Thanks Barbara, he's very reputable and was recommended by several people. I also have three more visits before surgery so I'll be sure to ask. Thanks!

we were on the local news I looked like a wet dog, Kirby, as usual, looked beautiful
146714679 -
Pip ~ You and Kirby both looked great! Congrats on all you do for the cause. Also, the carpet looks great…very soft looking.
Barbie ~ What kind of battery powered blower did you get? I'm thinking I need to get one.
Tracy ~ Would it possible for your MnL to move into the facility where you work? You have been an angel in all you have done to help get her out of that disastrous situation.
Lisa ~ The cardigan you made for your daughter is beautiful. Love the color combinations.
I am feeling a little bit better and must say I am thankful for all who have been kind and thoughtful!

This brings me joy…picture from get together at brother's home. Taken by niece's husband lower left who is 6 '8" tall. He has long arms. Children in front are their children. brother is the gentleman in the back.
Yes the children were being children! Son behind me, sister-in-law next to me!

How cool is that! You two looking awesome!

First night in Fernie was fun. My niece has a new house nestled at the bottom of the ski hill. Beautiful. Had dinner out in town. Tried a raspberry beer which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Today will be a long walk with the dogs then a bike ride this afternoon. Exactly what I love to do on days off.Rebecca- our family does a ranch calendar instead of cards. Originally we made them to give to our horse buying customers but now we give them out to family and friends.
Pip- WOOHOO!! 💥🔥💥🔥Great run!
Allie- loved how you described squishing them 🙂That describes how I feel around my grandkids 🩷
Michele- I have done a baked potato in the sir fryer. Pretty good. The skin gets nice and crisp. I put a little olive oil and salt and pepper on the skin before it goes in. I use our air fryer everyday. Wished I had it when my kids were kids 🙂
Take care of yourselves 💕

Hey, kids,
Just in the usual domestic round of a Monday morning, next is getting my meds put together, making the bed, all the exciting stuff! 😂🐈⬛👀 Not quite 50° outside (10C) still a little too cold to play around out there. Corey and I finally got the carport cleared yesterday, though, and all that's left to do is use the bags of soil I picked up for his garden and my flowers - I got enough to secure the dahlias for the winter, and the same for each of my two big flowerbeds, one on the front of the carport, and one outside of the sunroom - my hugelkultur bed.
Corey used the same for his garden, basically starting out with lots of wood and grass and other cuttings from the area around the house. That's all composted down nearly a foot in his raised bed garden, and needs some good soil added to the top. So there are more than a few bags of soil waiting to be distributed.
For the gardeners, I took a quick snap of his garden, all plastic-covered for the winter, so his last big tomatoes will have time to ripen. He roasted quite a few of them with a pound of tomatillos and lots of garlic, to make six half-pint jars of salsa verde, which will make wonderful chicken wraps and and enchiladas in the dead of winter, and will keep for a couple years, easily. He also bottled up about four gallons of his most recent beer brewing session, now that it's quit burping its way through fermentation.
(The lovely bush to the left of the garden is the very goofy fig that never really knows what season it is - and hasn't figured out yet that it's fall. Still has a hundred figs on it in growing stage that are going to get caught in the first hard freeze. Some day, maybe it will figure it out.🤷🏻♀️👀🥰)
Love being married to a man who knows things. Even bought him a shirt that says - "That's what I do, I fix stuff and I know things."
Talked to my daughter and the grands yesterday, while they were on their way to hike one of the local mountains, something they do on a lot of their weekends. The kids are going to have great memories of Hawaii - much of their earliest memories will be of living and playing there. Love that for them, even as much as I miss them.
My exercise yesterday, rather than being inside on the elliptical, was using the walk-behind mower and getting the ditch and areas bordering the road nicely cut for the winter. The ditch is quite steep, so horsing that thing around had me sweating, even on a 60 degree afternoon! Looks good, though.
On with my day, as I'm sure you're getting on with yours. Hope it's a peaceful Monday for all,
Love from

