Why is it some folks don't make their food diaries available to their friends.I find it helpful to see the variety of foods people are eating. Also I find it hard to comment on someone's day if all I see is so & so was under his or her calories for the day without seeing how they did it.JMHO

Mine's open! Not alway great.....but open0

I keep mine open about 90% of the time. There are times I will close it for various reasons, but usually not for long because I need the accountability. Plus keeping it public allows those who take issue with my weight loss or think I'm starving myself to see that I do eat plenty enough.0

Because it's none of our business what other people eat unless they want to make it our business.0

Completely agree! Add me if you'd like. :0)

I just don't respond to closed diaries anymore. Someone coming in under could be coming in under on candy corn. Not supporting a closed diary.0
-
I agree, but it can be hard at times logging everything for everyone to see, especially if I had a bad day!!!0
-
I think some people might be afraid of being criticized if they had a poor diet that day.0
-
I agree...I track the good, bad, and the downright ugly!0

mine too!0 -
mine's open! i like keeping mine open because i'm a vegan who's also extremely broke most of the time, and i like showing people it's possible to eat vegan without having a ton of cash.0

agreed! sometimes i hide mine if i'm getting too many messages of people telling me what to eat and what not to eat! i know people are just trying to help, but i get annoyed (at myself) when i'm not doing well hahaha
and i never comment on someone's food diary if it's not open and i cant look at the food choices!0 -
I keep mine open. It helps keep me accountable!0

Some people just arent that comfortable with opening up that much....period! My dairy...closed!0
-
I keep mine open. I'm not bothered by what other people think of my food choices. However I do respect that some people are not comfortable sharing all that info. I just tend to not comment if I can't see what they are eating. I'm usually looking for new ideas.0

Mine is open!0

Mine is open to my friends. I also find it funny that people make comments on people's daily summary when that person's diary is closed. I don't make any comments without seeing someone's diary 1st.0

I keep mine private because I track things that no one wants to know about such as disestive issues. I want to coorelate fiber to movements for lack of a better way of putting it. Ha Ha. In notes I also log my daily weight, energy levels, Time of Month (TOM) so I can go back and make changes to my future if needed.0

I just recently made mine open to friends, I guess I was just self conscious. But I'm over that and ready to take any and all feedback, just no judgement. Feel free to add me!0

I keep mine open because I like to also get ideas from other people, so I figure fair is fair.0

Funny you should post this because I feel the same way. I had a buddy who was always under on her daily diary. I used to comment stuff like "WTG, good job etc" little did I know she had a very serious eating problem. Had she opened up her diary I would have known all was not well and could have offered to help her. She has since left the site.
So I no longer comment on diaries I cannot see. As a matter of fact, i have a buddy that has a private diary and today I asked her to share it, but she said she was "not ready" I hope all is well with her.0 -
I had mine closed for a while because someone was being snarky about my sodium and one person told me I ate too many lean cuisines!! Its a personal choice! Mine is now open cause I am on my last 10lbs and it makes me eat better.0

You are more than welcome to check mine out..it's open!0

Mine's open, but I don't think that everyone has to have theirs open. If they wanted it open for everyone to see, they would. The fact that it is an option is great. Not everyone wants comments on what they're eating. Sure, they might add you as a friend for support and vis versa, but giving support and receiving support doesn't require an open food diary policy. If you really want to know what someone is eating, you can ask kindly what kind of foods they're eating. Some people just don't want to broadcast it to everyone (regardless if they are eating healthy) on the internet but will still respond to a kindly put question.0

Mines open too. Have at it.0

It doesn't bother me. Some people are more private or maybe are making changes one step at a time and don't need people bashing them for unhealthy choices even if it is a healthier choice than normal for that person.
I do like to get ideas also but if someone's diary is closed I just move on to someone elses that isn't closed. It is myfitnesspal not everyone all up in mybusinesspal, lol.0 -
i dont comment on diaries, period. Very often I see food choices that are not good even though they are low cal. I feel that i can't support someone's choice to eat fast food every day or only eat processed food. but that's their personal choice. it is my personal choice not to comment on that. So i will comment on my friend's exercise accomplishments but never on their food choices unless they ask specifically what i think of that.0

I keep mine closed. I track my food but I am just not at the point yet in my weight loss that I can handle criticism from others about what I eat. I have been criticized for my weight my whole life and don't want to hinder my progress if someone criticizes me for not eating the "healthiest". I will get there.0

mine is open ... i just like to get ideas from others thats why i like to look... whats wierd is to think that people would judge... never thought of that... to each their own right??? sometimes i like to eat naughty food... lol
