I am challenging everyone to kick the resturant/ drive through habit for the next 30 days. We started today, and healthy lunches are all packed and ready to go for tomorrow. When I have cleaned up my eating in the past not only has there been improvement on the scale but also in my general well being. Just makes your whole body feel better.
Anyone wanna try it with me?:flowerforyou:

I'm in. I've got about a week's start already. i decided I could take all the money I usually spend out on food and coffee drinks and buy really good groceries for probably half the cost and be far better off. I can't believe how my tastes are changing of late and what I just ate after yoga class and thoroughly enjoyed. I usually am starving (it's a 90 minute class in 105 degree room) after class and buy a cold mineral water drink ($3.00) at the studio and then stop and get something to eat on the way home....healthy but usually at least $6 and often way more. Plus I usually have one coffee drink out a day for $2-3 a day. So I figure I've saved anywhere from $11 to $16 a day for a week already not doing those things....plenty of money to help add more buy healthy ingredients to the refrigeator and pantry to cook with.
But tonight i was incredibly hungry after class. Didn't think i could wait to cook and knew I really needed protein. I was out of apples to make tuna waldorf with, I was out of my soy mayo, etc. etc. Anyway, in a bit of a panic, I I ended up rinsing a can of garbanzo beans, adding a can of tuna in water (drained), adding some thinly sliced baby carrots, 1/4 cup mix of chopped walnuts and orange flavored cranberries, drizzled with a little bit of orange juice i had, flavored it with tumeric (sp? and celery salt and then tossed it all in a tablespoon of low fat honey mustard dressing. THEN I DIVIDED IT ALL IN HALF AND PUT HALF AWAY FOR TOMORROWS LUNCH and I swear I felt like I had just gone out for a lobster dinner it tasted so good.
thanks for the challenge.0 -

I'm in. For me, when ever I change my eating, things go great and I lose weight. Then, I get lazy or something and start justifying the drive through because I am getting something healthy. That's the beginning of the end, every time!
And, that garbanzo bean thing sounds really good!:happy:0 -
I think what I'm discovering is this is going to take even more planning and pre-prep of meals on my part. Usually if i DO eat out, it's because I've waited too long to eat and need food NOW. I think I need to pack some emergency food in my car. I didn't eat out today but I came really close. I actually drove into a restaurant parking lot and started to get out of the car to get something to eat and changed my mind. it was touch cause i had a meeting to go to in an hour and I was really hungry. I drove home, made a quick peanut butter sandwich and ran back out to the meeting. I need to have better food ready for the next time this happens.0