Hello lovely Ladies,
I’m thinking about you all.
My plantar fasciitis is slowly improving. My back is much better. I think the exercise and extra stretching have been key.
I’m officially a W-2 employee for the first time in over 10 years. The company I’ve happily been contracting to merged with another company and as a result, I have to become an employee. I’m anticipating changes, but I’ve been told nothing will change. Time will tell. I’m mostly worried about losing my independence. I like my schedule the way it is.
A friend is going in for heart ablation surgery today. It’s pretty serious business. They have to punch a hole in one chamber of his heart to get to the other. It’ll be a minimum of 6 hours. Crossing my fingers all goes well.
We had been enjoying the World Series this year. On the last night of the series, game 7, the final game that promised to be exciting, we had a play to go to. So, we planned to avoid all news and watch it on Sunday morning. Well, during the play, one of the actors blew it for us. He actually told us how it ended. The mister got up and walked out. I followed behind shortly. That was just cruel and insensitive. I’m waiting until I get a request to review the play and will make note of that.
Allie—I want to squish your grandkids too. Their personalities seem to come out so well in photos.
Tracey—You’re doing such a good thing for your MIL.
Annie—How are you?
Kim—Nice that things with your eye are improved.
Lisa—I’m jealous you have a fig tree. We have a neighbor with one right by the sidewalk. They just let the figs fall to the ground. I wish they’d offer them up and I’d go get them! A lot of neighbors share their fruit, but for some reason, that one does not.
Heather—Your cruise looked wonderful. I looked up Cadiz and perhaps will put it on the list when we plan our Portugal trip.
Melanie—One thing I definitely do not miss about living in the Midwest (and right next to a cow pasture) are the flying bugs. You all can keep them. I guess I’ll put that on my “things I’m thankful for living in Southern California” list today. I’m trying to be more grateful to be here as I pay my property taxes and watch the cost of my groceries skyrocket every week.
Just as an aside, I read that it cost 44% more than the national average to live here. sigh But we have very few flying bugs.
Have a wonderful week.

😀 Carol, the leaf blower was ordered through Amazon The manufacturer is Greenworks
You have to order a battery and a battery charger as well. I also have a lawn mower and a hedge trimmer that all use the same battery. Jake ordered an extra battery so if you work long enough to use up one battery, you'll have a second one to use while the first one is recharging. So far I haven't worked that long in any session. I figured out the mower and the leaf blower on my own but had to watch a YouTube video to figure out the hedge trimmer.
😀 Barbara, the author I told you about is Ellie Alexander. Her books are set in Ashland, Oregon., Leavenworth, Washington and the recreation areas along the Columbia River in Northern Oregon. They are all cozy mysteries.
😀 Pip, I watched the video and thought you looked great. We are all our own worst critics.
I'm home from my morning walk—just over 10,000 steps.. Got to talk to the other early morning walkers. There are fewer of them now that it's colder. Listened to a podcast about intentional living. Always get some good ideas.

Pip - good job on the marathon! Loved the news clip. You and Kirby both looked beautiful. Are you sure you're not 30? Looks like you had nice weather - you moved to a super area for outside activities. We actually had chilly sunshine here yesterday afternoon. Monsoons will be returning with some flood warnings this week.
Rebecca - thank you for sharing your weight loss chart. Fun to see the progress you've made, and very motivating. Grands very adorable in their Halloween costumes.
Allie - wonderful photos of SMiles and Delia. He loves his little sister, you can tell. 🤩 Has any of your medical team advised doing some very light strength training to maybe build up your muscles? Maybe you need to keep your protein low still because of that kidney.
Heather - looks like John had a nice birthday with the grands there. Can he believe he's 80? Hope your knee is getting better.
Lisa - great job on that new Afghan. Colors and design are very nice. Your latest sweater is awesome too, as usual.
Carla - I'm at the beginning stages of cataracts too, I think most folks my age (in our 70's) are. Not bad enough to have surgery, but the glare and poor night vision are a problem. Good luck.
Melanie - sounds like you are having a good time with your sis. I've never been around a full grown Schnauzer. Glad Rosie is a mini and tops out at 14 lbs, that's enough for me, lol.
Barbara - glad to hear you're able to get back doing some activities you enjoy with your "rear end" trouble easing, lol.
Carol - happy you are doing better. My DH got his leaf blower from Home Depot - Ryobi, which is popular. It also has several different tools that use the same battery like Barbie's. I found out my hands are too small to "pinch" the apparatus that removes the spent battery in the Ryobi. So I ended up with a Stihl leaf blower and string trimmer, which is designed a little differently and easy to remove. You might want to investigate this by visiting some stores/shops and checking this out, especially if you have small and/or weak hands. Barbie's Greenworks might be just fine, I know it's a popular brand.
T and her DH stopped by yesterday, he got the mower winterized (battery dead so put it on the charger) and the generator didn't want to start. He finally got that working. I asked him what he did and said used some strong cuss words. 😁 It's a nice little Honda but I told him I don't know what I'd use it for. Not only do I not have the strength to pull the cord if it's going to be cranky, I cannot lift the blamed thing. Roger could help I guess. I'm not new to power outages - if the power goes out, just don't open the fridge and freezer. And if it's going to be out for a week, a generator wouldn't help anyhow. Snaking an extension cord into the kitchen through the window when it's cold and rain out and pulling the fridge out of its cubby to plug it in doesn't sound appealing.
Anyway, Lucky was in their SUV acting like his normal Jack self, no T shirt, oblivious to the staples and drains in his side. They got him as a rescue, age estimated to be 10 and he still acts like he's 2. I'm grateful that Rosie, who'll be 9 this April, is starting to show her age a little and sleeps a lot more. Don't know that I could ever deal with a puppy again. Maybe another schnoodle like Sophie.
How's everyone's pets doing with the time change? I was getting sleepy by 6:30 last night, made myself stay up until 7 (my brain thought it was 8). Rosie went to bed at 5:30. Anyhow my eyes popped open at 1:30 this morning, made myself stay in bed until 2, got up, fed Rosie, kind of napped in the recliner. At 4:00 Rosie wanted me to get up and throw her toys like I normally did at 5. Repeat of last year, lol.
I see a bunch of posts just came in - did a spot run through, wanted to comment, but have to get a few things done around here first. I'll be back.
Make it a wonderful week, ladies

