yes I never reach my calorie goal on this diet. And i eat tons of vegis and meats. I think its normal in the first cycle.0

Two days done! I have done well except for the couple handfuls of milk chocolate chips I had last night. It was only about 150 cals worth and I still was under calories. I am ok with it but will try not to do that every day. It will be hard now that the package is open!
Going to lunch with a supplier today so I plan to get a big salad! Hopefully they don't pick a Mexican restaurant because I have a really hard time resisting the chips and salsa. They might think I'm crazy if I just start eating the salsa with a spoon. lol.

I started the 17 dd last week and lost 7lbs! then went away for the long weekend (thanksgiving here in Canada) and gained 3.5 back so I'm back on track this week. I think I will extend my first 17 days to about 20 to make up for the long weekend.

You know you guys. I cant lie. I had to stop this diet. It reminded me too much of when I did atkins. When I did it I lost 90 pounds in 9 months. ( went from 305-215) and when I went off of it within a year I was back up to 270. I don't want to do that again! Im sticking to low-carb but, its more like the second faze of this diet.0

I think if you are determined to not let it be like that time again for you, then it won't. The cycles are meant to be repeated anyway until you reach that ultimate healthy goal weight.
I'm stickin' to it!! As much as I want to just eat my nut thins with hummus, my 100 calorie cookies and chocolate dusted almonds - I won't! I'm going to train my body and myself to enjoy vegetables and proteins and yogurt in a clean way. I will reward myself with the ability to run a 10K, the strength to raise my standards of men and the confidence to wear a little black dress!0 -

I think that it is acceptable to stay on the diet and modify it to your needs. That is where I struggled last time. I did really good for the first 2 cycles and then I had a coupld slips and decided to stop it altogher. This time I am sticking to the plan as closely as I can. At this point the pounds I lose keep me motivated. However, when I hit that point where I want to have a snack, I am not going to let one bad decision sabatoge all of the hard work I have done. After all, it is about getting to a place where we are making the right choices for life.0 -
My official start weight this morning was 185.6. I went up 4 lbs over the CDN long weekend... :grumble:
I started the day with leftover turkey, and actually felt really good, and a little more clearly focused during my morning class.
I ate that, and prunes (dried... I'm not sure if that counts...), a plum, an egg, some avocado, green tea! Then tofu (not allowed) and bok choy with other cooked veggies. Hanging in there so far! Did a lot of walking today, so not doing the Shred today. I'm feeling hungry now, and think I might make some beet juice (beets and veggies). I don't know if beets are allowed, cause I didn't see them ANYWHERE in any phase...
_________Does anyone know if its ok to take a Acidophilus probiotic-4 supplemant instead of having yogurt. I burnt my self out on the yogurt the first time around with this diet. And I would rather take the supplemant. I loaned my book out to the neighbor and if anyone knows let me know.
lkenn67... Is soy milk allowed in the 1st 17 days? I ate tofu in my veggies (I made them last week, so I wasn't going to take them out). I also have edamame, and fully intend on putting them in with my other veggies, even though it's not allowed. Beans are another area I think I might just let myself slip into, even though they aren't added until the 2nd 17 days.
shellonis... Thanks for the recipe! Sounds delicious, but I don't think pumpkin is allowed in the 1st 17 days. (BUT if you read above, that doesn't really matter too much to me.)
mscoco10... Try having a little more protein or dairy, or add in some things (like tofu, and edamame, in my case, which technically aren't allowed) to meet your daily needs! This isn't about starving.
ail01... Congrats on the weight! :happy: Too bad about Thanksgiving... Same thing here!! 4 lbs!! So this will be good for both of us!
Loves2snack... I know how you feel!! It reminds me of the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet (but not as extreme in the results for me). I want to (and am in some cases), just jumping into phase 2 with certain food items (see my responses above).
kristizzzle... YEAH! I want to eat more protein and veggies (mainly veggies), and learn to enjoy them more. Even today in my shopping, I got apples and grapefruit, but not a lot of greens.0 -

