I want to wear tights to the gym as they are just so comfortable and not as expensive as gym gear... Is this okay?

I wouldn't see why not. It really depends on your shape more so than just being "overweight".0

I've been told not to return in tights.0

I feel like tights would get itchy after sweating on the machines... Maybe try it on a walk and see how it feels?0
-
most definitely it is acceptable.. if I had tights I would wear the hell out of them to the gym lol0
-
It depends. I think only with some shorts over them. Alone not so much0

I wear tights when I run because my thighs rub together in gym shorts and can be rather uncomfortable, but I do put a pair of shorts over them to cover my bum. I probably look silly but it works for me.0

Depends on your gym's rules. If they are comfortable and the gym has no rules against it then go for it. The gym is supposed to be a place where you go to work on yourself, not a beauty pageant or a place you go to hook up.0

YES
i work out at the YMCA and there are tons of people in 'tights' or tight clothing.
i personally dont buy expensive 'gym' clothes..i just use cheap gym shorts and a t shirt from wal mart0 -
Just don't wear too-small tights. I was sitting on a train once, and a girl standing in front of me was wearing tights as pants, and the size was too small, they spread too thin, and it was like staring at her naked booty. And it was a crowded train... so it was right in my face. As long as you get 'em in the right size, go for it. I like wearing my spandex pants to the gym.0

I do. ^_^
I have a pair that calf length with lace at the bottom. I just wear a little bit longer of a shirt to help cover the rump a little.0 -
Personally, I vote against it. Yoga pants are great though0

Anything that keeps sweat from flying.0

I dare u.0

Agreed. Some of them are see thru, like leggings. Please don't do that.0

If it's all tight, it's alright,
I always say.0 -
I dare u.
me too. I like scaring people at the gym.
it's kinda like my hobby0 -
Are we talking tights like with the feet in them or leggings? I couldn't imagine wearing tights to work out lol. Not only are they, well, tight, but they're often see through. I also don't think a lot of tights material is breathable, which you should consider. If we're asking leggings then sure. I wear the thicker ones made for exercise.0
-
I would say no... Just because I wouldn't. but to each their own!0

If you wear tights just wear a shirt long enough to cover your butt or shorts over it. I think this should be for 90% of people not just overweight individuals. Also it depends on what the tights are made out of the cheap cotton ones or the more expensive ones made for excercising.0

Another vote for yoga pants- They are great & I bought 2 pair at Sam's Club for only $11- Not sure where you're from but surely you could find some for kind of cheap
But I guess it depends on what kind of tights you are planning on wearing
Just make sure theydon't look like this:
:laugh:0 -
Are you talking like leggings - or nylons?
I wear leggings everywhere, so I say do it. It's all about what you're comfortable in.0 -
I'm assuming you mean thick tights or leggings? (as in "not see-through"). I don't see why not. I've been wearing leggins because they are the only thing that fits right to keep my thighs from rubbing. And I wore them at 272lbs...I figure if nobody wants to look at my fat *kitten* in tight pants they can look the other way. lol

Tights, no. Those are kinda sheer. Leggings, yes. I just wear whatever yoga, sweat, track pant or short that I have not necessarily the wicking workout clothes. Tights are basically pantyhose, only a little thicker. If you wouldn't leave the house wearing hose and no skirt, then I wouldn't wear just tights.0

I'm not a fan of tights or tight clothing-on any sized body.0

You know what? You are going to the gym to work out. It is not a fashion parade, a fancy restaurant or theatre.. it's a gym. We go there to exercise and get hot and sweaty. Wear whatever is comfortable. What business is it of anybody elses if you wear tight leggings because they are the most comfortable for you?
Honestly, if everyone is there to work out, they should be focussing on themselves, not on what other people are or aren't wearing. The sort of people who will judge others for what they wear at the gym are the sort of people that always put me off going to the gym at all. I am lucky i have found a gym that is really friendly, everyone just turns up in whatever they are comfortable in.. most women wear leggings of some description.. some wear shorts over the top, some don't. A lot of us just wear comfy shorts and a tee shirt. i have been going to this gym since I weighed 350lbs+, and it is exactly the environment a gym should be. Supportive, non-judgemental and encouraging.
When it comes down to it, you are making the effort to change your lifestyle, to be fitter and healthier.. does it really matter what you wear, or is the important thing the fact you are doing it? People should congratulate each other for making the effort, and not judge each other for something as superficial as the clothes we work out in.0 -
I'd say wear whatever you feel most comfortable in... Gym is not suppose to be a runway show... U should do it for urself...0

Just make sure theydon't look like this:
Gross, those arent tights those are sausage casings.0
