Extremely picky eater

I need some help with food selections. I am the pickest eater out there. I can't stand most fruit and vegetables. I do love chicken and meats..Only vegetable ill eat is corn and u can probably get me to eat strawberies and bananas here and there. I don't like salad, I hate yogurt. Trust me I have tried them in hopes my taste buds have changed, but they haven't. Can anyone help me with suggestions?

I eat pasta sauce = tomatoes?
Green beans like french style are the next thing I can stand next to corn.

Sneak them in your food? I add onions to everything and spinach. Also zucchini when I bake0

It is hard, but try new healthy foods. Cut out junk and fat. Your appitite will change, but it is slow. Your body will soon crave what it needs.0

Get the cook book "Deceptively Delicious". It's intended to be for parents with picky kids but I suspect it would also work on you too. It takes various meals and "sneaks" veggies into them. Obviously you'll know they're there but it's actually pretty impressive what you can put into food and not realise it's there if it's mashed up and mixed with stuff you do like.0

I'm a picky eater but not that bad. I basically had to make myself learn to like things if I wanted to get healthy. I have always hated vegetables other then corn. Now I will eat them daily. I get the frozen bag of veggies that you can steam in the microwave, they taste better that way. Then I add "I can't believe it's not butter spray" and a little salt and I will eat it up. It's the only way I will eat veggies. I love most fruits so no problem there and I like yogurt too. What about carrots, a good snack is carrots and ranch or carrots and hummus. I love apples and grapes so those are my main snack items. I usually add some peanut butter to the apples. I like lettuce so I eat that a few times a week, my go to lately has been chicken. Basically any meat is good as it's full of protein and no carbs. I do pork chop, hamburger, tacos, chicken, you name it. what about cottage cheese, eggs? Honestly if you don't like that much stuff it's going to be pretty hard.0

i am also a fussy gal i love strawberries but don't like any other fruit the only veg i will eat is potato i don't like much meat either i have survived on pasta cheese an pizza.
i can however eat soup liquidized or fruit smoothies could you maybe try these?0 -

Im going to agree 150% with this...
Are you willing to let yourself be this picky over foods that could actually make you healthier, lose weight and get the variety that your body needs? Or are you willing to continue to be part of the problem? Food is only 10% of getting weight off and being healthier... you are the 90% it needs to complete the equation and to be successful.
Corn is a grain, by the way.. not a vegetable.
Women especially needs the vital nutrients that vegetables have to offer. Some fruits are more healthier than others. The heartier the grain the better for you (low glycemic producing)...
Instead of contributing to the problem, you can be the solution!!!!

In the nicest way possible, suck it up and eat your vegetables.
Rather than just steaming foods, I toss them in EVOO, add some S&P and roast them in the oven - sweet taters, fresh green beans, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower. Worst case scenario, bread them in egg and bread crumbs before throwing in the oven (you'd really only use 1/2 a serving of breadcrumbs per serving of veggies). Lather them in cheese if that's what it takes to get you to START eating them!
Dip in peanut butter, hummus, Laughing Cow wedges, heck, even ranch dressing!0 -
I read somewhere that you can "teach" your taste buds to like something if you eat a tiny bit of it every day. So maybe if there's a food you reeeeeaallllly want to like, you can try this. I really hated olives but I bought a jar, forced one down every day, and although it was revolting to start with after about a week I started to tolerate them and now I almost really like them0

I am a picky eater also. I refuse to eat vegetables because they are nasty. You can achieve weightloss and a high level of fitness without eating 'healthy' foods.0

Not sure id categorize potatoes in the veg column.
Generally though I think lots of Americans dislike veggies because they come canned or overcooked too often. So look for food porn with a veggie you're willing to try and then follow the recipe.
Or just stay how you are. Maybe with a multivitamin if you don't already. Change or don't are the options.0 -
For some people it does take time to incorporate new foods and change their diet for the better. The thing you have to keep reminding yourself is you HAVE TO do this. Your body needs balanced nutrition.
If you can't commit to making better food choices for yourself than you are accepting the fact that you will never properly feed your body.
This lesson literally took my wife years to learn. When I met her she ate nothing besides Kraft mac 'n cheese and chicken fingers.
She took slow steps, incorporating new fruits, vegetables, and other foods in slowly. Now, if I were to tell her I'm making quinoa with roasted squash, zucchini, and mushrooms for dinner she would not only eat it, she would be excited.
My point is, you CAN do it. You are choosing not to. Take it slow, one new food at a time, you'll see.
Just think about how much better you will feel. That should be motivation enough to choke down a few brussels sprouts. (Tip: dip them in ketchup if you have to the first few times.)0 -