The soy milk isn't on the list for cylce 1, but I am like you. There are little tweeks to the plan I am making. I am trying to stay as close as I can, but there are somethings I will change. I think any diet has to be something you can live with. When I eat things I shouldn't I get an upset stomach and headaches that last for weeks. So I try to stay away from certain foods. For some reason the yogurt culture is one of them.
So far today I am doing well. I am feeling hungry now. I need to pick up my daughter and head home. Dinner tonight is tilapia with zuchinni (which I bought before I realized it wasn't on the list), and a salad.
It is weird about the tofu. Since tempeh is on the list, you would think you could have other soy proteins. This might be another area I bend.

Hey Everyone!
I am halfway through day 2 of 17dd and Its going well!! I already feel like I have more energy and motivation to get all of my responsibilities done each day. I STILL don't have the official book yet...my Sister said she was sending it in the mail but I am worried it wont come for another 4 days or so. Thank goodness there is so much info online! I have stayed completely true to the diet EXCEPT the handful of almonds that I had yesterday that I didn't realize were restricted in phase 1-oh well! At least it was almonds and not a donut or something, haha. Luckily, I am a dance minor so much or my exersise is already worked into my day for me, but no dance today so I think i'll go running tonight
I would put my measurements up now...but I think I am going to wait a few days or so. I had a baad weekend (homecoming weekend...) and I know that I gained quite a bit of water weight and maybe even actual weight-not sure. Regardless, I don't want to get myself down if I am a bit more than expected so early in the diet. I'm just following the rules, feeling good, and trusting my body is acting accordingly at this point!
One thing that I can't find online- is melon allowed in phase one? or is that not on the allowed fruits list?0 -
What are everyone's carbs, fats, and protein counts for the first couple days, I am wondering. Please share, cause I would really like to know! Mine are 59 g carbs, 63 fats, 103 protein... 1202 calories. Haha! I had dark turkey so it put the numbers up a little in fat and protein. I'm low on fiber... Are we allowed to have protien bars? It has 3 net carbs and 2 grams of sugar 20 grams of protien.0 -
I ended up eating rice tonight. ugh...when I got home from work my 13 yr old had an eye infection, we went to ready care, then to qdoba. I could have made better choices, but I am not letting one mistake set me off course for the rest of the day. I logged it and am moving on.

I'm on my phone so I can't post two much. Just had spinach and tilapia filet it was yummy with some butter/canola oil spread and red vinegar. I wasn't able to exercise tonight cause I had to do my baby's laundry and my bf hogged the tv. This heavy guy at work told me how he lost 45 pounds in 8 months on weight watchers only to gain it all back. He told me this aS he ate his fourth slice of pizza. Maybe he was trying to motivate me to be careful not to gain it back. I've gained and lost twice before so I know the hardship. So thats my rant for the evening. Stay strong everyone. Don't let those carbs win. And in the words of my sometimes wiser younger sister, "just say no" to the food0

Sounds like you had a great day! I also understand the cycle of losing and gaining again but I always learn great tips along the way and feel like there are always positive lessons learned. Love your sisters advice!0 -
Its usually when Im starving when I cave into all the bad foods. Then once I did that then I say screw it and eat everything in sight. I need to carry healthy snacks on me so I dont cave into those bad things. Im mostly worried about the weekend. HopefullY i can be strong this weekend!!:happy:0

My stepsons 13 birthday was celebrated at our house last night so I had a slice of papa john's pizza (topped with my homeade bbq chicken...lol) and a small slice of DQ frozen cake. I only had 1300 total calories for the day and the scale was still friendly to me this morning. Tomorrow night I am going to have a little bowl of chili at a friend's bonfire but will not have hot dogs or dessert. I am doing this plan because it works.
A few cheats here and there won't kill you but it's better to try to stick to it as much as possible. Just remember, it's only for 17 days and then you get to include more foods (like rice).

no they are not really allowed. however, you can modify. but if i were you, i would try to stick to the plan as much as possible for the first 17 days so you can see how this works for you. some people add protein shakes which I might do so this is probably similar to that, depending on the ingredients. Part of what you are trying to do is eat "whole foods", not a lot of processed stuff.0 -
Thought you guys might want to see someone else's results that they posted from another thread. If this doesn't motivate you to at least give the plan a try for one round, I don't know what will!! Over 30 pounds in 51 days. That is pretty amazing!17 Day Diet ROCKS!!!

