizzle, but surprisingly warm for early November. Not sure how far I'll manage to run this month as I'll be traveling.
Btw, minor meh: I thought I'd run 4 miles, turns out I was 40m short :D5 -
@AlphaHowls Thank you for setting us up. U has amazing miles last month!
I’m in for 60 miles running (and 70 miles in my dreams😅) Hope everyone has a great month!
01/11 3.36 miles run - 10.13 miles bike - 32 min yoga
TOTAL RUN - 3.36 / 60 MILES
TOTAL BIKE - 10.13 / 180 MILES
TOTAL YOGA - 1 / 31 DAYS6 -
Getting on the board with 13 miles for today. It was a chilly 36F but no wind. I took my gloves off and dropped them at the car at 5 miles. Really wish I hadn't as my hands stayed cold for most of the rest of the run. It always takes me a while to convert from warm running to cold weather running.

Thanks for setting us up @AlphaHowls !
I am going to set my goal at 140 miles for November. That is a bit lower than my usual mileage, but my race is on Saturday so this week will be a taper week. I ran this half last year and it was very tough and hilly and I was pretty sore, so the week after might be a light week as well. Adding in the holidays too, we'll just have to see how much running I am able to do.
Congratulations on the 5 miles @daria0919!
7 -
You're doing great @daria0919 . Good luck with the race. I'm sorry your pain isn't going to get any better. Happy that your husband is training to walk the 8K. Amazing.
Nice running @yirara , @Mari33a
Wow. Amazing way to start the month @Teresa502 !
1 Nov - Walked 0.50 miles - Ran 2.60 miles - Driveway and road
3.10/80 miles goal
Mom and I got up early to watch my great nieces play soccer this morning. It was cold and foggy, but the kids wanted us to come, so we did. We were glad we went…kids soccer is fun. Maislee, the little one, scored a goal!
After I got home, I took a nap and then went out for a driveway wun. I wasn't sure how far I would go - was actually planning on only 2, but it felt pretty good, so decided on 35 min running and then walk to make 3.10 miles.
I ran up my nemesis driveway hill every lap, so was proud of that. The avg pace for the run was 13:21 min/mile. Avg HR was 146 with a max of 165 bpm. Splits were 13:43, 13:41, and 12:11 (part of this was on the road).

Oh wow! What a great start everyone is having. 😁
@Teresa502 I hear you on the gloves off and on and cold hands. I broke out the gloves last week and did not regret it. Plus. pockets and kleenex. My nose runs faster than I do most of the time.
@quilteryoyo how adorbs! I love the littlest ones. 😍 I agree it was well worth it to watch them. And congrats on beating the driveway. I understand that feeling.
@daria0919 that is fabulous. I am so excited for you and sometimes it does seems like such a long road and hard to stay the course but you did it!😎
I started the month out strong (i think) with a 5 mile run. I was really tempted to try for more but then I remembered that the last time I did that I ended up with less as I had to take too many recovery days. The morning sunrise skies were fabulous and they were not predicting rain until evening but after I got home it started raining. It was one of those cool and off and on showers and sunshine type of days but a good break from hot and dry.
Crazy sky photo before more showers piled in. Like someone stuck their finger in the clouds and swirled them around.
6 -
@AlphaHowls thank you!
@quilteryoyo cute grandkids!I've been sick the last several days and was only able to manage a short 4 mile TM run yesterday, but I got on the board for November.
Feeling better today ☺️7 -
I ran 3.47M at 12'56 back at my home grounds.
I'll come up with a November goal later on today.
7 -
10km this morning attempting to stay in Zone 2 as long as possible.
Spent first 10mins or so in Zone 2, then crept into Zone 3 & stayed in low Zone 3 despite slowing down. Eventually ended up just annoyed, so I gave up with the HR and upped the pace back to normal.
Spent 25% in Zone 2, 70% in Zone 3
1/17 runs 10km/110km

2 Nov 10K and a couple walks. The weather as 10 of 10 according to my weather ap, but I think the mist was rising as it felt a little damp. I dislike the time change…. a lot….. 11 miles total out of 100 goal.
I can't stay in a low zone Username301 without doing walking so I don't try too much,
5 -
Goal for November: 140 Miles
11/2: 6.25 miles
6.25/140 miles completed for November
Great start to the month everyone! I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was perfect running weather. The sun was shining and it was 52°F with a light wind. I really wanted to run longer, but my race is on Saturday, so I am going to taper. I hope the weather will be like this on Saturday. So far it looks like it should be.
5 -
Thanks @SummerSkier . Great start to the month and love those funky clouds. I, too, strongly dislike the time change..esp this one. I have a hard time when it's dark at 5 p.m.
Thanks @Scott6255 . Glad you are feeling better.
Great run @chris_in_cal .
Nice running @username301 . I have tried running by HR, and still do sometimes. But I have come to realize that there are a lot of things that can affect your HR besides your fitness…how you feel, how you sleep, nutrition, hydration, etc. So, even when I was trying, there were some days that I knew I was just going to have to give it up on the numbers and run by feel.
Great run @kgirlhart . You are going to do great on race day.
1 Nov - Walked 0.50 miles - Ran 2.60 miles - Driveway and road
2 Nov - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Treadmill5.10/80 miles goal
Sunday Rest Day treadmill walk. The wind made it pretty cool outside, so decided on the treadmill.
6 -
Morning all !
Back!
Got in 3.39M at 11'29.
We have belt buckle issues. And that's all I have to say about that
9 -
Be happy you need a belt!
A 3 miler and a 4 miler over the weekend. A good start to the month. Let's see if I can keep up 4 run a month.
6 -
Hahaha @tarun_yadavA . Glad you had a fun, safe trip. Great "recovery" run.
Nice start to November @TheMrWobbly .
1 -
Good morning! I ran 5 miles this morning. Garmin showed the temp was 36F but my car said 46F and it felt more like the temp was in the 40s instead of mid-30s. I tried for a faster last mile, but mile 3 ended up being the fastest.