MFP Weekly Check-In 11-3-25
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - same weight at the past few weeks.
Sue in WA - Last week went well. Made it to chair yoga and water exercise. I averaged 6300 steps per day and made my goal of 7500 steps on 2 days. I ate way too much sugar and salt last week and it shows in a half pound gain. Need to drink a lot of water this week.
Lanette in SW WA State - Weight has stayed in the 162-163# range for over a month now, from a higher average of 167-168# this summer. Average last year at this time was 158-159#, so glad it’s stabilized. Steps avg. this past week: 7735, up from last week. No more walking outside right now. Still house walking after most meals, carrying weights. Back to SWSY twice a week.

Thanks friend! Crunching the numbers keeps me at this!
The time change isn't too noticeable. At 5 pm we were like "ooop the day is gone" though. Husband woke up at 5:00am instead of his normal 4:30 am though. When we left for the gym it was brighter out. Husband worries he is going to hit a sailor, all of them in their dark camo uniforms, its hard to spy them!
Mailed 8 pen pal letters, I've been busy!
Started on my Christmas cards, still need to write the newsletter though. Might do some colored lights around the newsletter. That is fun to color! Again if any of you wish to exchange cards, feel free to hit me up in private chat. I have most of your addresses though.🙃💖

Rebecca - Well done on the weight! Don't forget to focus on yourself, and how you feel, too, as well as that number. So pleased for you.
Allie - The grands look wonderful and yes, very squishy… How are you feeling today?
Lanette - Egg was yelling at the door at 3:45, because in her head, that meant Corey should be up and getting ready for work. I went right back to sleep for another three hours… 👀🤷🏻♀️🐈⬛🐈⬛
Pip - Congrats - you and Kirby look great!
Melanie - Enjoy your time with family, stay safe!
Tina - Always good to see you - what a horrible thing for that actor to do at the play! Well done for walking out.
The house smells wonderful, made an easy spaghetti meat sauce with a half pound of fresh mushrooms. Corey's not fond of eating them, but likes the flavor, so he'll pick them out. I love them, they make me very happy.
He's already called to say he's on his way, so once he gets here, I'll start the pasta. I think I'll let him and Egg walk the yard for their evening stroll without me. We had a lot of togetherness this weekend… 😍

Barb – I’m sure J&C will help with the Christmas decorations. C already told me that when they get their own place (who knows when that’ll happen) Jess wants him to put up lights. I just laughed and said “Vince will give you pointers”.
Oh, Tues is going to be a sad, sad, day. We’re going to close the pool. In one way, it’ll be good. Jess has wanted to use the spa, but the heater has to be on for quite a while to get the water warmed up and that translates into higher electricity bills. So no pool...no spa
pip – you and Kirby looked wonderful!
Melanie – this is the first time I’ve even HEARD that you can make a potato in the air fryer. Have you ever cut the potato in half and then air fried it? It put it in for over an hour, but then again, the potatoes were BIG
Tina – will your friend be awake for his ablation? Vince was awake for his. Before they started the operation, he said “one thing I don’t want to hear is “oops””
Lanette – I don’t see the time change bothering the cats/dog. I usually go to bed around 1030 but last night I got sleepy around 9:30
The deck passed inspection!

