    11/12-182.0 βœ… (Trend Weight: 183.1) My food plan was good yesterday and no sugar drops. I had switched my lighter meal to night and my heavier meal midday and that did not work for me. I switched them back. Yes, it means I lay down for bed & tv with more calories unprocessed, but it helps (so far) with the glucose. I got kicked off my exercise bike last night after 22 minutes by my son, but that’s okay because he definitely needs to lose weight more than me. While he did his spinning I made our 9:30 pm dinner then read 3 chapters of my book club book (meeting is Monday). I’m a little behind on the reading. I also got some house cleaning in which got me up off my retired derriere. I mainly worked on the 2nd floor so there were lots of extra stairs yesterday. The 2nd floor mainly belongs to my DGS and he will be back tomorrow to nice smelling freshly washed sheets and blankets and all his crumbs vacuumed up. He will be turning 8 on November 29th s so he is still at an age where he appreciates everything. Those teenage years aren’t here yet!

    πŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒ 11/13-183.4 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.2) Eyes popping out of head over here, arms crossed, brows furrowed. I did have an extra small snack last night but then got back on exercise bike for another 30 minutes (for a total of 75 minutes). You can’t outride the fork. Meals were on target and I got in lots of extra steps and movement with more housecleaning and organizing. This is a shock and a disappointment. Bad sleep (again) probably played into this as well. The neuropathy has been horrible in my feet the last few nights and there is just no getting past it. My fitbit readiness level showed 18 out of 100 today which is very low. DD and DGS will be back later this afternoon. We also have the book fair at 6:00 pm at school for DGS.

    πŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒπŸ¦ƒ 11/14- DNW ↔️ (Trend Weight: DNW) No Weigh Friday for me. Today was still a school day for my DGS so up I was for the bus, as usual. Normally school is cancelled for opening day of hunting in our schools and all the surrounding counties’ schools but this year the 15th is on a Saturday so the kids don’t get that break. Obviously, most everyone hunts here so it is a big deal that the kids can go with their parents. (Yes, many of the women hunt too, even bow hunting). The kids take junior hunting courses available in the area first as it’s required. It’s a big weekend for our tiny town. Traffic will be heavier and we will have to wait in lines at stores, restaurants and other such things we are not used to. Most people stock up on what they will need before this week begins. I try to be one of them. I’m not sure what me, DD and DGS are doing this weekend yet. Hopefully no travel. We pass a lot of woods and a national forest or two in much of our travels. I often wonder if a bullet could come whizzing out toward the road on a fluke. I was born & raised in the city so I think very differently than my neighbors.

    I think a 5 pound loss is achievable.

    I’m absolutely stunned by my weight gain this week. I cannot figure it out. For the first time in months, I added exercise to my life. I’ve been alternating going to the gym and swimming in the pool this last week. I have been trying to carefully log what I eat and counting calories. I have allowed myself less calories than previous attempts at weight loss. In the last seven days, I’ve only ever eaten one day by about 5 to 600 calories. I should not have gained weight even if I didn’t lose.
    The exercise has been really difficult for me, but I’ve been doing it. I’ve started off small but make sure I do 30 minutes of cardio in the gym plus weight resistance or 30 minutes of non- stop swimming in the pool.
    The previous week I lost weight. Then, I tried to tighten things up by adding exercise and consistently counting calories. It seems to have been a disaster.I added weight training as my doctor warned me that I will lose muscle while losing weight if I don’t. I won’t give up, but it is really discouraging to see that number on the scale.

    @Melwillbehealthy Usually new exercise will bring on DOM. You can look up the effects of this but it usually includes swelling which will show up on the scale. Your body will adjust and the scale will improve over time. Hang in there! You doing all the right things!

    @ozdeelite Nearly every single time you eat under 1400 calories, you show a loss. You are crushing it right now, my friend. It's working!

Last night I was brought a carry out appetizer from a restaurant about 2 Β½ hours away from my oldest DD. I hadn’t been to that restaurant since she graduated from college a couple of years ago. Wow, so good and something we’ve never found anywhere else. I also didn’t exercise. So I was over on calories by about 250, Way Over on my carbs and no exercise. Otherwise, could I have dipped my toe into the 170’s? I guess we’ll never know. Today I am STARVING which happens after a drop (3.2 lbs in 2 days!). I’ve got to plan wisely as my mind is already wandering to things like Pizza. Hang in there Donna!

    My continuing goals: Drink more than 64 oz of water, 25+ grams of fiber, and 100+ grams protein.

    I'm going to try to get at least three days of activity, mixing strength and walking/jogging.

    @Melwillbehealthy Im the same - it’s actually common for your body to gain when you start exercising. Give yourself time to adjust. The loss will come if you persist.

    Hi all. Been a very lazy 3 weeks with no exercise- last time I exercised it bought on a severe flare up of fatigue which I’m only just recovering from. So next week I will exercise.

    @deepwoodslady thank you for your encouraging words. Sorry, but, what is DOM? I’m unfamiliar with that acronym. It’s funny you mentioned swelling as I’ve noticed it a lot in my legs. I thought it would go down as I started to lose weight, but it hasn’t.

    @ozdeelite I can’t and won’t give up! I’m at a point in my life where I must lose weight and gain strength. Life isn’t fun right now. Trying to make it better by improving my health.

    11/16- 257.9 I stepped on the scale later today to give myself the best chance.

    @Melwillbehealthy DOMS is generally delayed onset muscle soreness. For me it's generally muscle pain and water retention while the muscles repair themselves.

Last night I was brought a carry out appetizer from a restaurant about 2 Β½ hours away from my oldest DD. I hadn’t been to that restaurant since she graduated from college a couple of years ago. I’ve got to plan wisely as my mind is already wandering to things like Pizza. Hang in there Donna!

I slept over 6 hours last night which was probably because it was only 2 hr 53 minutes the night before. I was hoping for a small change today on the scale that would allow me to dip my toe into the waters of the 170’s. However, no change today from yesterday except my trend weight down a tiny bit more. I’m feel like I’m working tooth and nail for and clawing my way to get to those illusive 170’s. While I would love for it to just drop in my lap, it doesn’t happen that way, does it? I’m just another soldier marching on. Let’s keep going!

I envision the scene of Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in β€œIt’s a Wonderful Life” as George & Mary Bailey (before marriage) dancing to and from that line that opens to the pool. Legs dangling over the edge, poised to fall in, over and over. And they absolutely do. And I will too. Likely many times. However, I’ll try not to focus on the water but, like them, enjoy the dance. I’m so happy today I could scream! I’ve looked over my records for the past (many) years and traditionally I gain 2-4 pounds just in November alone. And then there is December….
