Thank you so much! You're correct that I'm mostly posting for myself, but if my rambling is also helping others that's fabulous! I've learned over the years that stream of consciousness rambling is one of the most helpful tools for me if I need to work through or figure something out. Doesn't matter if that something is emotional or intellectual, and this seemed like a logical place to do it considering the topic.
Right now I have the opportunity (sarcastic) to berate myself for eating more than I should've at lunch. Definitely more than I'd intended to. But I also have the opportunity to be happy that I still ate less than I **wanted** to, emotionally, in the moment. Feels more helpful to take the second option and use it as something to build on, so that's what I'm going to do.

I did my first swim yesterday. It's been at least 15 years, probably more like 20. I managed 150 m, the first 50 with a kickboard in case my joints said "absolutely NOT" somewhere in the middle of the pool, but my body felt ok with it so I ditched it after that. Fitness will come. I've also signed up for a "dynamic stretch and flow" class after work on Monday. It's drop-in, but members can sign up up to a week in advance of each session to reserve a spot. Again, the one week at a time format lets me see how my body feels about it without having made a longer-term committment if it says no. My weight is up today, but I know at least some of it is DOMS.

The class I tried on Monday wasn't a good fit for my limitations. Noted. It also meant my dinner was later than usual, so I decided to grab something small on the way home.
Walked into a convenience store. Picked up a packet of trail mix. Put back the packet of trail mix. Bought a cup of raw veggies (skipped the dip) and munched on them while waiting for the train.
I'm calling that a win.