Michele—No, our friend was under anesthesia. He’s out of surgery, but they’re keeping him overnight.
Pip—Great run! Congrats! We are not handling the time change well. I didn’t sleep at all. Too much darkness also makes me grumpy.
I'm not sure what we’ll do in the evenings now that baseball is over.
Snacks (our neighbor’s cat) left us a present, right in front of the patio door where we let him in and out. I’m glad he caught it and thankful for his gift, but I’m looking forward to tossing it into the canyon after he departs.Tina in CA

What brings me joy?
I missed this last night, currently being pain free brings me joy, but in all seriousness having my family around me brings me the most joy. I enjoy many crafts.
I also find joy in the simple things. I love a country drive, being out in nature, a gorgeous sky and a hot bath.Carol - My MIL wouldn’t qualify for the care in our home at this time. Except for her leg issue, which causes her pain and makes her walk unsteadily she is in OK health. She does have congestive heart failure, but except for being tired from it is ok.
If and when the time comes I would definitely put her on the list for there.Melanie - I agree about wishing I had an air fryer when my girls were young. It’s so convenient.
Lisa - The little fig tree that could!I’m with Corey on the mushrooms, not a fan!
Tina - I am struggling with the time change as well.
The POA is in a courier to the lawyer to be notarized and enacted. We should have it back by Thursday!
Found out tonight that my MIL’s jewelry mother’s ring and family ring has been “missing” for a while now. Everything I learn just shocks me more and I don’t know how it can at this point.
I have lost 17lbs since the first of the year, but really the loss started after March when I started the HRT. I weigh today what I weighed in 2018 at Kaitlyn’s wedding. I’m quite happy with it.
Tomorrow is another day.
I’ll be glad when this is all done, but feel that the worst is yet to come. I’m nervous about it all.Tracey in Edmonton

Tracey - Many hugs, dear heart. This kind of ongoing situation can have you constantly looking under every rock for whatever horrible squirminess is under the next one. One of my Mama's favorite things to say when I said something similar was "Don't trouble trouble." Pretty much saying, deal with what you already know, and try not to anticipate what bad thing will pop up next. That POA completion will do wonders for how you feel. The rest, well, you know you're strong enough to deal with it, because you already did. My stars, woman, you kidnapped your mother-in-law and took her halfway across the country right under their noses! You're kind of amazing. 🐈⬛😍🥰
I did almost nothing yesterday, but woke up ouchy and sore—in the South, we called it "having a crick in your neck." Just ouchy. It will pass.
Need to check on the bank account and the bills this morning, make sure everything's up-to-date. Got about six things on the project list, none of which are urgent.
What brings me joy? My husband. Egg. This place. My kids. Life in general. If I died today, I could say the same thing we said about my Mama—she died happy, doing what she loved. It's a platitude, but it's real enough, for her and would be true now for me. I spent decades of my life in situations where that would not have been true. It's a good place to be in my head.
(Edit to add: Well, if I died today, I couldn't say it, because I would be dead, but every else could! 👀😂🤷🏻♀️)
Hope it's a grand day…
Love from Arkansas,
Lisa6 -
That's what I found too, Lanette. Can't STAND the glare and I'm actually getting more and more afraid to drive at night. Since Freddy's beyond driving at night; one of us has to and I want to, it's me and I'm okay with that.

🌞 The darkness doesn't bother me. I like the gradual changing of the seasons. The dogs will go out to do obligatory business in the dark. They are more affected by routine so as long as we do things in the right order they are fine. I like walking in the dark so as the seasons change, I get to enjoy different light for my walk. The dark discourages a lot of the walkers in my neighbourhood except for a few who stick to a schedule.
🌞 Carol, when you get a leaf blower or other yard tools, be sure to look on You Tube for videos about to assemble them or how to use them,. When I was looking on You Tube yesterday to see if there were videos about the leaf blower (I wanted to know before I suggested it to you), I found a video for the Greenworks power washer that I have but haven't used.
🌻 There are still a few sunflowers in my yard standing tall.

Did some shopping in the town of Fernie yesterday after a one hour dog walk then a total body strength workout. Found a few Christmas presents and some treats for my crew. The candy store had pop rocks which I haven't seen in forever. Excited to see what my grandson thinks of them. Found cow tails too which we both love.
Today is a bike ride then we'll head back to my sister's in Calgary. The anxiety is building about staying with my dad for a couple of days. Trying to calm myself through breathing.
Tina- we at least get a bug reprieve through winter… except for the ones that have managed to hide somewhere in the house 😬
Michele- I put them in at 400F (preheated) and find they take about 45 minutes. When I do them in the oven I go 350 for 90 minutes so it saves me some time and I like how crispy they get in the fryer.
Take care of yourselves 💕