Today went well overall! It was SUPER gloomy outside so I was feeling a bit unmotivated and didnt really get much exercise in, which usually means I go over on my cal goal..but not today! I am so pleased with myself because I-being the sweet-toothed gal i am- was having some serious cravings today and was close to caving a few times. I work at a bar...and being surrounded by pizza and ice cream and yummy alcohol drinks isn't the best environment for someone on a diet. But I just said no. I am trying to break my habit of giving into my cravings and then working it off- its too much extra work! I thought..."umm...how about just not eating the bad stuff in the first place and saving yourself the hassle??" duh. I had some grapes around 2:30...but thats all i've cheated.
New fav snack: Baby Bell Garlic wedge spread on cucumber slices- YUM.0 -

Just wanted to throw out there that I've lost 6.6 lbs since Wednesday... Day 3 now.
Gogretchen... Way to stay on track! I've got the biggest sweet tooth ever (and often deny this), so I know it's tough to give it up. I went nuts with sweets last weekend, but only had a little sugar in the sauce on my eggs yesterday. When I went to my naturopathic doctor he did muscle testing to determine my allergies. (testing the strength when we come into contact with different foods.) When he put sugar against my skin, and did the test, I was really weak. He says we all have a sensitivity to sugar, so imagine what it is doing to us!! :noway: I love getting away from sugar, and I think it's really going to help my focus and mood swings. :bigsmile:New fav snack: Baby Bell Garlic wedge spread on cucumber slices- YUM.0 -
I have been trying to stick to plan as much as I could. At work we had a bunch of apples delivered. We gave over 700 away to students and there were still tons. A bunch of teachers took them home and today it was apple dessert extravaganza. OMG. The one that was calling to me was the carmel apple cheesecake bars. (I did not eat one... yeah me
I have a couple of cheats, but am really trying to stay on plan. especially avoiding the processed foods. This weekend will be tough because my husband will be in town. He is currently working/living 8 hrs away. We tend to eat out alot..... I am also struggling with the daily exercise.
I am planning...no I WILL follow the plan. My reason for doing this, is what I was doing wasn't getting me where I want. So I need to change and do something new. If I cheat, I end up turning this back into what I was already doing. and I know that wasn't working for me.
Ok, that is my personal insight for the evening. Tomorrow will 100% on plan.

So today is R1C1D5 for me.
Day 1 and 2 I definitely maintained a throbbing headache all day and felt pretty lethargic. Sugar withdrawl? Day 3 and 4 I felt good enough to workout, but was too full to cram anymore calories in and I only reached about 1,000 each day.
Today, I feel great. I'm beginning to feel more confident about this plan and my abilities to stick to it for another, oh I don't know, 47 days .. haha, and that's only if I reach my goal weight in Round 1! Which I won't ... but anyway, feeling much better about it. My dilemma now is "packing a lunch" for my busy work days, or just figuring out how I can eat within the plan on these days.
I'm making an omelette before I go to work, bringing my yogurt and fruit for my snacks; lunch will be ground turkey lettuce wraps with grilled peppers; but then I'm at a loss for dinner. I've had the same thing for lunch and dinner every day so far in this plan - sliced turkey with veggies for lunch, grilled chicken with veggies for dinner. I'm ready for some seafood!! But I can't exactly prepare that in my microwave at work ... I'm thinking I may try to sneak out to Chipotle for a salad with just fajita veggies, chicken and salsa. Any ideas for me?0
