How do you Eat Your Oatmeal?

I have oatmeal every morning with a splash of milk and two teaspoons of light brown sugar. Something just occurred to me, though, as I have some pumpkin puree in the fridge--what if I added some of that to my oatmeal with some pumpkin pie spice? The additional calories would be negligible, and the flavor could be really good. I'm going to try it in the morning.
I'd be really curious to hear how that goes. I have mine with two teaspoons of agave nectar and a dash of salt (190 calories total), but I'm always looking for something new.0 -
Try this recipe:
Banana Bread Oatmeal
3 cups skim milk
3 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
2 cups quick or old fashioned oats
2 medium ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
2 to 3 Tbsp coarsely chopped toasted pecans (I omiitted)
Optional toppings: vanilla fat-free yogurt, banana slices, pecan halves, cinnamon or whatever you like
1. Bring milk, brown sugar, spices and salt, if desired to a gentle goil in med saucepan (watch carefully). Stir in oats. Return to a boil; reduce heat to medium. Cook 1 minute for quick oats, 5 minutes for old fashioned oats or until most of liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
2. Remove oatmeal from heat. Stir in mashed bananas and pecans. Spoon oatmeal into 4 cereal bowls. Top with yogurt, sliced bananas and pecan halves if desired.

I add any of the following:
Frozen berries.
Banana and cinnamon.
Banana and chopped walnuts.
Diced mango.
Cinnamon and sultanas.
Sultanas and chopped dried apricots.
Grated apple.
Grated carrot and nutmeg.
Grated pear.
Stewed apple.
Cinnamon and brown sugar.
Tinned pear and peach mix.
... or just a splash of milk or a spoonful of non-fat yoghurt.
Usually, though, it's either banana or berries.0 -

I cook mine with a little salt and then add maple syrup.

I make my oatmeal with unsweetened almond milk, and mix in some dried cranberries and almonds. Everyday. Lol. Maybe I should take some ideas from this thread, but I am a creature of habit!0

Just started preparing mine a new, healthier way. I used to have mine with Earth Balance spread and brown sugar, but now I do:
1/2 cup Quaker old fashioned oats
1 cup almond milk
1 tablespoon organic coconut oil (stir in after cooking oats with almond milk)
sprinkle on cinnamon
DELISH!0 -
A massive spoon of cocoa powder, a little bit of stevia, and some cinnamon... Or peanut butter, a little bit of sugarless jam, and a banana.0
-
Thawed frozen berry medley, some cinnamon, honey, nutmeg... delish.0

1/8 cup of pecans or walnuts and 1/8 cup crasins. Crasins are sugary but they taste good...0