Yep. Now that I eat local, organic veggies, my taste buds are extremely happy. The taste difference is phenomenal. I like to stir fry them, or lightly steam or a trillion other ways to eat veggies...

go get yourself some Naked brand green machine juice put 1/2 cup of it in a blender with 1/2 a banan 4 frozen large strawberries and a handful of raw baby spinach.
This will be a good low calorie snack, chug it if you have to but its sweet tasting and I think youll like it. it will look greenish and not very yummy so it helps to put it in a dark colored non see through cup.
It will provide you with most of your fruit/veggies for the day. You can switch up the fruit and do frozen blueberries, pineapple etc play around with it. This is what I do to get in the fruit/veggies0 -
I'm utterly amazed at how many people are just telling the OP to suck it up and eat what is clearly not appetizing.
Statements of that nature are what cause people to up and quit their weight loss journey.
One thing I'm sure many of us can agree on is this isn't a diet it's a lifestyle and if you force yourself to do things against your own nature chances are you're setting yourself up for failure.
Now that being said, you stated the few fruits and veggies and grains you do like, try having more of them in a fresh rather then processed manner, you can save youself a bunch of calories and sodium by using frozen or fresh foods and staying away from processed foods.... You'd mentioned chicken, this is a great "diet" food... It's typically low in fat, high in protein and 90% of the ways you can prepare it no carbs. Buy Fresh Chicken, stay away from chicken patties or nuggets because from the anatomy I've seen of a chicken they don't have patties or nuggets naturally LOL.
As for the Fruits and vegetables. If you know what you like do some research find ones that might be similar and promise yourself you'll try one new fruit or vegetable a week. You might surprise yourself. Look for recipes that don't add a ton of fats or sodium but seem like they might add a ton of flavor. I recommend boiling and mashing up cauliflower, add a tiny bit of milk salt and butter for taste... it really does taste just like mashed potatoes if you happen to like them
The sky is the limit and feel free to use your imagination, it's amazing what people come up with.

You have your way and other people have theirs. Not all people need to be coddled. Sometimes a swift kick in the *kitten* is needed. If I were to have posted this topic, I would want blunt, honest answers AND helpful hints and alternatives. With the mix of people here, she got all the above. Toughen up buttercup! ;P0 -

If you were picky about only eating healthy food, it wouldn't be a problem.
If junkfood was good for you, it wouldn't be a problem.
If you are choosing NOT to make better food choices, you're pretty much choosing not to change.
Not changing means being content with being complainy, unfit and unhappy.
We're all speaking from experience.
And basically saying, it's time to change your old ways, cause clearly that wasn't working.
Habits need to change, playa.

First off, WOW I wish I would have never posted this. I thought I could get any ideas to try. I was very open and just wanted a listening ear. I could've dealt with how most people did say to just try it and keep at it and I would like it...Why does everything have to be harsh?? I thought this was about encouragement. I'll never post another thing on here to get such crude comments. First off I gained weight after my kids. I gained like 15 lbs. So do not tell me my picking eating got me this way!! I have been at 135 and I'm 29 and only gained it after like last kid. So please do not tell me it is because Im a picky eater. I just wanted help on healthy alternatives thats all. Just a bunch of rude people/. Thanks but no thanks to all u rude people.0

I never said to not make better food choices. In fact I outlined several ways to make better food choices that fit within what she's stated she already likes.
However, telling someone they will fail if they don't eat more vegetables is utter BS. My Diary is public, I have lost 30 pounds in 75 days, by eating mostly meats, with very few vegetables and once a week I eat well over 4000 calories of mostly junk food. I do however strength train 3 to 4 days a week.
This place is to help people make better choices and not condemn them because they don't like too many veggies or yogurt.
As for the porch, I'm not on the porch anymore either, this place has changed my life but not from snarky comments about sucking it up.0 -

Do you eat beans?
Do you eat tofu?
Perhaps if you were comfortable sharing what you *will* eat, it will be a better focus for you to work with?
